Its stated free parking it isn't. We have to park 2km away from the hotel.

I booked for double bed which can fit 3pax and from the picture theres sofa bed .. but got twin bed instead with no sofa paid extra for nothing. Stated blacon with city view. But we get no balcon with full of wall blocking our window. And sound proofed stated?? But i can hear next door taking shower with their tv on!

No water were given in the room.. must ask and they only give us a bottle of 500ml. That's it! The drinking glass is dirty never washed! The toilet smell of sewage. And when ask for things.. the grumpy old women will give you the looked. They said wifi password in the room.. which we can't find any. Checked in at 9pm.. and ask for late check out, not available..(disapointed) Breakfast was so simple.. nothing extra.. not even extra drinks. Not even juice or fresh milk for my 3years old son. Very sleazy hotel.

Close to Sofia, blue mosque , metro and cistern .

The hotel was below my expectations . Molds around the tub.Shower head leaking and were told that it will be repaired but never happened, TV didn't even worked. No telephone in room so you go down to desk to ask for toilet paper etc. staff 95 % of them didn't speak English. Food handling was unsanitary we ended up with GI problems. Wished Expedia see these places before you book your customers.

Nice people but outdated hotel

While the hotel was in a great area, this hotel is outdated and needs help. I was there the end of October when the weather was cool. THe room they gave me had a draft. I complained that the heat was not working. The nice man at the front desk came to turn it on, but it never worked. At midnight I called the front desk, but no one answered so I put on every stich of clothing I owned. At 4 a.m. I went down to the front desk to wake up a man for a new room. He gave me a thin comforter and told me to check with the front desk in the morning. I did, and was given a room with a heater that eventually worked, but this was after trying about 6 rooms.

The front desk people were nice, but when I asked for a refund, was told that I must contact the booking agency I used.

THis hotel is in a great neighborhood, and has wonderful people, but if it is cold, I don't recommend staying here. The rooms are small and my rooms had a building backing up to them with no view at all.

The Best of Everything.

As a disabled man on holiday this hotel was perfect, The Basilica Cistern is a 30 second walk, The Hagia Sofya and the Topkapi Palace are across the road. The Blue Mosque is a 5 minute walk, you get the picture, everything is on the doorstep. The food in the Ares Hotel is excellent, try the Turkish and Ottoman menu, you will be pleasantly surprised, also the Turkish breakfast is first class. I was given help with everything. The Ares Hotel is not the biggest or the most famous but it's the hotel that I will go back to because it is friendly, central, good food and very helpful, why pay more. I am looking forward to my next visit to Istanbul and my stay in The Ares Hotel, Sultanahmet.

Great location

Very local to tourist spots. Many restaurants in area. Staff was great and tried their English skills. The room had not been swept well and the bed cover not clean but sheets were clean. Good breakfast.
Over all the hotel was great and I would stay there again.

Perfect Location!

You can't find a better location than this for tourism. Literally steps from the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, and Basillica Cistern. Short walk or tram ride (the T1 is right outside the door) to the Grand Bazzar, The Golden Bridge, and many ferry terminals.

The staff are all friendly and go out of their way to take care of you.
From the airport, you can take the M1a line to the T1 line and ride transit all the way to the hotel for 8 Lira.

Great service from a little great Hotel.

As soon as I arrived the staff delivered great service. They helped me with my bags and showed me around the hotel. They gave me information of the hotel, the neighborhood, and the city of Istanbul. The room was clean and spacious and they have restaurant on top of hotel with a breathtaking view of Istanbul. The stay was enjoyable and the staff was amazing.

Hotel rooms and bathrooms very small but staff friendly and helpful. Excellent central location literally minutes from Blue Mosque, cistern, Ayasofia and Topkapi Palace. Also very close to transport, restaurants and park. Within easy walking distance of Grand and spice bazaars.

Great budget hotel

The hotel room was small but clean and it is very close to all the major sites. The walls are not very sound proof but the clientele seems to be respectful of that. It is located on a side so only street foot traffic occurs. The staff speaks minimal English but are very friendly. I enjoyed waking to the morning prayers broadcasted over loud speakers from the mosques. There are no alarm clocks in the rooms so bring your own.

