Close to the castle. They supply filtered water in bottles because it gets used to local tap water. Lots of walking and steps up and down if you go on the ramparts all the way around the castle. .Enjoyed the evening light show taking place only on the part of the ramparts. Had a great dinner in Auberge de Lices.

On vacation but had some unexpected work. Had to sit in the hotel lobby to get a decent signal. Have stayed in on other Mercure properties without WiFi issues so not sure if specific to this hotel or a program they are rolling out

Just book it! This is a lovely property, right at the foot of la Cite. It has a charming garden, patio and pool; and an excellent breakfast buffet. A little gem. The view out the window was stunning at every hour. The light here, whether at sunrise, mid-day or sunset, is stunning. In the morning and evening the temperature here is cool and feels delightful. Truly a beautiful spot.

Nice quant hotel within an easy walk to walled medieval city that offers many dining options as does the area outside of the walled city. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. It's clean and well maintained with a nice indoor and outside eating area. Rooms were on the smaller side which is typical for older properties in Europe.

Excellent location very close to the walled city and with easy included parking. Easy check-in in an attractive lobby. Well appointed comfortable rooms complete with slippers and robes. Openable Windows, comfortable bed and pillows. However in our room, and especially in our bathroom, the lighting was poor and needs improvement. Also shower controls were confusing and a lack of grab bars makes showering dangerous. That said , the shower/tub design seems normal based on the many hotels we’ve stayed in in much of Europe. (I just don't understand the half-door separating the shower/tub from the bathroom.) Also no easy access to soap dispenser from seated position in tub. Restaurant pretty good for dinner. We didn’t have their breakfast. It was raining lightly during our visit and as such we were disappointed that the hotel did not have umbrellas to loan.

Really exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and helpful for checking to our departure. The room was clean, well laid out, comfortable and had a great view. A free soft drink mini bar to welcome you was a nice addition. The view from the bedroom was very nice. A lovely hotel with an excellent restaurant. We had a lovely lunch on arrival and an extensive selection at breakfast. The hotel has a good pool and a sunbathing area, with poolside bar, plus a nice lounge and terrace. Good private parking and a short walk to the entrance to the old city.

Great food and close to the castle.

The staff were very helpful in guiding us through the French menu in English. the steak was the best I have had after 2 weeks of travel in France. A different restaurant menu every night it seems. Also it is within easy walking distance to the Castle.

The hotel is within 5 minute walk of the Narbonne Gate of the medieval citadel of Carcassone. We had a lovely view of this amazing fortification from our room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was charming and very good. Absolutely perfect location if you are driving.

Friendly and helpful staff. There are only 3/4 taxis in the area and on arrival at the airport we could not get one. We rang the hotel who arranged it. The staff told us they were going to undertake a major renovation over the winter. We have stayed before here and could not fault it. In terms of location it’s immediately below the castle and a five minute walk.

Excellent choice for visiting Carcassonne.

We stayed at the Mercure for one night as part of a longer trip and wished we were staying longer! Staff were welcoming, breakfast was good, the hotel was very clean and the pool area was very nice.
Our room was excellent - very spacious and comfortable, lovely bathroom and very very quiet.
The location was also excellent for visiting the Cite. We walked there and back in just a few minutes and there is a bus between the Cite and the town/train station which we caught on the way up but we walked back down in around 20mins. Excellent choice for visiting Carcassonne.

Disappointing after previous great visit.

We stayed here before about five years ago in a beautiful ,light and airy room, opening onto the lovely gardens, and had a fabulous stay. Thus we were looking forward to our current trip. Unfortunately, we were placed in two small,, dark rooms on the other side of the hotel. This isn't the hotels fault, just our bad luck, but it does completely change the quality of the room and how much we enjoyed our stay. This alone would not have resulted in me writing a bad review, however I noticed the morning of our departure that there were lots of ants in the bathroom of one of the rooms. We quickly took all our belongings from that room and put into the other, which seemed to be ant free. Not quickly enough, as after we had left I found out that one of our bags was literally full of ants (we didn't have any food with us so found it unlikely that we brought them into the hotel). I would not stay here again. :(

Spent two nights at the hotel spoilt by poor air conditioning in our room which despite requests to reception was not rectified. Otherwise a good hotel in an excellent location. The outdoor area was most welcome.

Very comfortable stay close to Carcassonne city.

Overnight stop in a very comfortable, well located hotel for a visit to the medieval city. The room met all our needs for a short stay in April. Would have ideally liked something in between the somewhat regimented express breakfast and the full buffet breakfast. Inclusive parking was a benefit.
