The staff here was phenomenal, always greeting me by name. The room was quirky but comfortable once I understood how things worked. The AC was a 3 switch on the wall, low medium and high. The hot water takes a bit but was plentiful after 5 or so minutes. I would stay here again. Mattress was A+++

This hotel is much worse compare to what you see on the web. Room is small, there is another wall out of your window, it's no view at all. Air-con is far less than sufficient, no laundry service as advertised, construction is on-going which is not revealed, bleach, drain smell is everywhere.
Service is poor, and they don't even provide enough bottle water to the room, even after being requested.

Hotel was very run-down. Halls and room smelled heavily of smoke even though there’s supposed to be no smoking. Rooms smell humid and musty. Mold all over the bathroom that didn’t have a shower curtain and the door didn’t close. There’s no safety lock for the doors. The bed is extremely uncomfortable. Each person gets one pillow and one small bath towel and nothing more. Oh, and did I mention, THERE WAS A COCKROACH IN MY BED

Travelers protect yourself

Hotel staff are friendly, only to cover up their inconsistent room conditions.

I made a full price reservation under the impression I would receive two queen beds as advertised at booking, as I wanted a big room all to myself – but I was taken advantaged of as a solo traveler and put into a corner room with just 1 queen bed.

The toilet stunk, bath tub has defects from deterioration, towels are yellow, room has no security lock, and windows leak in kitchen exhausts from the outside.

Not only that, I was informed the hotel was at full capacity and I cannot exchange rooms.

OK.

It took 1 night of enduring stenches, and 5 hrs of negotiation from 9am – 2pm the next day for the manager’s assistant to reluctantly give me a room under maintenance before transitioning.

I had to threaten to call the police.

They also do not have any “do not disturb/make up room” signs for communication. I was pestered by phone and in-person for any personal needs to be accommodated by the hotel afterwards.

This is to my understanding to pre-emptively gaslight my negative review that I have posted here for posterity.

Do check Google maps and other hotels.com comments for corroboration.

The entrance to the building was on a side street (alley). It's location was very convenient, and close to the Ximen. The reception was on the 4 th floor. The checkin process was quick and my request for a room with a window was fulfilled. The hallway leading to the room smelled like cigarette smoke. The room itself was okay, but the wifi was not great. I couldn't do video streaming.

Never in this hotel again.

1. Loud renovation sounds within the building every morning for 30 mins. When contacted, the staff insist that it is not within the building but will inform the nearby contractors. The noise went on throughout my 6 nights stay no less.

2. Wifi was intermittent at best. Kept getting logged out and I had real trouble doing work when I needed internet access.

3. Yellowish face towels. I think it belongs to the floor.

4. There was a day when room wasn’t made, despite communicating with the staffs on the times I will be out of the hotel.

5. Carpet in room feels at least decades old.

6. Only saving grace is that hotel staff is pleasant.

Han She needs some maintenance and renovation to its rooms. They have also removed the free mini-bar which was advertised during my booking with Hotels.com. Nevertheless, what Han She lacks of, it was covered by the friendly staffs, good proximity to Ximending and clean sheets/pillows.

A good stay

It was a good stay. The rooms are not as old as I initially thought.The bed is comfortable and the place is quiet for a good night sleep. Location is good and within walking distance to the Xiamen MRT station and Xiamen shopping area. Foods and 7-11 are nearby.
The only issue is the poor WiFi. You may need to get your own data sim if u need access to internet. However for this room price , it still worth coming back and I would return soon.

Hotel is trying luck to give me a no window room which I actually booked a room with window. Given a very smelly room without window, changed to me after I made complaint, and no choice left with one with window but not as what I have booked. Imagine if I did not make any complains, they obviously have sold that room that I have booked to others.

2nd, forgotten to make up room the next day. Again after my complaint at late night only they do it. This mean this hotel do not have any systems and check list in place.

Good location which is right near ximending night market and was easy to find after reading the reviews and had the gps activated. However, it is quite noisy at night since our room on the 10th flr was located right across a night club/restaurent building on the main road.

We stayed for 6 nights and except for the 1 and last day, we noticed that they do not replenish all the free amenities provided such as 1 day, we did not have the shower cap and on another day, no floss kit.

We had a bathtub with detachable shower head but there no shower curtain or glass partion so you have to sit/crouch to prevent too much water spill.

You cannot control the ac temperature too so it either on/off and the ac vents were position right onto one of the bed.

Room was as seen in the pictures and has sufficient amenities. Our room was big enough for our luggages which is good as some hotels are abit more cramped.

However it’s inconvenient because we are required to return our keys whenever we leave the hotel.. And the hotel is located in a small road that took us awhile to find. But it is still an easily accessible place!

