1) The location is excellent for sightseeing, only a 10 minute walk to Aghia Sophia, Blue Mosque and Topkari Palace. A tram stop is a two minute walk, and the nearest metro station is about 8 minutes walk.

2) Clean. The room cleaning lady does a great job.

3) Cheap for a historic centre (but you'll quickly see why, see below)

4) Good pressure shower!

Minuses:

1) Many rooms are located at the back of the building with not-so-great views (house under construction) or NO views at all. Rooms on our side had a solid wall of rendering about 1.5 meter away from the window. So no natural light at all, you just see the wall.

2) The breakfast is very limited and products are of really poor quality, some seem to be reused.

3) Very bad Wi-Fi, particularly in the evening. It took me 2 days of complaining to get a better WiFi (they have two WiFi networks, the second seems to be reserved only for those who complain).

4) The back of the building also houses a large air-conditioning unit, so if you're unfortunate like us, you will lie there trying to sleep but hear it switching on and off.

5) If like us, you're unlucky to get a room next to the elevator, prepare for constant noise.

6) This location, surrounded by many cafe and restaurants, also means that you will get constantly hassled by restaurant people as you pass by. Not the hotel's fault, but gets very tiring after a while.

7) The quality of finishing in rooms is poor.

Good about this hotel -

Location - Excellent as you are close to the main sights and a tram stop is 2 minute walk away.
Facilities/Services - Lift available which was very useful, laundry, breakfast and arranging travel.
Service - Most of the receptionist staff spoke English and were very helpful with arranging excursions or anything we needed help with. They almost always had someone at reception too.
Roof - Nice view of the Blue Mosque and a lot of the city.
Price - Better value than the hotels that are supposed to be competing with this hotel.

Bad about the hotel -

Rooms - The bathrooms were VERY small.
Facilities - There was very low water pressure in the bathrooms, the lowest in any hotel i've ever stayed at. The AC was also quite weak. Some rooms appeared to have a newer AC and different showerhead which compensated a tad for the low water pressure. They also didn't have a do not disturb hanger to hang outside the door, so if you were napping after a long walk you would be woken up by the cleaning staff unless you told reception in advance. Also, if you were staying on the first floor, you hear a lot of sound inside and outside of the hotel.

Overall review -

If you are on a budget, honestly this is a hotel I would stay at again if I was on a tight budget. It's better than a lot of the hotel which are competing with it in terms of price range.

The hotel location is great, surrounded with many restaurants, shops and most of historical places at the middle of the old town. but the room size was shocking, it's about 14 square meter for three persons. knowing that when I reserved this room it was written 20 square meter. otherwise, the staff were friendly and great.

Staff very friendly and helpful. A good breakfast is included in the price. However, the rooms are small and the bed is only a double. The bathroom is very small and the bathroom fittings could do with an overhaul. The location is just about as good as it gets being a two minute walk from the Sultanahmet centre.

The hotel is located in a street parallel to sultnahmet station (which is very known and near ayia sophia) and next to lots of small grocery stores and mostly restaurants.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. They gave us lots of advices and tips for our trip.
Overall cleanliness is good. They give you towels and can clean your mess everyday. But could be better regarding bedsheets, bathroom..
The breakfast is fine for what are you paying. Savory and sweet food available with your choice of coffee, milk, juice, tea...

The location of the hotel is excellent – a couple of minutes walk to the Sultanahmet tram stop, and within five minutes you can reach the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and Topkapi Palace. The staff members are very helpful and courteous.

However the size of the bedrooms lets the hotel down. We booked a standard double room, and it was very small. The room had a small wardrobe, a small TV on the screen (no international channels), two bedside cabinets, a small minibar fridge and a double bed. Finding a place in the room to put our suitcases and shopping bags so we wouldn’t be falling over them was quite a struggle. The toilet/shower room is also quite small.

The breakfast options could do with more diversity – perhaps a continental breakfast offering along with the Turkish offering they already have.

