Really friendly staff and the bar is a great social space. Room was more than big enough, nice and clean and warm. (I travel a lot with work and know the importance of a good shower, and the shower was definitely good!) Location is fantastic being in the old town and just down the road from the castle. Would definitely come back

I accidentally booked a disabled king room, but they kindly gave me a double room instead which was nice. However the room conditions were just tired looking, lighting could do with being upgraded as rooms are too dark. Tap on the sink was so wobbling off the basin, I also had bugs in the shower. Fridge was a noisy small desk one.

Room key card issues delayed entry to room and couldn’t get my own key for some time. Room was stuck in the70’s in an entirely unironic way. Carpet threadbare, bathroom sterile, furniture worn and damaged, tv remote working only intermittently, WiFi very slow. Staff helpful, issues not their fault.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel with very friendly staff. We had the Bruce suite which was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed a hearty breakfast before leaving also.
Only complaint was the sealant round the shower had a substantial amount of black mould.

colessio hotel looked stunning upon arrival, from the outside, the reception/lobby area.. beautiful, however we were totally disappointed in our room,
Personally I am not normally one to complain, and we unfortunately had dinner reservations so didnt have time to say to reception and be moved.
but the carpet was an utter disgrace for a King deluxe room..
it was frayed, lifting at the toilet door and it was all rippling which is a trip hazard.
sink in the bathroom also had a big chip out the glass and it was a sharp edge.
I have taken pictures of these and am happy to forward them on.

Great hotel within walking distance of town centre and castle, staff were helpful and polite. Room was modern and everything you would need for a never two night stay, small fridge with water was a nice feature, the large bath enough for 2 was very good just took ages to fill as it was so big. Enjoyed our stay here would definitely stay here again, it was very quiet and very good for the price.

The hotel is a great place.
Parking is convenient at a cost but not unreasonable.
Reception was very efficient and quick, we upgraded to a deluxe king which was great.
All the facilities are spot on and a great touch was the deicer in reception, it was very cold.
Breakfast was really good, nice variety, very tasty with excellent service.
Handy for all the sights and good restaurants.

Room lovely with large blackout curtains on all windows apart from one above bed which had a Venetian blind, there was a street light on outside all night so room never dark, struggled sleeping, shame just needed to put a Roman blind up matching the curtains.
Breakfast, tea and coffee in thermal jugs and was warm at best. Pastries like cheap supermarket ones. Porridge was made from water not milk which was horrible but that’s down to my personal preference.

After reading some of the reviews I was a little concerned about our stay. First impression, lovely hotel, our room was clean, spacious, a little tired and in need of a upgrade but. My family including my dog slept well. Quite rooms. Staff on the first morning breakfast was accommodating and very helpful. Was informed we couldn't sit in the main eating area but he moved all that was needed. The next morning different story. The man was unhelpful and clearly didn't want to be there for the day. All in all a good stay just last staff member ruined it a bit

4 stars because of the value. The hotel is a bit dated, but fine. The room was small, and the bed not the greatest, the bathroom was nice. But I found the hotel charming- and the staff excellent. The bar in the hotel is cozy and friendly (a special thank you to Chris for making us feel welcome!). The location is excellent in the center of historic Stirling. It seemed like parking was pretty easy (though we didn't have a car). I would recommend, with reasonable expectations.

The room was nice and big, just a little run down. It was mostly clean but the bathroom could have been better.
Staff at reception were friendly and helpful but not so much at breakfast. Continental breakfast options were limited and only 2 options were included in the breakfast. A further charge of £5 is added for anything thats not a scottish breakfast or filled roll.
Location was great. Plenty of parking available and not too bad a price for overnight.

The biggest problem with this property was the check-in procedure. You had to snag a parking place in the front and then walk up at least 20 steps to check in. Then walk back down. Either get your luggage out and somehow get it up the steps or leave it in your car and pay $10 a day to park it in their parking lot out back with no easy way into the hotel.

