Iris and BJ were wonderful hosts. In advance of our visit we communicated about our diet (vegan family) and they were able to provide us a nice breakfast every morning. We visited the area during warm weather and the swimming pool ended up being a refreshing part of our stay during the late afternoon hours.

Beautiful views, gracious hospitality!

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this home! The Schreuders made us feel right at home. They had great advice on places to eat dinner and the surrounding area, and they made us a delicious breakfast.

The view of the mountains from the back porch is STUNNING! Can't recommend this home enough!

We loved our hosts BJ and Iris. It was so nice to receive sucha warm welcome and lots of information about the area. It was the perfect location to visit the city. Away from the craziness of the city but only a 5 min drive to the action.

Wonder full

Our stay was nothing short than amazing. Barend and Iris were very welcoming indeed, and they helped us prepare for our visit. Before we arrived, I asked Barend for a place where I can taste local cheese and he gave me a very good suggestion, and while we are there my wife asked Iris for a farm where we can pick our own fruits, next morning Iris gave us a couple of suggestions that she googled during the night.
The area is very quiet, and the view is amazing. It is only a 5 minutes drive from the old City, Barend gave us 3 detailed maps of the city, the old city and the area nearby. We got a room with a terrace in the garden, and we used to park our car inside next to the terrace. The breakfast was amazing, with a selection of cheese, local made Jams, croissant and french bread, scrambled eggs, orange juice and fruit water, Tea and coffee, fruits ( watermelon, melon, apples, grapes and pears) and finally Fruit yogurt.

The owners were so well organised and helpful with ideas and maps for visits and recommended restaurants in the town, the Cite and the local area.

Overnight Stay in Carcassonne

My family and I stayed at Les Balcons de Maragon overnight and enjoyed our hosts and the beautiful location immensely. BJ and his wife were perfect hosts, waited for us to arrive although we were behind schedule, and prepared a marvelous breakfast for us the next morning. The view of the Pyrenees from the backyard is incredible.

Cozy B and B with an incredible view

It's all about the view at the breakfast tables! And the pool! Wow- what a way to start the day. The hosts were very kind too which set the tone for our wonderful short stay in Carcassone. A great place to stay if you have a car. It's a short drive into town.

This is an unusually comfortable and attractive property, whose owners are pleasant, helpful and interesting to get to know. The rooms are well-equipped, clean and comfortable. I would give this place the highest possible overall rating but for the fact that the photographs suggest an exceptional view (which was the reason I booked there), and the property certainly has an exceptional view, but our room had none nor did the spaces available to us as guests. To be fair, the owners did share their view at breakfast, which was excellent.

Perfect stopover to explore Carcassone

The owners, BJ and Iris, were so friendly and efficient, yet not intrusive. We were asked what time we wanted breakfast and it was ready at that time. They offered suggestions on places of interest and restaurants. The view from the breakfast area was stunning and the rooms were spacious, offering a very comfortable king size bed but also extras like a direct USB connection for charging the phone. Hébergement charmant très bien place et agréable

Un hébergement très pratique et fonctionnel, très agréable avec une entrée indépendante ce qui permet de ne pas déranger les hôtes.
L accueil est chaleureux et les bons plans sont au rendez vous.
La piscine est un plus tout comme les petit déjeuners copieux et fait maison!
Idéalement placé à quelques minutes seulement de la cité de Carcassonne!
Allez y les yeux fermés!

Les prestations comme le petit déjeuner , la vue incroyable sur les Pyrénées, la piscine ,sont excellentes même si il est dommage que la piscine soit seulement accessible de 16 a 19 h.

Excellent séjour - Charmant accueil

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour chez M et Mme Schreuder.
Leur accueil a été charmant dans leur maison très confortable.
La localisation est parfaite pour visiter la Cité de Carcassonne tout en profitant de superbes vues sur la région et les Pyrénées.
Pour les beaux jours une superbe terrasse avec piscine et une magnifique vue.

une adresse à retenir

Escale d'une nuit aux Balcons de Maragon pour une petite escapade à Carcassonne. Tout était parfait, l'accueil est chaleureux, la chambre est spacieuse et la salle de bain très moderne. A conseiller vivement, jusqu'au petit déjeuner copieux avec vue panoramique sur les Pyrénées. Notre hôte connait très bien la région et sait adapter ses conseils aux goûts des clients.

B&B muy bueno

Buena opción a las afueras de Carcassonne (7 minutos en coche), aunque difícil de encontrar sin gps. Los dueños son muy amables y serviciales, te hacen sentir muy bien. Sólo hablan inglés o francés, aunque para nosotros no fue ningún problema. La habitación que nos dieron tenía entrada privada al estar en la planta baja y dar al jardín de la casa. La cama era cómoda y todo estaba muy limpio. El desayuno fue perfecto, muy variado y rico.
Tienen parking incluido dentro de la casa, fuera al ser como una urbanización tampoco hay problema.
Como punto de mejora, instalación de persiana y cortinas opacas en la puerta de acceso a la habitación. Y una wifi más potente y rápida.

Great place and wonderful hosts

The hosts really put effort to make our visit wonderful, and the breakfast was just awesome (even for us who need gluten-free food). The room was comfortable, and the only downside was the master bed which were too soft for our comfort (due to some back problems), but others might feel otherwise or even find it luxurious, because it was a good bed. Parking was easy and we were given keys to come in late after our dinner.
