My wife and I stayed here while visiting Turkey recently. Booked this place because it had great reviews and was close to the things we wanted to see while there. Not easy to find because there are at least three hotels close by that are called Sophia something. Of course we went to the two others first lol. It's entrance is just off the street so is easy to miss initially. It has a nice coffee shop that is well priced in the lobby area. It is very clean and decently spacey rooms. You can actually link your Netflix account and watch some English TV here. None of the many other hotels we stayed at while in Turkey have this yet. BIG plus for that, in my opinion. Walking distance to all sorts of cool stuff. I think this area is the BEST in Istanbul. Shopping and restaurants galore. The ones closest to the hotel will be more expensive than if you just walk up the hill a bit so definitely worth walking. There will be no shortage of people trying to get you to com e to their stores when you are walking around, even though their store is not right there. The Grand Bazaar is about a 10-12 min walk up the hill. We went there last but would recommend that you go there first instead because prices seem better there than the same fancier shops closer to the hotel. Hotel staff are excellent!! The hotel is literally right next to the Hagia Sophia, opposite the Basilica Cistern and only five mins walk to the Blue Mosque, 5-8 mins to the Grand Bazaar. Absolutely endless choice of cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Tram Stop at Sultanahmet is five mins walk with frequent trams into the city. So, quite the historic and tourist centre.

I had a deluxe room at the rear of the hotel which had a brilliant view of the Hagia Sophia and quiet; you get the call to prayer five times which lasts for about five minutes.

The quality of the hotel is very good. Very helpful staff. Very enjoyable traditional Turkish Breakfast.

Difficult to get to from the international airport by public transport (but I did it and quite an experience in itself) but a cheap and good alternative is to get the Havaist bus to Sultanahmet (TRY 315).

So, a great place to stay for a trip, especially a first trip, to Istanbul!

Hotel with very friendly staff next to Hagia Sofia. The breakfast is superb. And it is close to the main attractions. The problems are: 1. Very noisy room next to a busy street, and 2. There is a big slope in front of the hotel without car access. You have to walk about 500 meters in order to take a cab.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. I asked the cleaning ladies several times for face towels, i was told they had but never délivered them. Hotel was in a great location right by the main attractions in Old Town. Rooms were nice but the bathroom door was sheer and so the light poured into the entire room. And the shower door would not close fully so water got everywhere. Since taxis can’t come down direct to the hotel, it was somewhat confusing for some drivers, but a quick 3 minute walk to another stop was no issue. Staff was extremely attentive though and very helpful.

This has to be the best location in Sultanahmet, Hagia Sofia and the Blue Mosque and Basilica all across the street. Very safe and interesting neighborhood.
Good free breakfast and friendly staff. The bathroom is slightly dated, rooms are smaller, but location, location and location. We like it and recommend it highly.

We stayed four nights at this property. The location is very good, but difficult to find. Although breakfast was included in our reservation, the hotel tried to pull a fast one first, but accepted when shown the reservation details. Breakfast was good, but the choices become stale if staying for four nights, especially because there is not much choice for vegetarians. The dining staff was very good. The front desk was most interested in selling tours, but not in providing advice on good tour guides. Finally, and this was upsetting: we did not get our VIP Gold benefits at this property.

The staff are outstanding, invariably friendly and helpful. The front desk is always staffed with personnel who have a good working knowledge of English and provide practical help in booking excursions,buying tickets, confirming reservations and mastering the public transport system. The staff is amazing...and the location cannot be beat. Keep in mind that this location is inside the UNESCO zone...so no car traffic...which is great, but it takes a little effort to check-in. Having said that, the front desk staffed WALKED over to where my cab dropped me off, and rolled my bag back to the location. Great service! The free breakfast was over-the-top good. It's an older boutique hotel...so keep that in mind. But now that I'm not doing business travel much, I steer away from large brands.

Good Location, but Hotel Could Improve

The hotel is well located. The breakfast is excellent and the staff and friendly and helpful. However, the recommended restaurants are not very good, there was no or limited hot water and the local taxis booked by the hotel are not always reliable. I had one especially bad experience with a taxi driver who did not know where he was going and ended up charging more than double what he had quoted. I travel a lot internationally (every few weeks) and stay in many hotels all over the world. For a boutique hotel, the St. Sophia is good, but still needs considerable work to be great. If location is what you desire, then a great choice. Otherwise, there may be better value propositions elsewhere.

Overall our stay at the hotel was excellent! We got the room with a balcony facing the Hagia Sophia and honestly, I don’t think you could have gotten a better view of it. Coffee was good and they provided plenty of water, which was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Bedroom slippers were good too. They provided bath towels and hand towels but I do wish face towels were provided too. I also found the shower floor a bit slippery.

Fantastic location. Great referral to a guide!

The location in the old city made it a great choice. With a 5-minute walk to the Hagia Sophia, we were thrilled with its convenience. The room was spacious and comfortable for two friends to share. What added to the experience was the tour guide the hotel arranged for us to do a private tour. Not only did he know his stuff, turns out he trained many of the guides running group tours. I doubt we would have found such an exceptional guide on our own.

The hotel's location is superb, the staff is terrific and the breakfast is excellent. However the rooms are very small and the showers are awkward and very slippery. We were unable to unpack our suitcases due to lack of space. If you are staying for 2 or 3 days, you will be fine. A shout out to the staff for arranging tours and assisting with logistics, as the hotel is in a no-drive zone. Have your taxi call the hotel and they will have someone meet you at the drop off to take you and your bags to the hotel.

