The staff wasn’t very welcoming when I checked in. Definitely felt like she was tired of her job and didn’t want to be there. The WiFi was not good. I had zoom meetings that I couldn’t join because of how slow the WiFi was. The community space was just a covered rooftop area. In the images, it didn’t look like it was in an open rooftop. I ended up leaving a day early. Mainly because I had meetings the next day that I knew I couldn’t join due to the poor WiFi. I would not recommend this hotel, or stay here again.

It was a very small room but you get what you pay for. I wish there were more hooks for the towels and we were given hand soap. Other than that, the place was great to stay at when visiting the Taipei area. I would stay there again.

The room was clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bathroom looks like it had been recently renovated (great shower). The area around the hotel was fun and right in the middle of shopping, dining, and drinking places.

Definitely a hostel, but modern and very clean.

This is a very basic hostel setup, not really a hotel at all. My single room was miniscule with a narrow single bed, as one would expect for this type of accommodation. But that said, every part of the building from my room to the shared showers and toilets to the kitchen and social area at the top floor were all spotless, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. For the very small price I paid at the last minute when major hotels across the city were charging 10-15 times that price for a standard room, I think I got decent enough value.

Really convenient location with 7-11 just around the corner, perfect!
One thing not so convenient was they only have female bathroom on 2nd floor and male bathroom on 3rd floor, which means if you stay in different floor, you will have to go up and down the stairs for bathroom.

Excellent location, decent share bathroom and single room. Nice bed and the housekeeping are good. Hotel also will loan you travel weight scale and masking tape upon request. The root top provide you a good resting place while waiting for laundry to complete (wash + dry ard NTW900). staff is good and this hotel is much better than the nearby hotels. The single guest also well manner and not many people in the toilet even though it is full house. The shower pressure is good and the hotel is well lighted. Dedicated shower room and toilet for female (level 2) and you can only access with the room key card. I will definitely return again. highly recommended

I bookes double room. Room is smaller than that was shown in picture. I have 2 luggages with 20 inch size, there is no space to fully open my luggages. The amentity were not fully refill on next day, i have to ask front desk for water bottles. Bt the way, front desk service is good, and support when you ask, Overall disappoint on roon size.

I first stayed at ColorMix in 2011, I think shortly after it opened, and I had a really great experience there. I enjoyed it so much that it was the only place I considered staying on my return trip to Taipei. Unfortunately, I was not as happy with my stay this time around. When checking in, the staff was not rude, but they were not overly pleasant or friendly either. One reason I liked this hotel is because the decorating is really cool from the numbers on the doors to the tiles in the bathrooms (everything is color themed as can be seen in the pictures on the website). I was quite shocked to learn that my room was in a completely separate building. My room was just a basic room with no interesting decorating, so that was disappointing. It was very clean, just not special. Although not very friendly, the staff was willing to keep my luggage before I checked in and after I checked out, so that was nice. It is also very conveniently located near Ximen station. I am not saying that I wouldn't stay here again, but next time I might look around some more for alternative accommodation.

Everything else was great but i just think that my room layout was abit off. The stairs to my bed takes up a lot of space and it could have easily been a ladder up to the bed. The stairs area could have been a eating table. But other than that good stay 👍

The room that I was assigned to was dirty and has a stench. The drawer containing the sink was broken. Wall has a handprint (?!). Because it was located next to the road and a club/bar across the street, it was noisy at night.

Awesome Stay!

I had an awesome stay at ColorMix Hotel & Hostel. The room is small but sufficient for solo traveler like me. Justifiable with the price you're paying and the location.The hotel is very close to train station (Ximenting Station) and around 10 minutes walk. The hotel using sharing bathroom concept and the bathrooms and toilets are clean. Shower gel, shampoo, hair dryer, and disposable shaver is provided in the bathroom. The room is clean. Overall, an awesome stay and will return again. Keep up the good work!

Second visit to the hostel. Like the open air top level dining area. Comes with laundry machines that is affordable. The only complaint is my room as the sound socket to the TV wasn't working, and being right beside the shower room there's a lot of running water noise permeating through the walls

Good location. Friendly staff. The room is a bit too small. Poor sound isolation (I can easily hear others walk by, enter/exit the shared bathroom).
Female rooms are on the 2nd floor, while male rooms are on the 3rd floor. There's no elevator inside the building. While I don't mind taking the stairs, it has no handrail! It's actually quite dangerous especially carrying luggage downstairs. I would strongly recommend they install handrail before accident occurs.

