This hotel is very dated, but was clean. However they could greatly benefit from investing some money in their linens. The bedsheets were very old and threadbare with holes that had been mended. The towels were also old & threadbare. The bathroom door wouldn't close & the AC could use some servicing. We were not able to cool the room enough so we had to leave the window open at night which resulted in poor sleep due to the prayer calls from the mosques. The staff however were amazing as was the location.

We stayed at this hotel at the beginning of October 2024 for 8 nights. The hotel is in a really convenient location. Walking distance to all the attractions, restaurants and tram stations. The room that we stayed at was small but modern and adequate for a city break considering the price of the room including breakfast. The reception staff were very nice and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful for a small hotel and again staff was very nice and helpful. Perhaps, I would say the bedroom, especially the shower in the bathroom needed a better effort in cleaning. Otherwise, it would soon turn very unpleasant. Happy to recommend this hotel for its price and location.

Great service and wonderful Turkish breakfast with many choices on the beautiful rooftop terrace. There was an elevator which helped us tremendously after long days of touring. The location is excellent to see the top sites of the city and its steps away from the tram which runs frequently. If you want to stay in the old city this Is and excellent choice.

Honest review alert - overall Nomade was better than expected but I will point out a few things to keep in mind. Positives- customer service was excellent. Selman was the most gracious and helpful customer service person we have ever dealt with anywhere. Ask him about tours and shops and he will give honest advice, and may be able to save you a couple bucks on a booking. Oscar and breakfast chef were also exceptional- Great location.Steps to the blue mosque, Aya Sofia, transport, the Roman Hippodrome, and all the restaurants, shops, and hookah joints you could ask for. SAFE area. There was not a hint of any safety concerns- free breakfast was traditional Turkish with many options served. For foreigners used to salty meats and pancakes, you won't find a lot to sate your cravings. But if you have a wide palate, you'll be satisfied. - Rooftop terrace where breakfast was served - what a view of the Aya Sofia, etc. Amazing. Terrace open til midnight but no food or drinks for sale. We were served tea and a pastry for free when we arrived before our room was ready. Grab some takeout and beer from a local store and enjoy the terrace one night. Not great attributes - keep in mind all the positives above and the PRICE of the hotel. - noisy - we had room 404, right under the terrace level, 5, and without our earplugs, the noise from guests upstairs would have woken us up early. The fridges are too loud for light sleepers without earplugs. Bring earplugs, solved. - aesthetically not grea

The location is amazing; almost everything you’ll want to see is a short walking distance from the hotel. The staff are incredible; very friendly and always willing to help/offer suggestions.
The breakfast is great! The beds are small, but I found very comfortable.

Negatives being: very small rooms, a loud fridge that we had to unplug, and an ant problem in the washroom.

My husband and I were staying in the hotel for 7 nights, the staff were very nice, and helpful, specially Ozkan, he was so friendly and specially helful. Nomade Oldcity Hotel is close to everything, very convenient.The bathrooms need to be updated, there was a leaking water outside the bathroom floor. Wonderful location across the street from Sultanahmet square. Tram lines are just outside and very convenient.

Breakfast was fine, but the cooked eggs were cold because they had no warming plate and the drip coffee machine was way too small for the amount of people eating there. It was often empty.

Get used to the sounds of the city and the restaurant hawkers outside trying to sell food and drinks. Nothing unusual for such a highly tourist city: the same happens all over.

BUT what was unexpected and not welcome at all was our front desk clerk becoming annoyed and frustrated at me because we didn't book any tours with him.

We came to see Istanbul, taking the trams and ferries and seeing the sights. We had no interest in an *8 hour* bus expedition or a Bosphorus tour with whirling dervish show. We asked for a simple quiet dinner cruise to see the sights but they didn't offer anything but a full tourist dinner-and-show package. We tried to work with them but none of their tours were what we enjoy doing.

I understand they must get kickbacks from booking these, but I've NEVER had a hotel clerk get angry at me for not taking their tour packages.

Also: he wanted us to give him our Istanbul transit cards before we left? Like a bum at a subway station. What a terrible impression.

Lastly, he kept asking us to pay our bill in CASH EUROS rather than credit card on file w Expedia. I use my credit card for security and points, why would I leave the app to pay cash? Shady.

