The breakfast was excellent. Lots of variety and very fresh. Different options everyday. Staff very friendly and helpful with directions and instructions on using transit and sightseeing. Amazing location to walk almost everywhere and close to transit lines. Very clean rooms and common areas too. Only complaints would be it’s getting a little too warn. The furniture in room had too much damage and should be replaced. Walls had holes in wallpaper and style is outdated. Also, as Expedia VIP, no upgrades or perks were offered. With that being said, it was a fair price for what I received and way too many great things about this hotel, that I would not hesitate to stay again. Roof top restaurant for breakfast was a huge perk to the stay. Beautiful views and very clean.

The Nowy Efendi Hotel's absolutely best selling point is its incredible location -- it is literally 10 min walk away from two of the Istanbul's main tourist sightseeing destinations: Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque. In fact, Hagia Sofia is so close that one can enjoy the view of this incredibly historical Church from the breakfast room!
The rooms are pretty good, especially given the prices they charge (we paid less than $100/night for a room with 3 beds -- a pretty good deal IMHO!).
The only thing that hotel could consider improving (though not a significant drawback) is the quality of its breakfast. It was OK, but not great. Other than that -- this hotel offers a very good value for money -- I highly recommend it!!!

The best thing about this property is the location. It’s less than 5 mins walk to the Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basillica Cistern, and Sultanahmet Tram Station. Plus there were tons of restaurants nearby. The neighborhood felt fairly safe.
Our room was very clean, but a bit dated. The furniture was a little old and worn, and the walls had no decoration. However everything was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the bathroom seemed updated.
I definitely would stay here again the next time I’m in Istanbul.

Staff were amazing, always ready to help. They even offered apple tea while waiting for other people to finish checking in/out. Special mention to Burcu who helped us not only with the airport transfer, but more importantly, with the luggage transfer to another hotel for our land tour. Burcu came to our rescue when taxis and Uber rejected us. She arranged for the transport service.

The location.of the property was excellent 5 out 5.. everything was close by walking distance. Staff were friendly and answered our every question. Breakfast was good but could have done with more of a range of food. Also when giving prices for transfers they should state that 55 euros return actually means 55 goin n another 55 comin back not 55 in total for both ways. Which is what we thought until we asked further questions..

The property is conveniently located next to the blue mosque and other sites around Sultanhamet. Local Sok supermarket is 30 seconds away and all restaurants and fast food are within walking distance, literary 1 minute.
Tram is close and Metro is not too far from the hotel either.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Nowy Efendi Hotel. The staff was extremely welcoming and made sure we had a pleasant stay. They were especially helpful in arranging transportation to and from the airport. We were pleased with the room, which was simple but clean and had everything we needed. A real highlight was the upstairs restaurant, where we had breakfast-- spectacular views of the Hagia Sofia and surrounding area! From the viewing terrace another level up it was possible to see the Blue Mosque as well and much of the city. Overall an excellent stay!

Stayed here for 5 nights with 3 friends and would definitely stay again if I went back to Istanbul. The property is in an amazing location, literally a 3-4 min walk from the main tourist areas. The hotel is clean and the staff are brilliant, Burcu and Dindar looked after us very well! The breakfast is decent but nothing special. We had 2 twin rooms and both were decent size. The view from the terrace is absolutely beautiful. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

We are a family of 3. Had booked the double connecting rooms with attached bathrooms for 7 days. Love the staff here, they were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Recommends us tours and places to eat. Breakfast was ok. Credits to front staff Umut, Dindar, Burcu,Anil, Mustafa and Asiye from housekeeping which we didn’t get to meet but kept our rooms clean and tidy. The ladies in the kitchen and the manager as well. We were given the IstanbulKart upon arrival and returned it when we leave with some leftover credits. This is paid it forward. Love the people, love the country.

Hotel room was clean however the water cleaning system in the toilet was broken. Also the tap for this was on the left hand side which i found highly strange for a muslim country.
Room size was tiny - not big enough for two people we actually had to move some furniture which blocked the door whilst in the room.
Has a terrace restuarant. Breakfast was sub standard. Extra fee applied to order omelettes.
Ordered shisha on the first day but burnt out within 5 mins as no foil was used. My friend then had to make our own shisha after finally being allowed and then used our own equipment for it.
In all fairness its good value for money and great location. I would suggest picking a bigger room size eg family room if its more than 1 person travelling.

