The quality of the hotel was exceeded only by the quality of the staff. Everyone was courteous, helpful and accommodating. The rooms were comfortable, especially the mattress, and the bathrooms crystal clean. And the breakfast was outstanding. The Arbutus gets our highest recommendation. I

The atmosphere was lovely, the staff was fantastic. My room was facing the street so quite noisy but I’m a heavy sleeper so I was fine. The shower had hair on the floor when I got there and I couldn’t tell if the floor was just old or not quite clean. Overall a fine stay considering the main goal was to go around the ring of Kerry, not to stay in my hotel room! The location was great for nearby eats & pubs too.

Wonderful staff and very spacious rooms. Stayed in a triple room (for 3 people) and it was more than big enough. Very warm feeling in this hotel. Breakfast in the morning was really good. Good quality food and you can tell they put their heart into their service. Bathrooms are nice and spacious. I would stay again.

Really enjoyed this hotel especially the live music in the pub nightly. Three ladies were exceptional musicians and singers and showcased perfectly Irish music.
Hotel was close to shopping and countless restaurants and parking was great to explore the surrounding countryside.

Best hotel of our stay in Ireland

Small gripe, but i do not know why these hotels say they are eco friendly and if you want to reuse your towel to leave it hanging, but then they replace it anyway. What is the point? You either are or are not eco friendly in that regard.

It's an old property but very well kept and above all, the staff is great.
Asking for an internal room could solve the outside noise issue though the internal sound proofing is not great so have some earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
On Saturday evenings and Sundays all day, the public car park is free of charge.
Overall great value for money and would stay here again.

What a wonderful, charming property right in the middle of town. It could not have been more convenient to everywhere we wanted to go -- shopping, pubs, restaurants, and the Christmas parade came right past the front door! And the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Just wonderful. The Buckley's bar attached was our staple for drinks and cozy fireside dinners, and the hot breakfast to order was an unexpected treat. This will absolutely be the first choice on the next visit!

On any other day this would be a great location, but with the carnaval in the back yard they really should have warned or accommodate foe those who aren’t there to be up all night listening to people scream until 11 am. The girl at the front desk seems to think that it’s a normal hour to go to sleep. As well as when I asked her to double check if the room was on the quieter side, she confirmed so but it was facing directly the carnaval.

The service during our stay was faultless, very welcoming and friendly staff. Easy check in and out. Helpful with our baggage and any questions we had. Breakfast wasn't quite to the standard we hoped but it was plentiful. Coffee/tea was served promptly and toasts and butter topped up without us having to ask. Lovely homemade scones too.
Room was very spacious with a lovely bright bathroom. Some noisy footsteps early in the morning above us but to be fair it is an older building so it can't be helped. Room faced the street but with windows closed and curtains drawn it was pretty quiet. If you want a classic, comfortable old-school hotel with good old-fashioned manners, I would recommend a stay here. Very centrally located.

Pretty surroundings with loads of antique furniture and interesting paintings . 2 comfortable lounges and a bar connected to the hotel which was ideal . Restaurant food was very nice and also plentiful and an extremely reasonable cost . Breakfast was great with lovely bacon & sausages . Bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds and good quality linen. Only thing is bottled water should be included.. will definitely stay at the Arbutus again & reccomend to friends and family.

1 night in Killarney

One day stay in Killarney so that we could get out to see the Ring of Kerry. That piece was great, but the hotel was a disappointment. 4* price but bearly that quality. Musty smell in the room when I arrived. No parking, or even a voucher for parking. Receptionist was friendly and efficient. Poor Wifi quality in the rooms, none in the breakfast area.

Everything we tried for breakfast (coffee, scones, french toast, omelette, porridge) was delicious!

Room was clean and stocked with necessary toiletries/amenities. Furnishings were slightly more worn than appear in the photos, but this was not an issue for us.

I stayed three nights here recently and really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was very clean and also very quiet. My room at the back of the hotel was very comfortable And the staff were excellent, I would particularly like to mention Betty and also the barman. The breakfast was delicious and very varied even though COVID restrictions were in place and there was no buffet. There was parking available at the back of the hotel which was free from 6pm to 9am and outside of this time the cost was €3 per day which was very good value. This is a lovely small independent hotel and whilst you won’t get vast expanses of marble floors, a bank of lifts, water features in the lobby etc you will get great service, a clean and very comfortable bedroom, great breakfast, helpful staff and a very small accommodation bill for what you receive.no frills no fuss but a fantastic hotel. Can’t wait to return

Lovely hotel in the heart of Killarney

We had a wonderful stay at the Arbutus! The hotel is located right by the train station, so we had no problem walking there when we arrived. The staff was very kind and helpful; the concierge even printed out train schedules for us and helped us to plan the next leg of our trip. We were even offered free breakfast when I mentioned that my father and sister had stayed there the previous year.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was lovely and sparkling clean. We enjoyed the breakfast, which was more than your typical continental hotel breakfast--it included table service and traditional Irish dishes including salmon and brown bread.

We went to The Shire Pub for dinner our first night, which is just across the street from our hotel. Killarney is a beautiful and very walkable town, and we found The Arbutus to be perfectly located for all we wanted to do. It was close to the Tesco (supermarket) and to the bike rental place where we got bikes to go into the National Park. I would recommend this gem of a hotel to anyone planning to visit Killarney--you will not be disappointed!