The Colessio is situated in the heart of downtown Stirling, which made it a very convenient location for exploring the city on foot. It is housed in an historic building which is quite lovely as well. Our room was clean and the bed was quite comfortable. We did find the heat a little difficult to regulate, and were quite hot through the night. The furniture and fixtures are a bit run down (i.e. the finish was lifting off the desk in the room and the sink had a large (repaired) crack down the middle, but everything was working, so that was really all we cared about. Unfortunately, there was some sort of problem in the kitchen, which meant that there was no food service in the restaurant, so we weren't able to take advantage of breakfast or dinner on site. The staff, however, were super friendly and very helpful.

Unfortunately after coming here over the years we have seen a reduction in quality. Staffing seems to be limited, with the front desk now closed down and check in now taking place at the cocktail bar where others are drinking.
The restaurant was also closed while we stayed due to renovations, however this was not stated when booking. This meant no dinner and only continental breakfast was available despite still selling a full breakfast online.
It’s a shame as the building is very beautiful, but the soft services need a lot of attention.

I recently stayed at this hotel and I have to say, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. From the moment I arrived, I could tell that the place was very poorly managed.

The bar was barely stocked when I tried to order a drink, I was told that they had “run out” of almost everything I wanted. It was incredibly frustrating.

To make matters worse, the restaurant was closed for dinner, leaving guests with no proper dining options. Yet, they still charge you for a full cooked breakfast, but all they served was a poor continental spread that didn’t even come close to what I was expecting.

On top of all that, the rooms were outdated and dirty. The cleanliness was far from acceptable, and the furniture looked like it hadn’t been updated in years.

Overall, it was a disappointing stay, and I will definitely not be coming back.

Arrived early, we weren't expecting to check in but reception staff quite unhelpful, we had parked our car in the hotel car park but were told we only had 15 minutes to pay for parking and to do it straight away. We hadn't realised we had to pay for parking being patrons of the hotel, when i mentioned this i was told that i clearly hadn't read the extra information on the booking site.
The room was supposed to be deluxe ,we had no fridge in the room and no air conditioning, the room was red hot, we opened the windows but no air was circulated. We had floor to ceiling windows that overlooked the car park. Anyone getting in there car could see in. We were on the second floor.
There was also a lift that only went to the 1st floor. We had to go up in the lift to the first floor walk half way round the building to find the stairs then go up another 2 flights of stairs, further along the corridor and up a short flight of stairs to our room. No offer of assistant for luggage.
We arrived for breakfast at 8.30 on the first morning to find nothing left on fruit buffet. When asked if we could have more fruit we were informed that there was non left. Although they had a resturant style area they did not have meals other than breakfast.
No names were offered and service very poor. Only saving grace was lication of hotel

Great location, ideal for visiting both the castle and the town centre. Our room had a brand new refurbished bathroom that was fantastic, with a huge bath tub and separate shower but the room itself definitely needed new furniture as all the surfaces were worn and it could all do with a lick of paint. The bed was VERY hard (but I prefer them this way) and we had one window without curtains so it got bright early. We had a 'corner' room and it was very quiet throughout the night. With a few small touches this could be the most excellent hotel though!

I never leave reviews, but in this case I feel I should. The staff were lovely and the location amazing, however the property is totally run down. The carpets in the room were literally torn up, the furniture tattered, the pillows and beds uncomfortable, and the first room they offered us was so small we couldn’t open both suitcases. They gave us another room slightly bigger. The bathrooms were large and completely remodeled but the room itself was embarrassing. We were glad to be be there only one night.

The staff were wonderfully accommodating but the temperature of the room was unbearably hot. There were other guests who used a chair to prop their door open to the hallway to get some cool air. We left our room windows and curtains open all night to get cool air, even though the light outside kept us awake and woke up early. It was very uncomfortable. The hallways and lobby were a nice temperature but the room was terrible.

This was advertised as a four star hotel
The room we were allocated had a threadbare carpet , an old black vinyl based bed and all the vinyl was peeling off and worn . A mismatch of poor quality bathroom fixtures, varnish peeling off the furniture.
This was reported to reception but no other rooms were available no manager till the following morning either so I asked if a message could be left and we would see him .
Only the duty manager was available no message had been left at all .
We moved to another room which had been refurbished which was we should have had initially.
We arrived in the restaurant for breakfast the following morning and waited 20 minutes for our order to be tsken . Half an hour later it still hadn’t arrived . This was reported also and we were refunded £13 for the breakfast.
After receiving a mail from the hotel asking how our stay was and the general managers mail to contact him with any concerns , I sent a mail and still waiting a reply …..

