Aybar Hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of most major sites within the Faith district. The rooms are nice however we had issues with our shower not draining properly and creating a pool of water. This did not stop us enjoying our stay. The staff are great and try their best to assist even with language barriers. Thanks for looking after us Aubar

The hotel is centrally located, which is great. If you are physically impaired at all, this is not the hotel for you. To enter you have to go down quite a fewfairly steep stairs.
The rooms are nice and clean.the staff are lovely and very helpful. 7 mins walk to the Bazaar and 10 mins to Basiical Cistern and other main attractions. We did like the loaction a lot.

There is a ine thing in the Istanbul and it was same in Antalya - everyone is trying to rip you off, taxi drivers especially which is destroying the whole Turkey experience. I fi comapre to Dubai or Qatar where evryone is nice to the customers and nobody would dare to rip you off as they are controlled by governent ,makes the experience so much enjoyable .

Good Hotel for Central Istanbul

The first night we had a problem with the room but the hotel staff were very helpful and organized a room change for us. The staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel is amazing everything is in walking distance! They do not have the AC working in the winter months which is understandable but it can get very hot in the rooms and when you open the window it can be very noisy as there was a lot of construction going on around. The rooms could also be a little bit cleaner. Would recommend overall.

The property itself was clean and convenient. But what we saw in the pictures it was misleading for the breakfast.

Super well located for tourism, a couple minutes walking from Hagia Sofia and that busy center area.

Now the staff..
This was by far the best staff I've ever seen.
All smiles from the first \"Hello\". It really couldn't be better.
Real humans! Good people!
In our third day there they noticed it was my Mom's birthday and we were surprised with the entire staff singing and hugging around a piece of Cake and candles!! Like, who does that??
Our housekeeping became like family, even though we couldn't understand a word from each other's mouths. The feeling was there. We shared deep stories and tears with our dear Vildan. What a beautiful person she is!
And special thanks to Kerem, now a dear friend! Who found out I'm vegan and surprised us with Almond milk and vegan chocolate! Another talented and beautiful person.

So I guess you can see my appreciation for them here.

I'm so happy that I have choose the Aybar Hotel in Istanbul which is close to all tourist attractions.

Staff is sooo helpful!!! The hotel is super clean, quiet, and the area around the hotel is safe. I would highly recommend it! Only side is that tje staff need a ramp at the entrance for the luggages. Staff had to carry up and down to the lobby. There is elevator to the rooms, so the owner or big boss help these guys! They are amazing and super hardworking!!!

The stay was great from beginning to end. They sent me pictures of the meeting spot so i could find my transport easier. Everyone at the front desk was so helpful and accommodating. Great location, close to everything and the tramway. When i was leaving for the airport, i left before breakfast was set up, so they made me a sandwich to take on the plane! What a nice surprise!

Thebroom wa spacious but the floorboards looked really old and looked like it needed renovating. The bathroom was so small that you couldnt get into the shower unless you closed the door. The bathroom sink was broken and the floor was dirty. The pillows were so low and when I asked for 2 extra pillows, the maid made a face at me. I asked for clean towels as all our towels had stains on them and did not look clean. I noticed the whole 3 nights we stayed the maids didnt change our bed sheets, just did up the bed. I once asked for them to be changed and she told me they didnt need to be changed. The location is great and so close to the tram station but i found it difficult to be comfortable as the room was a little icky.

Overall stay was ok. We asked for taxi to airport from hotel and found out the taxi meter was off. Talking to the driver we found out taxi driver and hotel have a deal to charge us extra. Don’t ask the hotel to get you taxi, use uber which is basically hiring yellow taxis cause private uber hiring is not operational in Turkey yet.

The only reason I booked this because I stayed here when it was brand new 6 years ago, seems like they don’t maintained the property, whatever broke it never got fixed or repaired and front desk was terrible , rude and don’t know how to talk to guests, I don’t think he know what service industry is all about , we booked a room at upper floor and gave us the room in basement and keep claiming that they gave us bigger room and we should be thankful, being an international tourist destination I would expect little bit better English speaking / understanding I can go on a on , so do your self a favor and look some other property

The guy Sinan is cheat he when we arrived there he said do you want to pay for transport now the airport shuttle then he said do you want to pay for return journey as I said yes. So he said pay £40 and thats sorted.
Day before our check out I spoke to him and he said your taxi is booked for tomorrow.
In the morning when I enquire the reception staff they said nothing is booked.
I said I spoke to sinan yesterday and he said its booked. He went inside and came out and said he wants you to pay more money I said i paid him on arrival and he said you paid both ways.
He said he is incharge and I can't say anything I said tell him to come out and speak with me but he never came out at end we paid 80 liras more to get a taxi he is scammer and liar.

Would not recommend anyone dealing with him.

Rude and very aggressive customer service. Receptionists do speak English fairly well but they lack courtesy and respect to their customers. Several related incidents took place that are pointless to list in details, last was when thanking the receptionist and saying good bye upon checkout, there was no reply back till I repeated thank you once again and to my surprise, his reply was so rude by saying one word (OK)!!!!! I would never stay there again and recommend people considering staying in this hotel to reconsider this option or at least be prepared for the staffs’ rudeness

Excellent stay at Aybar, me and my wife had an absolutely pleasant time in istanbul which which was complemented very well by Aybar. The hotel is absolutely great for any age, couples or not. Very clean, and staff are always at hand to answer questions and provide you with anything you might need. What makes everything 100x better is that everything is so close by to the hotel. The tram, the blue mosque, topkapi, Hagia Sofia, I caught a taxi only once in my stay, only because I didn’t find out about he tram. I recommend this hotel for sure to anyone! 10/10

Our stay was great until the guy on the desk (the guy with the tie) was extremely rude to us when were checking out , we checked 2 rooms out at 10 am and requesting that the third one to be checked out 2 hrs later, the manager agreed and he say no problem but at check out that guy ask for 150 TL which principally not was acceptable to us because we agreed with the manager to check out 2 rooms earlier and one for 2 hours late.

