For the price and the location, this hotel really can't be beat. It's situated on a busy street in the vibrant neighborhood of Malasaña next to lots of cool vintage shops and restaurants. My room was very small but clean and had plenty of amenities. The front desk people were very nice and went out of their way to greet me. I would definitely recommend learning some Spanish prior to your trip to Madrid though. It was a great place to practice speaking for me.

I took a star off because of two things I think were mentioned in other reviews. There is a noisy techno club below the hotel that plays music until about 5-6am during the week. I slept through most of it but I hadn't really adjusted to the time difference so I woke up a few times. I also had a weird issue with the electricity in my room the night before the race I was running the next day. The power went out and this giant flood light in my room came on at 4am which woke me up and it didn't go back off until about 6am. I did reach out to the night staff but they couldn't do anything until the receptionist came in at 8.

Issues aside, I would still stay here again but I might opt for one of the larger rooms next time.

Quaint and cosy hostel in a hip neighbourhood

It was a very pleasant stay. Communication was good and staff were friendly and extremely helpful. Room was kept clean to a high standard. The only reason I didn't give it full marks is the heating wasn't working very well so the room felt a bit chilly in the evening. Maybe provide a duvet in the winter. Otherwise, it is an excellent place to stay to explore Madrid. Very central to all the major attractions and close to the metro station as well. Malasaña is a fantastic neighborhood replete with bars and restaurants with a very hip and laid-back vibe. I will definitely stay at this hostel again when I return to Madrid.

First of all I booked a room with two beds and there was only 1 bed. Then they said they would refund me, and cancel then they refused to refund me, when I kept the room there was no water, no way to flush toilet shower or wash hands. They were aware of this issue before I checked in. I will report them to local authorities.

I guess you get what you pay for here. It's a hostel, so the situation was not exactly unexpected. But it was still a bit disappointing - the room is suffocatingly small, and it is very difficult to sleep when you can hear people walking about outside.

I stayed for 5 nights in Sep 2019.

Pros:
The neighbourhood (Malasana) is very central and lively. The hotel is a short walk from Tribunal metro station. The hotel is very simple - there are 20 rooms, one floor up from ground level. Service and cleanliness were also OK. The shower design was nice in that the shower head is mounted directly overhead. Having a kettle to boil water in the room was a nice touch, as were the safe and fridge.

Cons:
The A/C unit in the room made drippy water noises.
The sink in the washroom was a bit too shallow, making it easy for water to splash onto the counter.
It would have been nice to have a bit more counter space around the sink.
The bed is a bit on the stiff side.
The neighbourhood, while lively, may be a bit too noisy for some - there are people out on the streets until well after midnight, which may be a problem if you like to sleep early.

Hotel Malasana CC is a hidden gem. It is not the usual hostel or hostal that you will see being obvious from a street level. But nevertheless, the quality is just as good as a room hotel except that the size is much smaller. If your aim is quite straightforward - to have a bed to sleep the night away, and to have your own nice private bathroom, then this is the perfect place to stay. The Hostal is manned 24/7 by a reception staff who can open the door for you. It's a no frills, but very modern accomodation that is very clean, well-maintained and in a very central location.

Good value for the price. Great location

Down comforters and blackout curtains included in description but not found in the room. Especially important for curtains. Wispy paper strips taped over window did little to block out bright lights that kept turning on and off all night. Otherwise this place was great for the price. Shower was hot and strong, it was easy to come and go, staff was friendly, bed was comfortable and the in room safe was a nice addition.

A nice, small establishment. Very close to the city centre, with very reasonable prices. The rooms are mostly very small and lacking most unnecessary comforts (e.g. minibar, bath tube, closet). There is no room service or daily cleaning, but for its price, it is highly recommended.

Good basic choice. Clean (and stylish) Room

Do not be put off by first impressions; there is no reception - this is basically the second floor of an old apartment block which has been converted into hotel bedrooms. My room and bathroom were basic (but quite stylish) - perfect if all you want is a base for visiting Madrid and just need a room to sleep and clean up. There are plenty of great cafes nearby for breakfast.

The hotel has just opened and advertised it had air con. Upon checking in, i was told it wasnt working as the hotel was new. There was also no waste bins in the rooms. I understand these are growing pains but at least for the AC- you should let guests know.

Perfect budget hotel in a great location

I stayed in the economy room and could not fault it for the price. It was on the small side but was beautiful and modern and clean with an en-suite bathroom with a much nicer shower than I have at home! It even had a hair drier, a safe and a digital TV. The wifi works brilliantly too. The staff are super-friendly and very helpful and are there 24 hours. It is on the doorstep of plenty of bars, restaurants and supermarkets without being in the central tourist zone. The only thing I would say is that it is a little difficult to find as there isn't really a sign outside, only the name next to the telecom on the door. All in all, I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to save money without sacrificing quality :)

Very nice hostel, which doesn't look like one. Fresh and Newley refurbished rooms. The towels were provided and room briefly cleaned by stuff every day.
Also, an amazing location in trendy Malasana with a lot of quirky coffee houses and restaurants. 15min walk from gran via and 5min from the metro station.

