Clean room, excellent location. Great service!

Due to a terrace outside this room the beach view was limited. However, the room was kept clean, all the staff were helpful and were always happy to assist us whenever we asked. We did not need to touch the air conditioning. There was a coffee maker in the room and coffee supplies were replaced as used each day. We came back to this hotel as it was on the beach and our previous experience was great.

This isn’t a 4 star hotel. Reception is only partly manned and then by a sour, rude woman who clearly doesn’t want to be there! Seaside room was mainly obscured by an inaccessible deck area. Room wasn’t clean or there was blood on my pillow. Access to car park is closed at 10pm (in Spain!) and hotel to bar area is via a dirty service corridor. Don’t be fooled by old reviews. This is barely a 3/10.

Tuvimos que pedir el cambio de habitación por el ruido de un concierto que se celebraba en el bar/restaurante debajo de la habitación. No dispone de servicio de desayuno. La recepción cierra a las 22.00. Hay una pronunciada escalera para llegar al vestíbulo del hotel.

Disappointing what did not work!
A bit tired generally, we paid for a sea-view - it was across a balcony we could not use, so therefore obstructed - yes you could see the sea but !!!
The descriptions were (immediately agreed by the receptionist who started working on correcting them) to be out of date and inaccurate.
It was suggested we pre-book parking we tried but although the call was answered by an automated switchboard - we shall be with you shortly - no one picked up. The receptionist tried herself and found the phone did not ring at her desk, so hardly surprising it was not answered.
We had a window which opened and that cooled the room (advertised air-con did not work so that was the only option). Possibly as a result we had mosquitos in room and were both bitten at least 20 times during an over-hot night. I found at least 3 mosquitos the next morning in the bathroom
Breakfast was not available in hotel although there was the Solera bar / restaurant below that offered a (seemingly grudginly) breakfast service.
Well located on the beach-front and hotel parking (no charge) in an open area beside the beach was relatively convenient (the alternative finding pay parking wherever you could in street) albeit perhaps 100 yards and up steps from hotel entrance
Hotel is well-located for beach side walk and funicular to upper town for evening eating / drinking options.
A function of proximity to beach is early morning dog-walkers let their yapping dogs wake you up.

Hotel Igrerexte is due a renovation. - a little tired but very comfortable - everything we needed. Great location - excellent dining options on site and easy access for awesome walks to Algorta and L:as Arenas.

On the beach - literally
Nice Hotel on the beach in Getxo, Bilbao. Excellent view from the room towards the beach. The restaurants were closed for renovation / change of owner and this meant no food was available in the hotel. There are restaurants close by and this covered up for this.

Primera impresión al llegar bastante negativa, ningún tipo de iluminación en las escaleras de acceso al hotel, recepción con horario muy limitado, interior del hotel en bastante mal estado, la habitación con una decoración muy austera, sin ningun cuadro y todo de color beige, solo 2 capsulas de cafe y no leche en ,a habitación,televisión muy pequeña, no usb points, no canales de televisión internacionales, rodapies en muy mal estado, buenas vistas a la playa de Ereaga, no buffet de desayuno tuvimos que usar el buffett del hotel Tamarises, las areas comunes del hotel en muy mal estado y muy poco cuidadas, el hotel en si necesita una reforma total.

This is a very good hotel in a good location. A pity that the breakfast rolls and croissants were stale.

The hotel is in a fantastic position on the beach. It is also close to Bilbao airport so ideal on day of arrival or the night before a return flight. There is free parking extremely closely which is also a bonus. The view from the bedroom window was super. However, I felt this hotel was expensive compared to others we had stayed in in this area of Spain. I also felt that this hotel was not kept to the high standard I had seen elsewhere. For example the glass doors entering the hotel were extremely dirty and did not look as if they had been cleaned for some time. The bedroom had clearly been updated recently and on first glance looked good. However the ensuite bathroom, for example, had not been installed to a high standard and the finish was poor. Had I have paid less, I might have not considered all this an issue. However, given that it is not a cheap hotel I would have expected a better standard. I suspect this hotel is able to rest on its laurels because of its unbeatable position.

Great hotel in a lovely spot, I spent 3 years in the area as ateenager and returned after 45 years. Clean with friendly local people, found our way to our old home walking. It was magical and enchanting. We had a seaview room that was wonderful! We sat on the large window seat, sipping wine and watching dogs dig onthebeach

Nuestra habitación daba al jardín. El mobiliario estaba deteriorado. La bañera tenía moho en las juntas y también en las de los azulejos y en el teléfono de la ducha por donde sale el agua y en el cable. La cama muy grande, pero incómoda. Sólo había un tipo de almohada de las muy duras y altas, sin más opciones. En los hoteles de 4 estrellas, siempre ponen dos tipos a elegir., porque no todo el mundo puede dormir en una almohada así. La habitación estaba fría. No sabemos si hubo calefacción en algún momento, pero tuvimos que levantarnos por la noche a ponernos ropa encima. Vivimos en el norte y sabemos lo que es el frío, pero en la habitación se notaba un helor que no era normal para ser un hotel, supuestamente de esa categoría. Sí eran buenas las toallas, grandes y esponjosas.
Para acceder al hotel, tienes que subir bastantes escaleras. Por lo que si vas con maletas, la solución es dar toda la vuelta por fuera, para entrar por la cafetería que da a la playa, atravesarla con las maletas y allí, en la parte de atrás, hay un ascensor que te sube a la recepción. Es surrealista...
Ya en el piso de las habitaciones hay distintas alturas, por lo que si te toca como a nosotros, una habitación en la parte baja, tienes que volver a bajar y subir escalones, cargados de maletas. Muy incómodo todo.
Si quieres desayunar, tienes que esperar a las 9.30h que abre la cafetería o coger el coche e irte al centro de la ciudad.

Se ve el paso de los años y de la brisa marina en las instalaciones. Aseo de la habitacion solo digo que durante dos días estaban cabellos de no sé qué persona (yo soy calvo) en el piso y allí estuvieron dos días. Fatal ese detalle. La experiencia a sido muy buena, para ser un hotel con mas de 100 años, esta bastante bien, habria algunas cosillas que se podrian mejorar, pero por precio, hotel familiar, con pocas habitaciones, la gente muy agradable y una ubicacion inmejorable, a pie de playa, y su restaurante con vistas al mar, la estancia a sido muy buena. Seguro que repito.
