The location is great for walking, but it may prove difficult to get an Uber right there, as they usually stop somewhere close by. The hotel is close by to a lot of shops and restaurants (walking distance). The building itself is older, the room was small, the shower stall was very small, but the hotel and the room were very clean. The staff were very helpful.

Down a side street ,minutes from Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, good views of the mosques from the roof terrace.Basilica cistern right opposite Hagia Sophia.Buy a ticket to enter both mosques and Topkapi palace , works out cheaper.

20 minute walk to the grand bazaar and spice markets.

Hotel is pleasant , rooms a bit small but very clean and comfy bed.Great choice for breakfast, cereals, pastries, fruits, several types of bread , hot choice off foods also available and plenty of it .

Hotel staff were extremely helpful , always greeted with a smile and asked if we had ,had a good day and where we had been.

Special thank you to Kerem hotel manager , contacted us while we were in South Africa to say he would organise a private transfer from the airport as we arrived at 04.40 in the morning.

A well run hotel and comfortable .position is petfect .

I have to say I was bitterly disappointed with this hotel not as advertised at all. Elevator not working, the bed very hard. The only redeeming feature was the breakfast..I have to say was delicious! ..no complaints at all ..just a shame the room and elevator didn't have the same standard..Even so , I won't be staying here again .

The hotel is good especially the day time front desk is very helpful. He recommended the tours were excellent. But there were two points I didn't like. First, the hotel doesn't allow the escorts come in. It's very inconvenient for me. I am a single but still have that desires. The girls here are pretty and inexpensive. I have to find the other ways to see girls. Second, the bathroom has a little smells. Even though the housekeeper can remove it but it would appears again next days.

Rude staff at reception. Told they were overbooked and after we rejected to change hotel magically a room appeared.
The room was tiny, impossible to move there.
But the worst part was the noise. It was impossible to sleep there, it looked like the walls were made of paper. Terrible stay.

I had a great stay at this hotel. The breakfast is excellent! Staff is super friendly and engaging. The hotel is located in the old city and is walking distance (3 min walk) from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Cisterna Basilica. There are plenty of restaurants and shops around. 10/10 recommend

I like that the property is steps away from all the museums. Unfortunately, my room did not have a view. The place is clean and although it is listed as a non smoking property, I did smell smoke a few times inside. Overall this property is very good and very close to attractions.

Fantastic location and friendly staff!

The hotel is well situated in the historical area of Istanbul. You're within a 5-10 minute walk to the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque as well as the hop on hop off bus service that provides tours throughout the city. The staff at the Celal Sultan are very friendly and helpful, especially when it comes to organizing airport transfers or tours (which needs to be paid at the reception). There is a wide variety of food and drink choices at the breakfast buffet. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Our only issue with the hotel is how thin the doors/walls/ceilings are. You can hear your neighbors talking from next door (or maybe upstairs) or noise from the corridor. However, there is not much that the hotel can do about this since this is a part of the hotel design. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for its good location, friendly and professional staff, and breakfast buffet.

This place is in heart of Sultanahmet area convenient for everything walking distance restaurants around many to choose . I stayed for 8 nights and enjoyed every minute of this place all employees from bell boy front desk housekeeping and kitchen are great very friendly helpful they treat you like family and that is exactly how i felt . This hotel have best terrace view i enjoyed every night sitting till late hours drinking tea and watching the view i will definitely go there again and i recommend everyone this hotel.

The Celal Sultan Hotel was 4 star maybe 40-50 years ago, today this hotel is at most 1 star! Location of the hotel is very good, and that is the only bright side. Rooms are extremely small and outdated. Included breakfast is mediocre at best. Staff is friendly, but that will not change your overall experience.

We made the reservation through hotel.com and our stay was couple of weeks ago for 3 nights . They guy at the front desk ( I don’t remember his name but he was an old , bald guy ) was not cooperative at all and questioned our reservation. He says the second person name is not there on the reservation so he can’t let the other person stay !! There was no area or indication to provide the names of all people on the booking area . Only number of people we are booking for was given which we did . Any way after little argument he gave us the room. I have been booking through hotel.com since long time and never had this issue. The over all hotel stay was ok , beds were not comfortable at all. They should improve the beddings and mattresses for the amount of money they charge. Breakfast was also just ok and it’s in downstairs dining hall. While other hotels in same location had roof top resturants with beautiful views of blue mosque and Hagia Sofia. So nothing was so special for the price they charge and on top of the crappy front desk service they provide:(

The location is absolutely perfect. It is less than a 5 minute walk to Hagia Sofia and about 10 to Blue Mosque. Breakfast was great starter. Rooms are small but nothing you wouldn't expect from being in Europe. There were a few things that needed to be fixed in the bathroom (broken doorknob and rainhead spout needed to be tightened) that didn't affect us but does take away from the overall feel. Front desk staff is so friendly!

Very friendly staff specially Mr.Kareem (who let me in a double room as I arrived morning before check-in time & transferred us next day to a super De-lux one I reserved) and Mr Suliman who was very kind & helpful in information & tour reservations . Moreover breakfast was great & barman always offered free water bottles and cofee/ tea bags any time. Bed linens & towels new, very clean & changed daily. In short we felt very comfortable & enjoined pleasant stay in a very nice friendly atmosphere.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was spacious with big windows for ventilation and comfortable. The neighborhood was also fantastic with good access to local cafes and restaurants. Chilling out with a hookah pipe on my hand and a decent cup of turkish coffee was an amazing experience. Nice rooftop bar with stunning view of Hagia Sophia. The staff were extremely kind, flexible, and accomodating. They offered me to keep my luggage before my departing flight to see the city more. I really appreciate the kind gesture. Overall, totally recommended.

The Celal Sultan was an amazing little hotel SO close to main attractions and public transportation. We could easily walk to everything or make connections. Around the corner from the famous cistern, and 2 blocks away from the Hagia Sophia and Blue Mosque, up the street from The Archeological Museum and Topakapi Palace. Breakfast each morning was world class. Rooftop view of Hagia Sophia is breathtaking. Local people are accommodating and generous. We will never stay anywhere else in Istanbul.

I loved the quiet street and superb location, really close to the main Sultanamet sites. The hotel staff answered all my emails promptly, and handled my airport transport to and fro. They also made arrangements with a very nice local tour group for a boat trip around the Bosphorus. The view of Haija Sophia from their terrace is absolutely lovely. The staff were terrific. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is an excellent location. However there is a feeling of slight decay, e.g. torn curtains in the bedroom, the lift floor being dirty and unswept. Also the hotel no longer has a restaurant. The breakfast buffet was underwheliming.

Superb location and wonderful staff - service was excellent. However the building and rooms are pretty tired. The air-conditioning unit in our room was faulty (staff switched us straight away to a different room so not a problem) and towels were frayed and tiles cracked. The restaurant on the roof terrace has been closed which is a real shame as the view is incredible. You can at least still have a drink up there. Lastly, breakfast was fine but it would have been nice to have fresh fruit and fresh coffee (rather than filter coffee from an urn).

All in all, we would stay there again. I'd recommend it for the location and the service, but not for travellers looking for luxury.
