First time staying in a hostel and overall a very pleasant stay. I booked a private room. It was clean, shower pressure was good and in a good central location - 10 minutes walk from ximen station. I was able to make new friends very quickly. Be prepared to carry your luggage from ground to first floor as lift starts from first floor. Also I would have preferred tea/ coffee facility in private room which was missing.

Very nice hostel, only thing lockers are tiny no point having them cant fit a backpack in there. Also whilst the mattress is very soft it is so thin its like sleeping straight on the wood. That being said would still stay again if I was in Taipei. Location also excellent

paint on the room wall is peeling off; loud traffic noise from outside of the building; can hear other visitors talking during night; very small, and it is very weird that staffs ask the visitors to change shoes to their slippers after arrival.

I paid $300+ a night for my family of 4; regret my choice the moment I stepped into the room.

Meander hostel has the best friendly staff who answered all my questions with useful info and quickly. It has the best Lobby area for social activities amongst residents who are mostly internationals. It is near the subway blue and green line in a 10 mins walk. It’s located in the famous Xiamen district therefore everywhere lots of happenings and Activities. Such as concert/ signing at the street. major stores are H&M, Adidas , Nike, etc

工作人員好快咁幫我完成check-in程序，意想不到嘅係工作人員會帶我遊酒店嘅環境。

工作人員10分友善，有任何問題都好快幫我解決。

地下一樓，有一個很大的公共空間，可以俾大家食飯，飲咖啡，或是認識新朋友。

本人覺得很新穎，因為好少旅客會用到這公共空間。但這裏的情形不一樣，很多人會利用這空間傾談，認識新朋友。

有時候我有點不知所措，因為有一啲住客太熱情，比較喜歡說話。

這裏很休閒，晚上10分寧靜，並沒有任何習性和噪音。隔音的設備不錯。

It’s our first experience at a hostel. The staff spoke English and are super helpful. The property is a little old but it is well-equipped with everything we need. The best part was the bunkbeds in private room with a bathroom. My teens no longer want to share a bed so we chose to stay at a hostel with bunkbeds so we each get a bed for ourselves. There were also board games and cards in the lobby. The hostel is close to the eateries and shops at Ximen district. We walked down a few blocks to the famous Yong He for soy milk and pancake before we left for an early flight. It was a wonderful experience for the family.

Biggest issues for were the clogged drains in the shower cubicle. The cubicle floods within like 30 seconds of using the shower. Disgusting!!!

Then there is the problem with the tap. One 3 occasions during my 3 days stay, there was no water coming out of the taps?! Like there is a VERY serious water pressure or water supply issue - which very strangely doesn’t affect the showers.

And this hostel doesn’t provide free towels. I get the part on not providing toothpaste, toothbrushes and shavers - but not providing towels is really being very stingy. And please, it’s not being “environmentally friendly”, it’s just cost saving in disguise.

The location is decent though it is a long walk to the mrt station if you are dragging a luggage. But really, this hostel is in dire need of a thorough renovation - especially its plumbing and drainage!

Everything was great here. The breakfast was good, the staff were very helpful and it is close by to Ximen station. The women’s washroom was big and they had shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer and other small amenities. Beds were very comfortable and there is a locker to store items. If I’m ever in Taipei again I may stay here again

all staff were friendly, nice smile and helpful.They were all really good in English, Japanese and good speaking in Korean too. I share one room with my friend. the bed was comfortable and toilet very clean ( have provide shower foam, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer ).Towels like hotel provide very clean. if anything you need or tools can ask their staff help you too, but have additional charge for the tools like toothbrush. Breakfast provided from 8am to 10am, simple and nice ( sweet potato porridge, oatmeal, breads, fruits, instant coffee and tea ).Location nearby about from Ximen MRT (walk about 10min).
I only can said is nice and good. if you like to meet a lots new friends. i think here Meander Taipei Hostel is the better for you to stay. i give 5 star out of 5 star

The staff were friendly and helpful. They were all really good in English and I also heard some of them speaking in Korean, Japanese and French. I stayed in the 8-bed female dorm. The bed was comfy and it's great that they provide 2 USB ports on top of the normal electrical ports, so you can directly charge your electronics with just your cable. Both the toilet and bathroom has 3 cubicles each that served the entire floor of I think 4-5 dorm rooms. I never had to wait to use either. The bathroom is stocked with the necessary and a little more (shower foam, shampoo, conditioner, hair dryer, moisturizer and a few other vanity kit stuff). Towels and toothbrush can be rent/bought at the front desk, if you do not want to pay then remember to bring your own! One thing I disliked was there wasn't any hand soap available at the toilet sink. Breakfast provided was the same for the whole week I was there. It compromised of sweet potato porridge, oatmeal, breads, fruits, instant coffee and tea. Nothing fancy, so you are better off walking down the road to the many breakfast joints for breakfast. The property is located about a 10+ minute walk from Ximen MRT and there are many bus stops in the vicinity. There is an elevator located in the property but it only starts on the 2nd floor, so it's a little hard to carry the luggage down (especially when checking out and luggage is full).

