Great central location for shops, restaurants and bars. Kitchen not open for dinner at night if you wanted a quiet night in but breakfast outstanding and good value.
Double room small and needs upgraded but bathroom massive and appears newly done. Overall would return and staff very welcoming. Parking an added cost but does save you paying at shopping centre.

The hotel is a beautiful historic building in the centre of Stirling, once an infirmary, bank and library, and the exterior still has that charm. The location is excellent, with Stirling Castle and the Old Town Jail a short walk uphill, and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Parking is limited at the front but we paid £18 for 48 hours, and there’s extra parking behind the hotel. The public areas—bar, reception, lounge and breakfast room—are modern, stylish and welcoming, and staff were pleasant throughout.

Unfortunately, our room (114) didn’t match the standard downstairs. The décor was very dated, the headboard had yellowed, the furniture was scratched, and the black sink was marked. There were only two usable plugs, no bedside sockets, no bedroom mirror, and the tiny fridge only held two complimentary tins of water. We also found hairs on the wall, toilet and bath. Breakfast was nice, though the stained blue cloth under the food made the area feel less hygienic.

Overall, the hotel has huge potential thanks to its history, location and lovely communal spaces, but the rooms—especially ours—need refurbishment. I would stay again, but only in an upgraded room.

The location for Stirling town centre is excellent! The lobby bar and restaurant all look great. The staff at check in were lovely. However We did not like our room it was basic and looked onto a flat roof . There were no bedside tables and only 1 chair to sit on. The bed was in a platform which I tripped off during the night and the floor had squeaky floor boards.
Staff were friendly and parking was good at £10 for 24 hours. We never complained to staff about our room as it was only 1 night .
I think if we had paid for an upgrade the room may have been better?

The Colessio has great location (Just a short walk up to Stirling Castle), it has great staff, a nice bar and a reasonable breakfast. Like most places in Scotland, the breakfast could benefit from something other than sliced white bread. There are dark breads, full grain breads, full grain crackers (try breakfast in Norway) but they don't seem to come to Scottish hotels.. Nevertheless, in addition to the buffet there were cooked-to-order items such as Eggs Florentine and Eggs Benedict which were excellent. The room had all we need, it was at the back of the building with a view which was not memorable. I guess I need to learn that "King Deluxe" means "View of a Parking Lot." The room was baking in the sun, but fortunately the windows open so you can eventually cool down. (Blazing sun and hot temperatures are not on the list of things that travelers to Scotland usually write about). All in all, a positive experience.

Collesio Hotel is in a superb location for seeing many of Stirlings historic sights. Few minutes walk from exceptional restaurants and pubs.
Parking is available, few free, mostly paid at an immediately adjacent lot. The Hotel is in an historic building and there is a lovely bar/lounge area as you walk in. That is also where checkin is! Few oddities: The "fridge" is tiny and will fit a couple of beverages cans. We had a spacious large room with comfortable bed and pillows. The tiles in the beautiful bathroom, however, were broken and presented a tripping and cutting hazard. Hopefully they are fixing those. Staff was helpful.

Conveniently located for the castle and the centre of town. Bar and restaurant area are excellent although having Reception at the bar seems a little quirky. Useful after having the other half drive you there though. Room was spacious and clean. Parking had to be paid to a third party but the hotel staff were very helpful getting it done. No A/C.
The lift only goes to the first floor so if you have mobility concerns, keep that in mind. We were on the second floor with heavy suitcases but the staff were more than happy to take them up and down the stairs for us.

Warning. Car parking is not free and is payable at all times. This is because it is managed by a third-party.

Staff on arrival could have been polite and more helpful but reception staff were eventually welcoming.

The room was clean and welcoming however not all windows had curtains so difficult to sleep.

A Grand Exterior, A Slightly Underwhelming Stay (With Potential)

Set in an imposing and rather beautiful building in the heart of Stirling, the Collasio Hotel couldn’t be better placed. Surrounded by cobbled streets, period buildings, the dramatic presence of Stirling Castle and the nearby Old Town Jail, you genuinely feel like you’re about to step onto the set of a period drama—grand, atmospheric, and full of promise.