Generally quite a good stay here.

1) room is small; 30sq ft on the internet is not true
2) toiletries are still in sachet form
3) after day 1 housekeeping, water bottle was left behind, thought it belong to cleaner but no one came to collect throughout out stay
4) we came back in the afternoon after housekeeping; rested for a while and went out to night market. upon return, found floor mat has been re-arranged and toilet cover seat put down. why would hotel do 2nd housekeeping for just 2 items?
5) wifi is slow
6) need to return key whenever we go out
7) water heater takes long time to work
8) only small paper cups is given
9) unnecessary furniture; without these space will be bigger

Where's the check-in counter!!

When I arrived there another couple arrived there at the same time I did and we could not fine the check-in counter. Their reception desk is not on the first floor. We had to go in the elevator and stop at every floor until we found the floor that had the check-in counter!! They should place a sign on the ground floor somewhere directing first time customers to the check-in desk!

Good little hotel.

Stayed for 4nights recently. Good hotel with friendly and helpful staff. I found it hard to find as its down a lane. Water was never very hot for a shower. Just tepid. Reception is on 4th floor which is not marked . It's very central . Xiamen mtr is the station. Leave exit 6 and walk straight ahead by under amour .it is nearly opposite Starbucks . Television was great with loads of English news and film channels. Great in room wi fi too.

We are a group of 10 persons stayed at Han She Hotel for 2 nights. Overall we are satisfied and staff are friendly. You just stop car at main road and walk few steps to hotel entrance. Just used lift go to 4th floor for check in. Easy to get food and good for shopping around hotel. We are happy to stayed here.

Stayed 3 nights from 24th March 2018 to 27th March 2018. Entrance to hotel is inside a small street and the front desk is at Level 4. Front desk staff is friendly and courteous. Room is huge as what I wanted. Decor and furnishing was dated except for the large flat-screen TV. Bathroom comes with a bathtub which we need to stand inside to bath. Aircon was working fine for the 1st night but on the 2nd and 3rd night we had to call the front desk to increase fan speed as the aircon is not cold enough. The aircon control inside the room is not working as it is being controlled by their central system. After calling them, they turned up the aircon fan speed and lowered the temp. Apart from the aircon issue, the room is clean and huge and is within walking distance to Ximending.

The room is very small and looked different from the picture. The location is great as it is very close to restaurants, shopping and just 3 mins walk to Ximen MRT. The inconvenience is that we to drop off or collect our room key on the 4th floor when we leave or come back to the hotel before we can go to our room. The lift is slow and sometimes we have to wait for a while for another lift just to drop off or collect the key. Very annoying.

The location was great, close enough to ximen station. The service was also excellent and the staff were overall very helpful and very attentive.
However, some issues such as not being able to read mandarin proved a challenge (e.g. the room’s phone instructions was in mandarin, some special buttons in the bathroom was in mandarin) although these issues are minor as the reception was incredibly helpful to send someone up to help explain. Also, the Wi-fi on our last night didn’t seem to work well however, again, the reception was willing to send someone up despite it being well over 10pm.
Also something to note is that it seems that hot water is limited as the last person to shower did not have enough hot water.
Overall, I can say that this stay was comfortable and location and service was excellent!

a bit difficult to find initially as the entrance to the building is on the side street. once you find the building number continue walking until the corner of the block (alley), between the restaurant and bakery is a side street turn left walk 3 meters the entrance is on the left. Take the elevator to the 4th floor to get to reception. They should do away with physical key entry and introduce key card entry

Great Location and staff service excellent! Staff very friendly and helpful.

Location: Exit 6 of Xiamen MRT station. Please note that entrance to the hotel is at the side of a small lane. Lobby is at the 4th floor.

There are many eateries, shops and massage parlours nearby or just below the hotel. Walking distance to Ximending night market is about 5-8 minute walk.

I stayed at economy room with no window. Room very cold but overall is good and comfortable.

Han Shi Hotel entrance is located off the main road inside a side road.
Best method to locate this hotel is to use Google map with GPS locator using a smartphone. Buy local Pre-paid SIM card from Taoyuan International Airport with unlimited 3G Data with selected plan.
Hotel furnishing is a little out-dated but room is clean & enough space for 2 person luggage.
Breakfast is porridge with local chinese dishes with fruits & standard coffee, tea & milk; and food prepared are good & hygiene to kick start the day.
Hotel location about 150m straight from West entrance of XiMen MRT station across 2 traffic junction.

