This was a beautiful beautiful place. The only issue that I had is that it took three days for maintenance to come and fix my phone two days for them to fix my ceiling fan which still wasn’t working after they fixed it and one day to fix plumbing issues I’m not sure if it was specific to my room, but I will acknowledge that part of the time lapse happened due to possible language barriers but then I also did go straight to the concierge, maybe I didn’t go to the right person or was not told the right person to go to other than that the service staff at the restaurants and buffets were beautiful and lovely. The photographers were so nice. The bartending staff were so delightful. Could’ve been a little bit heavy on the drinks overall I would go back.

This was my second time visiting, my first time was 5 months ago and compared to then I found my most recent experience much poorer. We waited for over an hour to check in with a big line up and only two people working the desk in an unairconditioned building while it was 37° outside. The people in front of us were served beverages while the worker serving them just stood there looking at us not even offering. When first arriving to my room I was relieved the air conditioning worked properly in my room (this time…) although our shower curtain was covered in mold, our fridge wasn’t stocked, there was a musty odour that stayed in our room the whole trip we’d noticed each time we returned to our room, the fan in our bathroom didn’t work, and there was unspecified black dots covering our full body mirror in our room and we were disappointed the beach was covered in seaweed making it unable to swim in the ocean. Other than that it was a great trip. We loved our balcony, the meals weren’t too bad and the restaurants were run well, the bar service was great and we really enjoyed the smaller pool as it was much less busy, we used tennis rackets given to us by the resort and enjoyed an activity run by the entertainment team. Good place for kids and adults.

During my stay, I noticed several areas that require improvement:

• The sea water and beach area need regular cleaning to ensure a pleasant and safe environment for guests.
• The room furniture is outdated and should be replaced or renovated to provide more comfort.
• The bathtub design is inconvenient, as it requires lifting the leg very high to get in, which is uncomfortable and potentially unsafe.
• The food variety was limited, and there were no exotic fruits available, which was disappointing.
• More umbrellas on the beach should be provided to give guests enough shade.
• The presence of wild animals roaming around the hotel grounds is concerning. They first go through the trash bins and then enter the restaurant area where people eat. This is unhygienic and could lead to health issues.

Overall, the hotel has potential, but these issues need to be addressed to improve the guest experience.

We had a great time during our recent stay. There were a few things that I would change, such as the shower in our room definitely needed an upgrade and the patio door didn’t lock correctly so a raccoon got in our room at 3am. Our room was not cleaned the second day we were there and we had to wait until after 4pm the next day and go find someone to ask them to come clean the room. The food was great at the buffet restaurants and the steakhouse. The coffee shop was great. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We loved the photographers that were around the resort and got some really awesome pictures. The entertainment staff did a fantastic job. Overall it’s a nice resort, definitely need to add a swim up bar as there is not one but we would stay here again.

Blue Bay is becoming an old facility, When we arrive my wife went to take a shower and the shower handle fell off, the towel rack and the bathroom was also falling off the wall. The staff at Blue Bay is excellent. The food is mediocre and very repetitious. The specialty restaurants are a joke you have to make a reservation and the food there is not very good either. This Resort came as a high recommendation but the people that recommended it to us were there 10 years ago. From there description and what I saw the property is gone downhill quite a long ways. The swimming pools are very nice however they lack any shaded areas at all. I would not spend my money to go back to this Resort again!

I recently stayed at Blue Bay on a solo trip and was invited to a breakfast presentation upon arrival introducing a vacation membership promotion. The sales approach was very high-pressure, with urgency tactics suggesting I would lose the deal if I didn’t sign immediately. Feeling pressured and without enough time to research, I agreed and paid a $1,395 deposit plus monthly payments.

The following day, after reviewing the contract and reading outside reviews, I became very uncomfortable with the decision. I realized this was not a good financial choice for me and decided to cancel within the 5-day cancellation window outlined in the agreement, which states a full refund should apply.

After canceling, I was informed that deductions would still be made for promotional items received, including a bracelet ($120) it’s a normal bracelet* and gift bag ($149), despite no clear explanation at the time that these would be charged if I canceled. I still have these items and am willing to return them.

While the resort itself is beautiful and the staff are kind and professional, this sales experience significantly impacted my vacation and left me feeling stressed and regretful. The lack of transparency, delayed access to membership details, and pressure-based sales tactics were concerning.

I am now attempting to resolve the cancellation and obtain a full refund as stated in the contract.

