Rooms were modern and clean. Breakfast is pretty good if it comes as part of the room. Location is brilliant as it is close to both Gare du Nord and Gare du l'Est so you have plenty of public transport options and some good value restaurants nearby.

Very disappointing service. When we arrived at the hotel, we understood that early check-in was not possible and politely asked to store our luggage. The receptionist simply pointed to his left and said “2nd floor”.

We took the lift to the 2nd floor but could not find the luggage room. When we came back down, the receptionist knew we were confused but remained silent and did not offer any help. Eventually, we found the luggage room by ourselves. It was actually right next to the reception. Throughout this, the staff showed a very sour expression and was not helpful at all.

In addition, the room was very small. Overall, poor service and an unpleasant first impression. We will not come back again.

We had a smaller room on the 4th level but it was a very clean room and bathroom (good size). Possibility to make coffee or tea at the room.
However a coat rack on the wall would be very useful, because there is not many place in the small wardrobe.
Good breakfast in a nice sitting room.
Kind staff.
Good location 8 minutes walk from gare du nord.

Great value for money. Close to train station but really quiet. Would have liked the bottles of water to be replenished each day, and the toiletries replenished also. First day breakfast was great, 2nd day disappointing as all tables had dirty dishes, had to ask to clean and for fresh plates and cutlery also not a lot of food as it was not replaced once finished. Needed 2 people to be working. Overall a value for money hotel

I cannot say enough positive thing about my stay! The place was clean and tidy. Rooms were a little small, but we knew that going in and needed a place to sleep and shower as we had a busy schedule - this was the perfect place! We were close to a main train hub which was wonderful for getting around fast. Closer you walk to the train the more homeless and beggars you will encounter but the hotel area was safe. Make sure to discuss the AC with the front desk as we had to request they check if it was on - once they double checked it was working perfectly. We had a wonderful stay and thanks to staff!

5-night Paris stay

Location was excellent for train, metro & bus. Breakfast was very good, nice variety of items. Bathroom was modern with space for toiletries & shower had very good water pressure, but no hooks or towel racks anywhere in room or bathroom. No tissues or washcloths were provided, so bring your own. No chair in room, just a hassock. No place to put clothes away, so had to live out of suitcases for 5-night stay. There was a small area to hang clothes. No table or convenient shelving or drawers. 2 very small bedside tables Luckily, we had booked a triple room, so had a fold out bed that we used for our 2 large suitcases as they had no luggage racks, otherwise bags would have been on the floor. TV kept freezing up & disconnecting the first day-which we immediately reported & staff called the cable company. It was better the next day. First night, fire alarm went off twice, around 3am, a false alarm, but not a pleasant way to start out our stay. Staff said they would contact the alarm company about this; it did not happen again. Staff was helpful, especially breakfast staff. Some front desk staff spoke English.

Horrible sofa bed and false alarm at 4:00am twice

Nice staff especially the lady working in breakfast lounge. She is very friendly, polite, working hard, considerate and cheerful. Some free cakes and pastries served which is very nice. But the sofa bed is horrible, not stable enough. When I sit on it, I nearly fall down. Moreover, It made lots of noise when turning body. The most important is we experienced twice false alert at 4:00am. Everyone woke up and go down to the reception. It is very horrible. I knew that it is not the first time. I think the owner needs to do something on it. The owner should refund part of the room fee for compensation.

Perfect hub for rail travellers

The hotel appears to have been recently renovated and was very pleasant to stay in; I would only caution that for very light sleepers there is an occasional distant rumble that I assume is from a subway or train line. But one of the major benefits is that it is walking distance from two major train stations (Gare de l' est is 6mins walk and Gare du Nord is 12 mins), so you can probably reasonably expect this in a city centre. We stayed overnight to rest between connecting trains, and it was perfect for us.

Friendly check in, served a decent buffet style breakfast and had a happy vibe around the place.
The single room was small and without anywhere to store clothing or valuables but as I was only there for a couple of days, it wasn’t a problem. The bathroom was modern and felt typical of a more expensive hotel. Marche St Quentin for food adventures is opposite the hotel and there is a street entrance for Gare de L’Est metro just a couple of minutes around the corner, so a great location. I have stayed at many different places close by, both as a single traveler and a couple, and think I would likely return here as it was very good value for money.