Nice hotel with nice service

We stay at Comfort Quadruple room. This room has 2 floors separate between living room and bedroom. We have many spaces to open our luggages and packing. Someone maybe don’t like this room because there is no window but we are ok about this.
There is a staff who can speak Thai and it made us convenience to communicate with him. He allow us early check in and keep our luggages during we stay at other city 2 nights. After check out we can leave the luggages at hotel and come to packing after shopping.
Location is good, not far from MRT Ximen exit 1 and exit 6. Both exits have escalator and there is elevator at exit 6 also. It make convenience for people who travel with big luggage. Moreover there is convenience store (7-11) near this hotel.

Amazing location and team!

The hotel is located in one of the most populated and desired locations in Taipei. Right near Ximen MRT, you'll have easy access to all the major tourist destination through their transit system, not to mention being right beside Ximending, one of the main tourist shopping spots in the city.

The hotel staff was super friendly and courtesy. Definitely 5-star customer service.

Good budget choice

Small room, but high ceiling so it felt larger. Desk looked like it folded down for more space. TV (headphones only, no speakers), AC, a chair, and a trashcan rounded out the amenities. Common bathroom only. No elevator, stairs only. The rooms and building felt clean. For the price, I'm happy and would stay here again.

My room AC dripped when on, I had to strategically position a towel under it to absorb the water and noise from the drip. I mentioned it to the receptionist, who made it sound like this was an off-and-on problem with the room.

ColorMix will hold your luggage, but it's just in the open by reception, no security or verification of ownership.

Reception was friendly, helpful, and spoke a good amount of English, but I managed to confuse them when I asked if there was a snow ice place nearby; they didn't know the word. They were good humored about it as I struggled to come up with the Chinese name for the dish, which took me a couple tries, and supplied me with directions even though it was out of season (they also gave a recommendation for what they thought would be a better choice, but their suggested shop had no English menus).

Nice and clean hotel in the nice area.

The room is not big, but very clean. It is a hostel with everything I need. I spent two days in Taipei and didn't have much time to stay in the hotel room. Considering the price and the neighborhood, this is a really good place to stay.

Checkin and checkout were very simple. They even offered me a chance to take a shower in the afternoon for free after I checked out in the early morning

Put up in a room on level 2 that has a window and a part of the wall was in a happy yellow hue. Hot and cold water dispenser just outside my room.

Room and bedding are spotlessly clean. Thanks to the management and considerate fellow travellers, the lavatory and shower rooms are always clean.

Staff are friendly and helpful.

Several breakfast places along the main street. The Red house and Mrt exit 1 is just a minute or less walk away. 7-11, Family mart, Cosmed, Watsons are very near.

A place that I'll be happy to visit again.

Good for what it is.

The rooms are small as described. They do not have moving air when you are not in the room and compounded with the lack of ventilation and small space the room smelled like wet feet the entire time I was there. There was hair on the floor and sheets upon checkin. The shower room and bathrooms were clean. The staff ranged from uncommunicable English to good English. I paid 25USD per night and what I got was worth the price. If I paid 50USD per night I would have been disappointed. If you expectations are that of a 18USD hostel with a private room you will not be disappointed.

Great experience.

Hotel is just located at 4 minutes walk away from Ximending station. There's 7eleven, COSMED, breakfast place that serves awesome rice dumpling and fish ball soup, yummy and nourishing hotpot restaurant, just a stone throw away, there is even a self service laundry shop downstairs. Very convenient and also near to the shopping district in Ximending. Bed is comfy there's WiFi provided, service is great and staffs are very friendly and helpful. Would recommend and definitely go back again!

We were utterly disappointed. We stayed at this hotel 2 years ago and we really liked the loft design of its double room, hence we decided to come back to this hotel again during this trip. While booking on hotels.com, we chose the loft design double room (clearly shown on the pictures), but when we arrived, we were given a double room that is located in a doggy building, opposite the hotel. The room was tiny, the bed was very soft and uncomfortable. Not forgetting the poor design of the room, with an opaque window dividing the room and the toilet, and sunlight came right through from the toilet to the room, as early as 6am. We couldn't really sleep well because of that. We felt cheated and we will never return again. Not recommended for such dishonesty on the website.

