Location is very good; amenities were appropriate for apartment type accommodation (hot plate; dishes ...). Very modest quality of furnishings overall. Hallway floor boards have gaps; very worn down. TV has 32 channels listed, 4 actually get a signal; all are totally pixelated. Repair person was called and never showed up. Great for travelers with low expectations.

Very Disappointing Stay
The room was in very poor condition. The bathroom had mold on the walls, and the floor was cracking everywhere. There was also a strong, unpleasant odor in the room throughout my stay.
The internet connection was very bad and unreliable, which made it difficult to get any work done.
I made complaints almost every day, but unfortunately, nothing was ever fixed.
The only positive aspect of this hotel is the staff — the front desk personnel were very friendly and polite.
Overall, I would not stay here again and would not recommend it.

Smartr Madrid Gran Vía 47 is a solid retreat for active dynamic tourists and visitors seeking a central, short stay in Madrid. Its location is good, offering direct access to major sights and transit.

Pros:
• The central location is truly excellent for exploring the city.
• The breakfast provided was high-quality and very satisfying with a nice view of the city.
• Reception staff were friendly, helpful, and comfortably multilingual.

Cons:
• My specific room was very small and felt quite cramped.
• Outside street noise occasionally filtered into the living space.
• The bed could be better

Overall, it is a convenient "home base" if you plan to spend most of your time out exploring the city.

Great location, very centric, all the shoppings and restaurants, tourist sites near by. The downside is that the walls are not soundproof so you can hear all the conversations in the hallway, room next door and all the staff cleaning. Noisy! The room itself was convenient because it included some appliances in the kitchen, bathroom too small for the price. But clean!

Room smelled extremely strong like cigarretts, even when it stated it was non smoking. Room was dirty, furniture is old and worn. Room was not ready until 1 1/2 hours later than the stated check in time. Front desk is not very useful, property is not safe, any one can walk in and go up to the rooms since no key is needed for the elevator. Roof top image does not correspond to this hotel, it does not have a roof top, it corresponds to another one of their location a little bit further down. I booked for the price and availability, considering I had stayed in their other location in grand via 14 and had an amazing experience, this is deffinetly no where near similar. I did not stay at the room as it was unlivable, ended up using just as storage and staying the nights of my trip in friends room at another hotel. There were people complaigning at the front desk everytime I went by. Bath tub was dirty. I WILL NOT BOOK EVER AGAIN AND I DONT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

The location is great, next to Callao metro station, you can walk anywhere from there and have many restaurants and shops close by. The staff is very kind and helpful. Rooms are small but clean and functional. Would stay here again.

Room looked nothing like the pictures or description. Old, dirty and very well worn. Room size is tiny, access to the toilet past the bed is minimal. Permanent smell of a herbal odour from the local residents in the apartments, Bob Marley would be happy. We lasted 5 mins and left to find another hotel. Quite frankly a totally disgraceful .

The room was different than the photo in the app. The bed was little than the mattres and my husband and I were slip to the floor in both sides. The tv control was bandage with tape and has no batteries. They bought some in the second day but doesn't worked it. So it was ok but not good at all.

The apartment was plagued by black mold, and the floor and overall condition were deplorable. The size of the shower or toilet did not conform to any standard non-American or European code. To add insult to injury, the constant disturbance of the rest was a significant issue throughout the night and day. The sound of water running from the pipes in the room from other rooms, the constant smoking from attendants in the storage room, and the pervasive odor made the apartment unsuitable for anyone. It is a dilapidated and unsanitary place, and the price is not justified.

The location of the property it’s great, the property itself it’s not worth it that amount of money, we spent 6 nights and they didn’t clean the room ones, we have to ask for clean towels, they don’t have closets. The bathroom doesn’t have cabinets. They don’t have restaurant neither. The client has to go 2 blocks away to have breakfast, etc, etc.

Front desk staff were lovely!! Property is older but clean and tidy. Kitchen was adequately eqipped however we could not find pods in the grocery store fit the Delta coffee maker. Excellent location walkable to all the touristy spots and located in the theatre district. We enjoyed out stay.

The location is great. The room is much smaller than it appears with no night stands, a small table pushed in the inly tight spacw they could fit it. The condition is terrible the shower head is broken so you have to hold it to shower. The floor boards are all damaged and moving throughout the halls and worse in the room. The walls were dirty and the overall condition was damaged. The room was clean but so much disrepair it feels dirty.

This was almost false advertising. The only good things that can be said about this place is that the room was clean, and it is located in a busy downtown area with lots in walking distance. But the hotel itself is basically a "dive"-- windowless, dingy, elevators that stop a foot above the floor, no cleaning of the room each day, and the vaunted city view breakfast is two city blocks away in a totally different building.