In a nutshell, for location and staff I’d give it 8-9 out of 10. For the room and breakfast, 4-5 out of 10.

However, the price we got for our stay was very good. So I guess, you get what you pay for.

Hotel ok for one or two nights. But don't go if you have any accessibility issues. Lift very small and the breakfast is only available from a room reachable only from a very narrow spiral staircase.

We booked this placing after reading the reviews online. We have stayed at other budget hotels in the past and had really positive experiences. This place was not so great.

The location was the best thing about this place. Minutes away from the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and lots of shops.

When we arrived the place has changed its name and confused our taxi driver about where to drop us.

The place is quite old and worn out. The pictures online were very deceiving of what the hotel actually looks like. The rooms were very small and grotty. The walls of the rooms were really thin so you could hear people all night. The people in the room next door were smoking and we could smell the smoke in our room.

The hotel is called a boutique hotel but I would say its far from that. The breakfast was cold every morning as there no heated trays for the food. The Turkish breakfast was very basic. We were really looking forward to the infamous Turkish breakfast. We ended up eating breakfast outside of the hotel most days.

I think this place may have been nicer when it first open but I wouldn't say it is anymore.

Having been to Istanbul before I think you can get other budget hotels that are of a much better standard and quality and I would not stay here again.

Great Hotel @ Great Location!

I have now stayed at this hotel 5 times. This used to be Aladdin Hotel but the ownership changed recently and it's now called Hotel Aldem.
I didn't give it the best rating at check-in as I found a few things out of order. But I must say that within a day or so the staff had everything fixed and I was impressed with the response and effort. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again myself.

The hotel's location is very close to sultanahmet mosque, hagia sophia, topkapi, tramvay station. The hotel is small, cozy, very clean, lots of choice for breakfast, the view from the top terrace directly overlooking sultanahmet mosque, all the receptionist is very good, very friendly people from the kitchen. I am very grateful to Erdal receptionists, who always taught how to go somewhere with tramvay public transport, metro and bus, he takes care of my trip to Trabzon and take care of my pickup. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Great Option for Lodging!

This was my third time staying at the Aladdin. I love this little hotel the location is perfect in the heart of SultanAhmet very close to the Blue Mosque, Haagia Sophia and all! Its also very close to the SultanAhmet Tram station!
The breakfast is amazing and the terrace is a bonus!
I highly recommend it and plan to stay there in future too.

A Great Deal!

This hotel was a great deal for the price. My single room was small but comfortable. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the breakfast buffet was fine, nothing to complain about there. The location is superb for tourists, since it's near the major tourist attractions and just a few steps away from the Sultanahmet tram station and the Marmaray Station.

The hotel is very well located in a quiet back street close to all the sights in Sultanahmet. I arrived late at night and had booked into the smallest single room. Although small it was good enough for a very short stay. However, the corridor light outside the room was not working which is a bit off putting at night - to have to go into a darkened hallway and try to find the lock in pitch black (this still had not been fixed 3 days later).
What surprised me was the very strong smell of cigarette smoke in the room although I had specified a non-smoking room on booking. As it was very late I decided to put up with this as I was tired from my journey.
The next morning I reported this to the manager who was very surprised to hear my complaint as the hotel was entirely non-smoking (signs specifying no smoking). He asked the cleaner who was near reception at the time. She confirmed that someone had been smoking in that room. He immediately gave me another room on the same floor to minimise my inconvenience. It was a nice double and very comfortable.
He also gave me some handy tips on where to go in Istanbul further a field as I had been there several times before.
Top marks for the service. Would stay again and perhaps book the double as it was a nicer room.

Perfect lil hotel located perfectly!!

