Staff were polite. The toilet was very difficult to flush. There was a constant noise of a boiler or something behind the wall coming on throughout the night. Breakfast Friday was good. On Saturday there seemed to be a shortage of items for the breakfast. The pool was nice. Location was good.

Stayed for 2 nights room not cleaned no fresh towels tea/coffee satchels not replaced. Hotel had no atmosphere. It was hard to tell who were staff as they had no unique uniform. We didn’t eat or drink in the hotel as there are some excellent pubs and restaurants around the town. I found this hotel to be expensive for what they offer and watch out for the nightly car parking charge.

The woman at check in was absolutely wonderful! The room was not. The mattress was horrible. The sheets were stained. The bathroom door lock had been changed but not finished. The shower curtain was moldy. The shower was moldy. Just not good.

The hotel is in a convenient location although a bit run down. Additionally, I specifically requested twice prior to arrival to not have a room on the ground floor that would also be quiet and was put instead on arrival, in a ground floor room with a view of the car park. Needless to say, it was very noisy due to the cars and proximity to the main road. The reception staff told me the hotel was fully booked and did not apologize for the mishap, ensuring me the room would be quiet, which is it was most definitely not.

As a 3 star hotel the roomswere not clean towel were changed after 3 days the food menu was very sparse meals over priced

Make sure you get the right room

The hotel is OK as long as you get the right room. There are a few rooms that have a plumbing issue with sewer smells and room 108 is next to some sort of generator that intermittently comes on and off next to the headboard. Not very noisy but noticeable and not constant so does interrupt your quality of sleep.
Staff are lovely and friendly, the breakfast is ok, nothing special but is ok. Hotel itself is clean but a little frayed around the edges. 3rd time I’ve stayed. 2 rooms good, 1 room not good. Colleagues had the sewer smells in their rooms.

The upstairs was so dark that it was difficult to open the bedroom door. The bed was very hard. At 6am the bin men and other workmen ensured you were awake. the parking charge each day was £7.50

Room was clean and bed was comfy however they placed us on the 3rd floor (no lifts), even after we placed our car in the car park, that we had parked in a disabled spot. Very noisy from other residents, very noisy for people leaving the car park. Blind on the only window was torn and jammed meaning the light came in at 0530hrs. No shower gel in the bathroom and reception couldn't care using the excuse \"we were very busy last night\" even after charging me £131.

Very expensive - stay for a very basic room - 2 divan beds pushed togeather not fastened so middle opened up, no water in the room! No fridge. One out of date biscuit, toilet that didn’t flush properly and was constantly leaking. Empty hand soap. Given the price I’d expect the basics.

Lovely welcome but tired

We had a lovely weekend stay at the Angel Inn in Chippenham.
All of the staff were friendly and helpful, making us feel welcomed.
The room we booked was large and airy with a large king-size bed, a settee and a large bathroom.
However, everything in the room was tired.
One of the trims on the old wardrobe was coming off leaving sharp pins exposed.
The settee was hard and uncomfortable as was the bed which was very firm.
When it rained water came in through one of the three sash windows, we reported this to reception on leaving. It had not rained until our last night.
The bathroom walls were showing water runs on every painted surface, which were easy to spot when using the bath!
We were staying in the oldest part of the hotel so perhaps we were unlucky with the choice of room?
The food we had was delicious, well presented and there was plenty of choice.
We would stay in the hotel again as we really enjoyed the atmosphere, the facilities are well used by local people.

We came to Chippenham for a long weekend as we love Wiltshire. I have to begin by saying the staff we lovely and helpful.

The down side was the first room we had smelt of dog. We were moved to another room but were told that dogs are welcome in all rooms downstairs. We didn’t know that before booking

We also found that there was no hot water in our room in the evening, we were advised at the reception to run the hot water for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure hot water came through. That worked but a little later we had to run it again for another 10 or 15 minutes.

The outside of the building is not well lit and my wife went out to car and on her way back in tripped up on the first step, which as i said was not well lit. When i got outside the where my wife was sitting she had a nurse, who was using the swimming pool and was just leaving the hotel when she found my wife. My wife was in a state of shock and had a swelling on her nose where she hit the other step with her nose. We had to go to the minor injuries unit and was advised to go to our local hospital to check to see if her nose is broken or not.

I would love to thank the nurse for her care and attention to my wife. The duty manager was also considerate in many ways.

Would we visit there again? No i don’t think so!

Parking Fee??

I was disappointed that the hotel charged for parking your car in their car park. For me no hotel should charge their guests a fee for parking.

Also when I got a drink of coke from the bar it was served from a plastic coke bottle. The drink was flat.

