this hotel is very basic and i think overpriced. We arrived and the hotel staff seemed overworked, tired and stressed out. We got to our room and realized that it was very stuffy and hot so we tried to turn the air conditioning on and realized after some time that it didn’t work along with the elevator. my husband went to ask inquire about the air conditioner not working and was told that if we waited “some more time” that it would work. it never worked and it was hot and stuffy our entire 2 evening stay. i went to grab the extra pillow that was provided in a plastic casing which made it seem like it was clean but when i looked at the pillow it had mascara marks on it.
the shower also leaked because the door doesn’t fully shut. It was good enough to rest our bodies after a long journey but not very comfortable.

Excellent little ibis right next to a load of restaurants at the MaxCenter. My only issue is they there is always a lot of English staying before the ferry, but no opportunity to watch any news in English on tv. Most other hotels have this facility so it’s noticeable when not available. Would recommend though

If I see an Ibis available on my travels I'll always choose it: free parking, dog friendly, good and reasonably priced menu, comfortable rooms. However, this one was a bit disappointing. The staff were lovely and friendly, but the rooms were dated and not very clean. Parking isn't guaranteed either, it's first-come, first-served and it's a very large hotel so fills up quickly. I think I got the last spot and saw a few other travellers circliing around in frustration as there didn't seem to be anywhere else nearby to leave the car.

This Ibis (Red) hotel has the same high standards that we’ve grown accustomed to. Building itself doesn’t look much however inside its clean, has knowledgable staff and very comfortable rooms, especially the beds. A bigger sign in the car park to point you in the right direction of the Ibis (red) reception area would have been appreciated.

Staff are absolutely wonderful
We got caught up in the country’s lock down due to Coronavirus unfortunately, but the staff were so helpful and calm. Although the bar and restaurant were closed they made us breakfast and allowed us to eat in the room. They also made calls to the ferry port to check if the boat was still going ahead.

Best Ibis hotel I have stayed in, opposite the Max Centre shopping Mall and couple of hundred yards from 10 pin bowling, cinema and lots of food oulets, good free car park, very comfortable room, big bed and shower room! Well worth the money

We have used this Ibis several times en-route to the ferry. The staff are brilliant and the restaurant, breakfast and dinner, is great value for good food. The rooms and the bathroom are clean. The bed and bed linen are excellent for a good nights sleep.

Budget hotel - faultless facilities and service
I stayed here for one night as I was attending a conference at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. Very welcoming staff, a spotless room with everything you need in terms of TV, free wifi, comfortable bed, shower with readily available hot water and shower gel - pretty much everything a businessman needs in a hotel. The hotel has a grill kitchen on the ground floor offering a simple menu of salads and cooked meats. I had the goat cheese salad starter and a fillet steak main course - couldn't fault it and the staff were efficient and attentive.
I asked to borrow an iron and ironing board - and both were readily provided. I also asked for directions on how to get to the Exhibition Centre if I wanted to walk it, and I was drawn a map on how to get there. For anyone who wanted to walk there, it is a leisurely 25 min walk (the staff in the Exhibition Centre told me I had to get a cab to the Ibis hotel as it was too far and could only be reached by taxi - which as it turned out was complete nonsense - it is walkable! It is about twice the distance as the Novotel is from the Convention Centre and the Novotel is claimed to be conference hotel, yet the Ibis was half the price!!).

How did this get 4 stars from users?
The arrival is confusing as there are two hotels, an Ibis and a Budget Ibis, right next to each other. There were two women working at the Budget where we went first, helping only one customer and took nearly 10 minutes to get them to attend to us. When they finally did, turns out our reservation was at the other hotel. Easy enough transition, and the main Ibis has a nice looking restaurant that was not clearly described on the website, so we missed out, having opted for a quick and run sandwich elsewhere not knowing what was available. The room was small, fine for cheap and cheerful, but there was a horrible smell and a lot of dust that had my husband up all night with allergies that took until midday the next day to clear up despite taking some antihistimines. We've travelled all over the world together and he's never had that reaction before, so we'll certainly never be going back.

This is the first time we have tried this hotel as we was going on the ferry. We only stay 1 night and it was ok, was not over happy with the location as we travel with 2 dogs and with it being on a main road there was nowhere to walk them.
