Absurdly convenient location! I thought my friend who used to live in the area was exaggerating when she said I'd be 3 minutes from the subway, but the subway elevator put me out just across the street from the hotel.
The hotel itself was also excellent - very cozy rooms, lobby staff were very helpful if I had questions. Excellent stay!

For a hotel in the 21st century, the lack of convenient electricity is kind of appalling. While the lack on N. American wall plugs is understandable, a comparable hotel in Rome at least had a single 120V socket for the odd appliance you might need, this had none. No fridge at all, which just seems odd and inconvenient. there were only 2 wall plugs in the entire room, 1 of which was originally taken up by a desktop lamp. Upon arrival to the room, there were no blankets of any kind available anywhere in the room, let alone on the bed, we ended up having to take pictures of the bed(s)to prove that they only had sheets on them.

The AC ran nice and cold, and the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, which took the rough edge off the stay. Overall 2.5 /5, unfortunately would not stay there again, nor would we recommend. Nice decor though.

Negative is room was so small it was a challenge to open my suitcase on the floor.
Worse was the small size of the deskspace.
I had booked the room as a quiet place to sit down for a few hours and finally get on with boring stuff on my laptop that needed to be done but the desk, if one can call it that, was not large enough to open my laptop on and comfortably place my arms resting on it too so overall I was rather frustrated that I spent the money & was unable to do what Ai needed too.
There were some tables downstairs near the coffee machine but it was less quiet there.

The hotel was very close to everything (Basilica St. Paul, The Musei Vaticani, foods, etc). Metro station with a little walk. Very secure because all the doors need keys to open it. Not everybody can enter easily. Very clean. The owner, Nina and Mario were very nice and accommodating, helpful. I couldn’t notify them before I arrived and checked out late, the were understanding of my situation. Definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel was good. Some renovations were done. We had an old room, which i knew but it was smaller than i thought. On the good side, our breakfast was included and it was amazing (full buffet)!! The AC was only in spanish and hard to figure out but we managed. Also, in the description it says laundry. Thats false, they have laundry service ($$) and only on week days so it didn’t worked for the days we were there. That should be advertised as such. But all together, good hotel, great location (2 metro/train stations next to hotel), lovely neighborhood with grocery stores and boutiques and restaurants. I would recommend and go back.

When we arrived in our double standard room we noticed that there were no windows facing the exterior. We went down to the front desk and talked with Alex who was able to accommodate our request for a room with exterior facing windows. Once settled in the new room the rest of our stay was great.

Our experience with the front desk staff was pleasant with the exception of one of the staff who was a bit dismissive and short with us. All the other staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as nice as possible. We even had one of them pack us a grab and go breakfast kit for our early morning flight as we were departing before the breakfast area opened up.

The area is situated near metros and is very walkable to a lot of different attractions. We would come back and would recommend this hotel to others.

I loved this hotel so much! The area was very scenic and walkable, the hotel staff were extremely friendly and accommodated us when we needed to drop off our bags before check in. Our room also had a gorgeous view of the city. The only small problem we had was gnats in the restroom, which may have been related to the window in there, but other than that the property was very clean.

Great location, walking distance to excellent restaurants & bakeries in Gràcia. The best part is that this hotel is outside the tourist hell that Barcelona has become. You can walk to the gothic quarter (if you wish) but you can also enjoy a more authentic Barcelona experience. Clean rooms, knowledgeable & friendly staff, good breakfast. Highly recommend.

Very clean hotel with super friendly and efficient front desk staff in the heart of Barcelona city! Room and shower are in decent shape. It’s right off a main street with bus line and easy taxi. Best part is that you can walk to Rambla. Barcelona Cathedral and many other sites. Super convenient. Lots stores and restaurants nearby so you don’t have to eat at the hotel. Room is cleaned everyday without having to ask (unlike hotels in US). We are very pleased with the 7-day stay with reasonable price and quality. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to visit Barcelona!

The hotel is very well situated with many transportation options and many places to eat nearby. Excellent service. Didn’t have the breakfast but there is coffee or tea available all day.
The only negative thing is that because it is an old building, although renovated, you hear a lot of noise like doors closing and furniture moving from other floors

Cons: no peep holes (which I dont reccomend for women who are alone) the room i was in had one window but not in the bedroom area. It was in an empty backroom which I guess can be used as a luggage storage. The problem with this that the window faces other hotel windows in a circle like fashion. This set up allows no natural light to get in or fresh air. It honestly felt like a jail to me. Also without the sun to let me know it was morning I would often sleep in due to jet lag from nyc. There were many days I just stayed in because not being able to see outside I wasnt motivated to go anywhere and just slept.
Pros: great staff, clean room.

I highly recommend Hotel Via Augusta! I am always worried about cleanliness, but the hotel was very clean! Everything was great! The staff were all very kind and helpful! They have free tea and coffee and hot chocolate available to you after breakfast is served, It's in a good location. We felt safe. If you are a walker, then you can walk to some sights. We walked to Park Guell; it was 30 minutes uphill but doable. We utilized buses as well. I definitely recommend!

