Location of the hotel is excellent, with walking distance for some of the top Istanbul attractions - Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazar etc.
Tram station is 50m from the hotel which is also very convenient. Plenty of restaurants nearby.

Hotel staff are very kind and helpful. Would stay in the same Hotel again.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Faros and my overall experience was nothing short of exceptional. The staff at Faros surpassed expectations with their warm hospitality and attentiveness. Every request was handled promptly, and their genuine dedication to guest satisfaction was evident throughout my stay.
Hotel is centrally located and is 5 to 10 minutes walk from Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern and Topkapi Museum two minutes from the Sultanahmet tram station.
I highly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a blend of luxury, convenience, and impeccable service during their stay.

Stayed at the Faros in early October 2023 for a four night break. Really lovely staff and excellent location for major sights - easily walkable or tram stop very near by.

Note: poor access by taxi if that is your preferred mode of transport as area is mostly pedestrianised. Not a problem if on foot or using the well priced and convenient tram. I used the coach from the IST airport to Aksaray (136 TL or about £4 each way) then walked the mile or so to the hotel. Could have used tram if I had bought an Istanbulkart but couldn't find a machine at the airport).

Breakfast was good from the continental buffet, but you had to ask for tea or coffee.

The restaurant had nice food at tourist rate prices.

The only problems I encountered were noise and music at night until the early hours (restaurants at street level directly below). Also, I had booked a standard double room through Expedia but was given only a tiny single (room 106) with no other rooms available. The aircon failed after the second night.

I'd definitely stay here again if I could guarantee getting the room I had paid for.

Great location. It’s lively and in the heart of Sultan Ahmet, close to the Grand Bazaar. The hotel is small but clean. I wouldn’t recommend for families with small children as it is a bit noisy when the trams go by. The breakfast is average. The staff are kind.

The hotel is in excellent location. You have the Sultanahmet Tram stop within yards, along with Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Serefiye Cistern etc all within walking distance. It's also walking distance to Eminonou where you can catch ferry to Kadikoy (Asian side) which is 20 minutes ride away. The whole area is steeped in so much history it's a shame that the information isn't easily available. All the staff are super friendly. Only got name of 2; Omer and Gunes. Gentleman on early morning duty (28th Feb) also was a great help. The ladies servicing the rooms are very good.
Downside is the interior a bit dated especially bathroom. The balcony isn't large enough for sitting outside. The breakfast was very basic and same every morning. The music being played outside is loud and goes into late night. Not the hotels fault!

Lovely hotel, perfect location, helpful staff, great breakfast. Hotel guest are getting a 15% discount on food and drinks in the restaurant. We felt very well looked after and enjoyed our stay. The location of this property cannot be beat. Steps from the main attractions in Old Istanbul. Linens were clean and the AC was great which is always a plus in Istanbul in the summer. Breakfast was definitely great, and the shuttle to the airport was very reasonable. Some of the finishes were a little worn in the room, but all in all would stay here again for the location and size of the room.

This hotel is in a great location, within a five mins walk to all of the old cities landmarks such as the blue mosque, hagia sophia, topkapi palace, grand bazaar, camberlitas hammam, cistern. You are also only a few mins walk to the nearest tram station.

However, that is realy the only thing it has going for it. The hotel is very dated. Rooms are in poor condition and in need of a big refurb and due to the bar on the ground floor, it gets pretty loud. It also has very poor windows and so the street noise is pretty much non stop including the tran that runs outside it.

Also, you cannot access the hotel by cab directly so need to be dropped off on a side road so expect a walk with your luggage when arriving and leaving.

My honest advice is to book elsewhere in this area as there are so many hotels to pick from that would be a better standard but if that doesnt bother you, then this place is so well located, it is a viable option.