This place. has completely gone DOWNHILL! I was here back in 2019, and it was actually lovely. Now the rooms barely have AC, everything is constantly broken, safe, TV, tv remotes etc. My first day there, they gave me ZERO washclothes and I had to ask the Maid service on two separate occasions to bring me some. The ONLY nice thing I can say about this resort is the pool entertainment, they are AWESOME and kept our minds off of how beaten down this place was!

First impression is everything and the hotel looks better in person than in pictures, but the checking lack of information. The person who checked us in didn't provided any information of the hotel, he referred us to another person who told us that we were obligated to sit on a 90 minutes time share talk which we didn't agreed on point. Then while we were waiting for a room, we went to the beach and sit on an available chair and this guy came out of nowhere telling me that the area was for club members and I needed to get up. I told the guy to give me a few minutes until my wife and daughter came back and they guy told me; you got 5 minutes to move or we are going to charge you $55. I talked to two people about the situation and nothing was done. The food was not that great for Mexico which was weird. The only good thing was the waiters were nice and friendly. Wifi is included but 'general visitor' for the whole place and terrible requiring sign ins over 10 times per day.
Food was good, restaurants mediocre with minimal choices and same salad bar. Formal night means nothing, allowing flips, shorts and Ts. Disappointment
Bars were few with long lineups, the hand washing of the plastic drink cups was ever concerning. Drinks were good though and those poor bartenders tried their best.
'No reserving chairs with towels'!!! All chairs claimed by 6:30am with no enforcing, some left the full day with no occupant but reserved. Forced us to do the same, get out of bed on vacation by 6 or we would have no chairs for 8 people.
Beach was nice 'VIP' area was mostly empty. Resort is too far to walk to anything other than a walk.
Entertainment staff were great and hard working, as were the wait staff (buffet only, not restaurants) and the golf cart drivers were awesome.
Overall nice trip except 2 of our group left sicker than dogs.
Thank you blue bay, abd for considering is VIP with some extra perks because we booked with Expedia, checking with the reat of our group who booked a westjet vacation or just booked through the resort, we seemed to have paid for that perk.

Bar offered typical mexican drinks. Nothing special. Beer was light. We could have purchased a premium drink pkg. But didnt feel premium was premium enough. Overall our stay was pleasant. Staff were friendly, property was clean. I will say if you are staying at this resort, choose building #2 as the property is huge. Building #2 is renovated and close to the pool, ocean etc. We were very satisfied to have upgraded to building #2 into a suite. Made our stsy that much better. I would not recommend building #8. It had a very terribble smell and reports of mold in most rooms.
Food was good, but typical for a mexican buffet. It offers the same menu daily. Suggestion is to eat esrly while its still fresh.
Loungers is a huge issue......100 loungers for thousands of guests. Makes no sense. And people become very possessive o er loungers. We stayed for a week and only enjoyed a lounger late in a day only once. So be prepared or up VERY early to snag one.

When I first arrived I was given the wrong room then they gave me another room to wait for my room and they said they were going call me in1 hour which they never did so 2 hours after I called the lobby where No one answered.
The next day I Paid EXTRA to upgrade my room and I was sent to the 5th floor where the elevator was off service my intire stayed plus there was no water in the shower.
Two times the cleaning people opened my room while I was sleeping one of them telling me that he was doing linen inventory the other one to ask for the time that I was leaving.
Some off the restaurant employees were racist.

The whole property needs to be updated especially the rooms .”the better rooms are by the ocean view or partial view “ also better because your closer to the bigger pool and the buffet /lunch restaurant. Also needs more food options. Did not like the reusable cups I feel like they weren’t clean right . I did like the swing bar . The bar attendants were nice especially pascual and Enrique.also if you want to get your steps in this is the place for you or you could wait for the trolley !every thing at the resort is a walking distance .

A lot of complaints from other guests about building 6 7 and 8 about mould and mildew in their rooms. When they asked to be switched to different rooms they were charged between $700 to $900. The food at the buffets were subpar, Beach was terrible, booze seemed watered down. I would not recommend staying here. Had much better experiences in Cuba of all places. This resort is rated as a 5 star. 2 star is what I would give. The only positive mention for this resort is the amazing staff!