The property looks improvised and under construction. I wanted to change dates and they did not extended the courtesy after several appeals by Expedia. They are thieves and are only interested in getting your money. DO NOT BOOK HERE! There are pleanty of cleaner more honest, more proper hotels arround.

This is by far the worst hotel/apartment I’ve ever stayed in, not only in Gran Vía, but possibly in all of Madrid. The location may seem appealing, but as soon as you walk into the apartment, all you want to do is leave. The sheets were filthy, the place smelled awful, and every time the toilet was flushed, a terrible sewage smell filled the bathroom.

The floors were literally broken with holes, unsafe! the walls were stained, the kitchen was dirty, and the entire apartment felt completely neglected and unhygienic. We were supposed to stay longer, but we had to leave after just one night, even knowing we wouldn’t get a refund. It simply wasn’t worth it; the place was disgusting.

I would absolutely not recommend this property to anyone under any circumstances

Basic stay for 2 nights. Reasonably clean but lots of noise coming from other apartments. The bathroom was very tired and hardly any room. Really hard to find (It’s next to the Atleti shop) with zero signage and it’s a bit intimidating walking in. Did the job for 2 nights but I wouldn’t recommend for a single person.

This property does not match the pictures. The rooms are rundown. Smartr only supplied sheets, no blankets. I had to use my single towel as a made up blanket. The room was so little there was no room to open the suitcase and it had a particular smell. I tripped many times between the bathroom and the bedroom because the divisor plate was loose. I was supposed to stay for 4 nights. After just one night I booked another place to stay.
I was really bombed after having such a good experience at the Smartr Valencia.

The best part about the property was the location which is right on the gran via. The room was nothing like the images. The floor tiles broken and in the bathroom as well with a strange odor coming from bathroom. If you want to save some money then book this, but spend entire day out in the city. Hotel bien ubicado, pero instalaciones viejas y descuidadas, nuestra estancia el primer día fue patética la habitación con una cama super pequeña donde al siguiente día pedimos que nos. Ambularan de habitación y nos dieron una con una mejor cama pero con el aire acondicionado malo, hicimos el reclamo para que repararan el aire y cuando llegamos en la noche no habían hecho nada y la persona del turno de la noche lo que me dio fue un ventilador para que tratara de dormir por qué no tenían habitaciones disponibles para cambiarnos, pasamos otra noche sin poder dormir y en la mañana hicimos el reclamo donde la manager que nos atendió de forma grocera y sin ganas de resolver lo que hizo fue discutir que allí ya habían arreglado el problema, la invité a subir a la habitación y el técnico fue con ella y se percataron de que el aire no servía, les envié un correo electrónico para que me hicieran un ajuste en el precio por las mallas noche que pagué y no disfruté pero no he tenido respuestas, así que piénsenlo antes de ir a este hotel muy mal estado

Pésima experiencia en Smart Madrid Gran Vía

Desde que llegué, la experiencia fue decepcionante. A pesar de haber llegado a la hora establecida para el check-in, la habitación no estaba lista y tuve que esperar más de una hora y media. Para colmo, el aire acondicionado del edificio no funcionaba bien, y tuve que insistir y discutir para que me cambiaran a una habitación donde por lo menos funcionara el aire, ya que hacía mucho calor.

La habitación era extremadamente pequeña, con camas incómodas y estrechas. La limpieza dejaba mucho que desear, especialmente en los pasillos. En el baño, la ducha estaba rota: el cabezal se caía y tenía que usarlo con la mano.

En resumen: si estás buscando un lugar cómodo y decente para disfrutar unos días en Madrid, evita este hotel. No lo recomiendo para nada.

I chose the hotel because on the description states that it has air conditioning. For the 3 nights I was there the air conditioner didn’t work, I reported it right away 2 or 3 times during the day and they kept promising that they would send somebody to fix it but never happened, the smell in the room was horrible, it was hard to describe, ur smelled like chemical cleaners, kind of like when you use industrial cleaners in a not ventilated area. I had to buy an air freshener and spray it several times a day and keep the windows open. A dog was barking in the room next door. Because I had no AC with the outside temperature of 28-30 degrees we had to sleep with the window open and you could hear the big avenue noise all night.
I had a 3 night stay and when I checked it there was only half a roll of toilet paper for 2 people. After such a bad experience I just decided not to ask for it and just go to the store to buy my own. Te remote for the tv didn’t work. I desisted from keeping to ask about the AC as I could tell front desk was getting annoyed that I kept asking for it. Someone from the morning shift, a guy with a thick beard when I asked about the AC he raised his voice and in a rude manner without even looking at me he said “I KNOW, WE ARE WORKING ON IT” I liked seating in the lobby where the AC was working all the time and it was cool. I guess that’s why they didn’t bother to fix the AC. As long as they are nice and cool they couldn’t care about the comfort of the guests.

