We were overcharged- told a bottle of champagne was 60 euros when we purchased it and then they charged us 110 euros when we settled the bill. We raised it to the staff and the management but they would not honour what we had been told.
I would not recommend people stay there.

We were very happy with our stay. Great location from which to visit the old and new city. Super friendly staff!! The room was large with a wonderful balcony overlooking the old city. Nice garden with areas to sit and sip wine. We would stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel.

Our stay in hotel du Roí was excellent. We attribute our great stay to two of the staff members, the manager Yari and the restaurant manager Nicolas, both of these staff members made our stay wonderful. The hotel is exceptionally well located to visit the castle and the town. We also found the chefs food delicious and opted to eat at the hotel most nights.

Sadly the images of the terrace are misleading for most rooms. The image is of a terrace is for the top floor panoramic rooms only, whereas most rooms don’t get much of the sun and are covered by greenery. They use the same terrace image for all rooms on the booking, which implies lots of sinshine (no roof).

Great location

Very pleasant Hotel in a prime location on the river next to the old bridge with ready walking access to the old city. 2 nights in a comfortable room with bath and shower.
Breakfast was ample with a good range of cold and hot buffet items. Service was excellent with reception staff supportive and helpful.
On the critical side, the spacious balcony with good views of river, bridge and old town leaked from above, with tired floring. The spa is separate from the small hotel swimming pool at extra cost with the hot tub and sauna within the spa. No room service for food whilst the restaurant was open and fully booked.

Staff were superb, the view from the hotel was fantastic towards the old city/ castle and a short walk across the old bridge to the old town was 5 mins. The hotel had an indoor swimming pool which we used, it was clean and fresh towels were sat on the recliners next to the pool.
We stayed on a bed and breakfast and every morning you had the choice of cooked, fresh ham, cheese and pastries.
A small niggled for me was the dinner menu never changed the whole time we were there and we felt it could had a bit of a difference but each to their own.
A great stay made easier by the staff and standard of service. I would recommend a stay here 100%

Make sure to book a city view room. Our 3rd floor corner room was spacious with two double beds, a bath and separate shower and most importantly stunning views across the Aude of the Pont Vieux and the old city.
We stayed two nights with breakfast included. Breakfast had a good selection including champagne, much to my wife’s delight, and you could have it in the air conditioned breakfast/restaurant or on the terrace.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay but would reiterate that the view from the balcony was a major factor in our enjoyment. If it’s the same for you make sure to book a city view room.

What a gem of a location! The views of the walled city from the hotel garden and rooms were incredible. Great walkable location. Used the fitness centre and sat in the garden in the morning with coffee. The shower was the best (rain shower with great pressure!). Only there for one night but this place had everything we wanted.

This is not a 5* hotel, we had issues with lights in the room not working and a pipe running onto our balcony. Decor also needs updating. However, staff were wonderful and tried hard to make amends for the issues, very friendly and attentive. Shame Sowell group is neglecting the hotel.

4pm checkin is later than most hotels
Great pool use however steam room etc is part of spa at an additional cost of 45 euros per hour.

Poor Restaurant management

The hotel was excellent however the restaurant not so good. On our first night of two the manager tried to charge us for four extra drinks and if I hadn’t pointed this out we would have been charged. In the second night we booked into the restaurant and were told that out of an already sparse choice, two were unavailable. This was put down to it being a new menu. We left and ate in town

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. The room was an upgrade so we had a balcony and wonderful of the old city of Carcassonne. The bedroom had a huge open plan bathroom with large, round bath. We used the swimming pool, which is indoors and very nice for a quick dip. The breakfast was lovely!

We had a nice balcony room on the third floor with a great view of La Cité and the Pont Vieux. The balcony had not been very well cleaned or swept though which is the sort of detail that a hotel of this quality should get right. The same goes for some of the crockery at breakfast. They need to check on the dishwashing because some plates were not properly clean.

Not pet friendly at all

If you are travelling with a pet, this hotel is Not dog friendly
Your dog is not allowed in any areas apart from the room
This meant that we also could not use any of the other areas
We had to eat all meals away from the hotel despite the fact it was listed as dog friendly
We also paid an additional 40 euros for our dog to stay
We fully appreciate that people do not want pets nearby when they are eating but this hotel should make an effort to provide for pet owners
Not interested when we complained

We had a superior room with balcony
The balcony was filthy
The toilet seat was hanging off and the room was smelly
The tv was faulty

Pluses: very courteous staff, beautiful views of the Medieval City, convenient for that and for dining, very clean overall, good sized rooms, pleasant gardens.

Minuses: pool is very small and only opens at 10am, parking is near, very secure and easy to get to but the route back to the hotel is awful; it takes you all round the town on a one-way system, often choked with traffic. They do have their own parking - at 15 Euros per night.