Situated in the middle of bustling ximending, it is only 7 minutes walk from ximen station exit 1. There are lots of places to eat and this is also near Fong Da a famous local taiwanese coffee shop.

The rooms are clean, the shared t&b are well stocked with toiletries and is also well maintained.

The hotel wasn't that hard to locate if you have done a good research. Anyway, the hotel once we entered, it was not big but just good enough for 2 person. The room was cozily furnished with a clean double bed, sofa, and a small table, and came with a dryer, electric kettle and cups. There was enough room to open my luggage on the floor and still have enough space to walk around comfortably.

The toilet was also clean and has a shower cubicle. There is also cable television.

I was in Taipei for only two nights and stayed in the small private room. It was small but I didn't mind because I had only 1 suitcase. Bathroom and shower areas were always clean and required a room card. Wifi was fast, A/C worked well in the summer heat and location is around a lot of good bars and shops. The staff was always very friendly and really helpful, especially the guy during the day (forget his name), he gave a lot of good recommendations and help with getting back to the airport.

The entrance for the hotel a bit deep inside am where not easy for local taxi to find it as well. The hotel provide the free washing machine and paid dryer.

Amazing Find in the Middle of Ximending

When you consider this place is really supposed to be a hostel you cannot help but be amazed how well equipped it is. The staff is helpful, the room is a bit small but very comfortable. Do ask for a room with window if you are claustrophobic. It is close to the subway, in the middle of the nightlife district, and 1 stop away from the main train station. This place is a superb choice if you want no frills comfort at an incredibly affordable rate.

I booked the hotel in Expedia and stayed for seven nights in this hotel. Although the room was not really big but it was tidy, comfortable and clean enough for us which made a wonderful experience. Location is convenient because it is very close to the town which only 5 minutes of walking distance. There are seven-eleven and other convenient store nearby for us.

Staffs there are friendly to serve us, providing useful information for travel and giving warm service to us. I am a vegetarian, when I ask about vegetarian food around this area, the staff even google and print out a map marked with a few vegetarian restaurant for me, provide us direction on how to get there. The staff also giving suggestion to us on destination we may visit to and information about it.

Facilities are complete in this hotel. They even provide a big bottle of shampoo, toothbrush and tissue paper in it. There is a cleaner came to clean our room every morning and replace tissue paper, drinking water and mixed coffee for our room. The room also completed with a safety lock, refrigerator, kettle and hair dryer which are very useful along the day we stay in this hotel. However the colour of television was not sharp. Hotel also have laundry service available which could be very important for us as we did not bring enough clothes there in order to lighten up our luggage.

The room need to be checked out on 11am morning. Therefore we kept our luggage and belonging there for afternoon before depart to airpor

It took awhile to find, tucked away in a small lane. The place is 5 mins of walking from Ximending. Room size is tiny, and so is the bathroom. We went in winter, so naturally the water started off icy but took very very long to warm up. Poor insulation - it was very cold at night, even with the aircon off and wearing thermal wear. Walls are thin, so for light sleepers, bring earplugs. Plus points: free wifi, as well as washing machine. Dryer can be used for a small fee.

Consider a good choice

A good choice with the room rate. About 3-4mins walk to Ximending shopping area.
Room size may be small, but acceptable. They did mentioned that, if we want to make up the room, we need to put sign on the door knob, which we forget the 1st day, therefore room wasn't make up. But it may also tell u that, they don't simply go into ur room.

Staffs were very helpful and room was clean, but the facilities are lacking. Electricity connection sometimes was not working.

Great location, small room but clean

Just 3 to 5 minutes walk from Ximen station. Excellent location, really friendly and helpful staff. Stayed in a double room. Small but clean.

The best room for a single in Ximen!