My daughter likes the buns sold at the bakery just at the corner of the entrance to the hotel. We stayed in the quadruple room for 3 nights. Room is slightly on the small side. There is not much room to put the luggage begs. Same varieties of breakfast is being served daily.

We booked the room for 4 pax but was quite disappointed as the space was mainly taken up with a huge bathtub in the toilet which makes walking space in the room very limited. The water pressure from the spray was rather weak as well. The 2 pax room was much better from my previous stay. Nonetheless, we will still return because of the good service and good location.

Comfortable room but the room I was staying in seems to be a dead zone as there was completely no wifi at all. The flooring design has room for improvements as I nearly tripped over on a few occasions. Location was wonderful. Just a 3 mins walk and you are in ximending.

disappointing second stay

A disappointing second stay due to the bad rooms allocated. Gotten rooms 507 and 508 for a family of 4.
room 507 has no wifi coverage at all. Was told by reception there was a problem with the entire building that day. But problem still existed next morning yet when I brought my tablet to the corridor and room 508, wifi was at full bar.
Room 508 has a bad flooring design. One gets tripped easily before walking into the room which descends a step, and ascends a step at the cosmetics make up area. The power sockets are located at obscured areas, from under the bed to the ceiling. Goodness.

Location was excellent though. Right at the exit of ximending.

can't stand cigarette smell

We were given a room that we couldn't stand due to heavy cigarette smell. All the rooms were supposed to be \"non-smoking\". The staff simply sprays some chemicals to make the situation better. However, the smell is still in the furniture, the carpets....They offered to give us a better room in the morning since they were fully booked that night...Finally, they gave us a bigger, better room on the 7th floor the next morning. But we had to pay US$50 extra for 2 nights for the upgrade. We would never go there again!

This hotel is hard to find, located in an alley, there is no reception on the main floor, you need to take an elevator to the 4th floor (elevator floor is in chinse). Once i got to the reception on 4th floor, checked in and went to my room on the 9th floor, i opened the door, and realized my room has not been made up yet. Finally a cleaning lady came by and quicly cleaned my room. Another problem is that the hotel smells like chemicals, almost like a pesticide place. They must be using strong chemicals for cleaning, also heavy smoke smell. Another problem is that everytime you leave the hotel, u need to drop the keys off on the 4th floor with the front desk, you are not allowed to take it witn you. The hotel also uses an out dated key system, no plastic swipes, and there is no way to lock the door from the inside, no safety lock , no chain , no safety latch. This hotel was a total dissapointment, furthermore, there is no shower curtain in the bathroom, so if you wanna shower, the water will go all over the floor.

The hotel is hard to find, located in a small alley, there is no reception in the building, you need to take an elevator to the 4th floor of the building, so u can find the hotel reception. I checked in, and had to take elevator to my room on 9th floor, after got into my room, realized the room has not been made up yet and had to call for maid to clean it. This was already a dissapointment, furthermore, the hotel smells bad, they using some kidn of strong chemical in the rooms, i believe to fight bugs or whatever they are trying to kill. The elevator hotel lobby button is written in chinese, so when i got to the hotel buildilng, i didnt know which button to press in elevator to get to the reception. The room comes with old set of keys, and everytime you leave the hotel, u must stop on 4th floor to leave the key with the reception. The rooms are not too bad, but definitely are not worth the $70 i paid on expedia. This is maybe a $40 hotel a night if that, also the washroom has a bathub that has no shower curtains so it is very hard to take a shower, and the water comes out very slow to fill the tub. I would never stay here again and would not advice anyone

I had no problem with my stay, it was a nice and clean hotel, no breakfast included in my book so I could not say anything about the food. all signs and name of the hotel in Chinese including the flood to the lobby also has the hotel name in Chinese on the elevator floor selection bottoms. be careful and did some research before you get there to avoid confusion if you don't know any Chinese like me.

I will definitely won't stay in this stupid hotel if I ever go to Taipei area. Told the hotel staff that I would like to delay the check out time till 6pm but at the end, they told me that they will only let me delay for 30mins..
Airport shuttle : TWD 1400 ( one way ) If on that day itself have more than 4 passenger they will only arrange for shuttle.. How ridiculous is that?
Things were missing luckily is just a hair band that gone missing!
All the towel and other bathing accessory, they will take away on the last night.. On the next morning, you need to use your own thing.. What if I did not bring towel and other accessory during the trip? Is it that I don't have to bath??

was my 2nd stay. 1st stayed was 2yrs ago. With competition from all the new hotels and no major improvements made, Hanshe has become a budget hotel charging full rates. Ac is centralised where u have no control over room temp; doors are using keys where you will need to surrender to the reception when u head out; u cannot lock the door from inside; request for later check out (of less than 2 hours) was responded with charges; slippers for the room were recycled; the shower head did not have a holder on the wall hence you need to hold onto the shower head to shower; the lighting controls were located next to the doors where you cannot access from your bedside; bags deposited for temp storage were left in the open with no security.