This was my second time staying at Aladdin and it not only met, but exceeded my expectations.
The location is perfect, especially if you want to be equally close to all major Sultan Ahmet attractions including the Sultan Ahmet Tram Station.
But being so close, it is fortunately also on a little street with a couple of govt. buildings taking up the entire other side of the street.
Point being, that it is close to all humdr but surprisingly quiet & peaceful at the same time!!
The staff is great and very helpful....!
Breakfast seating area and food are top notch!! Love it!!

Friendly Hotel and a Great location

If you are sightseeing in Istanbul and wish to stay in close proximity to major sites, then this is your hotel. We really enjoyed our stay in this small family friendly hotel. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Our room although small was clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was very good and plenty serving both Continental and Turkish so you have a choice. There was tea and coffee available in the lobby for guests. Internet connection was very good. There is an elevator serving all 5 floors which was great if you had heavy luggage. I really appreciated that the cleaning staff went the extra mile in arranging our luggage so we had extra space. Unfortunately, I didn't get to thank them. Alaadin has all the amenities a hotel could provide and we had a very pleasant stay. We will definitely stay here on our next visit

Istanbul's Aladdin

Although with some modern amenities i.e., wi fi, shower, elevator, etc., quarters are still quite small. Bedding hard. Restroom door could not open completely because sink was in the way. The electrical outlet wiring exposed in my restroom so I was unable to use to charge up my electronics. There was another outlet by bed which had wi fi hot spot connected but I could not use that either because European a/c adapter too wide. Including the one offered by front desk staff. I had no recourse but to charge my gadgets in the lobby. Which indirectly turned out to be the best hotel feature. I was able to taste the varied complementary Turkish teas & was pampered with said teas, water, reading material and overall great information about Istanbul, its beauty & culture by the young man, Sahin, who attends the evening front desk shift & speaks excellent English.
I loved the \"bones\", decor, location & staff of Aladdin Hotel. Will definitely give it another go when I travel to Istanbul again.

Great location for exploring Sultanahmet.

This hotel was satisfactory for everything my friend and I required during our stay. 5minute walk to the main sights in the old town, close to many nice restaurants and bars, quiet as on a side street, great rooftop view, plentiful breakfast choice and very central for heading out in different directions for other sights.
Staff were helpful - Shine - the evening receptionist was friendly and offered some great advice.
Only negative was that taxi drivers could not find it. I suggest arranging transport in advance from the airport.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Istanbul but certainly preferred Sultanahmet to the newer side (Taksim, Beyoglu). We are 2 Western girls and felt more at ease during the evening in the old (touristy) part of the city. It was very beautiful but be prepared for queue's at the major sights. Take a boat trip on the Bosphorous - I bartered a 2 hour journey for 10TL each. Well worth it.

This was the second time we stayed at the Alaaddin hotel.The location is superb, the hotel itself nice and clean, and staff very friendly and helpful. The rooms are rather small, so if you pack more than 1 suitcase for your trip, look for something else. The only downside was the absense of a light bulb in the bathroom above the sink. The overhead light was quite dim, and it was difficult for my husband to shave (and impossible for me to apply makeup). We asked to put the lightbulb in, but for some reason it was never done. The breakfasts were simple but good -- cheese, tomatoes, olives and pastries. Very pleasant experience overall. We'll be back.

The affordable rate especially suited my 10 night conference / research trip stay and I found the hotel wholly adequate for my needs: convenient location, clean and comfortable rest, delicious breakfast provided, and adequate internet access. Location was perfect as I was working mainly at Süleymaniye library within walking distance. For those visiting the main sites of the historic peninsula (Topkapı Palace, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Çemberlitaş Baths, Grand Bazaar, etc. etc.) it is exceptionally convenient. Otherwise, reaching other parts of the city (for conference and leisure) was also incredibly convenient as the hotel is located so near tram stops along Divanyolu Caddesi, falling between Sultanahmet (closest down the hill) and Çemberlitaş (just up the hill). Hotel staff were attentive and helpful and I felt quite safe though traveling alone. Room was small but comfortable and attended daily with clean towels, etc. Bed was comfortable and in room bathroom with shower was perfectly adequate. Clothes closet was plenty spacious. Roosters and other animals could be heard in the early morning but were not a great bother, especially with window closed. Breakfast was a special pleasure with Turkish fare (olives, cheese, tomato, cucumber, boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt even freshly made börek most mornings) and also various meats (I am vegetarian), sweet breads, cereal, etc. with tea and coffee and juice. Lovely view from the breakfast room and roof top terrace. Internet access was provided (seemingly with a router for each floor) and connectivity was generally good to very good. I had no difficulty conducting my online work.