We had a great stay at Hotel Colessio, the staff was friendly, and it’s in a great location to see Stirling Castle. Easily walkable from the hotel. Breakfast was good, had smoked salmon both days. I’ve seen people complain about the beds. Ours was firmer than we’re used to, but still comfortable enough for a good nights rest. I might be concerned about the shower accessibility if I was an older person. It’s a deep bathtub which was great but a little slippery and a large step over the edge.
Parking was about around 18 pounds for 48 hours.
Would stay again if I was coming to the area.

The room was not the category that we had reserved. We had to argue to get this fixed. The paid for breakfast is disappointing: eggs are a supplement, as a latte. Finally, asked twice to get a second set of towels in the room (after all, there were two of us !!!). Never got the set.

Location is incredible. But this is a common sell: looks incredible on the outside, underdeliver once inside.

Will definitely come back to Stirling, but I will look for another \"luxury\" hotel.

Sadly only thing to let the hotel down was the breakfast, Scottish Breakfast simply awful (many others agreed) the amount of breakfasts left uneaten was a lot ! Fruit & Pastries were not replaced efficiently again leading to long delays and many people asking staff to replenish.
I’m sure the breakfast issues can be sorted (although after speaking to regular guests it appears to have been an issue for a long time).
We will certainly stay again as like I said staff and the hotel were great just the poor breakfast service and quality.

A bit odd, having to pay for parking, even though the car park is obviously theirs. Then having to book in at the bar was a bit weird. Room at some point had obviously been quite plush, good carpet and cutains, bathroom had nice fixtures and fittings, but was all a bit tired. Bed and pillows were comfy, room was very warm, and there seemed to be a building site next door that started at 7am. Most importantly, despite having a very nice looking restaurant, and an online menu they do not serve dinner (evening meal) at all, and had the gall to look surprised when I told them there was a menu on line.

The hotel is located in a striking, historical building and the location is great. Our room was also large, well lit and the ensuite bathroom was very nice.
The hotel markets itself as a “luxury” hotel and has the makings of one. But the staff do not appear to be well trained, the food was not great, and the furniture in our room was moderate quality at best and somewhat beaten up by wear and tear. It is also strange that the hotel does not have control over parking on what appears to be its own property.
With some money, quality management and training, this could be a true five star hotel.
It was a pleasant place to stay as is.

A super friendly welcome and helpful people. The receptionist even carried my bag upstairs because I had hurt my back. My room was spotless and inviting. Even though the hotel is located on a main road, the traffic falls quiet in the early evening. I ate in the hotel both nights, and the food was very good.
There was only one working socket in the room and just a single ceiling light. It would have been perfect with a comfy chair and a reading light.

Nice hotel in Sterling

This is not a “resort” level hotel but it is a very nice hotel for travelers for a one or two night stay. It is close to town so all of the local restaurants, pubs and coffee shops are easily walkable as is the castle and backside walk. There is parking (extra fee). I recommend.

My bath tub wouldn’t drain and the window wouldn’t close. No big deal just sucked in the wee early morning to not shower. There was a moment where exiting a man over the entrance had his foot out the window cutting his toe nails. Gross but not the hotels fault. Bathroom was very large which I appreciated after traveling all day. Bed was comfortable and clean.

The location was wonderful and the staff very helpful, however the beds are torturous and I'm not a fan of the bathroom door being glass. Exterior of the building is gorgeous though and you can't beat the walkability.

Booked this accommodation as it appeared with Parking. This claim was misleading- you pay for the privilege.
Shower unusable as it scolded hot water on you, even after the lovely handyman \"fixed\" it. Had to bathe under bath faucet. Toilet ran.

The rooms require appropriate adapters for visitors. I asked for my room lotion to be filled and it was never done. Other than that I loved the area. Stirling was beautiful.

Everything was great but the restaurant for breakfast was lacking in comparison to most hotels of this quality. Staff was fantastic, room was clean and beds comfortable. Very quiet as well.