My friends and I were supposed to stay in Meander Hostel for 6 days, but we ended up transferring to a hotel in the middle of our trip despite the payment we'd already made. The room was so HUMID to a point that all our pajamas were WET when we came back to the hostel at night. There were mosquitoes in the room as well. I complained to the staff and the only reply I got was that they would take a look at it. We were very disappointed - my suggestion for people who want to book a private room with bathroom in this hostel is to GO LIVE IN A HOTEL, this hostel is not worth the money. The price difference between a hotel and the hostel is not that big and you will get a much better experience living in a hotel.

The staffs in Meander are amazing and the level of service was fantastic. It got to a point where it felt that they were not just staff but friends.

Check-in was a breeze and the information was clearly explained. The location of the hostel might be a bit of a walk from Ximen Station, but it is not an issue. It made me know the neighbourhood a lot better, and brought me to places not just at the central of Ximending.

The space is very clean and I love that there is a platform in the capsule bed. It allows me to unpack some of my essential stuff onto the platform. The curtains helps with privacy and there're locker to keep important things. Toilet is clean. Hot water, soap and shampoo are all provided.

On top of these facilities, they have daily activities and it creates perfect opportunities to get to know Taiwan and other travelers.

Will highly recommended this hostel!

The Staff here were absolutely superb. I was blown away by their level of service when i arrived. Also, they had so much useful information on how to make the best out of your trip in Taipei, be it food or sights. Facilities was good, location requires a bit of walking but it wasn't that big of a problem. Sheets were fresh and they smelt clean. One thing is that the area around the beds do require some attention, there was quite a bit of dust and gunk. They had a strong rain shower that worked excellent too!

However, it was still a great experience! Another shout-out to the exceptional level of service!

There is a very large area for socializing, and the rooms are located kind of by a side entrance on other floors, so one may socialize, or keep to himself / herself if preferred.This was a nice plus. All beds have curtains to allow for privacy, and the shared bathroom facilities are rather nice. Would stay again next time I am in Taipei.

One of the top hostels ever

Now that I've checked into another hostel at my next destination, I have a new appreciation for how great Meander was. I've been traveling for 7 months and it's RARE That you look forward to returning to your hostel at the end of the day. Unfortunately I usually try to avoid spending time at my hostel. Reasons you should stay at Meander:
- The way the beds are set up with curtains and your own shelf and personal lighting is so cool! You have as much privacy as you want and can still sleep when others need the light on in the room.
- They take security seriously with key card entry everywhere, including for your own locker!
- The ground floor common space is probably the largest, best designed hostel space I've ever seen. It really cultivates a social atmosphere.
- All the amenities you need: laundry, big nice clean kitchen, shared computers, shared books
- The bathrooms are AWESOME. Great showers with good pressure and hot water, and plenty of space to change afterwards.
- Breakfast included. It's not the best, but hey it's free. Including coffee would be a nice touch.
- Staff was so great!

The only 'miss' during my stay was that on Sunday morning the cleaning staff came into the room in the morning while people were still sleeping to start changing some of the other beds. They left the door open and made a lot of noise, which was annoying since it was even before the check-out time and a lot of us had gone out Saturday night and were tired. Not a big deal though!

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed at. 5-7min from Ximen station, great location, close by so many shops and food choices. I stayed in both the single rooms (Japanese style, LOVE) and female dorm (super spacious and clean well designed). Common area is very conducive to meeting new people and hanging out. Most importantly the staff are great -- do the Ximen food tour with Nikki -- she's great!

Loved my stay so much I extended by one night. Will definitely be back. Thank you Meander!

Fantastic experience

This was my first time staying at a hostel, so I was nervous, but after my time at Meander, I would gladly return. Sunny, the receptionist, made me feel comfortable. She gave me a tour of Meander and pointed out how things worked.

My 4-person room (606) was spacious, clean, and felt new. The in-room locker is big enough for a laptop but was not big enough for my backpack. There were three locks between the lobby and my room: one leading to the stairwell, one from the stairwell to a corridor of Meander rooms/bathrooms/showers, and one from that corridor to the room. All three doors and the locker were RFID. My bunk had a light, power outlet, and small shelf; the bunk's curtain was thick and blocked light well. If I remember right, the mattress was somewhat thin foam. It was fine once I was lying down but when crawling around I could feel the underlying wood.

I think the most unique/useful (at least among hostels I stayed at on this trip; nobody else had this) part about Meander was the attraction board, listing 20 things to do in the area/day trips. Not only were they marked on a map, there were descriptions, travel instructions, and things to look out for. There was also a daily activity board - I don't think Meander ran most of the activities, but it was nice to have pointers to things to do.