The good points are: the location, beds (bed and sofa) and bathroom.
Bad points: room is too noisy ( there are bars and a lot of parties until 6-7 am) is difficult to sleep. The a/c doesnt work well, they say we will hace soap to clean dishes and we didnt get any.

Stated May9-13 8th floor. Tried contacting hotel twice about check in time. No reply.
Room is nice. Spacious. Balcony nice and spacious. There's is a table and chairs on balcony. But no pillows.
Stated in the listing the room has air-conditioning. But upon arrival we were told there's only air conditioning in june-aug. That was not made clear during booking. We were quite warm. And could not keep the balcony door open, as it had no screen to block bugs/animal.
We did not sleep well because of this.
Contacted hotels.com. It's been 5 days since I filed complaint. And hotels.com says they're still trying to reach the hotel to rectify the situation.
The area is central to everything. There is a small elevator.

Ni se parecen las imágenes de las habitaciones que enseña Expedía a la realidad de la habitación que tuve. Todo está súper gastado, manchado, la cocina, el baño,el piso levantado hasta en el hall, necesita remodelación en su totalidad. Y que se muestren fotos reales, el muchacho de la recepción me dijo es que la foto es un modelo, no, es una mentira. Los dos primeros días roto el aire acondicionado y el wifi horrible. Muy buen trato de los chicos en recepción y los del desayuno en Madrid 42, buena calidad el desayuno. Lo único excelente es la ubicación.

Perfect location on major street Gran Via! Walkable to all tourist destinations. We did not have to take public transportation even once. Conveniently located near Madrid Puerta de Atocha-Almundena Grandes and Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas Airport. However, the room is not as pictured. It is really old and outdated. In addition, there is a sewer smell that lingers in the room. Walls are thin and you can hear everything. Very few outlets in the room, we had to unplug the microwave to charge our phones. Bathroom is extremely small. I kept bumping into the bathroom sink. Overall, great for location but would probably not stay here again.

For a 3-star hotel it is excellent. In front of La Gran Via and the Santo Domingo bus and metro stops, it makes moving through Madrid a breeze. Carefour grocery is nearby, so are restaurants and ice cream shops. Near Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor and other landmarks in the area.

Dire not Smartr AVOID!

This was without doubt the worst apart hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Our first room was even worst than the alternative we were given, after protesting. Our next room felt claustrophobic and my wife described it as feeling like being imprisoned. There was little or no space therein. The bathroom was tiny with a damaged mini bath/shower and a shower head that had to be held, as without doing so it headed upward to the ceiling squirting water around the tiny room, more appropriately described as a closet. To use the toilet you’d to straddle it either side with barely enough room for your legs. The kitchen was very poorly equipped with a damaged counter and not enough plugs e.g. having to unplug the kettle to use the microwave. The only window had a curtain which my wife had to stand on a chair to be able to pull back. But the view was of a tiny enclosed gap with views of the backs of other rooms, too often of blurred frosted glass people showering! The hotel entrance was extremely grotty often with 1 or 2 homeless people on the steps, which the staff did nothing to address or clear. I mentioned the staff, well let’s clarify their indifference to customer service! EVERY request was treated like a burden e.g. when our hairdryer broke, we were greeted with a ‘What do you expect us to do about it?’ And literally being asked “Have you tried plugging it in?” I resisted expletives repeatedly dealing with these employees but I wish I’d the fluent Spanish to tell them some! Simply avoid!

The pictures shown of this property are a lie. I booked a single room with a twin bed. There was absolutely no decoration in the room, nor was it soundproof as is described. I heard everything my neighbor was doing, all the conversations, every time they opened the faucet and every time they left. There was also a lot of noise outside at all hours, made it very hard to sleep, even though the windows were closed. The bed I slept on was a literal cot. There was also an odor I noticed in the mornings in my room and in the hallways. The bathroom was very small but it was fine. The floor was cheap laminate flooring and made noise every time i walked. The TV was very old but it worked.

The room was clean and the location was great, walkable to most places and right by the trains and buses.

I would not stay here again or recommend this lodging to anyone. I was very disappointed in this accommodation and feel deceived as the pictures do not show the reality of the rooms.

When we arrived at the hotel at 15:15, we were informed that our room was not ready despite the advertised 15:00 check-in time. We returned at 16:30, only to find that the room was still not prepared. As a result, we were offered a downgraded room, which we accepted to avoid further delay.

The room provided was acceptable in terms of comfort; however, there was a significant plumbing issue. Every time we used the shower, water seeped through the floor, flooding the entire room. When we reported this to the receptionist, we were told nothing could be done, so we placed towels on the floor to manage the situation.

While the stay had its positive aspects, these issues left us feeling that the experience did not fully meet expectations.

Great place to stay. It is located in Gran Via, Callao, close to different metro stations. The apartment was small but well equipped.