First time hotel stay in Taiwan.

Well, it's my first stay in Taiwan. So Han She Hotel is the first one I've ever stayed. Overall, the stay was up to my expectation. Not forgetting the cozy feeling when I spend the night there. The hotel staff are friendly and prompt in letting us know how to go to places that we are uncertain of and also the morning call that the staff gave when our taxi had arrived to the airport.

Great location, so-so hotel service

I was mentally prepared for my stay at hanshe, having read some of the negative reviews on tripadvisor. I would say it's good for its location, 5 min walk to ximen station, and ximending - a hip shopping place. Hotel wise - service was average. Check-in time is supposed to be 3pm, but one of our rooms wasn't ready till about 4pm. A couple of ladies at check in counter were kind and helpful, but there's this particular lady who was kind of impatient when asked for directions. She was also very inflexible when i asked to check out at 12.30pm (instead of 12pm). She cited some silly excuse \"oh computer will self generate, and you'll be charged once it's past 12pm!\". Room - overall it was ok, although i did see a baby roach in the bathroom. WARNING - for families with young kids - pls be warned that there is pornography on some channels!!! I was flipping through the remote control one morning (yes, morning!) and was caught off guard, but quickly switched channels. Fortunately my son is too young to understand. So pls don't let your kids play with the remote!

Great service, good location, but 'smoking' smell

We stayed for 2 nights. First impression stepping into the hotel was good, as there was warm welcome and good service from the staff. But, when we entered the room, there was smoke smell. We requested to change room. While waiting for a new room, we went shopping nearby, It was a good location surrounded by malls, good food and tourism spots. We went back to the hotel at night. Again, the new room was a disappointment. Smoke smell. We asked the cleaner to remove the smoke smell, they attended to us promptly, using the ozone air purifier. The smell reduced, but our clothes in the luggage were caught with the smoke smell a bit which we need to use them to travel to the rest of Taiwan. Highly recommend if you don't mind the smell.

Dishonest staff, clean rooms, great location

PRO: The location is great, 3 minutes walk to subway station, right at the edge of the shopping district. Many places to eat nearby too.

CON: Dishonest staff - I booked 2 rooms for 4 adults. I was given 2 sets of keys. We went to the rooms, which were next to each other, they were Quad Rooms (ie. 4 pax/room). We settled into the rooms & 5 minutes later got a call from reception saying we had to choose 1 of the 2.

I said I booked 2 rooms but the guy at reception said I only booked 1 room for 4 pax. I was unable to verify that because I had already giving him my booking confirmation form. I asked to change my booking but he said only 1 Double Room available. Thank goodness there was free wifi. I got onto my email & found the booking confirmation. It listed Room 1 & Room 2. I showed the guy.

He then moved us to a Double Room but told us that the other double room would only be available later. We decided to go out & explore while they got the other room ready. It was 4pm when we left the hotel & at 8pm when we got back, it was still not ready, we only got the room at 9pm!!

Next day we went to book a day tour, reception recommended a different tour which turn out to be a con job, taking us places to buy things we didn't want with pressure tactics!

The rooms are clean but for those who get a room with central air-conditioning (some are single unit air-con) be prepared for a smoky night as smokers from other rooms puff away and the smoke comes into your room via the aircon.

Lovely hotel with nice staff

The staff is very friendly and helpful, and their English is good. They had to put me in a room with no windows since there was a delay in a windowed room, but I found it to be fairly large and comfortable, so I stayed in that room for the length of my stay. The hotel and rooms are nicely furnished. The bed was an Asian queen size (same width as a U.S. queen, but the length of a Full), and it was hard as a rock. Extremely uncomfortable. The bathroom was very nice, but could have used more lighting. It was a 4 minute walk to Ximen station Exit 1. Overall a good find in Ximending.

It was my 2nd time stay with Han She Hotel. It was really accessible. However, this time we were experiencing maintenance during the period of our stay. I must admit that it brought us inconvenience as i've been changing rooms throughout my 3 nights stay. The Air-Con was not working well during the night and thus the room was getting warmer. The staffs were friendly and were able to assist to my needs.

Excellent hotel staff - very friendly and helpful. Room good and very clean. Breakfast not to our taste but the Cook went out of her way to give us fried eggs with our toast. Hotel difficult to find - fortunately we were pre-warned. Hotel in a lively and vibrant area and ideal for local sights and MRT. A good choice for us.