Many of my fellow hostelers seemed to be Westerners.

My favorite hostel so far

I am blown away. Meander is probably one of my favorite hostels ive stayed in. Its close enough to ximending station without being in the thick of the craziness. Facilities were very clean and the common room is huge which made it great for meeting new people. Hostel workers such as Bonnie, Wendy, Claire, Lynn, Yi-an, Yung, Sarah and Nikki went above and beyond when I needed help and their so much fun to talk to. The staff is all so very knowledgeable and know the best places to eat and visit. Without them the trip to taiwan wouldnt have been complete!

Amazing hotel to know other travellers and socialise. I receive a very welcome from Nikki as soon as I stepped in the hostel. She is genuinely nice and friendly when showing the hostel facilities. couldn't resist and joined the temple tour as Nikki was the guide. awesome !!

Amazing stay

I really enjoyed my stay for 3 reasons:
1. The facility is modern and spacious and features an awesome common area that enabled me to either get work done at a desk/table or meet other travelers.
2. The hotel staff was friendly and professional. This was evident from check in (they give a great overview and walk you to room) and through many service requests (How do I get to train at 5am? How to order pizza delivered to hostel?).
3. They offer many free tours. I joined a very cool \"CnN\" bike tour led by Claire \"n\" Nikki. We cycled through downtown, along a river at sunset, to the top of a tower, and dropped off the bikes and had dinner in a cool night market. A highlight of my week.

Very service oriented. I just met the cleaner at 2:00 in the morning, emptying the trash from the toilets. It was unexpected wonderful surprise to see the facilities so clean and organized. The shower rooms, toilets look so clean and new. Amenities even include the extras like the buds, cotton pads, sanitary pads. The dining areas are cozy. There are game table n dartboard and big screen for entertainment. People are so friendly in such a happy environment .Positive energy abound. I paid for a shared 8 ladies dorm and got a 4star facility!

Hostel location was good (in the prime area of Taipei), though it was about a 10 minute walk from the train station.
We stayed on the 4th floor, but oddly, the lift only serves from the second floor onwards, hence we had to lug our luggage up.
The first floor had a chill vibe and there were foosball, beanbags, and darts to make us feel more at home. It was a good place for travellers to mingle and interact.
Our room was a 8 bedder dorm, and the room could have been bigger for 8 people. If everyone had a luggage, it would have been cramped. Lucky for us, 3/4 nights there was no one sharing the room with us.
The shared bathroom was clean as well and shampoo and conditioner are provided in each shower cubicle.
Receptionists were friendly and answered our queries. I guess the bonus for English travellers are that they know basic English, which would help in communication.

Nice location for budget short stay.

Nice hostel with unique environment in a very easy location, which just 10-15mins walk to metro. Staffs are friendly, room is tidy and clean, bed in comfort condition. Highly recommend to backpackers who looking for good stay in limited budget :)

I have rated the hotel so I will not further talk about the facilities.

But I would like to say that I see a very good hostel with a heart warm environment. The success of this hostel relies on respect and cooperation of residents. It is glad to see how all people operates to create a good place.

The common area you will find it useful as it provides many basic information in Taiwan. It also provides computers, books for gathering information. I recommend for those who have no experience in visiting Taiwan.

Fantastic lobby, not-so-fantastic room

Overall, It was a great stay; clean, vibrant, and located in a wonderful shopping district. However, just a couple of things raised some slight concerns. The rooms were a little too hot during summer nights, with the hostel capping the temperature and not allowing it to go any cooler. Also, the room smells of damp clothes, but I suppose that is the fault of the long-term-occupant, and not the hostel.

Great common space. Super clean.

The stay was wonderful. Staff were friendly and the common space is excellent. As it's a hostel, the common space is a little noisy at night simply due the volume of young people there. The rooms were quiet despite the louder than normal noise in the common were. Internet is fast (youtube video fast) between 11am->8pm, mornings and evenings have really slow (can't load Email) internet because so many users at the guesthouse are online. The bathroom is very very clean. Please note that when in dormitory, AC is only available from around 5pm to 10am. If you like to stay in the room after 10am and requires AC, best go to the common area.

Need to bring your own bath towel for showering. Shared a bunk bed room with about 5 other people. No elevators in building so climb to the 6th floor was tiring. Very cheap but you get what you pay for. Location has a lot of shops restaurants around it, but it is 10 min walk to the subway. Downstairs lounge is great, foosball, laundry, tv etc

comfort and clean!!!

Easy location, not far from the MRT station. Staff are lovely & helpful & the place is very clean and beds are super comfy! Laundry service was very convenient considering we were in mid of a backpacking trip. Although the dryer takes a few rounds to dry so maybe don't leave laundry til the very last min.

Highly recommend this hostel :-)