Location was good for the ferry. Too much effort for staff to process our passports and had to ask when we would receive our passports back, so that prompted the staff to check us in then and there.

Great choice of hotel in the Sultanahmet area. Value for money and located in a quiet street. Its about 5 mins walk from the Tram station. We loved our stay and the breakfast is nice and was open 7.30 to 11am during the summers, which is very useful if you want to get our early for sun rise photos by the sea and be back for breakfast!

My second stay
This was my second time visiting Istanbul, and I stayed in Nowy Efendi for both time. Both experiences were excellent. As this time, I had some incident with my luggage which was lost due to the airline system, thankfully, the staffs of the hotel helped me to contact the airline, letting me know the situation and details, and just handled it nicely. In addition, it's just great, it got almost everything you need, the location, nice and helpful staffs, lovely breakfast with terrace view , friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed the stays.

Hotel in good location. Service not with a smile and I was asked to pay for some items that they say was missing from the minibar yet I know I had not touched anything.
There was no room for conversation re this and this spoilt the trip for me.

Small hotel in good location. Staff were lovely and nice however our bathroom smelt like urine, not sure if this was a plumbing issue or a cleanliness issue. Also the bathtub was old and disgusting with stains all over it which they tried to hide with a plastic mat! No way would l be having a spa in that thing. I think the bathroom needs a reno quick smart.

Hotel was ok. Room cleanliness was below the standards I was expecting, when we got there bedsheets wasn't changed in the children's room.
Not enough toiletries were given after the room had been cleaned each morning. The lifts kept breaking down every other day. There was a bad smell coming from the corridor we were on on one occasion.
The buffet breakfast did not have enough variety to choose from.
The staff at the reception were wonderful and sympathetic and tried to do there best to help out for towards our needs.

We stayed at this hotel 5 days and what a wonderful stay it was. The hotel itself seems freshly renovated, super clean and nicely decorated. The staff is beyond great and super helpfull. The breakfast in the morning is great with lots of choice. The terasse on the roof is handsdown one of the best views of Istanbul. The location is awesome! You are a couple of minutes away from many attractions in Sultanahmet. Thank you for an awesome stay!!

Place to stay but wouldn’t recommend
- when I complained that there’s not hot water, I was advised to keep tap running for approx five minutes so it’s warm enough for a shower
- tricking water from shower head whilst showering so not much pressure
- the balcony doors were dirty and had pigeon poo which wasn’t cleaned
- the lighting in room was awful. Couldn’t see my face in mirror as lights were awfully dim and the mirror was tinted brown!! How does someone do their makeup or shave ?
We only saw our faces properly in the lift mirrors!
- one good point - there was sufficient heating in room on cold nights and morning which helped stay warm.
And finally...... the breakfast is non existent. There are tons of cheese but hardly any other option. Bits of half buns and toast and spreads. But when asked to fry an egg they asked for 10 lira.

We stayed for 8 days as a family with children. We requested a room on the 5th floor which has windows so that we could get some natural light. The views were restricted to a car park on one side and a wall on the other. If you don't mind sleeping without windows then the 2 floors below the reception area will be sufficient. However the views from the top of the hotel above the breakfast area make up for it.
The staff were very friendly willing to help you whenever needed.
We managed to visit the majority of the visitor attractions. I would recommend buying a museum pass for 85 lira each if you wish to visit most museums including the Topkapi Palace. Under 12s enter free. We bought the 5 day pass from the Turkish and Islamic Museum near the Blue Mosque which doesn't have any queues. You can fast track into museums with your pass.
I would also recommend buying an Istabulkart which can be used on the trams, buses, ferries and the cable cars in Eyup , it is a top up card which is very easy use and we only needed to buy one between the family.

Great location, very close to the Agia Sofia and Blue Mosque, as well to the Topkapi palace. Very comfortable hotel, nice breakfast and friendly staff.
Just a tip: don't change money in the exchange houses near the blue mosque in the street with the trams, because they give fake bills, be careful. That was the only downfall of the trip, a pity.

Great to stay at this hotel with my family. Really friendly and helpful staff all across. Nice breakfast choices including variety of hot and cold servings. Lots of free amenities unlike many US hotel of this size. I would easily give 3 star. Close proximity to all attractions helped us save money on taxi or rental. Very safe. Tons of good food places surrounds the hotel. Overall fantastic experience for my family. Should easily exceed expectations from US guests.