Location, you are a stone’s throw from the Hagia Soohia.Hotel staff were amazingly friendly. Greeted me with refreshing drink when I arrived to helping with bags to my room and the like. The hotel is located in the best possible area of Istanbul but precisely because of how touristy it is and its proximity to several mosques that call for prayer 5 times a day don’t expect it to be quiet for sleeping.
The property is beautiful; breakfast was delicious; and the staff was very friendly and helpful.

We were very disappointed as it appeared it maybe hotel practice to get guests in that location and then “upgrade them to better room further away”. Be aware that if you book this hotel, you may actually stay someplace else.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting the old town in Istanbul. The hotel is really near the main sights like the basilica, blue mosque, Hagia Sophia, and notable streets with many dining options. It is also walkable to the grand bazaar and Egyptian bazaar, which makes it great for those that would like to travel and sightsee on foot. Otherwise, trams and taxis are also available, and can take you across to the new town easily.

Would like to give a big shoutout to the staff in the hotel, everyone was really welcoming and friendly. We had breakfast there for our last day and the spread was a delight.

5 stars for us and happy to have stayed there :)

I m really pleased with their customer service. I landed in the morning, and they were happy to check me in without any additional charges. When inquired about food place at 4am, the staff literally came with breakfast platter when the kitchen was closed. Reception staffs go extra mile to look after their guests. Even 2 of staffs helped my wife with the luggage and walked to the taxi parking area, as taxis can’t come to the reception area (500 m). I stayed there only for 2 nights, as I had medical appointment, but I wish I could stay there for longer.

A charming Boutique Hotel

A charming boutique hotel with an amazing location. Friendly and helpful staff. Check in was a breeze. The room was comfortable, modern and clean. It is a stone’s throw from the Haghia Sophia. It is steps away from many sights. Situated right on a tram line (but not bothered by noise) connections to Istanbul’s excellent public transportation are a breeze. We were pleasantly surprised with our stay here. When we arrived i was not quite sure how it would be as the entrance was very basic. However staff went above and beyond with service.
Breakfast was amazing and so much choice!
The rooms were cosy and always cleaned well.
The only drawback was that taxis were not allowed in the area as it is a UNESCO heritage site. However after the first day we got used to the idea and it truly isca beautiful historical location.

This is a wonderful hotel located right in the centre of the Old City. The Hagia Sophia is right next to the hotel and many of the central attractions are within walking distance. There is also a tram stop located a short distance from the hotel.

The rooms are clean, stylish and comfortable. Lovely bathrooms with hot water. I had a really great night sleep here.

I would suggest having the Turkish breakfast in the morning - a lot of food and all of it tasty, it will set you up for the day. The hotel also offers tea and treats in the afternoon - recommended!

The staff were all very friendly and helpful, assisting with luggage, explaining how to use public transport or helping you book a tour.

I would stay here again, this hotel had a very warm and friendly feel to it.

The staff at this hotel goes over the top to please their guests. Our friends were not staying at the hotel with us because they had reservations elsewhere, but they kept their luggage for them and provided transfer to the airport for them anyway. They made reservations for our group to eat at an amazing roof top restaurant. We had 360 degree views of this amazing city that is breathtaking at night. Great food also! The breakfast in the morning is amazing and given complimentary to the guests. This hotel is awesome!

This for sure was a gem during my short stay. The hotel is perfectly positioned to easily visit all of the great sites, restaurants and shopping that Istanbul has to office. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the staff were accommodating and friendly. I had to take away one star bec if the sewage odor coming from the toilet. This is probably not the fault of the hotel; however I would suggest utilizing deodorizers to take care of the awful smell.

Right in back of Hagia Sofia this hotel is perfectly placed for a sightseeing trip to Istanbul. It’s cute and stylish, very boutique. Our room was small but nice. The best part of the hotel is the people—Sinan and Enes were so friendly, so helpful, and went out of their way to do SO much to make our trip great. They made all the right recommendations and had opinions about what suited us best—and they were right. We were able to completely trust them.Thank you!

BEST Service EVER from a hotel

I booked my stay based on reviews of this place, and I was not disappointed. I apologize in advance for the length of this review, but I OWE it to this place.

When we arrived after disembarking from our cruise, they allowed us to check in early - no extra fee and it was like 11:00 am. They front desk offered to arrange for a tour guide to take us around. We can usually manage and it as $180 euros so we hesitated but then agreed. I was worried the tour guide was his brother-in-law's cousin's ex boyfriend but it was NOT. Come to find out, tourist guide is a 4 year degree in Turkey, and you have to have credentials. The guide said he made it to the hotel in 58 minutes from when he received the call. While we were waiting in the lobby, the hotel brought us hot tea and cake!

The staff offered us water while we were checking in, and our room also had complimentary water.

We had breakfast there (off the menu and not the buffet) and it was very good.

The front desk helped us numerous times for everything from currency exchanges to arranging a taxi for us to the airport.

When we got to the airport, my traveling companion realized her Iphone was still in the taxi. We called the hotel, who called the taxi company, and made arrangements for the taxi driver to return to the airport where he dropped us off to return the phone.

The location is within walking distance to 6/10 of the hightest rated attractions in Istanbul.

The room was clean, sufficient in size, AC worked, good

The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff (Taha and all other guys I met, couldn't remember all names unfortunately) was amazing. They went over and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Istanbul!

Very very good little boutique! Very clean and centric place to be in Istanbul. 3min Walk from Blue Mosque and other great attractions from Turkey. Transportation 🚊 tram 🚕 taxi or even 🛴 electric scooters! 4.5 Star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is my review/ we did only sleep on our stay so we didn’t explore as much the hotel. But I highly recommended- Location Location….Location🙌