Great Hotel in the Perfect Location in the city!

A great hotel in the perfect location for 5 nights stay in Istanbul. The staff were friendly and helpful during my stay and the rooms were very comfortable. The bathroom/shower were good (I'm quite particular with bathrooms). Breakfast on the rooftop each morning was amazing! Only a few minutes walk to Ayasofia and Sultanahmet mosques. Perfect location to all the sites and restaurants in the city. Highly recommended and would stay again if I visit the city again.

If you don’t mind a dirty room, great location

The location is very good. Right across the street from the blue mosque and walking distance to many attractions. Tramway stop a block away.

The room was as to be expected but there is much noise from adjacent rooms, the water heater was on the roof of our room so constant noise. Typical Turkish Breakfast in a rooftop patio who at night has amazing views.

I won’t return to this hotel because is the lack of cleanliness. I had to complain every day if my stay because their concept of clean varies significantly from mine.

The glass cups in the room were filthy as well as the mugs and the coffee jug.

We washed everything the first day and the cleaning lady never bothered to clean them. She just left them as they were. Had to go up to the 5th floor to get clean ones ourselves in the daily. On top of this the floor wasn’t swept not mopped since we arrived. Various signs of lack of attention to detail in the cleaning department in the restroom.

The staff was courteous but I wouldn’t go as far as to call them friendly with the exception of one of the guys at reception who went the distance.

Unbeatable location! Next to many restaurants and shops. Within walking distance to main attractions. Rooftop has beautiful view the Blue Mosque.
What I considered downsides: underwhelming breakfast. All dishes supposed to be hot were cold; not even room temperature but cold. Also, not much variety in the food. For me breakfast is a 5/10. Another downside was the shower. Although there was planty hot water (which I really enjoyed) the actual shower was in need of a deep cleaning. It had mold all over. Also, my room (ending in 01) was on the smaller side. It works for 1 person but definitely a tight fit for 2.

The room was very clean, perfect size, the bathroom was very clean as well, hot water came immediately. Breakfast was buffet and with a wide array of choices from savory to sweet, with mainly local products which is very important for me.
The member of the staff at the concierge was extremely nice, we bombarded him with questions and asking do suggestions and he replied very kindly.
Best part of it the terrace and the view, I highly recommend to have breakfast outside to make the most of the view.
Last, but not least the location of the hotel is a 10/10 perfect to visit the Grand Bazar, hagia sophia and blue mosque within 10 minutes walk

This hotel is beyond excellent. Id give it ten stars if i could!

I stayed here ten years ago and enjoyed it then; the rooms have since been renovated, and it is really just a perfect spot.

The staff are amazing, the brrakfast is outstanding, the atmosphere is welcoming and cozy, and the views from the two terraces are mind boggling.

I lived in Istanbul for ten years, have visited often before and after that, and can say with confidence that this hotel offers everything a traveller needs.

I will stay here every time I come to Istanbul.

As an older budget traveler, I found the price very reasonabe considering the wonderful location just feet from the plaza between the two major mosques (Blue and Sofia). The breakfast on the top floor was excellent and even better provides a direct view of those key sites. I was able to efficiently get back to the airport by a tram and three subways (new one will be extended a bit farther soon, meaning one less subway to take). If you want 4-5 stars, there are places for that, but if you are more about basic needs and convenience, this is your place.

A wonderful hotel with wonderful staff. They did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and they work very hard and very long hours!

The hotel itself has an enviable location with a terrace overlooking both the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque as well as the Haliç and Bosphorous. It has restaurants and hookah bars right outside and is only a couple of minutes' walk from the Hippodrome and famous historic buildings. You really couldn't stay anywhere better!

I am so happy that I chose to stay at this hotel for my trip to Istanbul. It was located right in the heart of many delicious restaurants and pubs and a short walk to many of the attractions you want to see in Istanbul. They also serve a nice breakfast on the beautiful terrace. The hotel was clean and the best part was the ever helpful front desk staff. I had an issue with my driver not arriving timely for my flight to Izmir and the front desk person (I think his name is Osman) contacted my tour company and the taxi to make sure I arrived on time to the airport. If I ever return to Istanbul, I will no doubt stay at the same hotel.