Seemed nice before I stayed here.

I was very pleased upon arrival with my hotel and the room was very clean and pleasant.
I did; however, find it extremely difficult to sleep because of a chicken facility nearby.

I never expected this and it certainly was noisy at night while I was trying to sleep.

My first experience with Alaaddin Boutique Hotel

I visited Alaaddin’s website. It said, \"Free cab to airport if you stay five nights at this hotel.\" I and my daughter stayed five nights (two rooms). They did not provide free cab ride to us when we pointed this to them. My daughter paid full price for her ride to airport (90 t). I talked to their manager (nice guy) he said, \"We do not provide free cab ride to airport if you book our hotel through Expedia or through a travel agent\". He charged me 50 Lira instead of 90 Lira.
In my opinion this policy is bad for their business and it is bad for Expedia. They should provide same service to all customers. I and my daughter expected a free cab ride to airport.
The breakfast was very good. I did not see low calories sweeteners.
The room smelled very bed sometime. The smell was from the toilet.
The bad were small for tall people and mattress was very hard. We experience back pain after sleeping on it.

My room, which I reserved thru Hotels.com was not as described. 18sq mtrs was more like 12, no balcony (hotel has none) , washer/dryer nonexistent, and a separate sitting area, well, you couldn't put a chair in the room, it was small. I fault Hotels.com for incorrect information, and as I found out with other stays in Turkey, The innkeepers tell me they try to correct what is on the website, but hotels.com never makes changes. The room was small and functional, the bath the same. Breakfast was good each day, staff was friendly and the location was superb, close to everything in the old city and the tram line. Good choice except for the pâté medley false information on website which I will take up with hotels.com

Amazing Location

The location of the hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to all the major tourist attracts in the old town district. A major plus for me. The staff is very accommodating and the rooms are clean. The only two negatives are the beds which are hard as a rock. Unless you prefer that type of bed it takes some getting use too. Additionally smoking is allowed in the hotel and can seep into your room. There is nothing more disgusting that second hand smoke from a neighboring room. Overall if i were to be back in Istanbul I probably wouldn't find my self at this hotel, however there are A LOT worse out there.

Great hotel but...

Cant beat the location ( 5 min from Blue Mosque, 10 min from Bazaar), morning breakfast with wonderful Bosphorus views, friendly staff. My only 2 gripes are the size of the room (tiny)& comfort of the bed (horrible) and the fact that everything smelled like smoke (hallways, lobbies, etc). I know the 2nd cant be solved as the Turks love their tobacco but the bed situation should be looked into.

Hotel location was excellent being in the heart of the Sultanahmet area of the city and within a few minutes’ walk of the “Sultanahmet” tram stop (note that the airport can be reached easily and cheaply from this same tram stop.) Many of the major sites and points of interest are within walking distance notably the Blue Mosque, Haghia Sophia, the Hippodrome and the Grand Bazaar. The hotel staff are warm, welcoming and very helpful, with the cleanliness of my room being of a good standard. The breakfast buffet was also very good. In summary, the hotel was good value for what I paid and I would stay there again.

If you have a nice room,,,

Good location, good breakfast. But room is fairy small. First room has no proper window, just tiny skylight, I was chocked, feeling in a prison cell. 2nd night has a better room but hardly move around in a room. People in the hotel are nice enough.

Nice hotel in central location

I stayed 8 nights, in a clean comfortable room, with friendly staff.