Expensive, disappointing breakfasts not VFM

We paid for a full castle view and was given a partial view, when l went to ask for a room move the receptionist said you have booked via Hotels.com so they where not prepared to move us, albeit l’m Gold member.
Breakfasts are a disaster, the staff don’t clear tables or refresh the food! Stopped 3 nights every morning the same, on complaining the manager shrugged his shoulders to say so what!

We enjoyed our stay! It was clean, quiet, and had everything we needed. We really did appreciate the air conditioning and complimentary beverages in the fridge. I thought this hotel was worth the price we paid. Location was convenient and you could walk around very easily to restaurants or the castle. I would recommend this hotel!

AC needs to be rethink

Super friendly front desk staff. Couch in suite was broken we think, we were falling in the middle when sitting. Front desk manages the AC... Had to call each day because it was turned off \" automatically \". We had a suite with lots of windows so we had the option of keeping the blinds closed to be kept cool or toast with them open to have a view. Also, everyday day our keycard was not working. realizes that when we were sitting in lobby, a lot of people had the same issue. Weird. Lastly, housekeeping was very different than what we are used to when you pay $500 a night. Towels had make up from previous guest, if we had a pair of shoes in living room area, they would remain there rather then put them alongside a wall. PJ not folded and left on the floor after they made the bed, other then making bed I don't think they did anything else. Since not washed either. It was weird. I did ask and it seemed as if it was not normal to ask for vacuum and tidy up.

Wonderful Carcassonne base

The hotel was beautiful and perfect for the last night of our holiday in France. The front desk staff were very welcoming when we arrived early to store baggage and when we returned to check-in later they were helpful. The rooms are stunning, we had two spacious family rooms with balconies looking right out at the castle and walls. They were spotlessly clean and had everything we could need for refreshments and relaxing. The whole hotel looks recently refurbished to a high standard.
The outdoor area was a beautiful space to spend time in the evening, hearing the ducks on the river. Bar staff were also friendly and welcoming.
Location was perfect, between old and new parts of the town. In short, one of thd best hotels we've stayed jn as a family

Exceeded Expectations!

We really loved the hotel!
The beds were comfortable and everything was clean.
The communal hotel areas were lovely and welcoming and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We also loved the pool facilities and outdoor terrace with chess board!
The best view of the citadel was while we were sat eating breakfast.
I would really recommended this hotel and wish we could have stayed longer!

Exceeded Expectations!

We really loved the hotel! Our room was huge with a walk through bathroom attached and huge jacuzzi bath! The beds were so comfortable!
We were blown away by the room and the staff were so helpful and friendly. We also loved the pool facilities and outdoor terrace with chess board! And the best view of the citadel while sat eating breakfast.
I would 100% recommended this hotel and will go back, I wish that we stayed longer than 1 night!

We stayed here for two nights whilst we visited the city of Carcassonne. The staff were amazing, the city was beautiful and the hotel was excellent. The only reason we marked down the facilities was that our daughter would have liked the pool to have felt more child friendly and have been heated. All in all great place and I feel the pictures do not do it justice, would stay again if we return. Thank you.

We had a wonderful stay here at this beautiful hotel. Our room had a lovely view to the old city. The room was so nice with a comfortable bed and great bathroom. The bathroom is open to the bedroom (private toilet) so be aware if travelling with friends as opposed to partner.

Beautiful place. Terrace on the room had the best view of the bastide...wonderful! Great staff, comfortable and had everything we needed. The car park was a bit tricky to figure out, but pulled into the layby in front of the hotel, went to ask at reception and got directions to the underground parking just up the road at the square.

Really good hotel in an excellent location with room balcony views of the old bridge and the amazing Cite castle. Room cleaning service could have been better and the hotel bar closes at 11pm. More a 4* than a 5* hotel.

This is an unsafe place to be! Ordered a ginger beer at the hotel restaurant, and unbeknown to me, and therefore without my consent, was given a drink with hard liquor in it. Very dangerous! And one member of the staff suggested that it was my fault for drinking it, because I shoud have smelled the alcohol. This line of thought is dangerous!!

Then we arrived at 8:30pm and hotel told us the restaurant is fully booked (2 tables were dining only…) they told us we can order in room dining with extra costs of 20€ …
We asked for iron who never came….

I would have given the hotel a higher rating if it were not for the fact that it is an expensive 5 star hotel that did not feel like one. The service was poor, our room service took almost 2 hours and we still had to pay for the meal and the service charge. When we ordered wine it was like an inconvenience. There is no valet parking or luggage service which is odd for a 5 star hotel. It felt like a boutique hotel with limited amenities and a small staff.

Being a Hotels.com VIP member I was offered 10 euro voucher which can be used for food and drinks in the hotel. I had breakfast in the hotel but when I checked out the reception didn't allow me to use it. She said that it is only for drinks. I showed her the offer details then she said that it is only for dinner not for breakfast. This is not acceptable.
There a nice gym but hardly any weight lifting equipment. For such a 5 star hotel it is disappointing.