What a lovely room! I am glad I booked the superior double with refrigerator. As a solo traveller I could have booked a cheaper room but I saw photos online of the smaller single rooms with very small window high up on the wall, the superior had full length double doors opening on to a tiny balcony (it was actually too hot to sit outside but it was good to see what was going on in the street below). My room was missing one bedside table and had a couple of re-painted areas which could have been done better but I loved the design of the room and the bed was very comfortable, and great to have a fridge in the room too. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay again. Malasaña is great for small cafés, more my type of food like falafel and hummus. Easy walk to two metro stations so plenty of options for getting around, also an easy walk to Gran Via and Puerto del Sol.

Clean & spacious room, awful WIFI, good location

This hostel is actually a hotel. The rooms are very spacious and clean, but WIFI is difficult to use in room (although the staff offered us to but to router in our room, which solved the issue for one night). Well located and with easy access to the Tribunal Metro (which connects you directly to the train station and other stations near main attractions). The neighbourhood can get noisy during the weekend. Beware.

El acceso al edificio el sábado 13 no funcionaba, me puse en contacto con los responsables y nos dejaron más de 40 minutos en la calle. Al entrar en la habitación, no funcionaban la luz y las luces de emergencia se apagaron al cabo de un rato. Sigo sin tener respuesta a los mensajes enviados y alguna explicación de lo sucedido. Por lo demás todo bien, habitación limpia, ubicación buena e instalaciones en buen estado.

El hotel es adecuado para estancias cortas.
Me pasó de encontrar una pequeña cucaracha muerta en el piso de la habitación, pero nada mas que eso.
Si bien la habitación es chica, para una sola persona, el tamaño es correcto.
La ubicación es excelente, transporte cerca, compras y gastronomía a un paso.
No tienen el cartel de no molestar/limpiar habitación, por lo tanto las mucamas van golpeado las puertas consultando si se desea se limpie la habitación, lo cual puede ser molesto si uno esta descansando por ejemplo.

Céntrico y con habitaciones agradables

El hotel está muy céntrico, en el corazón de Malasaña, cerca de tiendas, restaurantes, bares...etc.
Respecto de la habitación, se notaba que estaba restaurada hace poco (al igual que el resto del hotel), era muy silenciosa (pese a ser interior, daba a un patio).
La cama era cómoda, el baño estaba reformado y estaba todo muy limpio. Además, disponía de aire acondicionado y de una pequeña zona para dejar las maletas con un par de escritorios, que lo cierto es que desahogaba bastante la habitación, creando así otro ambiente en la habitación, lo cierto es que nos sorprendió bastante. Tanto los pasillos como el ascensor, muy nuevos y silenciosos. En general era bastante confortable.

En lo relativo al servicio de comidas/desayunos, no puedo opinar puesto que no hicimos uso de tal servicio.

Nosotros fuimos en coche, y lo cierto es que es una calle de acceso algo complicado, y para aparcar tuvimos que ir a un Parking con el que el Hotel tiene convenido un precio de 19€ por día, que pese a estar a un par de minutos caminando del hotel, en coche se tardan prácticamente 20 minutos, lo cual resulta un poco engorroso, pero entendemos que no es culpa del hotel. Y lo cierto es que es una buena solución para aparcar en Madrid.

Por último, el personal de recepción fue agradable, pero notamos que estaban un poco perdidos o desubicados a la hora de facilitar información y realizar el check-in.De hecho, nos hicieron el check-in con una maquina y lo cierto es que fue bastante desastroso.

Al llegar subí al primer piso con la maleta pues varios carteles indican que el hostal se encuentra en el 1º piso pero allí sólo están las hab.debiendo bajar con ella en busca de la recepción que se encuentra en el bar. La habitación y baño limpios y nuevos aunque el colchón se hunde de un lado. Estuve dos noches alojada. Puse el cartel para que hicieran la habitación a las 9:00h y al regresar pasada la medida noche la habitación seguía como la dejé. Me informaron que por falta de tiempo sólo limpian las habitaciones que serán ocupadas por nuevos huéspedes (no me importo demasiado pues por un día no había casi más que hacer la cama. Pero el anunciado dice que se realiza la limpieza a diario. )
A la hora checkout no había nadie en el bar a las 11:40h). Vi cámaras pero no me parece muy seguro el sistema de entrada y salidas. La situación muy céntrica y cercana al metro.
Aún así volveré y espero estas pequeñas cosas las puedan resolver.
El personal que encontré muy amable.

Ótima localização, cama confortável.
Ficamos 6 noites no hotel e nas 3 primeiras noites os quartos estavam sem ar (obs: era verão de +30º) e 1 noite a água do chuveiro não esquentava.
Recomendo para aqueles que forem ficar por poucos dias ( mais pela localização).

nice small room to stay

A nice small hotel in old city. very convienient location -- 5 mins to Metro station, you find everything around and you can even just walk to the Gran Via / Madrid Palace /Cibeles, etc. The single room is small but you will not spend that much time in, so not a problem there. the price is approperate, room facilities are quite new. however the reception does not speak good english, and Bath room is very small. in total it is a good choice.

Good standard for being a hostel that central. Slightly difficult to find the place. The bathroom was tiny and the room's ventilation was rather poor, but it felt clean and the employees were helpful. Amazing location close to shoppuing, food and bars. Tijdens mijn verblijf in Madrid sliep ik in cc malasana. Het was in eerste instatie moeilijk te vinden omdat nergens op de gevel duidelijk word aan gegeven waar het is. Na een beetje rond kijken hebben wij het gelukkig gevonden. Bij binnekomst sprak de vrowu bij de receptie geen engels wat erg onhandig was in de communicatie. De kamer was net en schoon en alle voorzieningen zijn aanwezig.
