The best hotel we have ever stayed in. Cromlix is situated in a lovely setting, each room in the house has been tastefully decorated and dressed. All the staff are so friendly and welcoming and put you at ease from the very beginning. The food options are a step above for evening dining and at breakfast. Could not fault it a superb stay that we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

This is a beautiful and peaceful property. After a long day of travel and the desire to delay the more busy Edinburgh, this was the perfect place to relax and rest and renew before continuing on with our travels in Scotland. The property is perfectly maintained, the staff is excellent and every detail has been thought through with care. We would have loved to stay a second night.

From the moment we entered the hotel we immediately felt special and taken care of. The sign in process was a joy, and the room did not dissapoint! The bed was divine, and the attention to detail in the room was impressive. We had a fabulous meal at the onsite restaurant, and it was reasonably priced as well. My wife and I cannot wait to go back.

Fabulous!

Spur of the moment visit for me (and my dog), the experience right from entering the grounds was lovely. Everyone was extremely welcoming, with a glass of fizz and the hotels signature scent (newly arrived candles) which smelled amazing I felt right at home.

My room, Lavender Cottage, was spacious, very clean and had everything needed. Bed was very comfortable (firm mattress). Nice selection of teas along with family recipe shortbread.

Great offerings for breakfast with a nice view of the garden. A quick visit of the grounds (which the dog enjoyed) and beautiful chapel and my stay was over. I will defiantly return.

Service and staff were amazing. The room felt a bit tired and dated. The light fixtures and fittings weren’t in keeping with the rooms and the bedding was dated. The bathroom needed up dating to.

We were also very disappointed with the food it was over priced and nothing special. The vegetarian options were uninspired and not what you would expect from the Roux name.

I would struggle to recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

We booked in for a one night stay with dinner for my 70th birthday. On check in our
reservation could not be traced although luckily I was able to show e mail confirmation . Some mix up between hotels .com and Cromlix had caused the issue but all was fixed and on hearing it was a special event we were upgraded to the Bowes Lyon suite which was much appreciated and very special.
The hotel is in a lovely location in the middle of spectacular scenery . It is a late nineteenth century country house and retains the character of the period with decor and furnishings to match . Our dinner and breakfast were of a high standard the only negative being the portion sizes for starters and dessert at dinner which whilst looking great and being tasty were very small .
Overall it was a great treat and thanks to the lady at reception and the deputy manager the upgrade made it memorable.
The staff at the hotel are fantastic and a credit to the hotel.
We highly recommend a visit.

The Cromlix was an excellent experience. The customer service was outstanding and the menu although limited the quality served was first class. The selection of beers were very limited.

In the room I was surprised there was no full length mirror.

Overall a first class three day stay where the weather allowed us to enjoy the grounds.

Failed to meet expectations

Failed to meet expectations for a £200 per night room charge. Bedrooms comfortable but very disappointing, beige and very bland lacking any wow factor that a half decent interior designer could provide. Restaurant menu choice - main course - veggie option, fish or roe deer. Realising the limitation you are also allowed to chose from their bar menu which is equally limited and over-priced for what they deliver. The restaurant is effectively a conservatory extension which is fine for breakfast but has no ambience whatsoever. Staff are good and the hotel is comfortable but totally underwhelming.

Very relaxing stay. This is a country house hotel with a relatively small number of rooms and felt peaceful despite being full. We particularly enjoyed tea in front of the fire which was constantly replenished with logs. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Food was very good. Our room was large, clean and comfortable. The only improvement would be to keep on top of room upkeep, the chairs in the room needed to be reupholstered, paint was a bit chipped around door and shower seal needed replacement. Small details though. Would definitely recommend.

Chilled stay at the Cromlix

The hotel had a really nice vibe. The waiting staff although young, all worked really hard, engaged with guests and a real credit to the hotel.
The only minor criticism that we would make is that there was no coffee or tea making facilities in the suite.
We would have liked the freedom to be able to have had a hot drink in the room when or if we fancied it.
However, the lovely waiter took up a hospitality tray to our suite on the second night.
Fizzy water would have been a nice option in the room too.
The food was first class. Possibly the best food I have ever had including the cooked breakfast.
100 percent would stay at the Cromlix again but now need to go on a diet first!!

Cromlix is an elegant country house with lovely decor. The staff are very helpful and a clearly well trained, just what you would expect in a 5* establishment. Little things that let it down spoil what is quite an expensive place to stay. There are no drinks facilities in you room meaning you have to go down and pay for them.

We had an amazing time! Took my girlfriend for her birthday and they upgraded us for free to a junior suite! The suite was awesome and the shower was a steam room. Doesn't get much better than that.

The food in the restaurant was fantastic and the cocktails on the lawn area were perfect.

Every staff member was lovely and we truly felt welcome and at home. The onsite kitchen garden is great to visit too. I highly recommend walking around on the grounds. They are beautiful.

Couldn’t fault our 2 night stay at Cromlix. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They took their responsibilities regarding COVID-19 very seriously. No issues with social distancing, rooms had a seal on the door after cleaning, even saw staff fogging public areas keeping the guests (and staff) safe. Food was excellent too. Overall a great stay and will definitely stay with them again. Thank you to all staff who made our stay so special.

The Cromlix Hotel is lovely in so many ways-- the property is beautiful, the staff are warm and welcoming and always available, the room was really more of a suite with its own corridor, beautifully appointed bedroom and seating area, and bathroom. Attention was paid to every detail to make us feel pampered without feeling intruded upon. The restaurant is modern and decorated simply with warm lighting and fantastic food. Lots of lovely guests to interact with in the fireplace room. I would have loved to stay much longer and explore the grounds.

5 star for food but sad to say not for the Wallace room does not compare to other hotels of this rating very dreary looking. Time for a new carpet and mattress, pillows also uncomfortable. Duvet far too heavy and warm for weather. Bathroom door sticks due to tiles having broken and not being fixed. Radiator in bathroom making noise and looks like it has been leaking. In general there seems to be a lack in maintenance. Time for a refurbish!

This was our third stay at Cromlix (second since the interior was updated/renovated 5 or 6 years ago?) and it was just as magical as the times before. Fancy, but still comfortable, peaceful, and cozy.The grounds are beautiful and it feels really special. The furniture is lovely, the bathrooms are elegant, and the service is top-notch. I particularly enjoyed the few chickens wandering about by the garden and taking a short walk to the lake.
A bit toasty in our room thanks to the unseasonable warmth (and being un-acclimated Americans that normally sleep in air-conditioned meat-locker temperatures). I always hope there is a next time!