All staff were very kind and help full especially Mr. Ramadan very active with smily face.

We stayed for three nights in December 2014. The hotel was in the perfect locations, you can walk everywhere and the street is off the main road with lots of restaurants and shops. You can see the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia from the hotel. The price reflects the hotel, it is a better youth hostel, with your own bathroom, but if you do not want to spend that much, this is perfect. The rooms are very small, including the bathroom, but clean enough for American standards. The breakfast is nice, again, the breakfast room is a little grimy. The walls and windows are very thin, so you can hear your neighbors and the restaurant noises. Someone is at the front desk 24/7 which is nice and make the place feel safe and they have free wifi.
I would recommend it to someone, who wants a cheap hotel, in a perfect locations, and who does not want to spend a lot of time in the room.

Great location with gem of a roof terrace

We choose the hotel as it had great location to see all historic sites and the roof terrace did look very nice. The roof terrace did not disappoint and it proved to be the best thing of the hotel with its amazing view. The room we got was very small and not very practical as twin room. The bathroom must have been one of the smallest I've seen. So if you plan to spend long in your hotel room, this one might not to be for you. But if you plan to see the sights and enjoy evening dink at the hotel's roof terrace, this is a perfect choice. The breakfast was very good with best simit and cheese we found in our stay in Istanbul. The hotel staff was helpful.

The hotel has simple rooms with everything you need. It is in an excellent location and has a brilliant roof terrace where you have breakfast overlooking the Blue Mosque. You can also have drinks here later in the day and it is a great place to relax after a day of sight seeing.

Although the room was very small and the mattress was less than comfortable, the hotel is in a excellent locations as it is literally across the street from the Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. It is a 10-min walk to the Galata Bridge, and on the way there you can cut through the Grand Bazaar as well as the Spice Bazaar. The daily buffet breakfast spread is very extensive and you get a view of the Blue Mosque, which is an experience by itself.

The location is prime (though perhaps a little noisy okay Friday night - then again that is what god created earplugs for, fight?). The room was fine for my use and i slept soundly. The staff was gracious and the breakfast delicious and plentiful. All in all, better than the price would lead one to expect. Not for the demanding high-maintanence sorts but great for a simple sort like me.

The location of the hotel is perfect, as close to the major sites (blue mosque, aya Sophia) as one can get without a car. The quality of service is wonderful- run like a family business...and probably is just that...but the hospitality and warmth from the 3 staff members was so different than from a big chain. They helped with all the luggage we had, from unloading it and taking it up to the room to loading it up in the van on the way back. The breakfast was simple and plentiful and the lady taking care of it all was very pleasant and sweet. the view from the terrace is priceless. overall a great stay. only thing I wish I knew was that it is not handicap friendly. It does have an elevator but one is not able to access all floors with it. It would not have been an issue unless my dad hadn't got so ill and weak on the flight to turkey. Overall, you can't go wrong with this hotel.

Okay it's a little noisy, but who comes to Sultanahmet to sleep?
if you're going to do all the Istanbul touristy stuff you won't find a better location - a minutes walk down an alley full of nice restaurants and your at Hagia Sofia, blue mosque and the cistern. Breakfast or evening beers on the terrace give you one of the best views of the beautiful Blue Mosque you can get - oh and breakfast is a great spread. Helpful staff will help arrange all kinds of stuff in the natty reception area.
I don't know how they do it all at that price, but don't tell them I said that.

Best staff, best location, best hotel in Istanbul

Hotel Nomade is the best hotel I have ever stayed, mostly due to the staff. When traveling everyone expects friendly, courteous service but this staff went beyond. They were helpful and kind. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Istanbul. It is clean, updated and centrally located to all the tourist sites and shopping. A tram stop is less than 1block away for very convenient transportation throughout the city. The roof top terrace view is breathtaking and the breakfast is delicious! We will stay here again!

Everything was excellent but one thing marred our stay which is why I have dropped the overall rating. We had a room overlooking the street and it was very noisy. We don't mind the usual early morning street noise and also late revellers but one night, there was a nearby club that had a loud live band that was still going at 2:00am another night an alarm went off nearby that wasn't switched off so we had a couple of very disturbed nights out of the six we stayed. Otherwise, no complaints. The roof terrace with its view over the Blue Mosque was spectacular and the breakfast buffet is great.