Nice little hotel close to the train station Gare de l'Est in Paris.
Rooms are small but okay for a city trip, bathroom is nice.
The elevator stops between the floors, so you always have to walk a few stairs, which makes it not suitable for handicapped people.

We recommend not to book the breakfast cause it is just a small choice and kind of boring. The scrambled eggs are a convenience product and are very dry, the old baguette from the day before gets reheated again.
Go to a bakery (boulangerie) round the corner to get a nice breakfast, the one in the hotel disappointed us.

Overall we would book the hotel again for a trip to Paris.

Quaint small hotel in great location. Easy to get to the metro, lots of restaurants nearby. Very easy to get around. We found a laundry a few doors down but did not need it. Room was quiet and spacious enough. The staff was all very friendly and they all spoke English. We did not purchase the breakfast. It looked good, but there are also lots of other options nearby.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our first time in Paris. We had a very good experience staying at this hotel. Location, location, location! I love the convenient location and it’s walkable to Gare du Nord station for Eurostar travellers and Gare de l’Est metro station to get around Paris! There are many dining options close by. Our room is a good size and its so adorably decorated too! It’s very clean with modern amenities and a space to hang our clothes (just bring your own hangers lol!). I also appreciate the A/C working really well! Breakfast was really good too! I love the baked goods, boiled/scrambled eggs and sausages available. Check in and check out went very smoothly. Staff were very nice, friendly and spoke good English. Hotel has a free luggage storage but it’s not locked nor has staff to watch over it. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel, especially for Eurostar travellers.

Not amazing, but perfectly adequate

This hotel is super convenient for both Gare du Nore and Gare de L'Est - which was great for our trip. In terms of the hotel itself, it's neither luxurious nor sub-standard. However, when they tried to check my family and I into the room they'd first allocated, we found that the bathroom light didn't work (and couldn't be immediately fixed), so we were moved to a room which wasn't quite as nice (but still perfectly adequate for what we needed). The hotel staff are friendly and the continental breakfast has sufficient choice for most travellers' needs. All in all, a good hotel at good value in a convenient part of the city.

We are told to turn left. Don’t turn right. It’s dangerous. We were so far out from everything, that by the time we paid for a taxi, we could have upgraded locations. A/C didn’t work well. One room had to keep window open. Street below was very loud into the night. Had to ring a bell to get in the hotel, it’s that sketchy outside. Had to pay for airport shuttle in cash, then hotel didn’t pay driver. Driver had us wait in the parking lot and call hotel before we could take our flight. Tiny tiny rooms. Hard to walk around. No where to really put two suitcases. I could go on and on.

the staff are very professional, multilingual & helpful. the building itself is older altho well-maintained. the elevator is small & functional & the spiral staircase is a bit steep, so could be tricky. the breakfast buffet is very good & the neighborhood has many nearby restaurants, also a coin-op laundromat a block away. the taxi-drivers cautioned against being out late at night in that part of Paris. the hotel is a short walk from 2 train stations.

My issue with the hotel is to cut corners. For example, they don’t provide tissues. One of my folding bed is in bad shape. The breakfast is barely adequate. The shower drain is barely working, etc.

I booked my room at Expedia and I have emergency can not fly to Paris. I had to contact the hotel through Expedia in the first instance in the hope that I could cancel the room and get a refund. Unfortunately, the hotel said it was okay to cancel the room, but the policy states no refunds. I will never choose that hotel again when I visit Paris in the future.

I can’t say enough good things about Lucien & Marinette. The location is less than 5 minutes away from the metro. Easy access to everything! Our room is very cute and clean. We had everything we needed. Best of all was the manager Pierre who helped us out immensely when we had to cut our trip short due to an emergency. Fantastic customer service! I am so grateful to Pierre and we will definitely come back to Lucien & Marinette for future Paris trips!

