I liked location.
I dis not like communication, like no one answer when marked from room to front desk.
I had to ask every day for fresh clean towels.
Sink was plugged at arrivel but fixed upon request.
Every time you get out of the room with the key, the power shuts down including the air conditioning so when you come back from outside you find a warm room, I guess is good in an eco friendly way.

I did enjoy my stay at the hotel, but I found very inconvenient that the restaurant is only open during the day and doesn’t have the dinner option, very often the places outside are very crowded with big lines to get some food and the hotel should have the option to eat in the restaurant.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Half of them were native islanders who could good English. Quiet and air conditioning good. Excellent buffet breakfast include with good variety.Negative were the limited pool hours, 10am - 7pm and closed on Tuesdays for limited \"maintenance\", which is ridiculous. Needs ice machines and drinking water dispensers, though not generally available in Colombia.

The hotel is very central to everythign with minimal walkig distance. AVOID the restaurant - it's breakfast selection is extremely lackluster and most of it's restaurant crew is often cranky and unfriendly. If it wasn't for the restaurant I would give this hotel 5 stars.

First room was very small with no window so per our request we were walked to another room that had a window looking at the pool. Great. So I thought. After the front desk person left I pulled back the sheets and I saw a few body hairs and definite urine dribble. I went downstairs and wanted new sheets. Within minutes a housekeeper came by and I had to argue with her that yes she made the bed but with the previous guest's sheets. They were eventually changed. I found a chunk of lipstick on the bathroom counter which I tried to wipe up with a few sheets of toilet paper (kleenex must be considered a luxury) which smeared it even more. If only I had packed my own cleaning supplies! The shower spicket was not good and the weight of my 3.4 oz bodywash made the soap shelf fall to the shower ground. And those certainly didn't look like my hairs in the shower drain, and my stay had just begun. The other hotel guests walking down the hall after midnight must have been clueless that the bottom of the door had a big gap so their voices carried into my sanctuary. I tried to convince myself that no critters would slither into my room, since I was on the 5th floor. The last straw was that one of the recessed lights over the bed flickered every 20 seconds ALL NIGHT LONG. I posted it on YouTube.180 flashes per hr for every hour that I stayed in bed. One of the worst night's sleep I have ever had! The next day they tried to appease me with a different room, but I had had enough of Portobelo

Lo unico bueno que tiene es lo cerca que esta de la playa. El check in es un servicio muy muy lento los trabajadores se entretienen hablando entre ellos al pagar tenian problema con el datafono solicite hacer transferencia y no aceptaron me enviaron a la calle a sacar dinero en cajero luego de 40 min sacando plata cuando llegue nuevamente terminaron en entregarme la habitacion al dia sguiente llegue al hotel a las 4pm y la picsina estaba cerrada en recepcion nos dijeron que fue por la lluvia pero ya tenia casi 2 horas que habia dejado de llover estabamos varias personas a la espera que abrieran la picsina un trabajo le paracio mal que no abrieran y nos dijo que hiba a hablar con el gerente luego de 20 min bajo y dijo que no abririan la picsina uno de los guespedes pidio hablar con el gerente y no quizo atenderlo esa misma noche dali a comer llegue al hotel a media noche y perdi mi TAPABOCAS el hotel estaba cerrado solo estaba un trabajador en la recepcion q no me abrio la puerta me dijo q tenia q buscar un tapabocas mi esposa entro para buscar en la habitacion entiendo muy bien que por motivos de pandemia sea obligatorio pero cuando tu negocio no es vender un producto si no prestar un servicio para nada les cuesta tener una caja de tapabocas que solo cuesta 10 mil pesos y

The staff here are not the friendliest. We actually called to see if we could get a water delivered to our room and the desk said no and hung up on us. The wifi is pretty much nonexistent so hopefully you don't need to rely on that. Some of the food service staff were friendly and took good care of us but the that’s about it. Overall I would recommend staying elsewhere.

This hotel has the best location in island of San Andres, the staff was always friendly, supportive and available, and the breakfast buffet was always delicious. However, the wifi was never stable, a heavy rain caused an opening on the ceiling right next to the light bulb and one night I left a small red stain of spicy salsa on the linen and It wasn’t changed for a new one (I found out that to be strange).

Upon arrival it took them very long to confirm my reservation with expedia. Then even though I paid for 2 people they said my reservation was only for you. The room is very muggy and smells like humidity unless you turn on the ac that takes forever to turn on. (No windows in the room either) The wifi was horrible, i had better service at the beach. & as i was trying to make a phone call in the couches at reception I saw a huge cockroach.