A pleasant and welcoming family hotel
A very convenient and pleasant hotel, close and walking distance to historical places including blue masque and Hagia Sophia, and in the vicinity of the hustle and bustle of tourist attractions. We arrived very early in the morning, the hotel not only organised our bed room earlier but also organised breakfast, a very welcoming gesture from a family run small hotel. The bedroom was clean tidy, very comfortable, and complementary tea and coffee added to the warm hospitality, and very artistic presentation of bath room items reminded of the beauty of the God of small things. We enjoyed our two day stay, received helpful advice from the reception staff on both the travel in the city and on restaurants in the area, and were especially impressed by the inviting breakfast on the 7th floor. We would certainly stay in the hotel on our next visit.

Elegant Boutique Hotel in the Heart of Istanbul
We unexpectedly had to spend a night in Istanbul. We found the hotel while on the plane during the first leg of the journey. The hotel is in an outstanding location right in the Sultanameht- walking distance to all the major sites. The rooms are small but elegantly appointed. Shopping and dining are very close by. The bedding was wonderful and very comfortable. A full hot breakfast, which was very good, was included. The service by the staff was excellent. This is a wonderful property in the heart of Istanbul and was an incredible value as well.

Our stay was nice. The hotel is clean and modern. Morning breakfast is decent with enough choices. There are plenty of eating choices near by. Burcu was helpful with all the attractions. There are many currency exchange near by.
Cons:
1. Room was comparatively small compared to US standards.
2. I booked to and fro from hotel to airport. The pickup was smooth. But while departing it was snowing. The front desk was not transparent and they almost made me miss my flight. I think the front desk sent our ride to someone who checked out earlier as taxi was not available. In return the shuttle got stuck near blue mosque. We walked to stuck shuttle with eight international size luggage for good 20 minutes in snow. The hotel staff helped us ( especially Musa and manager/owner) but it was not pleasant to walk with all luggage and kid in snow.

We arrived early for our check-in after an all-night flight and the front desk staff was extremely accommodating in advising that the room was already available for us. We were a party of three and the room was completely ready with three of everything already set in the room. We enjoyed the included breakfast buffet which provided a wide variety of choices in a rooftop terrace setting with a wonderful view of the Hagia Sofia. The room was efficiently laid out and the bathroom spacious and clean. We found the entire hotel to be clean and well kept. The hotel is also very well located on a quite street within walking distance of many of the top tourist spots including the Grand Bazaar. We had an enjoyable and restful stay at the Nowy Efendi Hotel and would not hesitate to recommend it or stay there on our next visit.

I picked this hotel due to its location. It is an easy trip from the airport on the Metro/Tram then a short walk to the hotel. There are signs for the hotel as well so you can't miss it. My room was on street level, even though it is the 3rd floor. It was a comfortable size for one person, might be tight for 2. The bed was comfortable - the pillows were too hard for me so I asked for feather pillows (they advertise different types). I asked twice and never received so made do with a balled up sweater. The bathroom was good - good water pressure. There is Air Conditioning as well. Breakfast was ok but I only had it one day. The views from the roof of Istanbul are fabulous.

I have visited Turkey many times, always choosing different hotel to a previous stay. I chose Nowy Efendi, as it was recommended for travellers with children. Indeed, the hotel is very good and the staff is extremaly helpful. It is the best hotel in Sultanahment area so far. Highly recommended.

We had a beautiful experience at the hotel and if a situation arises we would love to stay at this hotel again . This location is at the middle of numerous points of interest and close to the tram station . We could return to the hotel to fresh up before heading to a different site . We arrived early in the morning without prior notice but the front desk Burcu was nice to help us arrange for an available room and let us check in early. We were treated with a complimentary breakfast while we waited for our room. The location was at a quiet part of Sultanehmet which we really like. Away from the hustle bustle of Sultanehmet but near to all the main attraction. Highly recommend this place!

Great Hotel in Old Istanbul!
My wife and I stayed here two nights after a Mediterranean cruise. The room was very clean and modern and had air conditioning. It has a great roof top cafe with breakfast every morning. It is located in Old Istanbul . It is with in walking distance of the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, restaurants and other sites. The staff was very courteous and very helpful with info on the area. They made our stay very pleasant.

This hotel is not easy to find even when you have a map. It is nestled onto a back street. It has a very nice roof top look out over the city with a spectacular view. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good. Another plus is that it is about 3 blocks from the Tram and is within walking distance of virtually every major Istanbul attraction.
