My wife and I have stayed here many times, and we always have an excellent experience. I'll just repeat what I said in my review from my last visit: Relaxing, oasis atmosphere in the garden around which the buildings of the Casa Gonzalez are situated. Old world charm--they have only changed the things that they need to. Very friendly staff. Opportunity to meet other travelers around the large "communal" tables in the dining room where they serve breakfast and dinner. Excellent location in a residential neighborhood within walking distance to many of the sites you will want to visit.

We had to leave early the next morning -- it was Christmas Day -- and so I didn't get to enjoy the breakfast. It's a nice barrio -- The British Embassy is about two blocks away. I first stayed there in 2003, and it was great then as well. A propósito -- the price is right. Two thumbs way up. NV

Absolutely adored our stay at Casa Gonzalez! It’s truly a little oasis in the city, absolutely gorgeous and everyone is very friendly. We were impressed with how clean our room was every day, as well as the grounds. Check in and check out we’re super easy, and the laundry was a great cost. The restaurant on site has good food and attentive staff, plus it was just super cute. We would definitely stay here again, it was super quiet at night and the area had good food and was very walkable. Our hot water wasn’t always reliable, but with an older building that’s sometimes to be expected. Truly thankful we booked here! They even let us leave our bags at the front desk when we arrived way earlier than check in time. Can’t recommend enough.

The main draw at this charming hotel is the beautiful, beautiful courtyard and garden adjoining each room. On our visit (in late April), the property was a lush, cool oasis away from the city. You could sit in the courtyard all day!
Our room was clean and functional. The shower did not have hot water on the first day, but the staff quickly fixed this issue after we reported it.
The location is also great, with many excellent tacquerias, parks, and local sights within walking distance. All this at an affordable price point makes it worth recommending.

It looks like it is an old mansion converted into a hotel, which had a lot of character. It has beautiful gardens and outdoor sitting areas. The onsite restaurant was great and reasonably priced, and the staff was also great and responsive.

A very friendly, charming and reasonably priced property that is family-owned. The rooms vary a lot, and as I stayed their at two separate times within my stay, the second room I got was WAY more comfortable and modern. The breakfast was wonderful and the hotel owner joined us at one point for a chat, and shared a bit of the history of the hotel.

Let me start by saying how cute this place is and the many courtyards are just beautiful. The area has numerous restaurants, coffee shops and bakeries. We loved having breakfast with complete strangers from all over the world and emensely enjoyed the conversations. The room was very spacious and had a great view of the courtyard! Plus it was very clean. I can't say enough about how friendly the staff was. We most definitely will stay at this hidden gem the next time we are in Mexico City.

Our stay at the hotel was very nice. There were a couple of little things that were disappointing for example of laundry wasn’t available and yesterday when we were out touring, I twisted my ankle really badly and they wouldn’t open the kitchen to give my husband a bag of ice so he had to go around the corner and pick up a 5 pound bag of ice Not a big deal just wasn’t great customer service. Who cares about the ice it was just more the inconvenience. The breakfasts were great and the service wonderful.

It's a nice quiet "Mexican"hotel in an area away from the Centro, but close to the Bosque and Museum of Anthropology. Very comfortable bed. Lots of great restaurants in the area and Metro station is a short walk away. Uber is great and very reasonable and convenient. Staff are very helpful and pleasant to deal with. We enjoyed our stay.

When you enter this special place, you feel you've escaped from the hustle and bustle of the big city. The garden is lovely. The restaurant is pleasant with delicious options for breakfast. The price of the rooms is moderate, and the location, just a few blocks from the Angel de la Independencia is excellent.

This is an excellent small hotel with pretty gardens to relax in and a friendly staff who will go out of their way to answer questions and provide help. Breakfast in the appealing dining room is copious, with a broad variety of choices. The dining room is also open for dinner, an attractive option after a day of sightseeing. I really enjoyed my stay at Casa González. The room was comfy and clean, the courtyard was green and inviting, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I especially appreciate that the hotel wants to minimize plastic trash. (They gladly refilled my 20L water container.) It's close to a lively section of the city but far enough away that it's quiet at night. There's a couple of good bakeries nearby, too (Pan Tastica and Trigali). I wish it was closer to a subway station but Insurgentes is not too far away, even with luggage.

Casa Gonzalez is an oasis in busy Mexico City! The decor and furnishings reflect its 100 year history. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The location close to the U.S. Embassy and Angel of Independence monument means you are never more than 15 minutes by Uber to all the important sights. The on-site restaurant offers homey service with both delicious Mexican and American options. The patios are beautiful with numerous tranquil sitting areas. We were pleased with the generosity that we could remain on the property after checkout until our departure. We will definitely return to this charming hotel!

It pains me to write this, because I really liked this place! This was actually my second visit. The food is great, the architecture is lovely, and the staff is wonderful. However, I was bitten by what I am certain was a bed bug. I’m from New York, I had them years ago, so I know my stuff! But I saw two clusters of three bites on my torso and I panicked. These were not mosquitoes. And when I went downstairs to tell the concierge, he didn’t even try to make it up to me — he just asked if I wanted a spray. You don’t treat bed bugs with spray! Needless to say, I will not be coming back.

This is my second time staying at Casa Gonzalez. What a lovely small boutique hotel. The staff is kind and welcoming. The rooms are clean and charming. The hotel gardens and courtyard are lovely. The dinning room is a quaint beautifully decorated room with delicious breakfast options. I highly recommend this hotel. Casa Gonzalez is a great place to stay in the Paseo de la Reforma neighbourhood. They welcome you warmly and have good services, 24 hour open office, and helpful and friendly staff (who speak good English, which was great for us.) Our room was small, as was the double bed (typical in Mexico) and there was a slight musty smell in our old but updated hotel room. The private bathroom had a good shower. The courtyard is full of plants and tables and you feel very private and safe behind the locked gate. From the street, it's not obvious that this is a hotel, and it's in a safe area across from the British Embassy, so there is secure police protection in the area. We walked to the zocalo in the Centro Historico (a long walk) and to the museum of anthropology (closer). It's close to some good places to eat and also they provide a fabulous, family style breakfast where you sit and chat to other guests from all over the world. It feels like a community. The service is wonderful. You can also get other meals there—the dinner was really good. We would recommend Casa Gonzalez as an easy, central and safe place to stay in Mexico City.