This property was suggested to me by my friend, the we booked it last minute. It is old, the lobby needs care. The biggest issue is the ack of shaded areas in the pool or beach areas. It was panic level disappointment. Ppl knew & they designated someone to wake up early to reserve spots. We did not do that, we were their to rest, but that was such a disappointment. What was the point of the trip if we could not be on the water & under shaded area? Personally,I had no sip of alcohol, my diet is restricted. I tipped generously because I appreciate the frontline workers & love Mexican ppl. The frontline people made the experience all worth while, but was not impressed with the resort. Also the pillows were not pillows but accent cushions, low quality & painful to sleep on. For 7 days we could not find a shaded place on the pool, let alot the beach because it was not accessible from the seaweed. The resort has good landscaping and it was safe. We felt safe and welcomed, but the management has to seriously look after the lack of shaded spaces the pillows need to be replaced.

Also what was this lobby about? It has to be more accommodating with some areas to allow people to recharge their phones and rest up and relax while checking in or out. Also the lobby has to have a coffee area. They have to take into account that not everyone is in Mexico for alcohol. Mexican people are hard working, kind, generous, and my feedback is in efforts to help the resort to be better place. Thx

This was the worst all-inclusive resort we have ever stayed at.

We booked two rooms (1019 and 1026) while traveling as a family. Both rooms had visible mold and moisture issues. Room 1026 (garden view) had a very strong mold and humidity smell, and the bathrooms had black mold around the tiles and tub.

The smell was so bad that when we returned home we had to wash all of our clothes — even the ones we never wore — because everything smelled like mold.

We complained immediately, but it took days to hear back, and only two days before our 10-day vacation ended did they say they might have another room, but could not guarantee both rooms together, even though we clearly requested that when booking.

An Expedia agent told us this resort was 4.5 stars, which is not even close. Based on our experience, I wouldn’t give it even 2 stars.

Food options were very limited. No natural juices (all from concentrate), very poor white wine, only one kind of beer. The only decent restaurant was the Italian restaurant.

The snack bar food sat in the heat too long, and both my wife and I got sick.

The resort feels old and poorly maintained. We have many photos showing the condition.

Do not recommend. Stay away if you don’t want to ruin your vacation.

I would not return. We were in a room that smelled and had mold on the walls/curtains. The sink didn’t drain correctly. We were able to move to a different building, which was better but the shower didn’t drain correctly and the room smelled like paint. Everything is extremely outdated.

The staff was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly, and the concierge was amazingly helpful.

The hotel is dated so you get what you pay for. The only reason we stayed at BlueBay was for a friend’s wedding or I would not have chose this resort.
Food is average but not great. The only good thing about the resort was the staff.
We booked two rooms because we had our kids with us. The rooms are dated and could use a refresher.
The kids room was moist and humid the whole time. They’d go to bed in damp sheets. One night their sink fell out onto the floor, thankfully no one was hurt.
Mine and my husbands room wasn’t as humid as the kids room. Our toilet constantly ran which was annoying to try to sleep, even with the door closed. One night we came back and our whole room was flooded. The maid had flushed our garbage down the toilet and it got plugged.
The main pool is pretty big but the lack of loungers was a bit disappointing. You had to get to the pool by 7am with your towel to secure your lounger. If not you’re out of luck. Beach is nice but not very big. Some loungers there but again you have to get there early to secure your spot. There’s definitely spaces they could have put out more loungers.
Like is said the staff were great! So friendly! They’re the only thing I thought was good about the resort.
I don’t think I’d stay here again.

The staff was amazing, our room was lovely, and the resort was very clean!

But overall the resort is showing need of repair and neglect. We did hear it was just bought by the Marriot so maybe it will get better.

There was no shade around the pool and it was impossible to get shade on the beach. I was happy to see the staff removing towels off the chairs around the pool. Stop saving a chair if you aren’t going to be there all morning people!!!

I wish there were table and chairs to hang around and play games by the pool or by the bars.

The bar line ups were huge! Not enough bars or bartenders or staff offering drinks around the pool for sure.

The food was mediocre and selection was poor, how is it even possible guacamole wasn’t available everyday at the buffet? We are in Mexico!

In the end I believe we got what we paid for as we got a great deal… we still had a wonderful week away and enjoyed the sunshine and warmth.

I booked 2 rooms ocean view from Expedia, when I checked in they gave a very partial ocean view far away, you have to go out in your balcony and turn left then you see the ocean, I complained about it, then they asked us to come to the reception again, finally they gave us a room and we checked in the room at 6 pm, the bathroom sinks were clogged and shower automatically turns on and off with very mild warm water, we didn’t wanted to deal with them so we let it go. Room no 5413 I have pictures and videos too, not many vegetarian options and basic entertainment!