The location was excellent: 1 minute from a range of good restaurants, 2 minutes walk from the T1 tram (which takes you quickly and directly to many of the main tourist sights), and 5 minutes walk from the Blue Mosque, Agia Sofia and Topkapi Palace.

Great locatiojn, tight quarters

The location of the hotel is superb, very close to Hagia Sofia and Blue Mosque. However, the room (while called a \"standard\") was the size of a walk-in closet. My husband and I are quite slim, and we usually don't mind small rooms while traveling, but this was the tiniest room we have seen. The full sized bed practically filled it, and we barely had room to get in and out of it. The suitcases didn't fit under the bed and had to be placed along the wall. We kept bumping into them. We had to keep moving our hand luggage around, placing it in front of the entrance door for the night, so we don't trip on the way to the bathroom. The wardrobe was tiny, and the hangers looked like rejects brought from home. We could barely hang 7 items of closing in there. The bathroom was also tiny, and the plumbing was loud, but it was clean. For some reason, we were repeatedly given only one hand towel for the both of us, though we asked for the 2nd towel at the front desk, and were promised we'll get it. We didn't. The breakfast was good, though the choice of fruit was disappointing (mellon and watermellon only every single morning). At the same time the grocery store next door had abundance of figs, peaches, plums and grapes which were dirt cheap. The advertised \"freshly baked goods\" were also unremarkable except for the last day of our stay. But the staff was very friendly and helpful, and we were told that some rooms are bigger. If this is indeed so, we'll probably come again.

Our first 3 nights of our 1 month trip to Europe and this place was one of the best that we stayed in. Not only was the breakfast tasty every morning but that tea oh my the tea was wonderful. The rooms were relatively comfortable and the location was great. I love Turkey and wished we could have stayed there longer.

Great Location

Hotel is located in the heart of Sultanahmet, a 5 min. walk from the Sultanahmet tram stop and only a block or so from the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofia and Topkapi Palace. Service was efficient and the room was good value for the money. I enjoyed the breakfast on the 6th floor, but the real view is on the rooftop one floor up. Got some great photos of the mosques both day and night.

Conveniently Located Hotel

The hotel was conveniently located in the historic district of Istanbul, close to the Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque. The rooms were simple, but clean. I agree with other reviewers that the walls were thin and it was easy to hear other rooms. However, this was not a major problem. The breakfast was on the top floor with a good view. Overall, it was a pleasant hotel to stay in.

Great hotel in Sultanahmet

This hotel was perfect for my needs. My room was quite small, but included a wardrobe, private bathroom, flat-screen TV, free wireless internet, and an air conditioning unit. The breakfast on the top floor was excellent (buffet style, Turkish breakfast), and the rooftop terrace was a delight. An elevator and indoor staircase made it easy to get to upper-floor rooms, and quick to get down (not all hotels in Sultanahmet have elevators, because of the age of the buildings).

Though the hotel is only a block or two from the Sultanahmet tram stop, it's tucked behind the busy street so it was surprisingly quiet, with a fresh produce shop right next door. I highly recommend this small and friendly hotel!

Alaaddin Boutique Hotel

I think my review isn't necessarily indicative of the hotel as my individual room was probably the worst one in the place. It was right next to the elevator with a very small window opening up onto the restaurant behind the hotel. Other than that I had a tiny skylight which wasn't facing directly down into a room, but sideways into a shaft, so that I got very little light at all. There were major noise and smell issues due to being next to the elevator and restaurant. The bed was like a plank. Some kind of mattress with no padding. The one pillow I got was also very hard. The reasons I give this place a 3/5 and not a 1 or 2 are the free wifi, great breakfast/view, and attentive staff. There is always someone on call and they can give you directions to anything (like ATMs, the pharmacist, etc). I got a glimpse of other rooms, and I'm sure they were better than mine. Also, the maids come every day and do a great job of cleaning the place. I didn't see a single hair or dust mite.