First of all l would like to Thanks to Mr SALUR and Mr Yousef because of their Hospitality. Perfect Location, Very close by Hagia Sophia and Mosque Blue.Hotel room very small but comfortable bed and very clean. Breakfast very simple , Hotel managetment should improve breakfast. Awful experience

The room was small so the sewage smell from the bathroom could be felt even from the bed. The staff acknowledged the issue but said it was normal and they could not do anything about it. I was there for 5 nights and was the worst experience I ever had at a hotel. The only reason I didn't leave was that my booking was paid for and non refundable. It's hard to give any positives. I've read a lot of good reviews so maybe it was my bad luck that I stayed on the second floor. I even changed rooms and it was worse. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

The best part of this hotel is location, 5 or 10 minutes walking distance from all important sites, staff was great, excellent restaurant on site, breakfast was okay; I see a problem on this hotel and is the bath tub (to high) for certain people including me, not international cable only local TV, taxi services don't go in front on the hotel due to the location, in right on the heart of Old City, hotel is really clean and the staff go out of their way to help you!!

Great location, easy to find. Very spotty wi-fi so not ideal hotel if you plan to do any work, checking-in for flights, etc... The room we were given was dark and the bathroom emitted a unpleasant odor (of sewer). The room window faced a concrete wall that was inches away from the hotel, add dark brown decor, dirty towels... not a pleasant stay. If all you do is plan to sleep in the room then the room conditions may not bother. But if you periodically go back to your room to fresh up before heading out again, the I would not recommend this hotel. The front desk staff were helpful in restarting the wifi and helping us when it kept going out.

Excellent! The location is in the middle of everywhere, right next to the Cistern, Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque. The personal at the hotel is very nice, they will help you with everything, they care about your money and always recomends you the best places, and always care for you that you pay the right amount for it. I had an experience that I lost my passport on a taxi, and thanks to their help I found it. Excellent!!

Central Location with Friendly Service

I travelled alone to Istanbul and chose this hotel for price and location. I felt I got a great deal. The service was friendly in a \"sit and have tea\" kind of way. Internet was spotty, which might be a problem if you stay here for business. Fine for posting pics at the end of a day. They gave me all the bottled water I wanted and breakfast was generous.

Perfect choice!

Nice experience! We've spent 4 nights here, me and my parents aged 80. The staff was always warm and helpful. And we were in position to be helped, my mother is walking with somthing like a wheel chair( she can walk but she must sit down after a while). There are a few stairs in front of the hotel and she was constantly helped. There is an elevator also. The rooms are clean but not big. The location is perfect! Just a few steps till the most important places to visit. There are a lot of restaurants around and the smell of good food in the air. From time to time the sound of the street is covered by the the music coming from Aya Sofia or Sultanahmet Camii...and it's just perfect to understand the whole spirit of the town. And if you are in mood for shoping, if it's not enough what is all along Divan Yolu, you will find the Grand Bazar after a 10 minutes walk. I intend to come back with my husband and I will stay here again!

The good: The staff (especially John at reception) is super friendly and accommodating. They go above and beyond in recommending places to eat, shop and explore the city and we truly enjoyed their company. Breakfast is freshly prepared and tasty. The hotel is right in the heart of everything and public transportation and sightseeing are only short walk away. The bad: Rooms are quite rough around the edges (patched wall here and there, dusty ceilings, small and sometimes smelly bathrooms). We realize that in this neighborhood most buildings are old and rooms small, but the accommodation was underwhelming. Perhaps this was just the floor (2nd) or room we stayed in, but not likely to stay there again.

hotel close to everything, but the bathroom smells

The hotel is hard to find (tucked in a small street),but is in the heart of the tourist district just above the ancient Cistern and steps from Haya Sophia. The view from the terrace restaurant is just stunning: Haya Sophia, the Blue mosk and Top Kapi palace are in plain unobstructed view on the background of the Bosphorus and Asia. Tons of restaurants around. Very nice staff, generally clean rooms in very good condition. However, the bathroom reeks of some bad smell from the drain. Could be common for this old city area, but is definitely quite annoying.

Great location

This hotel was not up to chain standards i.e. missing toilet paper holders, and towel racks etc, but clean. There is also a bit of an odor in the washrooms, but otherwise, its a GREAT location and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. So, if you are not spending a lot of time in your room, I recommend this place upon pricing.

