Thank you so much this was the perfect stay! The coloring book and pencils were a HUGE hit we cannot thank you enough for the best stay! Breakfast was also delicious - so was the room service and food at the restaurant. Thank you!!
Thomas
We had an amazing stay at the great Southern Killarney, our stay was enhanced by the excellent information provided us by the concierge Sean who helped us immensely to enjoy the beautiful area surrounding Killarney. Our room was magnificent. Everything about our stay was perfect and we hope to return.
William
We booked two rooms for our family and our stay coincided with the heat wave. One was interior but had a/c and was quiet at night. The other was an upgraded suite but it did not have a/c so the only option for air flow was to keep the balcony door open. Sadly, the balcony opened to the hotel wedding reception area so our evenings were disturbed by music with heavy bass and chatter until 12:30am all nights of our stay.
Samantha
Outstanding service . It was also a great location with the park and shopping nearby .
Chelsea
Great location and helpful staff. Beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our stay.
Stephen
Fantastic Hote just a short walk from downtown area. Great restaurant for dinner and breakfast and for such a hotel, great value for money. Staff were very helpful. Room was spotless and well appointed. This is a top class hotel that is well served of the 5*
Anthony
Fantastic place, and an amazing value when the price dips under $300. Not quite the full 5-star service, but pretty close. A grand older building, with enormous grounds. Great food as well.
Kim
Beautiful hotel with past century charm, but modern in every way. This was an old Railroad era grand hotel. Rooms are huge with nice furniture. The staff could not have been better. Breakfast was excellent. Location is easy walking distance to pubs, stores, restaurants in downtown area. About 5 minutes drive to Killarney National Park. After having stayed 2 nights at Ashford Castle, I didn't think any other hotel could measure up. This one did.
John
The grounds, the hotel rooms, everything was in excellent condition. We had a wonderful staff person Salvio who greeted us with a heartfelt smile, helped us in anyway he could. We would recommend this to anyone especially if you are traveling by train It is right next door but there’s no noise from the station. This hotel is historic and very ell built
Greg
This is a great hotel with easy waking access to Killarney. The Ring of Kerry is very accessible. The staff is wonderful, the grounds are immaculate and the bar and food are very good. I highly recommend it.
Michelle
This hotel was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Beautifully appointed and well equipped with all amenities. This hotel continued to impress me. The gardens outside are stunning. My family and I commented repeatedly on how impressed we are were with the location, the staff and the hotel itself self. This place is worth the stay you will not regret it.
Kim
The hotel is beautiful and in a great location. Walking distance to great dinner spots, coffee shops and the castle & park. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The main restaurant was fabulous and so was the bar. I would 100% go back to this hotel. Our room was beautiful and clean and the bathroom was huge. The shower was great as well, good pressure and nice rain head, and full enclosed glass shower which is hard to find in hotels these days! Parking was really convenient as well. 10/10.
Judith

I usually don’t leave reviews, but this hotel was absolutely spectacular. The staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and comfortable throughout my stay. The facilities are beautiful and well-maintained. Easily one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at—I would definitely come back and highly recommend it to anyone.

Aoife
Absolutely beautiful hotel, the rooms were so clean and cozy. The furnishings were beautiful and the shower was excellent with white company bath products. The reception were very helpful when we forgot our phone charger! Only small complaint was some loud noise late at night but I think there was a wedding on. Breakfast buffet was also 10/10, everything was so fresh and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay here!
mary

John
The atmosphere and staff very relaxed and welcoming

We didn't t have time to fully appreciate the property and its rich history. The room, restaurant and gym were all very nice. It was an excellent location to town and had convenient parking adjacent to the hotel which was a major selling point for us!
William
Hotel for the Ring of Kerry
One of the best hotel stays we have ever had, from the moment we arrived we were made to feel special and that did not decline throughout our stay. The hotel itself is spectacular but its greatest asset is the staff. Polite and courteous, willing to take time to engage in conversation, from the doorman through to the cleaners, service in the restaurant and the bar second to none. I was allowed to keep my road bike in my room and the welcome pack of energy bars and supplements due to doing the Ring of Kerry Charity ride was a totally unexpected treat, that just goes to show how they make your stay personal. When we return to Killarney the Great Southern will be our hotel of choice.