The room was covered in mold, on the mattress, painting, light shades, curtains, and walls. We complained, and they openly said that all the rooms are like that. I’ve been to several humid all inclusive spots, none of which had mold. The waits for drinks were insane, over 20 minutes at some times. Even with reservations, we still had to wait 20+ minutes to get into our restaurant. The pool was fantastic, very clean. And the activities were well put together, but that was the only good part.

Overall, we had a great stay at this all-inclusive resort.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful — every time we had a question or a small issue, it was resolved quickly and with a smile.

The food was good overall. Some dishes were a bit different from what we’re used to, but the variety was solid. The à la carte restaurants were a highlight, especially the Italian one — great selection and quality. We honestly wish we had booked it more than once.

The resort itself is very lively. At times it felt quite crowded, especially around the pool. Unfortunately, some guests leave towels early in the morning to “reserve” loungers despite the rules, which we didn’t love — but that’s more of a guest behavior issue, not the hotel’s fault.

The pool water was a bit cold, and the sea wasn’t very clean during our stay, but again, this isn’t something the hotel can control.

We stayed on the resort for the full 7 days without even leaving the property — there was enough to do. Some of the shows were really enjoyable, others were just okay. The bar was good, drinks were decent, and overall the atmosphere was relaxed and fun.

In general, a very positive experience. We felt comfortable, well taken care of, and truly relaxed.

The Staff at Blue Bay were excellent and polite, other than the greeter that was too pushy on signing us up for timeshare even though I told him I did not want to go, he did any way. In our room the AC was not working, was very noisy, hard to sleep. The shower drain was plugged, the bathroom faucet was very difficult to operate and the room was generally worn. I spoke to the concierge and maintenance repair the drain and the faucet and told us that they did the AC, but it was still not working after they told us it was repaired. The food was good, but not great. The lineups to get into the buffet we’re trying. Our booked seafood restaurant dinner was pillaged by raccoons that the staff had to constantly fight off.
Overall, the whole resort needed a lot of maintenance and appeared to be disheveled. For example, All the thatched roofs were visually worn and had holes in them and leaked. The entertainment was fairly good, but considering we were there after Christmas and for New Year’s, I wonder how the entertainment would be at a different time of year? I will not be booking another trip at Blue Bay.

Problem upon check-in. Person doing the check in gave us a room which was reserved for a different person. Very lucky person which the room was meant to did not arrive that night. We had to have it sorted out the following day which took quite some time.
Requested a room which king bed instead of the twin beds in our room, 2 days later we were told to bring our luggage’s to the bell boy and they let us know later in the day which room we will receive, so we declined and decided to stay in the room we were given originally. Rooms are extremely dated and old. Entire resort needs a massive update

The staff was very hospitable. The public facilities were neglected as well as the rooms. The restrooms near the pool weren't working. The sliding glass door from the balcony was missing a handle to come in. The handle for the shower faucet fell off. They came and fixed it quickly. We had to ask for hand towels a few times because they didn't leave us any after they cleaned the room. They brought them quickly.

facility was not well maintained, upgraded room spa was noted working, roof needed repair. outdoor animals and cats roaming inside dinning area. limited food choses. roof leaking in multiple areas, with standing water and limited mosquito control. all family members experienced multiple bites. did not enjoy stay at this facility

Clean room, great staff, beautiful gardens! Pool and beach area was nice and clean and plenty of room! Lots of pool and beach activities available. Property is big but everything easily accessible and resort offers a grounds shuttle service which is fabulous for guests with mobility issues!!

Resort is old and dated. It is clean though. There are not enough beach chairs. You need to be up before 7am if you'd like to reserve a chair.

When we arrived at the resort and checked in at the lobby, the staff gave us zero explanation on how anything works, they didn’t give us room keys or tell us what our room number even was. We had to ask for that info. We requested a king size bed with an ocean view with our reservation. Upon arrival, our bed had two beds that were just larger than twins, not even doubles. The toilet was broken, the faucets in the bathroom were broken, the mirrors were covered with a black film. The closet doors were broken and hanging off. When we spoke to the front desk they said they had no other king rooms until one of the guests in our party who is ‘circle one’ (vip) complained about our room, and then all of a sudden they had two rooms with king beds that we could view and chose from. The buffets were mediocre at best. The a la carte restaurants were inconsistent. Concierge would only allow you to book into the a la Carte’s one day in advance, and most of the time there was no reservations left. The hotel handed out towel cards that you had to hand over to get towels for the pool, if you lost your towels, you didn’t get your towel cards back and were charged $60 USD to get new towel cards. However, staff would often walk around the pool and collect towels so that guests would have to pay for new towel cards. There were cotes and raccoons running all over the resort, including inside the restaurants and up on tables! I would not recommend this resort to anyone!!

