Chose a different area of town (stayed at Shinjuku area earlier) and glad we have a more laid back vibe. Area os 1 stop on train to ikebukuro (or walk about 25 min) which my 18 year old really enjoyed for anime.

There is not much staff can do as the hotel is always on high occupancy, it just need to have a good maintenance . Would suggest other new opening hotel in the area.

Clever loft bed design with lots of storage makes this room feel a lot larger than it was. Slept 2 adults and a child very comfortably. Area was very convenient as it was on the Yamamote Line and lots of restaurants close by. Enjoyed that it wasn't too busy in the area.

Staff and amenities at the hotel are excellent. Beautiful rooms. My kids loved the loft bed. Very comfortable beds, and AC worked very well. It's clean, modern and well appointed. Privacy blinds in the room which was nice. Bathroom really nice with a separate shower room. Just be careful because the clearance for the low bed is low so you do need to duck if you are over 5'7\". I'm 5'9\" so it's a little tight, but nothing to complain about if you are careful.
The breakfast was excellent. Various risotto's for breakfast, which was unique. A little more variety would have been nice, but it was still good. You only have the choice of around 5 breakfast options, 4 of which are risotto. They were really good though. My kids loved the chill vibe of the lobby and dining area.

Beautiful, trendy hotel that has the most perfection location! Just 2 minute walk from the train station that is one stop from Ikebukuro. This place is perfect! The family room layout is also an incredible efficient use of space. We loved staying here so much! Away from the hustle and bustle yet close enough to everything.

What a cool hotel. Easy access to train station to get around Tokyo. The whole setup was great, reception and bar and then ten room was a great use of skace based on a traditional Japanese set up!

We enjoyed our stay at OMO5 Otsuka. Breakfast was good. The rooms were clean and carefully designed to optimise the space. However, the loft space would make it hard for tall people to be comfortable. We stand about 165-170cm, and could just stand up underneath the loft space, but still had to duck under the beams.

I booked this hotel for its look and larger space. It looks just like pictures. The tatami type thick futon mats in the loft area were so comfortable for sleeping and it was nice feeling like you were going into a separate space for nighttime. The layout of the room is great too, with the toilet, shower and sink all separate. And there's room for luggage. If your observation about Japan having small hotel rooms bothers you, this is a great place!

For English speakers, you might have trouble at the front desk conversing, but I got my issue sorted still and it worked out. I do wish they provided room slippers.

Love the aesthetics of this hotel and the dining options in its surrounding area. There are four convenience stores very close to the hotel and there is even a 24-hour Japanese bookstore! The room is super cute and the mattress is very comfortable. Highly recommend!

The staff were extremely friendly and the hotel was stylish, clean. The rooms were well equipped and the bar area laid back. The neighbourhood was quieter than surrounding areas but that was a good thing at the end of a busy day. The station a couple of minutes away connects you to all areas easily. Highly recommended.

My favorite hotel of this trip. We stayed at Tokyo Metropolitan Hotel in Ikebukuro and Almond Hotel Nippori but OMO 5 is my favorite. I enjoyed the quiet city away from over tourist in Shinjuku and Shinjuku, where give me more stress then relaxation. Yet the location is very convenient. 6 mins walk from JR Yamamoto Line and 20 mins to Shinjuku.

It is good for the price you pay. The location is a bit far to the main areas in Tokyo - 30-40 minutes by train. There are some nice restaurants in the area.
A lot of the hotels we’ve stayed in Tokyo offered free drinks and pastries in the morning, here nothing is for free but I guess the rooms are cheaper than other hotels so it makes sense. The tv is really old and unfortunately you can watch Netflix or any other streaming channel on your tv and there’s only Japanese channels.

Super friendly and helpful staff, very clean room, super comfortable sleeping arrangements, and an amazing shower/bath! All around, extremely satisfied. If I return to Ikebukuro anytime soon, it is extremely likely that I will stay at OMO5 again! Highly recommended!

This was probably the funnest lodging my friends and I stayed in, it’s a very unconventional room layout with the loft and the couch bed and as really cool and the staff was super nice and convenient with answers to questions. Highly recommend staying here if you stay in Otsuka or just need a nice place at an affordable price.