Favourite hotel stay in Killarney
Very spacious room. Staff as always friendly and efficient. Easy parking.
Only issue was 9pm Sunday morning just after 8am there was noise outside our room- sounded like a saw cutting thru timber or a sander- very poor that such work would be allowed 8n hotel grounds over weekend

The staff was great, friendly and very helpful. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would definitely come back. We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet in the morning. Plenty of options and lots to select from.

The hotel is beautiful and clean. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to help. They are as accommodating as possible. We got in very early from the US and we were exhausted, they allowed us to check in a little early and even comped our breakfast the first morning. The breakfast is included and is incredible! So many options and so delicious, I looked forward to it each morning. I missed it when I got back home. The hotel is near the center of town and it's just a short walk to all the restaurants and shops. We loved our stay and we would definitely stay here again.
Margaret
What a lovely, elegant place to stay in Killarney, close to the town center, but a quiet oasis harking back to a glorious time. The bar and lobby area of the hotel are gorgeous. Service is impeccable. And the breakfast is very good.
Benedict
A charming traditional hotel with a beautiful garden area. Breakfast was excellent, both food and service. The majority of the guests were seniors.
It was a quick five minute walk to the main restaurant and pub area. I would go back sometime.

This has been hands down my favorite hotel I've stayed in. The history of this hotel and grounds is varied and interesting. The rooms were beautifully appointed. The beds were plush with firm and soft pillows to choose from. The staff is impeccable. Their attentiveness to our family during our stay made our stay memorable in the best way. The gastronomy options are excellent as is the wine and spirits selection.

Weekend away
It was a fabulous hotel, staff were amazing 👏, at breakfast we waited 40 minutes familys that came in after us were all served and had eaten and left before we got ours. Even do our order had been taken 40 minutes prior, but saying that the food when we got it was 5 stars,

Absolutely blown away! From the moment we stepped foot in GSK we were greeted and treated so kindly. We were told they upgraded our room and also added complementary breakfast to our two night stay. The room was immaculate and staff was always willing to help or guide us on our stay. Thank you for making our first visit to Killarney so special Great Southern Killarney! We will be back!
Mariela
I have no idea at all how people are rating this? Has no one ever stayed at a true 4/5 star hotel?
There is black mould in the tile grout? What excuse could he possibly put forward to not have this cleaned? It’s so so bad. I get decor, I get the age of the property, I get all of the authenticity. Basic general cleanliness and hygiene doesn’t cost anything.

Just so so.
Unfortunately really just mediocre. We loved the location and history of the hotel but the service , food and amenities was just okay. A real lack of attention to detail.
Mark
Very nice stay, good breakfast and right in the heart of town

A True Gem in Killarney
I stayed here with my wife and toddler while the hotel was undergoing a renovation. Not only did we not notice the renovation - it was one of the nicest stays of our entire trip. The room was spacious, giving us plenty of space to spread out. There were even some extra things I didn't expect, for example a toddler sized rocking chair in our room, and a putting green. The hotel staff was attentive, accommodating, and extremely friendly. The hotel was clean, quiet, in a great location. I would love to stay here again someday!
Mary
Great location! Walking distance to pubs, shops, etc. very safe and quiet area.
Jeffrey
What a beautiful hotel. Very friendly staff. Had high tea on our first day in the hotel. What a great experience. Thank you for making it memorable
Rory
Beautiful old hotel, restored nicely. You can hear the guests above you walking around - part of the charm of an old hotel I guess!