Great location for Sultanahmet

First impressions were not the best. I had prearranged transfers from the airport and was met by a young teenage boy who couldn't speak a word of English (and who managed to use 2 phones at once, 1 in each ear!). He had obviously been told to wait for quite a few others as we were shepherded together and gestured to wait for quite a while. Eventually it became clear we were to share a minibus with another couple who were staying in another hotel, so off we went.
I had read reviews from others that the rooms were small - on arriving at the hotel I realised that was an understatement! However, it was clean and well decorated, apart from the central light fitting being held only by the wires connecting it to the power supply. There doesn't seem to be very good soundproofing inside the hotel, plus as our room was facing straight out onto the street at street level and we could hear everything outside too, even with the window shut. There wasn't any air conditioning as stated either.
Despite this it was a nice hotel and very centrally located for the old town, a short stroll from the tram/Blue Mosque etc., with restaurants a stones throw away.
Breakfast was very good - it must be difficult catering for various nationalities but they seemed to succeed. Food was replenished continually and it was nice to have breakfast with great views.
I wouldn't describe this as a boutique hotel, but have no complaints about our recent stay there. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great Hotel

The hotel is great for traveling Muslim families as it is 100% alcohol free, only 20 seconds away from a beautiful mosque to pray in, and staffed by wonderful people. Breakfast was great and plentiful, the rooms were small, but this is the norm for the boutique buildings of old town area. Sultanahmet square (Blue mosque, Hagia Sofia, etc.) is only a 1-2 minute walk away. Tram station is <1 minute away. Would definitely stay there again!

Great location, but....

Superb Sultanahmet location, clean, with very friendly staff. We really enjoyed hearing the schoolchildren playing across the street. However, our room was small with no furniture on the hardwood floors. We had to put our luggage and stuff on the floor. Not ideal. The bed was not very nice and we did not sleep well at all for our three nights there. Lastly, the breakfast was not very good.

Cons: Cramped room without furniture, bad bed, breakfast wasn't impressive.

Pros: Best location, great view from roof of Blue Mosque at night, quiet, clean, not too expensive for location, friendly staff.

All in all it may still be a good value given the fantastic location, cleanliness, and friendly staff.

Great place for seeing the sights.

Hotel is literally around the corner from the blue mosque and aya Sofia. Also, a 30 second walk to the tram. If you are going to see the sights on a budget, this is a good place. Can't beat it for the price.

My only complaint was that the sheets were a little too clean. Smelled like a solvent or something

Great Comfortable Boutique Hotel

Chosen Alaaddin Hotel reading other people's reviews and stayed for 3 nights in Dec 2012 with my 13 yr old daughter. Absolutely enjoyed Istanbul and staying in this hotel. It was exactly what I seen it on the photos.Very comfortable good size room, friendly helpful staff. Walking distance to everywhere. 2 minutes from the tram station, lots of shops and places to eat and vistit nearby. We enjoyed the breakfast looking over great views, plentiful selections for even fussy eater like my daughter! We will defenitely be going back to this hotel for next trip to Istanbul.

This hotel has great customer services. All the staff are friendly and responsible. I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to be centrally located in the Old Town areas. It is only 5 min walk to Grand Bazaar, Hogia Sophia, Blue Mosque and other attractions. Room is kind of small but clean. You feel safe there.

Had a wonderful time here - I got a double bed in my single room so can't complain and the bathroom was compact and neat. It's right in the heart of the old town sights, easy walking distance (5 mins) to Hagia Sofia, the Blue Mosque and the Grand Bazaar. An easy walk to Galata Bridge too if you want to cross over into new town, and there are plenty of restaurants, cafes and koftecisi to choose from in the area. Overall a comfortable hotel but the location is the real seller.