Super Lage mitten im Zentrum, so dass die Sehenswürdigkeiten fußläufig erreichbar sind. Abends jedoch recht laut. Frühstück war super für den Start in den Tag und die Aussicht von der Dachterrasse phänomenal. Freundliches, hilfsbereites Personal.
Sehr kleine, hellhörige Zimmer, z.T. sehr abgewohnt. In den Duschen müsste dringend der Schimmel beseitigt werden. Es gibt keinen nutzbaren Pool wie es die Beschreibung sagt.
Für einen Kurztrip aber eine solide Unterkunft.

Hotellet ligger på et bra sted, ikke langt unna alle hoved fasiliteter. Kanskje litt langt unna Taksim, Galata, Besiktas...Kapalicarsi er også ikke langt unna, kanskje 700-800 meter. God frokost, hyggelig og behjelpelig personalet.

Questo hotel è veramente perfetto per un soggiorno piacevole e fruttuoso ad Istanbul! L'hotel è in una posizione davvero strategica per tutto: Moschea Blu, Gran Bazar, Hagia Sofia, Bazar Egiziano, traghetti sul Bosforo, etc!!!!! Inoltre è vicinissimo alla fermata del T1 che porta quasi ovunque! Ma quello che davvero ci ha fatti stare bene è il supporto che ci hanno dato per qualunque cosa! Huseyin ci ha seguite passo passo per qualunque problema e ci ha salvato durante le difficoltà...è stato davvero disponibile e gentile, un supporto online con whatsapp continuo, efficiente ed ONESTO! Inoltre nei dintorni c'è tantissima scelta per mangiare, per negozietti, bar, etc. Si fa colazione su un terrazzo da cui si vede la moschea BLU e il personale della colazione è fantastico ( (una mattina avevamo una gita e mi hanno fatto il caffè in anticipo). Le camere sono un po' piccole ma pulitissime, ci sono sempre tanti asciugamani puliti e carta igienica, non bisogna chiedere mai niente!!! Alla fine ci hanno persino pesato le valigie nell'hotel di fianco e dato dell'acqua per arrivare all'aeroporto...mi sono sentita a casa in un posto splendido! SUPER CONSIGLIATO!

I had a very nice stay in Nomad hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful, the location is fantastic, and the rooftoop terrace makes for an unforgetable breakfast experience. Only minus: you can hear all the noise from the corridor, but there are only few rooms on each floor so it wasnt too bad.

Wir waren 2 Nächte dort. Die Umgebung ist super. Hotel selbst ist gut, aber die Zimmer sind renovierungsbedürftig. Es gibt eine Terrasse, wo das Frühstück serviert wird. Wir waren mitten Juli dort und da oben war sehr warm…es war nur ein Ventilator draußen verfügbar. Die Auswahl beim frühstücken war ok.

A cinco minutos del Hipódromo, Mezquita Azul, Santa Sofia. Acceso por calle bulliciosa y tradicional, parcelada al centímetro cuadrado. Personal agradable y eficiente, y como en casi toda la zona turística: predomina el genero masculino. Desayunos copiosos y completos en azotea con vistas memorables a los monumentos y hacia el mar de Marmara. Nos asignaron una habitación interior. Habitación, baño y espacios comunes del hotel mínimos, se procura el máximo aprovechamiento del metro cuadrado. Si bien se pretende dar el máximo confort (aparatos de aire, griferias nuevas,...) las estrecheces, y la falta de ventilacion són notas negativas.

El hotel está en una situación inmejorable,a escasos metros de la mezquita azul y de Santa Sofia.
La habitación como comentan anteriores clientes es verdad que es un poco pequeña, pero es suficiente para estar cómodo en una estancia de 4/5 días.
El desayuno bufé es bastante bueno,con comida caliente y fría,y sobre todo destacar las vistas desde la terraza,que maravilla desayunar viendo Santa Sofía al fondo,la mezquita azul y el Bósforo.
Sin duda un hotel con una calidad/precio inmejorable.En mi próxima visita a Estambul repetiré

Habitación pequeña pero muy cómoda. Camas comfortables para un buen descanso. Desayuno delicioso en la terraza.
