I booked this property expecting the standards of a 4‑star hotel, but unfortunately my stay fell far short of that expectation.
• Cleanliness & Maintenance: The bathroom was extremely small, and the white tub had pink edges that suggested mold and a lack of proper scrubbing. Curtains were gray and torn from repeated use, the hard floors showed stains and dirt that could have easily been cleaned, and the furniture was old and worn. Bath towels were thin and of poor quality.
• Comfort: The bed was serviceable but not the plush, comfortable standard one would anticipate from a 4‑star establishment.
• Noise: The most disruptive issue was noise. My room was located on the 5th floor near the stairway and elevators, and there was constant disturbance at all hours. Whether late at night (1–2 a.m.) or early in the morning, loud movements and banging made restful sleep nearly impossible.
• Service: While the staff were courteous, the hotel was clearly understaffed. Only two employees were handling check‑ins for a large number of guests, resulting in long waits.
Overall, this property did not meet the advertised 4‑star standard. The combination of poor maintenance, lack of comfort, and excessive noise made the stay feel closer to a 2‑star experience. I would not choose to stay here again.

We loved the location, it was great, right in the middle of the busy street, great night life, convenient to all. The room was new, clean and the beds and comforters were really nice and cozy. Got a king room with Gran via view hoping to get one with a terrace. (As it said some of the king rooms came with terraces.) And I did get a terrace. Room was enormous - more of a suite as it had a separate tiny room in between the bedroom and bathroom that contained a non-functioning eliptical trainer. I can't even describe the terrace well other than it was enormous and overlooked the Gran Via and had a table with a couple of chairs on it. It was a covered terrace so rain which we had the first day was not an issue. The sofa, chairs, table and carpet in the main room were dated and would benefit greatly to be updated. Bed was fine and seemed far newer. Anyway, for $138 USD a night can't be at the accomodations and location I got.

I love this hotel. This is the second time I stay here and this time was better than the last time. The location is perfect; in the middle of La Gran Via close to restaurants, bars, clothing stores and the metro station. The staff is really nice and friendly, they gave us recommendations of where to go eat and have a couple of drinks. I recommend to include the breakfast, it’s really good. Highly recommended.

Starting with the positives the hotel is in a good location with many restaurant and entertainment options. The property itself is very dated and in dire need of a facelift. In the back of the hotel where all the balconies face there is construction going on so it's extremely noisy from as early as 6:00 a.m. The hotel breakfast is okay but I kid you not when I say that during the 9 days of my stay the items on offer never changed once. It felt as though I was stuck in some time loop or a bad version of groundhog day. It also seems there may be some problem with their management system because for three consecutive days someone either knocked on the door or called on the phone to ask if I was checking out. Finally, during my stay I planned to use the little fitness center in the hotel. When I went to take a look I noticed a sign posted which stated that there was a €9 charge per person. There is no way anyone off the street would ever come in to use that tiny fitness center so I could only conclude that this was an additional surcharge for hotel guests. This probably explains why I never saw anyone use the facilities.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The staff was friendly and the checkin process was quick and easy! The breakfast buffet was great each morning. I had a Premium Room Gran Via Views. The patio had a nice view - was nice to sit on the terrace in the evening. However, the railing has glass that you can’t see through, so the view is blocked when you’re sitting down unfortunately. Would be better if the glass was fully transparent. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Overall a great stay!

We only stayed 1 out of 4 nights here because the AC went out, but I will say this. We were treated very well by the staff during our stay. We had to leave because the electricity went out on our second morning there. The hotel was SO quick to book us into another Melia Hotel (Melia Princesa) which is a 5 star hotel and paid for our taxi to get there. I have no doubt we would have had a lovely stay at this original hotel, though. One area of improvement could be more lighting in the room and bathrooms. The bathroom was a little small, but fine! The fastness of upgrading our stay to the new hotel was unmatched! We appreciate the staff at this hotel, and enjoyed our stay in Madrid!

But the staff was excellent in accommodating us for the remainder of our trip. Jonathan was especially helpful. The breakfast was one of the best of other hotels I have stayed at in Spain. But the hotel booking office was not open at daytime on a Thursday to book again, so the discount offer became worthless! Will not use this hotel since many other hotels offer better service!