Although the rooms were comfortable and spotlessly clean I found the hotel to be soulless and very matter of fact.

Great location. Shops and restaurants on the doorstep. The hotel has a very relaxed feel with a cosy lounge area to kick back with a wine or coffee. Great staff, friendly and helpful.
The pool and the gym are great extras.
The rooms do not have AC, but we had a room fan which helped.
My only criticism would be there was nowhere to put our clothes, as no chest of drawers, only a small wardrobe.

Perfect location. Lovely modern room on top floor in the new building. Half the property seems to be the original coaching inn and half a new build with the pool.

No negative points but easy wins would be no shower gel in room, only shampoo/conditioner, robes and slippers to go down to the pool in would be a treat.

A pleasant, yet sub-standard stay. Generally good!

The bedside lights in my room didnt work, but the main ones did. No airconditioning meant a warm night, but there was a fan so that was acceptable. The breakfast was very average, and esepcially the sausages, they were a bit tough... Overall though, room was clean and tidy and had all the ammenities... also the chap manning the night desk was nice and dropped me off so toilet roll when asked. The bar and waiting areas were nice, and the overall ambience pleasing.

Lovely hotel, very dog friendly, was refreshing to take our pets with us and have them sit and dine with us at breakfast and lunch.
Usually we get pushed into a dog friendly designated room which is ok but I wanted a bigger nicer room this time. Which the Angel managed to do for us.

Disability room set up was ideal and clean. Few area where not as accessable but sure would of found option. Menu didn't have allergy information so had to get staff to ask chef. Very bright and pretty in restaurant so I opted for room service as sensory overload but what I saw was beautiful. Outside area looked lovely sadly weather forecast meant sitting outside wasn't possible but lovely set up. Swimming pool area looked clean but wasn't open on visit. Carpark and ramp at back so access to one side of building easy but then steps to reception and couldn't see ramp to get down. All level access from front but again to get up stairs to get to other side of building. Lovely stay

The hotel is in a great location in the town centre, near to both the bus and train station, giving easy access to Bath.
We opted for breakfast but on each morning there were issues with some breakfast items running out and a delay in them being replenished.
We ate in the restaurant one evening and it was very good, great food and service.
Our room was newly refurbished, I asked for a ground floor room and access was great. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided in the room. Bed was large (super king) and comfortable, great shower.
Towels were replaced despite being hung on the towel rail, so disappointed as we were happy to use them again.

Not worth the money

Stayed here for 5 nights because I was working in the area.

Pros: 3rd floor rooms was a big size and check-in was quick.

Cons: Breakfast was very disappointing (3 out of 10) and one evening I ordered a burger from the bar, I asked for a receipt which I needed to claim on my company expenses but the receipt was barely readable. I told the bar staff if I can’t have a proper receipt can you refund me, she then called a gentleman to speak to me who I think was the owner who started going on a rant about brexit & delays with cash-carry’s etc... I then stated again why I need a receipt and he made the bar girl write over faded sections. I didn’t want to waste any more time so just accept it - this alone put me off staying again.

When I finally took the food to my room I was very disappointed, the so called chips + the burger itself tasted uncooked so I ended throwing in it the bin and ordering food outside.

We had a false fire alarm one night at 2am and everyone had to wait outside in the carpark until they let us back in again.

This is a very average hotel, old fashioned rooms - cold in winter/hot in summer. Don’t stay on a Thursday - it seems everything is awaiting delivery on a Friday (croissants/bar drinks as a examples). It’s central and there is a nice quiet garden/courtyard area to sit in and free parking, but I would not chose to stay here.

Can't quite put my finger on what feels wrong.

Room was fresh and clean but mattress not very comfortable. Large tear in duvet cover. Nice to have fan in room but dusty and too powerful for room. Food mediocre at dinner but young wait staff trying their best. After several attempts phoning hotel over a few days before our stay, no one ever answered. After 2 emails heard back from receptionist who said she was busy. When checking out, two receptionists at desk, one of whom was helping someone. Other girl seemed to just stare into the air. I was standing 4 feet from her and after waiting 5-6 minutes, I finally said I wanted to check out and she seemed surprised to find someone standing there. I handed her my key, then asked if she wanted my room number. Perhaps she was new and being trained? Would I stay here again? Probably not.

One desk drawer between 2 people and no other drawers or cupboards. No doubt the hotel will argue that these have been removed because of covid restrictions, but the night before we stayed at the Royal Chase Best Western in Shaftesbury where we had 3 chests of drawers. So if one Best Western can provide them, why not another?