We spent 1 night before and 2 nights after a Black Sea Cruise in the Ares Hotel. The location was really wonderful. Right close to all the most important tourist sites in Istanbul and equally close to the tram to take you anywhere else you wish to go. We enjoyed eating on the roof terrace twice, and in the sidewalk café once. Food and atmosphere were both good. A nice complementary breakfast was served in the lobby level café. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is small and located in an old building that has been renovated. The rooms are small, but clean and have all the necessities provided. This hotel is a very good value.

Great location, value, and rooftop terrace.

We had a small issue with hotel check-in clerk, but the owner resolved the issue adequately. Probably as part of the attempt to correct the mis-understanding with the check-in clerk over transportation to the airport, the owner suggested we take a drink (purchased elsewhere) up to the roof-top terrace; which we did, and it was lovely. The food was excellent, as we stayed and purchased dinner which we thoroughly enjoyed with the Aya Sofia seemingly yards away from us. The rooms are pretty small, but we don't spend time in the room while vacationing anyway. The relatively economical rate for such a great location would allow me to recommend it to any budget-minded traveler. Breakfast was included and very adequate in a pleasant street-level \"café.\" It included the first \"real\" orange juice I had encountered in our two-week trip in Turkey which included nights in much more expensive hotels booked for us by a tour company. We scheduled additional nights in Istanbul once we finished our tour which is why we ended up at this hotel. I would recommend for price and location.

The staff is nice but want give you info on anything but tours. Oh there transport to/from hotel is very expensive look at other shuttle services ( I used istanbul express& paid 40 euros round trip)

The hotel is perfectly located for major attractions and very close to the tram. The price is reasonable for the hotel. Rooms are small but have everything you need, including a small refrigerator and safe. Breakfast was above average, including fruit, cheese, breads, bologna, boiled eggs and drinks. Service was excellent at the front desk and in the restaurant (including a late dinner). One thing to consider is that the rooms facing the street are bright with decent views, but there the rooms not facing the street are dark and make the small rooms seem smaller. This could make a big difference in the opinion of the rooms. Overall, good value for the money.

Great location, great service, slightly noisy

The hotel is run by very friendly staff in an excellent location just strides away from the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Cisterna Basilica, etc. It is tucked away on a little side street and they offer breakfast each morning. I stayed on the 4th floor and it was a bit noisy as there is a bar on the roof and I could hear chairs moving around, but it didn't keep me awake at night. The upstairs bar is nice, albeit pricey, and offers very nice views of the Hagia Sophia. The staff was very courteous and willing to help, though they were very adamant about having us post a review, even before we were finished with our stay!

Great place to stay in the heart of Sultanahmet

The hotel is located on a small pedestrian street filled with restaurants. The location is second to none - 50 metres to the Basillica Cistern and 100 metres to the Hag Sophia and Blue Mosque. The staff were always trying to please and willing to offer suggestions for touring that were very helpful. Can't say enough about Ihan at the front desk, who was always smiling and polite as well as the staff at morning breakfast.

Since Hotel Ares was under-going maintenance, they lodged us at 'The Million Stone'. We would have appreciated some sort of a pre-alert from their side rather than be taken to this hotel in the middle of the night, but, their representative assured us that this hotel would be fine and our stay would be comfortable - and they lived up to their commitment. The hotel was ideally located i.e. very close to some of the most important historical sites (Grand Bazar, Blue Mosque, Sofiya Hagia) including the terminal/harbor for Cruise on the Bosphorus etc.). The tram station was very close by and convenient to access places like the Taksim Square. The Hotel staff was extremely helpful, pleasant and made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. All in all -a fantastic experience!!

The room was clean, the guy at the desk friendly, the bed comfortable. However the large windows that should have opened to a balcony opened to a big grey concrete wall - I kid you not. Still, it was a comfortable room and my stay was short so I would say it was a bargain.

Ares Hotel Sultanahmet Review

Overall the hotel was ok and in a great location. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is old and we experienced many power outtages during our stay. The longest was 24 hours without power, hot water, internet, lighting and freezing without power. It was difficult to sleep knowing the hotel didn't have any emergency lighting and used candles which was very dangerous in such an old building. The emergency egress stairwell was loaded with boxes and not accessible. When I asked management if I could cut my stay short and move to a neighboring hotel with power, they said I would not be reimbursed for the room the remaining three days. I thought the service was horrible. My room was non-refundable, even without power. I do not recommend this hotel.