Desafortunadamente mi check-out fue una muy mala experiencia. Necesitaba ayuda con un taxi (porque mi Uber programado canceló de último minuto) para llegar a tiempo a mi tren rumbo a Madrid y el dueño estaba atendiendo el front desk. Él fue despectivo y usaba un tono grosero conmigo a pesar de ver mi frustración y urgencia. Lo más decepcionante era ver que a los otros huéspedes los trataba con amabilidad… tuve que correr y buscar otro medio de transporte por mi cuenta porque no me ayudaron.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, excellent location too. The lobby was modern and aesthetically pleasing, the room smelt lovely and most staff were friendly.

We had a lovely stay until checkout where the man was very rude and not helpful, we had been told if we got the smaller breakfast (croissant and a drink or toast and a drink) it would be cheaper around 4.50 euros but they charged my friend full price, 11 euros and blamed it on us, when no instructions were given that we had to tell staff at breakfast which one we'd gotten or asked what breakfast we had. The man at checkout was extremely rude and refused to charge my friend the lower price and said it was our fault. So be careful if you stay and want the cheaper breakfast.

If it wasn't for the bad checkout experience we would have given the hotel a 5 star experience.

Nice room but much smaller than shown on the picture and you could not open the window without the neighbours looking at you from the backyard (the view is not nice either) and it is super noisy as well. On arrival I was told breakfast is included which apparently wasn't and I was charged additionally. Which I don't mind as long as it's communicated clearly. At the checkout the staff at the desk made a racist comment about Germans which I didn't like at all.

This hotel reminds me of places my parents would take me on a family vacation. The lobby is lovely and the staff friendly and helpful. It's in a nice part of the city, near public transport, plenty of available taxis, and walkable. The room itself just didn't really wow me. I was happy that it's newly renovated, with keycard electricity, and nice views. It was good for resting; it's a quiet neighborhood, the bedding was comfortable and the windows had blackout curtains. Other than that, the towels were really rough, the bathroom didn't have tissues or soap, the walls were thin, and - worst of all - there was only one electrical outlet in the entire room to charge cell phones.

Great reception staff. Easy access to metro and walk to Sagrada Familia (20 minutes). Corner store close by. Room was okay but reading lights would be nice. Had to read my book by flashlight as others were asleep and room lights were very bright. Please install LED bedside reading lights! Most hotels have them.

Overall, we had a good experience at Hotel Via Augusta during our 2-night stay, and recommend it to others. The staff is fantastic and the Gracia neighborhood is a great location to stay and visit. It is very convenient for shopping, restaurants, sightseeing and access to Metro to other areas. Also, the walking distance to most of Barcelona’s tourist sites in other neighborhoods is less than 30 minutes. The hotel is a older building, but interior was recently renovated and exterior was under renovation. The breakfast is good with a nice variety to choose from. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, but only had a power outlet on one side of one bed (and in bathroom), which was not convenient for 3 guests to use.

The hotel is a short walk to a subway station to get downtown, the area is safe with a bit of bars and restaurants around and the staff were friendly, the room left a lot to be desired, the wifi was terrible at times couldn’t get on it, the shower had a half glass so if you took a shower for more then 5 minutes the bathroom floor was soaked with water, the A/C did work well though. It seems to be an older hotel so needs a bit work done in the rooms and fix the wifi it is 2019

The room had a strange funky odor that bothered us in our stay. Even though the room was cleaned, the smell still remained. Not good. It was clear the room was not thoroughly cleaned.
The air conditioning also did not work on one day. As a result we had to open the window.
The property was also under construction and there were loud noises that could be heard all throughout the building.
The staff was nice.

The first impression was not good because the lobby was realy tiny almost non-existent, it looks like a part of it was clsed for remodeling. But the girl behind the front desk was very welcoming, she even provided an early check-in which was very much appreciated after a 9 hours flight. Metro station is next door, very convenient

Single room was just the right size for what I needed. Also the view was pretty great from the 9th floor. The walls are thin so to be honest you can hear everything from your neighbors and outside of course. But this is to be expected in older buildings and only slightly bothersome if you are trying the sleep and your neighbors are having a party. Of course the hotel staff can address this. :) Other than that my stay was perfect and wonderful and I would definitely stay here again!!!

The staff are excellent. The premises, including the room, is clean and modern looking. Standard rooms are on the small side, so if you have more than one suitcase consider a larger room. The breakfast is worth the 9 euros. The hotel is 5 minutes from the metro, and it is very easy to get to/from the central train station. You can also get to/from the airport with one metro line change easily, though allow for a minimum of an hour to get there. The hotel is not centrally located, but if you go out the hotel's front door and walk a couple of blocks you will come to a vibrant neighbourhood full of restaurants and shops where residents live.

The hotel staff are so very friendly and helpful. The hotel is clean and modern, and the breakfast is worth the 9 euros. We chose the location to stay away fro the freneticism of Las Ramblas and had quiet nights sleep. While it is 5 minutes away fro the easy to use metro, and a direct connection to the trains, there are not a ton of restaurants near by so if you like the night life either use the metro or think about something closer to hipster areas. Pay attention to room size, we found standard just a wee bit small and would choose a larger room next time. Very fair value.