Small hotel located on a quite street yet location is very good. Everything you need or want to see is within walking distance or close to public transport ( which is cheap and efficient). Staff were friendly and helpful when needed. Do offer extra services such as guided tours but I did not use. Room I had was a bit tight/small but my daughter and I managed. If there was any advice I would give the hotel is an improvement on their breakfast which was limited and basic. For this reason I would recommend anybody wanting to stay at this hotel to opt out of breakfast and eat at one of the restaurants on your doorstep. Overall I would recommend this hotel - small but clean, safe, friendly and good value.

Hotel advertise in expdia to have ‘climate control air conditioning/heat’ in all rooms. I arrived and hotel manager was very rude and loud. He refused to turn on the air condition even that my room was extremely hot 30+ degrees. Couldn’t sleep all nights.

Everything about Istanbul was amazing except going back to Aybar hotel at night. It was hell!! I recommend you stay away.

Disgustingly Racist and a Rip-off

I checked in and a male friend who was to show me the city; came with me to my room to discuss our plans for an evening out around the city. The duty manager told me that I was not allowed to have anyone in my room as I booked a single.

My mate was not staying with me; he was there to discuss our plans for an evening out.

The duty manager said “you dirty Jew b******s can get stuffed”. He said ‘this is not Hotel rule just my rule just for Jews”.

I was disgusted by his attitude and I checked out immediately and said I would make a complaint.

Just finished my stay at the Aybar hotel and if I could sum it up in one word it would be disappointing. I stayed here for 4 nights.

Let's start with the first day, the location of the hotel is very good, a couple of minutes away from the tram line and a stones throw away from most of the attractions, when I arrived at the hotel and given my key card, I went up to my room and it was nothing like the pictures. The room is small and very basic. There's no balcony and the room is very dull and unappealing. The bed was reasonably comfortable and shower was very nice. Basic amenities were supplied.

Now moving on to the BIGGEST problem! The air conditioning in the room does not work! Keep in mind that Istanbul is currently seeing temperatures over 30 degrees Celsius! The temperature gauge to control the fan would work but the fan itself would not cool the room at all, in fact it was cooler outside than inside my room. So on the first night at 23:30 I went down to reception to see if I could change room because I honestly could not sleep in the heat and that is no exaggeration. I was told by reception to come back in half hour to see the manager, I returned where I was told that the manager is still not here but to go back to my room because the air conditioning would be fine in 10 mins. So I returned to my room, and the air conditioning didn't start to work but it was nearly 1 in the morning, I was tired and just couldn't be bothered so I went to sleep.

Very close to some nice restaurants in the old city as well as a convenient walk to some of the top tourist attractions of the city including the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque and Sofia Museum. It's also about a 30 min walk to the north side of town where it's a bit hipster and new. The tram is also a very easy walking distance. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was surprisingly quite decent every morning.

The hotel was great. Great service. Very Clean. The staff very polite and helpful. The manager helped us so much and gave us great tips. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to others.

Great Location Close to Major Attractions

The Aybar Hotel is right in the middle of all the Major attractions in Sultanhamet. You can walk to these or catch the tram to the Spice Bazaar or Galata Bridge, whatever suits your needs. I have stayed in other hotels in this area and although they were good I found Aybar to be very clean and cheerful. The bed was very comfortable, TV worked well, shower was hot, noise was low. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. I needed a transfer on my last day and this was cheerfully arranged by Ayca and they stored my luggage while I did some sightseeing before my bus arrived. Overall a pleasant experience. Thank you Ayca and the staff at Aybar Hotel

Excellent

Staff went out of their way to be exceptionally friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast, perfect location, and spotlessly clean. The hotel is new and modern within five minutes to the most important attractions. I'll be back here for sure.

5D4N trip to Istanbul

We stayed at Aybar for 4 nights. Upon arrival, the receptionist was really warm and welcoming which lifted our spirits after a long and tiring flight from Singapore. She had left an excellent first impression of the hotel and the kind of service that we would be expecting during our stay. Many thumbs up to the Lady Receptionist!

The room was delightfully clean and tastefully decorated when we first entered it - which brought a huge relief to us as we were just so tired after our flight and could not wait to tuck into the clean sheets. The toilet was very clean too and my wife especially liked the rain shower.

The breakfast service was another highlight of our stay. It was convenient for us to have our fill of energy for our daily activities, without having to worry about traveling out of the hotel (and opening hours). On top of that, we had the pleasure of being served by Dayana every morning. She was very helpful with us and catered to all our needs readily, and never failed to greet us cheerfully every morning. A smile always goes a long way (especially in the morning!)

Last but not least, sharing the same sentiments as most of the other reviewers here: the location is awesome. We didn't spend a single Lira on transportation during our stay except for our cab fares to and from the airport (disclaimer: we just explored the main sights in Sultanahmet area, furthest we walked to was the Galata Bridge).
