Great location. Close to many places to eat and close to metro and bus stop to get to sites to see. Staff very responsive. The room is great for 2 people but we had three and the couch when pulled out took up the whole room making it difficult to walk around and get to bathroom at night. Unit had a washer dryer but it was one unit. But did not dry at all, we had clothes in there for 4 hours. so be prepared to hang dry your clothes.

The property is old and pretty tight for 3 adults. Since we had to use the sofa bed, it basically took up all the space in the living room. The location is superb and easily accessible to many attractions by foot. Generally clean and a good value for our trip with a kitchen and even a washer.

It’s not a hotel but an apartment in an old style Spanish building that has been changed (at sometime) into self contained apartment.

Room certainly not as shown on website, Maintainace is non existent- bedroom door didn’t close due to way fitted and bathroom door could only be closed if slammed repeatedly (joiner needed to make adjustment so door fits frame).

The sofa bed is completely uncomfortable for adults and I guess kids also, mattress of such poor quality you could feel the metal frame underneath. Safe to say, little sleep obtained, glad I was only there one night.

Shower head bracket hanging off the wall and bathroom mirror chipped and had seen better days.
Also room maid was banging out door 30mins prior to us having to leave the room and was unpleasant when I brought this too her attention. Also rooms not the cleanest, found a previous guests toothbrush on the floor under bathroom sink !!

On the positive side, nice traditional Spanish neighbourhood with nice coffee shops and places to stop for something to eat. Dia shop 3 mins away for any snacks / drinks / fresh breakfast breads etc. Gran Via a pleasant 10 mins stroll away so very handy to that, also tram station approx 5 mins walk away with good links to airport.

The apartment was cozy and perfect for our family of three. It had enough utensils, and there was a grocery store nearby. The Noviciado metro station was just a 5-minute walk away.

Disappointing Stay – Noisy and Inconvenient

If you're looking for a restful night’s sleep, avoid this place. The property has no elevator, so I had to haul my heavy luggage up to the third floor. The staff lacked the hospitality to make guests feel welcome or valued.

The worst part? The noise. The property has zero noise insulation, making it impossible to sleep at night. Between the bar’s late-night deliveries, loud street cleaning at 2–3 AM, and constant chatter from the street, it felt like sleeping in the middle of a busy road.

If you’re planning to sleep during the day, you might be fine. But if you need a peaceful night's sleep, stay elsewhere.

We loved the location of the property. It was close to things we wanted to see and walk to. It felt safe. The apartment was very small. There wasn't a lot of room to open a suitcase unless you put it on the bed. We were utilizing the sofa bed and that left no floor space. Sadly, this property was very loud at night. There is no elevator, so you hear guests going up and down the stairs, talking, singing, banging, you name it. The hallway light is motion activated and turns on and off all night, as well. I cant tell you how many times I woke up from multiple interruptions. Still, the place had everything needed for a stay in Madrid.

The building is old and rundown as well as the appliances. My main issue however was with the cleaning products they used. A potent bleach whose stench wouldn’t let the room for hours even though I left the window and fan running. I could not stay a single night and had to find another place.

Place is relatively cheap but you get what you pay for and in my case, I ended up paying for the mistake of choosing this location.

This was our second time staying at the Gran Central. This time in a different building. The place accommodated our 5 person family well. There were plenty of sheets and towels which is often a problem when traveling as a large family. I love the central location of the apartment. A small side not there is no elevator in this building if that is a problem. Their other building did have an elevator. The A/C works great :) That is important in August!

Don’t expect too much & you won’t be disappointe

If you don’t plan on spending a lot of time at the apartment, this will work for you. The place is a bit run down and it’s not the cleanest. A bit noisy at night and the space is not big.
The AC worked amazing and let’s be honest, for this price, you can’t beat it. The WiFi worked, the hot water was there and most importantly you are very centrally located and walking distance to it all!
Would recommend if you are 2’people and not too picky about minor details like listed above. Front desk was great and informative!
It definitely did its job and it’s like this throughout Madrid!

Nice family stay

We had a nice 4-night stay at Gran Central Suites. The location of the hotel is great as it's very central and walking distance from many destinations. The neighborhood itself is also cool and has lots of great dining spots. However, it can get noisy during the nights and we had trouble sleeping sometimes. The room itself is fairly comfortable - it has everything you need but is no frills. Not fancy but good value for money (except for the noise)

Parking on the street was not easy however, I believe there is public parking available. Also, it would be nice to have a small elevator for the luggage.... otherwise you may have to carry 4 floors up!

We booked a 2 bedroom family suite. I chose this hotel because there were elevators in the photo. When we arrived they told us we were in an attic in an old building across the street and that there were no elevators. They told us we would have to carry all our luggage up to the 4th floor and when we asked for assistance they told us they don’t provide that service. They were also doing construction on the roof and there was a man just sitting on the stairs outside our apartment who wouldn’t move when we tried to bring our luggage up. The hall was also periodically blocked by a ladder in the middle. Shower extremely small.

The only downside was the washer/dryer. Despite multiple cycles (with a machine only about a third full), my clothes were not adaquately dry by the time I had to leave Madrid.

The location of this apartment could not have been better! Very central, lots of eateries and bars close by. The check-in process was great, they made it very easy for me to check in online/via whatsapp as I was to arrive at 2am. They sent over a lot of details and videos on accessing the building etc, it couldn't have been smoother. The apartment was also spotless and comfortable.
The only negative I would say is the apartment could use a bit of TLC - painting the walls etc. But otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely be back!!
