It is not my first time to stay at this hotel, and not the last time for sure.

I had a nice stay here. It’s in a nice location where I could quickly rent bicycles or walk to the subway. It’s near plenty of dining options as well. The staff were always ready to help. Water pressure was good too.

Very convenient location only a couple of blocks from the Yamanote line on a not that busy station.
Very friendly staff. Offered complementary several bottles of water when arriving.

Highly recommended. I’ll consider this place in the future for when I visit Tokyo again!

The wifi was really bad. I felt like I was being thettled for internet. Which was frustrating because the staff was very kind. I felt as though sitting in the room was a prison because all I could do was sleep. I am not going to return because we had one key and crappy internet.

Smile Hotel Sugamo was the perfect stay for me. It had a comfortable single room, friendly and helpful staff, with convenience stores and a train station nearby. It was easy to travel about Tokyo and even Sugamo had a few nice spots to offer despite its quieter nature. I would highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

I have stayed at this hotel before and returned even though the price has gone through the roof for some strange reason. The water that guests used to receive daily from the maid was now locked in a machine for which guests were offered tokens and humiliated into going to reception to get water from a vending machine. The water bottles are now half the size!
People in rooms on the top floor smoked constantly and no staff did a thing about it.
When I placed my luggage with staff on the last day I was the only guest to be asked how long I intended to leave it there for.
Smile hotel is pretty good but prices are rising due to greed brought on by rampant tourism so I feel this may be my last trip but never say never.

여러 리뷰가 있어서 안 좋으면 어떡하지 하고 갔는데 괜한 생각했네요. 들어가는 골목이 좀 뭐지 했지만 호텔 내부나 서비스는 훌륭했어요! 히터가 잘 드니까 조절 잘하셔야 하는데 이틀째는 젖은 거 걸어놓고 자니까 딱 좋았어요.(빨래 잘 말림.ㅋ) 청소하시는 분들이 엄청 열심히 하시는 것 같아요. 깨끗하니 잘 잤어요. 역에 가깝고 바로 옆 편의점이라 불편함이 없었어요!

Before I start my review, I would like to say the staff was wonderful. My review is strictly only about the hotel and my stay itself, not about the staff. The WiFi was basically not even useable. It was always slow and disconnected itself multiple times. The desk was small with very little room to walk around for two people. I was not happy with the price I paid with the quality of the hotel.

Hotel staffs are friendly. Went there early to store my luggage and when I'm back from my sightseeing, my luggage was already in the room. You have to leave your key on the front desk each time you leave. Hotel is near the train station. Along the hotel street there are eateries. 24hr seiyu store where you can get most of the items. There is a nice sandwich shop just opp family mart. Sugamo shopping street ard 15 min walk. There's also KFC, BK and Mac nearby (near the main road). Room is nice and the rm corridor is wide and somewhat long enough for my 24\" luggage to open fully. Any bigger than 24\", I don't think you can open full. Air con is centralized. Means you can't control hot or cold air. It gets warm pretty fast even when setting is low. Luckily window can be open but not full (to let in cold air). Note there is a catch on the latch to release the lock when closing the window. It can be a little noisy at night if you open the window. Tub's height is low, which I liked. Unlike others hotel's tub, which is high, and I often trip myself when getting out of the tub. This hotel does daily cleaning. The cleaning time starts from 9am. I happen to stay on the top floor. Often find myself trying to get up early so cleaners can clean up my room.

The room is clean, but bathroom had a leak and extremely small. It is not safe in my opinion that you need to climb into the bathroom. No spout to fill the bathtub, and need to use the shower head to do it.

Cheap stay with all you need

All in all I liked this stay because it was fairly economical considering how expensive Japan can be. This hotel allows you to have your own space and gives you the basics you need to survive. It was a little annoying when the reception kept calling me at noon asking if I wanted my room cleaned (at midday) when I had my \"don't disturb\" sign up, however this was quite thoughtful. I think I would stay here again on balance though - thanks so much!

I really liked this hotel, it was really clean and the staff were very friendly. The room was perfect for one person and the hotel is only a couple minute walk from the Yamanote line. They never responded to my message asking if I could drop my bags off before check in, but when I showed up they let me check in early without me even asking. My only complaint is that the towels smelled weird, like dogs or cheese. I got a new towel every day and every single one was like that, but you can’t smell it until it’s wet.

First impressions: Just off the main drag in Sugamo, with a Family Mart next to it. In an effort to provide everything a customer might want, the hotel just wound up cluttering the room. (Cups, mugs, notepad, a dehumidifier, other machines which I'm not sure what they were, etc.) Also, the policy of turning in the key at the front desk before I leave is annoying; it feels like the hotel is babysitting me. ugh.

Up-side: The bed was comfortable. It seemed a bit too firm at first, but according to the Fitbit app, I slept like a log. (Then again, I was also recovering from a cold.)

Down-side: I couldn't plug my Switch into the TV. The bathtub was a bit slippery and the washlet....didn't shoot straight or something -- I'm not really sure what was wrong with it. But the bath towel was the joke of the trip: Old and thin as a dishrag, and frayed all around the edges.

Conclusion: If it's cheap on Saturday night then I suppose it's a step up from a capsule hotel.

I had a wonderful view of the sky tree from the room I had. The room had all the amenities I needed and the free water supplied each day was really appreciated! It was super easy to stop at a convenience store, there's two within a 5 min walk of the hotel. The train station is super close. I would happily stay at this hotel again.