Super underrated, we booked this trip before looking at the reviews...so we didn't really have an option but just to thug it out and see how it goes. Bam, best trip ever. Food was great, staff beyond nice and soo much to do. Beach was as clear as day and much bluer than the beaches beside our resort.

Staff was friendly and available. Know your Spanish. Very limited beach chairs, a la carte too much AC couldn’t stay to eat. Allergies beware at Buffet’s (fish/shelfish) food mixed. Partial ocean view guaranteed given full jungle (closer to most amenities no complaints).Never been happier with how available our room was cleaned (early or late) and fridge was stocked every day. If you like big resorts you’ll enjoy + if you have no food allergies

To start we have stayed at the Grand Pricess last year and the Riu the year before so i a reference of how resort shoud be and what to expect.
I was very disappointed with my experience with my family of 4 . We had no hot water for our entire stay luke warm no water flow to be told by managers that how it is or we are working on it what joke.
My son and daughter got there rooms switch 3 time because we founded bed bug we took a picture and saved the bug to show the management they did not believe us till we showed them. I got switched twice cause the water issue which was not resolved
The food at best was poor and very limited selection ,also if you are vegetarian plan on eating boiled vegetables cause that would be about it.
There Circle One VIP program is a con job stay far far away bait and switch. Over promise and under delivery disappointed my brother in-law realize and losted
$1000.00 US to cancel cause of some fine print .Program is like a time share trickery. Entertainment was a karaoke machine that' it in a run down lounge with the only 3 bars and one is the VIP Circle One bar which closes early. You want to sit on a lounger forget it at best they had about 75 and half for the Circle One members witch also applies to the beach huts and beach itself. Restaurants and one main place and it was small and plumbing in those places where awfully three times the women' bathroom was backed up, the specialty restaurant the managers decide which ones are open or closed

We were booked for a 10 day stay to attend a wedding. On arrival, there was water flooded on the floor of our room as we opened the door. It dripping from the ceiling in the bathroom and from down the wall behind our bathroom mirror. It had run out into our main living area. We told the front desk and they came to look at it and put towels on the floor and the waste paper basket in the middle of the bathroom to catch the dripping water!!?? This continued throughout our stay with 2-3 workers coming to look at the damage and proceed to do nothing. Towards the end of our stay on night 8, the actual ceiling “paper” was falling off and onto the floor of our bathroom and water continued to flow from behind our mirror, over the bathroom counter and onto the floor. With 1 day & night remaining on our 10 day stay, they offered to move us to a different room but at that point, it was more of a hassle collecting and moving all of our clothing etc. It would have been nice to be offered a new room on the 1st evening of our complaint before we unpacked. The servers at the resort were hard workers but the resort on a whole needs major renovations all over. I’m sure it may have been beautiful 20 years ago but it is very lacking and NO WAY a 4 star resort. 1-2 star max. Food was bland and the selection quite poor. To top of all off, of the 40 or so people attending the resort for the wedding we were all attending, 3-4 got sick from the food during their stay. Not a great ratio.

Golf carts for transportation seems few and far between
Freezing cold in the Al a carte Italian restaurant, resulted in cold food

The staff was wonderful throughout the property! Pool was kept extremely clean. Food was very good. However, the rooms and buildings are in need of renovations and there was no hot water on the property = only cold showers. :(

The food is terrible, water damage in many room's, housekeeping starts their daily rounds at 0830 waking you every morning so good luck sleeping in on vacation, bar lines take up to 45 minutes to get a drink. Overall, not a great experience. Would not recommend.

It all was wonderful. However we did have some septic problems and if you want to get a chair at the beach you better get there at 8. I had both of my credit cards gotten the one day i left the resort. Therefore no credit cards to get home and no one likes to take cash.

Love the staff! Very very helpful. Food was actually pretty good! Other resorts i have been to were not good, so well done! Very clean rooms. Only thing that bothered me was the cold showers, but thats expected in Mexico. I am a Canadian and am a fussy person 😆 seriously though it was cold but it did not make my experience bad, it was a wonderful holiday. We love Blue Bay Esmeralda! Thank you to all staff!!