Really bad hotel. Rooms are so shabby. Furniture is old. I had leakage in my room from rain. All night i couldnt sleep with the noise. Next day they gave me a pail to put under the leakage. Tubs are so wierd. The shower is positioned so badly. They have not updated the rooms. Also it got cold asked for heating they said its all central. Once it is winter whole jotel will turn into heating then one can get heating in their room. Will not stay again. I wish i had taken pictures. The head board looked really slimy too

The best hotel I had stayed in Istanbul. Centrally located < easy walk to all the attractions. Room was great and clean and comfy. The front desk were amazing, especial Thank to Zia for the help with all my inquiries. They have restaurant and serve good food. Breakfast was ok and you get discounted rate if you are staying at the hotel. Try the lamb chop ( very tender and delicious ) or seafood pasta. Hotel room lacked basic amenities such as an iron, hangers or a safe. Had to borrow an iron from staff which was shared between everyone in the hotel. Room was meant to be a large room instead was given something no bigger than 10m2. Only benefit is the location.

Stayed at Faros (Old City) for a long weekend (fri-mon). Check-in was quick and there is facility to organise tours etc. The hotel has great location in Sultanahmet, very short walk to historic/tourist sites and right beside a wide choice of cafe/bar/restaurants.
Stayed in a suite room; this was very spacious, clean, comfortable and had a good view of old city area. The bathroom is adequate but a little dated (my subjective opinion) stronger water pressure in shower would be good.
The hotel has WiFi but I found this to be a bit flaky...I got better service by picking up the restaurant's signal.
We ate in the restaurant outdoors a couple of times...good range of well priced meals to choose from and friendly service.
I would happily stay here again and would recommend it to others who want a base in Sultanahmet area.

Hotel staff was excellent.. We plan to stay on this Hotel again and recommend to family and friends. The food was great, their breakfast and dinner (15% off) and they have a lemonade mojito (excellent drink)! Staff went over out of their way to help my family (kids ages 7 through 12) and ease things with transportation from hotel to airport. We had 20 pieces of luggage. Recommended places to shop and site see. Thank you for welcoming us to Istanbul, Turkey... Beautiful country! The # 203 and # 303 room Family!

This is a relatively old hotel in the Istanbul Old City area.
The location is great, being fairly centralto that city's stunning history, heritage and features.
It is right on the modern, fast, efficient tram and train system, so moving around is easy. Although walking around is equally enjoyable.
The staff are brilliant - friendly, heelpful and efficient.
food from the incorporated restaurant is just excellent.
My only slight reservation is that access to and from the bath/shower is challenging for a 70 year old.

A stones throw from Sultan Ahmet square. The hotel is very well situated on a busy high street and just across from the tram line. The grand bazaar is also only a 10 minute walk away. The staff were very friendly and helped in planning and booking the day trips. The breakfast buffet was lush. Especially the freshly baked Turkish bread !

Incredible Location, Great Staff, Room with a View

Hotel staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Our flight was in at 6 am and they were able to check us into a room by 11am - 3 hours earlier than the norm.This was really appreciated! The lobby manager at each shift was helpful with answers and advice on touring, dining and transportation. The room was tastefully decorated, true to the photos, very clean and had a view out over the city. Housekeeping was efficient and friendly. Breakfast was a large buffet spread of delicious, fresh and healthy options that exceeded expectations.

Getting from here to there couldn't be more convenient: The metro line runs along the street just outside the lobby door with 2 stops to choose from each a couple of blocks up/down the street. Getting from our room to the Blue Mosque was only a 10 minute walk! Tons of shops, restaurants and beautiful sights all around. From early morning to late night the area is well lit, secure and full of tourists as well as locals. Would definitely stay again and recommend to others. Thank you!

Wonderful group holiday

The Faros city hotel was a ver good hotel for the price we paid. I took 15 people to stay at this hotel. The room are clean and tidy, the bathroom could be better, the ceramic hand basins have cracks, one of our members had an accident while washing his hands, the basin fell through, he had cuts to his hand and feet, please be careful while using it.
Apart from that the staffs were very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was wonderful , the location was great, this hotel is central to all the monuments and bazaars.
I would go and stay there again without any hesitation and would recommend it anyone.

This hotel offered good value for money and a very good location for visiting the Old City in Istanbul. We got an upgrade to a suite, but I would consider this to be just an average room. I did not see the standard rooms. There are no normal facilities such as a reception area, residence lounge etc. However a good value restaurant, offering a variety of good quality European style food, is within the hotel. I would recommend this hotel for a 2 or 3 day budget stay, but no more. Restaurant staff were very nice. Tram ran by the front door, under our room, but was not a noise problem and very convenient.