Stayed for one night for the Rugby World Cup Final so wanted to be close to Gare du Nord. Whilst the surrounding area is not great, the hotel is absolutely perfect. Very friendly reception staff, and the rooms are newly refurbished and in very decent condition. Also comfortable bed/pillows. Would definitely recommend for a short trip.

The restaurant at the end of the street P‘tite Bougnate became our regular breakfast place and we also enjoyed a great dinner there on our arrival night. There is also a bakery right next door for a quick croissant and espresso if you’re on the go.
Super convenient hotel in terms of metro location and also for those who like to walk. We found it perfect.

The best holiday experience with our baby

The hotel was absolutely amazing and catered so well. My partner and I with our 5 month old baby and we couldn’t have asked for a better first baby holiday abroad. We had a family room that had a kettle and a fridge and this helped massively for making bottles and provided a travel cot that our baby slept so deeply in (slept through a fire alarm just one night). The hotel were great, they provided us with a bucket to help sterilise bottles, gave us cot sheets and were just so friendly and always honoured our requests with such a positive manor. My partner often tries to speak in French and the entertained a French conversation and spent time helping him improve it. The hotel is very clean and smells lovely, the hotel reception is safe and you need to press a bell to gain access to the reception so no one can randomly walk through. The location was a 6 minute walk from the metro station and had lots of places to eat around. We will be returning back to this hotel and I couldn’t thank a hotel enough for making this holiday as stress free as it could be with a baby and I cannot stress enough how amazing this hotel was, service and how friendly the staff were.

This hotel could have been called a gem in an area which is not. Small place, well conceived, original. Unfortunately it is poorly maintained, my room has been maybe vacuumed once… The elevator had things on the floor which have been half removed days later, after I complained to the desk about how not clean this place was. Next to the elevator, a corner were it shows crumbs and dust and traces of cups and glasses. Inside the elevator the walls are dirty. The good news is the breakfast area, with a pleasant person in charge, is well maintain with a good and generous buffet.
The sink in my bathroom was clogged and I mentioned it to the most impolite man I could meet. His answer was
“let me know if it
goes overboard” and raising his voice. He thought he could be disrespectful because been an older woman with no husband at my side. The other staff were all pleasant and helpful.
This hotel is nice but there is no supervision. A few more years, and it will be a place going down the hill. Hopefully not, I wish this hotel the best

Convenient and Comfortable Train Station Location

We booked Hotel Lucien & Marinette in a triple room for one night in order to make easy train transfers the next morning. The room was very clean and cute. There is a safe and small refrigerator in the room, along with a water boiler and mugs for tea or coffee. There is a market across the street if one needs to purchase food, and a bakery down the street. The neighborhood has a lot of people walking around with suitcases arriving/departing the train station.

Newly refurbished, great service, would return

The service was excellent, with the receptionist immediately taking action when the air-conditioning wasn't working at it's best. The hotel is newly refurbished, clean and the staff helpful. I usually don't consider the \"Gare du Nord\" area to stay, but would definitely consider Lucien & Marinette again.

Nice hotel with some quirks

The hotel is very cute, with unique designs. The space is good, beds are comfortable. No kleenex in the rooms, which isn't a major problem but possibly the first time I've encountered that in a hotel. And while our room was great, there was a very distinct slope from one side of the room to the other, and the carpeting in the hotel has a very busy pattern - combined to make me more than a little motion-sick the entire time. Someone else in our group in a different room & building said they felt like they were on a cruise ship. Not sure what causes that for all of us.
Location is great for proximity to 2 train stations, easy access to metro & busses, but it is quite a ways from any of the typical tourist areas. One last note - didn't impact us fortunately, but doesn't seem that the hotel would be handicap-accessible for anyone who can't do steps. They are everywhere, from the entry to the exits of the elevators (which stops between floors).

We had a very warm reception. The room was as described and a big bigger than expected.
Only complaint no tea and the luggage storage was to full to put our suitcases in. Also it’s not secure so anyone can take your bags.
Great air conditioning ! And easy access to tube and train station