The hotel was well located, and the room was tidy, albeit small. The shower, on the other hand, was quite large and hot water was plentiful. However, you could hear everything that was happening on the floor, and the worst part was the neighborhood flowers, which would crow at random times of day, sometimes at 10 pm, sometimes at 3:45 am, etc. Also, the wifi signal was almost nonexistent in the room. Hotel staff, however, was friendly and helpful.

Great value and clean

My stay was precisely what I wanted - a quiet and clean hotel. 20 rooms over 5 floors and its in good condition, meaning the facilities are well kept and the room itself had no issues.

Staff was friendly, room was cleaned daily and breakfast was simple but good. There was no safe in the room, but I wasn't expecting one. Wireless worked well on my tablet and phone.

Location was great given its in the heart of Sultanamet, which means the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar and other attractions are just down the road.

Really I have no complaints about the hotel at all. You will be satisfied provided your expectations are in line with the price.

I should note, and this is no fault of the hotel, that a nearby residence has roosters. Did you know roosters make noise at all hours, not just sunrise? I didn't. Earplugs saved the night(s)!

Great place to stay in Istanbul

Brilliant location, right in the heart of several tourist attractions such as the Blue Mosque. Easy to get to - takes about an hour door to door - from the airport via metro and tram. Hotel staff friendly and very helpful. Breakfast buffet selection was fine. We knew the rooms may be on the smaller side and they were but the location more than made up for that. View from the room terrace very pleasant. Plenty of restaurants nearby. Felt very safe at all times in the area. If anything, would suggest 2 tiny improvements - some of the towels needed replacing/mending and covering the buffet dishes at breakfast. Will definitely stay here again when in Istanbul.

The Aladdin is a gem of a boutique hotel ..perfect for long or short stay in Istanbul's historic old city. I found the hotel management superbly helpful. When we arrived early they went out of their way to get our room ready early for us. The free breakfast on the top floor is lovely..My only gripe is the perfect coffee of the first visit sadly lost its quality the second time round. The surrounds can often be noisy with a school and mosque close by. But the rooms have great sound proofing once the windows are closed.

Single Female Western Traveler - great hotel stay

Single westerner female traveler - stayed for three nights. Had a great experience at the hotel itself and in Istanbul. The staff is top notch and very helpful from the front desk to the breakfast service. As in most older city quarters, the rooms are smaller as I had expected. Based on reviews I had read in advance, I was prepared for the early morning rooster crows from a nearby location. There is an elevator which is helpful as some hotels do not have them. Breakfast foods were very good and varied. Location is great...just a short distance to the Sultenham metro stop in the old quarters which makes for easy public transport to/from the airport and to other parts of Istanbul. The daily calls to prayer can be heard and are very soothing...a beautiful soundtrack to a great city. Nice views from the rooftop level where you can have breakfast should you choose
. You are in close walking distance to most major sights of Istanbul. Great city...great hotel...great staff. I would stay here again and would recommend to my friends.

Nothing like what we booked

The hotels.com description on the internet was nothing like the room we got. The smallest room we've ever stayed in. Breakfast was a disapointment. Location is good though. I'd look elsewhere to stay as I think there's better around the same area.

Small hotel close to everything!

We had just completed a small boat cruise with Windstar and wanted to spend two more nights in Istanbul. Found this hotel on the internet and booked it due to location. IF you are looking for great value and a super location this is the place. The bedroom was small, barely room for two pieces of luggage, but the delightful terrace breakfast room made up for it. I also sat on the roof top terrace and could see the entire city and all the great vistas. Hotel was very quiet at night even though we faced the small street in from on the fourth floor.

We walked everywhere from the hotel, including the Blue Mosque, Cisturn, Spice bizarre, Grand Bizarre and walked over the bridge to the European side for fresh fish lunch. Public transportation is just a block or so away.Transfer from this hotel was reasonable and others in our group paid more. Plenty of places close by to have lunch and dinner. This is not a luxury hotel but great small hotel to serve as a base of operation and not break the bank. There were plenty of international travelers staying here so we felt in very good company.