I really enjoyed myself at the Portobelo Hotel. The location was in the heart of downtown and a very short walk to shops and the beach. I cannot rave enough about the staff: everyone was pleased, knowledgeable, and professional. The room was perfect for me and clean. The food from the breakyto the dinner was purely delicious 😋. The gym was just what I needed to workout 🏋️‍♀️ on my stay. The pool was also nice and relaxing. Again the staff were fantastic with places to visit, things to do, where to eat, etc. Maria in the restuarant, Leroy and Ashny at the front desk ( as well as the other staff, can’t remember their names) were unbelievable. I highly recommend this hotel as you won’t regret it. I will definitely be back there to stay again. In my opinion, Portobelo Hotel is 5 ⭐️ s.

The hotel was clean and comfortable but feel our stay could have been so much better with a little a thought from the hotel management in how to look after it's guests. For example, the hotel has a rule that you cannot enter the pool area if you are wearing Sun cream, which prevents pale skinned people like me from using the lovely pool and sun beds unless I wanted to get severe sun burn. WiFi was very poor even in reception areas and non existent in bedrooms.

Hotel of thousand rules

The hotel is located perfectly in the city centre and close to the main beach, a good starting point for just any activity on the island. It's clean and un good condition. The staff were very diverse though with regards to service orientation. Some would go out of their way to make requests possible, others were not so helpful, sticking to the way too many rules this place has. I'd suggest the hotel to consider some more flexibility, e.g. not making guests wait for check-in until 1500 hrs if a room is ready earlier. Like almost every place on the island, the hotel is quite overpriced. All in all we had a good time though.

Its location is perfect and within walking distance of the beach and shopping areas. Tour packages of The Island could be purchased at The Hotel which made my stay so much more fun and easier.

Newer but still average

Newer construction hotel (but still with cheap finishings), centre of town, not on beach. Good if limited breakfast buffet, elevators, decent pool. Rooms quite small, noisy from halls, and no views or balconies, but hot water was plentiful. Main issue was cleanliness of room; returned from diving at mid day to find that housekeeping had just been, and left a still very wet floor, greasy from some sort of cleaning fluid or dirty mop. Dirt remains on floor just pushed around with a mop. I almost slipped and fell, and did not feel that it was truly cleaned. Housekeeping also attempted to enter my room again about an hour after, which I found odd as it had been cleaned already and they did not knock, just tried to walk in abruptly and found me in a towel saying it was occupied. Left a tip everyday which they did not pick up. Restaurant staff by contrast very friendly and helpful. In general staff seemed not to care one way or the other. Overall you won't get any extras here and it's quite pricey for a very basic place.

Nice stay for one night

My wife and I stayed here for one night as we were passing through on our way to Providencia. Although we booked it last minute, the rate was ok (for San Andres at least), the entire hotel felt brand new, and it was close to the airport and had everything we needed. Really the only thing I didn't like about the hotel was that our room did not have a window (I'm not sure if others do - but ours didn't). They try to make up for it by putting a lit up big beach picture on the wall, but it doesn't make up for not having natural light come in. Since we only spent one night there it wasn't a big deal, but if we were there for multiple days it would've. Overall a perfectly fine place to stay near the airport in the town center.

We checked in on Thursday night, it was a process but finally got to our room. It smelled of fresh paint. There was no window. It was like a tomb, not knowing what time of day it was or the weather because there was no window to look out. The lights needed to be on at all times and they were bright, no ambient lighting. Friday the painters were at it again. The whole 4th level smelled of paint. By now it was irritating and causing headaches for both myself and my husband. Breakfast was fine. The staff in breakfast room were exceptional and friendly. Check out on Sunday went smoothly enough but there was little communication because staff spoke no English, so there was some little problems trying to explain any concerns. It was an alright hotel but under the circumstances, no window and painting issue I feel we were overcharged.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Portobelo. Service very friendly, especially at breakfast. No room service or a restaurant. Pool in the middle of hotel is nice. It's basically just a place to sleep and then head out the next day. It's in a great location. Prices will go up soon as it's still under construction. No noise that would bother a guest though. Oh, the hot water does not always work or takes a long time to get hot, maybe they will fix that in the future.

Minha experiência com esse hotel foi péssima. O quarta era muito sujo e banheiro fedia e inundava tudo hora do banho. Passavam em dias alternado para fazer a “limpeza” e a troca de toalhas. Os funcionários da recepção muito mal educados e perdidos no atendimento. Fiquei 2 dias pedindo secador de cabelo porque no quarto não tinha e quando fui na recepção falavam que todos já estavam ocupados. O café da manhã era péssimo. A academia só funciona com agendamento prévio e ar condicionado estava estragado. Enfim, não recomendo!

STAY AWAY FROM PORTOBELLO HOTELES
Aircondition dident work, the rooms where small, and very unplesant
We got moved to portobello beach/conferencias
We acepted and paid a deadent amout to change and for bigger rooms, and we should have the rooms ready right away
Rooms where ready, But we needed to wait for and extra 5 hours
The resepsjonist where really unfriendly, rooms where not cleaned.
Every time we told our complains they dident take anything seriosly
