Staff was very nice and helpful. We arrived early and they had 1 of our 3 rooms available without any extra cost. That room was remodel and looked great, the other 2 rooms were not recently remodel but where big and in great condition. The Hotel was just a short walk from La Gran Vía and the Palacio Real. We easily walk central Madrid from it. Free water and coffee was available near the lobby. Front lobby staff was very friendly. We really enjoyed our stay.

My only complaint would be the Air conditioning, it was tapped at 19 and it would have been OK but it never got to 19 in the room. It got very very warm and was hard to sleep especially with it being 37 outside.

I may choose a different hotel next time.

This hotel was set back about 20 years I bet. The hotel had physical metal keys for the doors, which was a surprise. I had to carry around this giant plastic block that was attached to the key throughout the day. The elevators had the normal operating door and the exterior door, and the bathroom was set back a ways. The hair dryer was attached to the wall, easily 20 years old. It had duct tape on it to help the wires from fraying out. For our entire trip, we were most disappointed in this one.

Room was quite big, especially compared to comparable lodging we stayed in during our trip to Spain. Air conditioning worked great, always cold water, sparkling water and coffee available in lobby. Lobby was cute and good sized. There was a bar on the premises, but it never appeared to be open - I think you had to ask the front desk for service if you wanted bar service. Breakfast was average but reliable. Good coffee! Would absolutely stay here again!

There are a lot of options close to this place with better facilities, rooms are much smaller than what you think and the noise level is disturbing if you are looking for a good night sleep. Parking does not come included and it is 25 per night, you are better of using the public parking garage of which there are many optons

We really enjoyed our stay in Hotel Casón del Tormes. It is in a very central location and close to transport links.
We paid in advance for a superior room and the room was very spacious and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was of good quality and had a good range of options including fresh fruit.
There was a filtered water machine and a coffee machine (both free) in the lovely hotel lobby.
We only stayed 2 nights, but we would have loved to stay for longer.

The hotel is located conveniently near a metro station and right by the Gran Via.

The main lobby is pleasant. They have complimentary coffee, tea and water (both flat and sparkling).

We had some issues with our check in that were not the fault of reception but this seemed to distract the employee who checked us in. Because of this, he didn't tell us anything about the property. We had to continually come and ask about wifi, complimentary services, breakfast, etc.

The rooms are okay, certainly nothing special. They were clean and included the essentials.

All in all, it was a good option for our overnight stay in Madrid.

Good but could be great!

This hotel is located is an excellent area. I was impressed with cleanliness of the hotel and room, however I was extremely disappointed with the fact that they intentionally shut down the air conditioner in all rooms during cold season so we had to keep windows open which would then make the room extremely cold and had to wake up in middle of night to close it. I complained the front clerk and I was told that they have received the same complaint from others. They said owners are aware of the issue but changes have not been made. This truly ruins the experience because we couldn’t really be comfortable in our room. The front clerk Victor was very very friendly and professional, thank you Victor!!

Could Have Been Great

This would be a great hotel if it wasn't for some issues. The staff is friendly, the room was clean, water pressure was excellent, and the bed was comfortable. However, there was no way to regulate the temperature in our room. There were some hot days during our March stay but the hotel turned on the heater for the entire premise, which heated our room even more. On top of that, the AC unit in our room was disconnected by management to prevent guests from using it. The only solution we were given was to open our window which led to a shared balcony... this was not a good option. This needs to be addressed by management as it is not conducive to a comfortable stay during hot weather. Also, the hotel doesn't use key cards, instead they give you a single key with a huge keychain that you are supposed to carry with you or leave at the front desk if you prefer...

The location of the hotel was great. The rooms were extremely noisy to the point that I had no sleep whilst i stayed. The walls were super thin and everytime the room next door to us flushed their toilet I thought someone is using our rooms toilet.

Again hotel with big rooms in a great loation

With spacious rooms in a great location near Plaza de España, Cason del Tormes is showing its age. Like all Spanish hotel, it seems, the walls are thin so you can hear any rambunctious neighbors. Wifi is unreliable and power outlets few and located inconveniently beneath tables and behind desks where old-school appliances were traditionally plugged in, not near the bed or above the desk where modern devices are most often used.

So much to see and do.

Situated on a street parallel to Plaza de Espana, so very quiet, but also convenient for the metro, bus routes and city tours' access. Within easy walking distance of many tourist/cultural attractions and a good variety of bars and restaurants locally. The staff were friendly and helpful.

I was skeptical about this place as the price was quite good, considering the location-so close to Grand Via. The older gentleman at the front desk was so pleasant & funny! The room was very clean (my top priority), the bed was comfortable, the shower was big and I loved everything! I realize this is Spain, & they only had 1 channel in English. We did not try the breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel.

The staff and breakfast and evening wine bar were outstanding. Loved the breakfast especially. The room was too small for double bed and 2 people, although the bathroom was of good size. We also could hear conversation quite clearly from two rooms so they could hear us as well. We only had 1 room, perhaps one of the last as we booked late. It maybe others are better. I would definitely stay again.

OK hotel in great location. No noise from outside, but some from inside, every time someone flushed their toilet the pipes rattled a lot and was a lot of noise, also could hear noise from corridor and other rooms. When people closed their doors loud bangs. Decor is quite basic and dated.

Walls are very thin - can hear conversations and movements in adjacent rooms. Room 205 was very tired; worn floors, minimum furnishings and patch ceilings. Dust Bunnies near available power outlets. AC barely worked and could not keep up even in high speed. Noise from Dance club located across alley continued until midnight on a Tuesday night challenged a good nights rest for an early flight the next morning.

The wifi was good. Good speed.
The walls are thin however so you can hear quite a bit of noise and the shower is very small (about 3 by 2 feet).

Love staying here!

We always stay at this hotel when traveling to Madrid. We get treated like family. The staff is supper nice and always try to accommodate and make their guests feel like at home. The rooms are cleaned and good size. The hotel is located a block away from La Gran Via, and is walking distance from everything in the center of Madrid. And their breakfast, it is very delicious, fresh and with lots of options. Will definitely stay here again, and again!