Inside, however, that sense of occasion fades rather quickly. The décor feels oddly generic and, at times, a little cheap—more “Dunelm clearance aisle” than historic Scottish landmark. There’s little to no sense of the building’s story or its surroundings, and the overall effect leans towards something slightly tacky rather than thoughtfully styled. Strip away the exterior and you could just as easily be in a budget chain hotel off a motorway.

This continues in the Bruce Suite. While the name gives a nod to Robert the Bruce, the design leans more towards crushed velvet, silver accents and modern abstract art. It’s not without effort, but the overall feel is less “curated design” and more “recently discovered a love of interiors and gone all in at once”—plenty of enthusiasm, if not quite a clear point of view.

There are also a few small quirks that raise a smile. A decanter and glasses are thoughtfully placed in the room—though entirely empty, leaving you to decide whether to admire it or start your own minibar. In the otherwise impressive marble bathroom, t

This was an ideal location for us to explore Stirling, and we loved the on site parking option. Our room was spacious and clean though the carpet was pretty worn. Kyle checked us in and helped us throughout our stay, he was great! The breakfast was a little disappointing, unfortunately. It was basic fare and we had to pay to upgrade to eggs, etc since we didn't book directly through the hotel website.

Our room arguably had the noisiest floor I've ever walked across, and I'm sure that no-one in the rooms either side or below would have missed my nightime bathroom excursion. Furniture was traditonal but scuffed and in need of a fair bit of TLC.
The hotel is staffed frugally, with only one young girl visible anywhere at any one time. Delightfully friendly and a grafter though, and everpresent, being there for check-in, evening bar service and check out.

Staff were friendly, location was great, place was clean. My issue is my room had no AC, I was on the 1st floor and window faced outside terrace so couldn’t sleep with it open. There was a fan but was not enough. Bed was very uncomfortable, no plush mattresses there. Not even a mattress cover just a sheet over an old mattress. Ceiling paint was peeling, looked like water damage. Shower was very hot and couldn’t add cold water. Lighting not the best in the bathroom. Did not refill snacks or water. Would I stay here again, I don’t think I would. Very noisy, I could here people upstairs pass gas!

After paying £140 for the room and £10 to park, on site, I expected more.
Room was very tired. Carpet was worn through to backing, dressing table & beside tables were covered in peeling varnish, worn through to wood on all the edges. The floor around all furniture was covered in dust, debris and it was clear there was no standards to cleaning.
Some of the wooden slats on the window shutters were broken. Walls all marked.
Just generally very disappointing. If you are looking for a nice hotel getaway, this isn't the place.

1st room assigned had a bed I knew would be uncomfortable as could feel metal frame in mattress, lady at front showed us another room and bed was better but very hard for me but I survived. Carpet was very worn, could see through lining. Room was 129 square feet (which was noted on site) so there is no room to put luggage for two people, bathroom was almost as big as room, shower was a trickle of a sprayer that was clogged, it was a joke, or the rain shower above was an option BUT no shower cap so if you choose the rain shower your hair was getting wet. Water in shower was HOT and only HOT. I like hot showers but it was too hot. Parking in back so that was good. Great location to walk to Sterling castle or restaurants. If we were to stay again I would upgrade to bigger room.

Because of hip and knee problems, it was wonderful to have helpful staff carry my case up the stairs into the hotel. I had a lovely first-floor room, clean, bright, with a spacious bathroom that had a separate tub from the walk-in shower. There was a good amount of space in the area that had a closet and a desk. The selection of teas in the room was excellent for me since I am not a coffee drinker, but they had organic coffee, too. From decorations to comfort and especially to the helpful staff, this was a great choice for me as a solo traveler.

I accidentally booked a disabled king room, but they kindly gave me a double room instead which was nice. However the room conditions were just tired looking, lighting could do with being upgraded as rooms are too dark. Tap on the sink was so wobbling off the basin, I also had bugs in the shower. colessio hotel looked stunning upon arrival, from the outside, the reception/lobby area.. beautiful, however we were totally disappointed in our room,
Personally I am not normally one to complain, and we unfortunately had dinner reservations so didnt have time to say to reception and be moved.
but the carpet was an utter disgrace for a King deluxe room..
it was frayed, lifting at the toilet door and it was all rippling which is a trip hazard.
sink in the bathroom also had a big chip out the glass and it was a sharp edge.
I have taken pictures of these and am happy to forward them on.