I had the pleasure to stay here in a single room on the men's floor for 2 ngihts.
It is a little hard to locate the first time, down a side alley, but it is prime location in Ximen district and not far from the subway train.
The staff were all exceptional, they really helped me and made me feel welcomed. I cannot recommend them enough.
Also, the room was small, but I expected this, and for upto 3/4 night it would be ok. I found all parts of the hotel to be very clean and modern, expecially the shower and washrooms.
The room had a window too, so I could see out, which in Taipei does make a big difference as I've stayed in many cheaper single rooms that are windowless and quite claustrophobic - but not here!
Perfect for a more budget-conscious traveller but one who likes a private room and comfort.

Very Friendly Staff and Great Location

Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Biggest issue was noise. The rooms closest to the bathrooms are the noisiest, as the bathroom and shower doors make a lot of noise when they close. Adding to the noise issue is that none of the room doors seem to have any sort of weather-stripping (in fact, you can see light from the hallway under the door). If added, that would likely help a lot.

Walls are a bit thin if the person sleeping in the next room snores loudly.

Also adding to the noise issue is that your fellow guests are likely to let their room doors close on their own, which makes an awful lot of noise (doors auto close, and when they latch, it's quite loud). This could be eliminated by using your card key on the door as it closes, so that you retract the latch, gently close the door, and then release the latch manually. I don't expect anyone but me will ever do this...

The balcony is great, and there are washers and dryers up there. It can get quite loud if there's a party up there, but it's barely audible even in rooms nearer the entrance door.

Shower facilities need more ventilation, as there is a strong mildew smell and the whole room fogs up even with a single showerer.

Moth balls in the urinals are SO unnecessary (and toxic!). I'd ask the management/owners to please stop doing this.

Still, I'd stay here again. The location is great, the price is right, and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

Great service! Room cleanliness can improve

The hotel service was great! We arrived at Taipei after a midnight flight and reach the hotel around 9am. We requested for a super early check-in and the staff on duty was very kind and let us check in early without any additional charges at all!

One thing to note is that the walls are very thin, thus every morning we can hear the other tourists walking around the corridor waking their other friends. And we found a chewing gum on the carpet in which we thought that no one has check on it before

Wonderful stay at Colourmix. Totally enjoyed it

The stay was excellent. It was within 3-5 min walk to the Ximending Mrt station. The room that we stayed was bright and comfortable. The furnitures and shower fittings are new. There are security token to activate the lift as well to open the door towards the rooms. Rooms were cleaned daily and we had fresh towels. Excellent for couples

Comfortable stay and good value

This is my second time staying in this establishment and it was a better experience than my first one.
I got a room with a window and even though there's not much of a view, the window was big and received great sun-light, brightening a small but very clean room.
The room is equipped with a very good A/C (you need it especially with the summer heat), tv and clean towels, as well as multiple electricity plugs.
You do need to share the bathrooms and showers but they are all well-maintained and I cannot fault anything in that regard.
For the money that I paid, this is certainly good value and will head back on my next trip.
ps - the front desk was very helpful as well.

Highly recommend!

Perfect location even for a solo young lady going home at 10-11pm. My room and facilities are just as the photos shown. Will stay again if I revisit the city.

If I must say sth bad, the only tiny imperfection is about room cleaning service. The cleaning was quite minimal and indeed not very visible after I had asked for it by putting the Cleaning Card on my door. Hair on bed and room rubbish still there. I did it for once only and didnt do it again, so I would say on the very last day of a week's stay there I can somehow feel/smell 'the air of living' in my window-sealed, air-conditioned room. But that's perfectly fine , given the perfect location and new facilities.

Good Value @ Ximen

The premise is clean, the shared bathrooms are nicely-maintained and most importantly, the room is nicely-kept. These might not be big rooms but for the price that I paid, I think it's pretty decent value.

Decent location as well and an easy walk from the Ximen subway station.

A good stay and will be back again in a heart-beat.

Nice cosy hostel

I stayed at ColorMix for 5 nights during my vacation. As a solo traveller, I decided to go for the double bed room as I prefer a more spacious room. I was allocated room 105, which in my opinion is very comfortable for a person's use. The receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful. Also, there is a shop to wash and dry your clothes beside the hostel (so convenient!). There are lot of great and tasty food around the hostel as well. Overall, I enjoyed staying in this hostel and recommend it if you are looking for a comfortable place to stay for a short vacation!