Great Hotel
Maria was a fantastic hostess and couldn’t have been more welcoming and professional. She took care of us from check in till check out. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous. Hope to return one day.
Michael
Beautiful hotel but check in was bit bumpy. Arrived late but no staff to assist with bags and real confusion on valet options for car. Staff was friendly enough but did not seem to understand the process. Just a tick off our experiences at other fine Irish hotels. Just needs to button up their procedures a bit!
Ashley
Absolutely stunning and everyone was so nice and welcoming.
Barbara
The Great Southern Killarney is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL property! The staff is OUTSTANDING ~ so friendly, so helpful, and very polite. They go above & beyond their \"job descriptions\" if that makes sense. LOL!
Michael
Awesome!
LAURA
By far the BEST Hotel we stayed during our vacation in Ireland. everything was perfect. the staff was very professional and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. the parking was convenient and right next to the hotel property. we walked everywhere in town. the Hotel has a very nice bar with live music. would stay there again and will for sure recommend to anyone traveling to Killarney.

Fantastic hotel.
A wonderful, stately, grand hotel. Probably the best hotel outside of Dublin. Well trained staff was friendly, courteous and efficient. Located close to everything. Just a fantastic experience.
Laura
Adequate
After the initial mix up with the room, and a prompt for a cup of tea while we waited for them to ready a ready. The room was adequate, twin beds pushed together - obvious by their fixed to wall headboards.
The pool was overrun with children, jumping in and throwing a mini rugby ball at pace across the pool.
Fireworks for a wedding that night were and added bonus and the hotel had thought ahead to pre-warn and invite viewing.
Not a 4 star hotel but adequate.

The hotel is beautiful! All of the front desk staff and most of the restaurant staff are service oriented. The bellman directed to us to a ramp so we could bring our own suitcases up. Once inside, the hotel had bellman take our luggage to the room, once it was ready. It's easy walking distance to town, even for an older person like myself. It's refreshing to have a large parking lot in which to park adjacent to the hotel. The breakfast was very nice, but I would have liked an omelet option. Dinner was delicious. Overall, we were vey happy to have stayed there in such a beautiful hotel.

Would stay there again in a heartbeat!
One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Not the most expensive or the fanciest but the service and staff were exceptional.

We had a wonderful stay if only for 2 nights . The room was terrific as was the food . But what really made the difference was the staff . They were by far the most friendly and accommodating that I have come across and were what made the stay out of the ordinary.

Amazing hotel. Clean, quiet and so central to Killarney.

The staff were friendly, warm and welcoming and the hotel itself was very well presented. There were plenty of hand sanitisation stations dotted throughout the public areas which put my mind at ease during my short stay in the hotel. (September '20)

Has all the Hallmarks of Rip-Off Ireland about it!
Only fair to be honest!!!
Having booked one of their (on site but away from the main hotel) apartments for a family stay-cation, we were all very underwhelmed with the quality of the rooms and decor. I get the whole covid compliance thing, but this experience went to the extreme. The \"Queen-Size\" bed was just two singles pushed together and the main bedroom completely lacked character (starting with nothing on the walls).
I hope you are an early riser...if not, the fact that there are no drapes in any of the bedrooms, the sunrise will have you up and doing nice and early (pic taken before 8am). Failing that, the railway station tannoy from right next door will more than get you moving!!!
My family and I have stayed at this hotel many times in the past, without complaint. The staff are fantastic throughout, nothing is ever too much to ask.
These \"apartments\" are more suited to business centre type use, keep doing what you do best with your hotel rooms. At €500 per night, there must be better than this.

Superb stay and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly

The main lobby is beautiful with a touch of modern however it only goes as far as lobby and bar. I found the room uncomfortably warm for the 2 days we were there with the window open as far as it could (4in) the entire time. Staff were nice and wore masks the entire time. we ate at both the bar (Brownes) and restaurant (Garden Room). Chowder / soups were same in both. The Garden room was very expensive for food that was of just of pub quality.

Very clean, perfect location and just felt safe there with regards to COVID 19