This hotel is over rated, it is unclean and the service is below par. Basics such as luggage storage, slippers are not provided, even upon requested was rejected for luggage storage for 1 night. I ended up booked the extra night just to keep our luggages in the room when we headed to Mount Fuji. The double deck design is interesting but not practical, even for our family that are fairly short, we almost hit our head every time and the upper level is difficult to get it and out without hitting once or twice. I will definitely avoid this hotel!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! The layout of the YAGURA room was really cool. I've never seen a hotel room like this before, and it utilized the space really well. With two mattresses in the upstairs loft area and a large day bed in the main area, this was perfect for our group of three. The front desk staff were friendly and incredibly helpful, answering all of our questions and assisting in shipping our luggage to our next destination in Kyoto. Breakfast was delicious, with several different options that can cater to any taste. The kitchen staff were also really friendly! The only minor complaint that I have is the laundry area. There are only two washers and dryers, and they get full quickly at night. We had to wait in the small room to ensure that we got our clothes washed (it didn't help that one rude guest left their clothes in the washer for over half an hour). If you need to do laundry, I recommend doing it in the middle of the day if possible, since most of your fellow tourists will be out and about. Other than that, everything else was fantastic. Would be delighted to stay here again in the future. Thank you for taking good care of us!

We really enjoyed our stay at the OMO5, the location is fantastic easy access to the station and plenty of dining options around. The laundry in the building was super helpful. The only issues we had was navigating the stairs from the bedroom down to the bathroom at night are super sketchy. We were far too jet lagged to handle that safely.

Good value hotel in a convenient location very close to Otsuka station. The room was clean, modern and well-designed and makes clever use of space. Disappointing that although there is a kettle in the room no tea or coffee are provided. The split-level arrangement in which the sleeping platform is directly above the living area and accessed by a short flight of steps may not work for people who are tall or have mobility problems. The rooms were lovely and very comfortable. The space is small but the design makes it feel big. This was a gem off the beaten path. It was fun exploring the local restaurants in the neighborhood. We enjoyed our ranger tour as well. The hotel is also very convenient to the JR line and very easy to get around. Highly recommend and would stay here again!

Having high hopes as this is run by the infamous Hoshino resort we were left with some disappointments.
Our luggage was not already in our room when we used the luggage forwarding service, in our previous experience when staying with other Japanese hotels the luggage are always already in the room waiting for us.
Amenities were minimum and you would need to pretty much pay for everything which are otherwise free at any other Japanese hotels.

It has a loft for 2 twin beds, feels like a hostel, but architecturally pleasing with the modern decor, bright color scheme and smart storage system on the feature wall. The hotel is very close to the station, with lots of small restaurants around. My friends and I enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to come.

This hotel was a great way to kick off our trip to Tokyo! It's a little outside the usual central tourist areas but very close to the subway so it was easy to get around. The property itself was amazing! Very charming and cute. The room was small but the design made great use of the space. We may have hit our heads once or twice on the lofted bed but otherwise it didn't feel cramped at all. Everything was clean and neat. We would definitely stay here again!

Convenient and very clean. Rooms were quiet and I could barely hear anyone in the hallways. Laundry was convenient. Wifi was good. I would stay here again if I were traveling alone (as I just did). FYI, the room layout was funky and fun, but the loft area is low for someone taller than 5'6\"--for tall people it is a little difficult to comfortably stand up move around freely (the room does have places where the ceiling height is not an issue, but is just limited). For me, however it was a cute hotel and I would definitely explore their other hotels for future trips.

Love this hotel cause it’s location:easy access to everywhere, friendly and helpful staffs. Room is cozy and love that they have the bunk bed! I saw a lot of online complaining about the bunk bed being so low , they keep bumping their head onto the bed frame, if you are more then 5foot 2. We did bump into it once or twice，but eventually, we remember, and or we don’t bump into anymore.

Unique hotel space with a loft bed and nice lounging area below. The amenities are amazing and thoughtfully designed, making good use of the small space. Otsuka is a great neighbourhood if you want somewhere located along the Yamanote line but away from the crowds of Shibuya and Shinjuku.
Word of caution, I'm around 1.7m and I keep smacking my head into the low beams, gotta be careful but you should be fine once you get used to the space.

Super location for exploring Tokyo. Only a block from the Otsuka JR train station. This opens up the entirety of the city with only a 5 minute walk. A large number of great restaurants, including a ramen shop with 1 Michelin star! The room was small by western standards, but this is not the west! Very clean and pleasant. Great bathroom[s] with Japanese setup, which you normally do not see in hotels. Toilet room separate from the shower room, and the shower room has both the shower area and a soaker tub. Breakfast was not my favourite since I like traditional Japanese breakfast. This was a western/Japanese fusion. The quality seems high, but I prefered to go across the street to Royal Host for a japanese set breakfast. I would definitely stay here again.