Very friendly staff who always made us feel welcome. Ideally situated for all of the historical sights. Wonderful breakfast. Comfortable. Because the hotel is so close to everything it was sometimes a little noisy between 11 AM and 1AM.

Near all the attractions of the Old City

The room was fine. There were three things that disappointed me:

a) The wifi never worked properly, regardless of whether I was trying to access it from my bedroom or downstairs in the dining room
b) The breakfast was dull
c) I asked for a glass of wine at 11.15 in the evening and was spoken to in a rude manner and no attempt was made to get the wine.

Other than that, it was all OK. And the location is fantastic.

I found Ares hotel accidentally but it was a great surprise when me and my friend came here. The atmosphere in the hotel is very warm, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.Especially Thanks to Mr AYHAN. He help us very much. You can get very useful suggestions about any activity in Istanbul from him. The most important thing about the hotel is that its location is perfect. You can reach any object of interest (Hagia Sophia, Cystern, Topkapi palace, Blue Mosque, etc.) on foot. The food is just wonderful, Lets try the ARES!!!

I've been staying for 7 days with my family (2 child). The hotel is very reasonable priced, its in the centre of the tourist district (excellent location), have breakfast included plus free internet connection. The staff are so kind too. Walking distance to the most important and historical places in Istanbul. The rooms are very small but clean and comfortable. The best at hotel is the staff, they are friendly, good engish spiking, polite, kind and help you in everything, thanks especially Mr, Ayhan Salur for his hospitality and efficiency. Ask them anything you need to know and you will get most efficient way to solve. The only troubles I had were Internet connection several times, but when its OK the speed were excellent, video streaming worked perfectly.

Great choice: perfect location, attentive service

From the owner to each staffer, the folks at Ares Hotel want to make your stay comfortable. Clearly they take great pride in the place and their work. The lobby and hallways look brand new. The hotel is literally a minute or two walk to the Hagia Sophia. It's amidst dozens of restaurants with $10-15 entrees (including its in-house \"Hotel Palmiye Restaurant\", with a cafe out front, a 1st-floor and an outdoor rooftop restaurant with great views). The owner offered to show me a couple rooms and gave me a choice. It's the smallest room/bed/shower I've ever been in, but certainly adequate for one person. Plenty of outlets for charging computer and phone (bring adaptor, of course). The AC worked fine, and could be beeped up and down a few degrees from bed with a remote control. I was on the 4th floor overlooking the busy pedestrian-only alley in front of the hotel, and noise wasn't a problem. There were a couple mothballs in the sink, apparently to keep any bugs in check, but it's easy enough to close the bathroom door if you happen not to like that aroma. A previous guest's hairs were on the throw pillow on my bed each day, but everything else was immaculate, and I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

Jag bodde hos olika hotell i mitt liv men jag har aldrig bott hos sånt hotell.allt var jätte dålig.jag rekommenderar inte någon som kommer uppleva/få dålig känsla som jag. Drivaren var grinig, personaler ger dålig service.t.ex man vågar inte fråga ifall man får ett glas vatten p.g.a personalen blir griniga. Städningen var jätte dålig.ingen Bytte påslakan som var slitna,smutsiga. Man får känsla som om ingen jobbar där som vill se dig där på hotellet.

Lage sehr zentral personal sehr freundlich.s-bahn gleich in der nähe und der Flughafen transport mit dem bus von havaist auch nur 150m.

Wir waren für 10 Nächte in diesem Hotel.
Die Lage ist top definitiv sehr zentral. Aber dass Hotel sehr schlecht. Zimmer sehr klein, unhygienisch, sehr hell hörig, Fenster gehen nicht zu. Bad ist ekelhaft. Ich würde es niemandem empfehlen.

Klein hotel

Alle bezienswaardigheden op loopafstand. Geweldig personeel, je kon er alles vragen en dan hielpen ze je ook als het kon. Jammer van het ontbijt, iedere morgen kreeg je een bord met hetzelfde, het was geen lopend buffet. En bij Expedie staat dat er balkons zijn, maar die zijn er niet, maar dat is niet hun fout, maar van Expedia