Extremely clean and friendly staff. Great job cleaning the room everyday with bath robes, bottled water, and clean towels and slippers. It was easy to find and right by the train that takes you all over tokyo. The area has a great restaurants and convenient stores and seiyu (essentially walmart) is right down the street and open 24/7 and has everything you will need. Stayed with my wife and 1 year and was big enough for us all to share a bed. Looking for a great stay absolutely consider smile sugamo.

快適だけれど、ちょっとしたリクエストをしたい。

何度か利用させて頂いてます。
駅からもアクセスが良く、近くにコンビニスーパーもあるので便利です。

ただ、部屋にカーテンが無く、引き戸で閉めるので真っ暗な中眠りにつけるのは良いのですが、朝に部屋なけ換気をする様に引き戸を開けると、外部から見えてしまうし、着替える事が出来ないので、レースカーテンなど外部からの視線が入らないような設備を付けて欲しいなと思います。

あと、ホテル1階の入り口隣に中華屋がありますが、玄関近くでタバコを吸っているゲストがいるので、注意したり、喫煙所を設けるなどして欲しいです。

後は、問題も無く快適です。

I stayed at this hotel for around 27 nights. I cannot fault it. The location is great - One minute walk to Sugamo station. It is close to a supermarket and lots of dining options both Japanese and western.
The hotel staff were amazing. So friendly and always greeted me with a smile. There is a coin laundry and vending machines inside. The size is normal Japanese hotel room size. It also has a little nook where you can store clothes/small suitcase upright. I will definitely stay here again.

Okay place for the low price if you can tolerate humidity. Main problem is that the room never feels cool in summer and when you leave the room, all power shuts off, including the air conditioner. Either that or staff come in and turn off the AC unit (even worse!). I suspect the mini fridge power gets cut too but can't confirm. Also, the hotel and elevator and hallways are muggy/humid also! They won't turn on the AC!!! I ended up staying elsewhere for last few days of trip.

A 3-star hotel located in an excellent area. Near the Sugamo train station. A supermarket 50 meters from the hotel. The rooms are functional, not large, but provide all the necessary needs. Courteous staff, the room is clean and well-equipped, including utensils for coffee or tea. You can get a toothbrush free of charge in the hotel lobby. , hair brush, body creams, hair elastics, razors free of charge. My stay here is pleasant and I recommend the hotel. The value for the room and the service provided is higher than the cost of the room per night.

I really liked how close by it was to the station allowing us to travel out whenever we want and also a lot of the food options that were nearby. The staff was very friendly and helpful whenever we needed anything. Only downside was the pillow to the bed, it’s way too rock solid so it’s probably best to bring your own pillow. Overall, the hotel was enjoyable and a nice place to stay.

Overall it was okay, but there’s something needs to be desired.
First, the servants didn’t refill my tea bags.
Second, my shampoo was diluted after room service. It really bothered me when I found this in the shower. At that time the front desk was unable to send me a replacement so I had to pick it up myself. Bad experience:(

Good value for money

We stayed for four nights and were very happy the entire time. The staff on the front desk were extremely helpful and even helped us change up some of our larger notes when we first landed. The room was nice but nothing special, but was expected for the price. Overall a really great place in a good location, close to a central train station that took us almost everywhere we needed to go on the same line. We'd definitely stay here again if we were in Tokyo.

It's a huge plus that the hotel is only a 1 minute walk from Sugamo Station, which can get you to all the major areas in Tokyo within half an hour on the JR Yamanote Line. I don't know much Japanese but the staff were very accommodating and patient when checking me in. There's a Family Mart right next door to the hotel and a Seiyuu on the other side of the block too. Daily housekeeping by older ladies means a clean room in every spot is really nice. The only real downside I could think of is their Wi-Fi sometimes wasn't strong enough to load 1080p streams for me. But the cost per night was cheap so overall it's still amazing value for your money.

Amazing and cheap place to stay. Rooms are small and bathroom is as well but its enough for one person. Even though i don't know Japanese they were very accomodating of that as I used google translate and a variety of hand gestures. The station is close by, there's a Seiyuu that has about everything (just in case you forgot anything at home), and a good couple of Izakayas around. I definitely reccomend.

The room is a bit outdated, but very comfortable. Staffs are very helpful and thoughtful. They even prepared clean towel in lobby on rainy days. The area offers a lot of restaurants and a famous shopping street. And their Japanese style breakfast is a nice boost for every morning.

friendly staffs who could communicate in English, not that fluent but still understandable. Hotel location is quite good, in the middle of JR Sugamo sta. and Sugamo Subway but not so crowded. Famous restaurant in the area such as Gindaco Takoyaki Ball and Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ. Two department stores nearby, SEIYU Sugamo and Atrevie Sugamo. Lone and will stay here again next time!

good location, low security

1. close to jr station and metro station
2. dirt on table and also sticks on the fan in bathroom
3. key must be kept by staff when you go out, but it is easy to get the key as there is no authentication procedure
4. close to 24-hour super market and convenient store
5. friendly and helpful staff

Highly recommended!

The hotel is very near Sugamo Station and is accessible to the Yamanote line which makes it convenient for travelling to other parts of Tokyo. There are many eateries and shops found around the hotel for shopping purposes. The hotel room itself, although small, is just nice for two of us and make for a comfortable stay. Really recommend Smile Hotel and will come back to stay here again.
