the hotel is basic. location is excellent. very much at the heart of night market. but surprisingly, I did not hear the street noise. The walls are thin so the noice from hallway is audible. There is no food option within the facility but as it is in the heart of the ximending area, then it really does not need it.

If you are shopaholic and foodaholic, this is the hotel you should book! Location is perfect and Ximending is the suburb that never sleep!

The hotel service is quick (when we have issue with our door key) and efficient (book for airport transfer and having someone to guide and take us to taxi). Even though the hotel is just only 3 star rating, the room is being kept clean and tidy everyday upon our request.

There is an eating place at one of the floor (outside food allowed) with soft drinks, tea and coffee machine plus snacks provided to us who stayed in the hotel.

A generous compliment gift bag (pineapple cake and fragrance soap) was given to us who celebrated NEW YEAR in this hotel.

Highly recommended hotel and you will enjoy the vibrant night life here!

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. It surprised me. Based on the reviews I’d read, I braced myself and set my expectations low, but it was a good stay. The double room I got was medium sized and clean with daily housekeeping. The Taiwanese government has banned hotels from providing guests single-use amenities for environmental reasons. so you won’t get any, but they provide body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Each room has its own private WiFi setup which I’ve never seen before, but sometimes, it was spotty. There is no breakfast, but on the 3rd floor are small fridges of free mini canned soft drinks, a hot drinks machine that also does hot chocolate (!) and a box of packets of chips (or crisps, depending on where you’re from). All they ask is that you don’t waste them. There are also tables on that floor, for people to share meals with their traveling group if needed. The hotel is right in the middle of the Ximending shopping area, which can get, crowded. My window faced the street, but I always wear noise masking earbuds to sleep, so I don’t know how noisy it could get. The bathroom was a bit small, but had a bath tub, shower and toilet. The hotel location makes it easy to access transport links, food, shopping and is 20 mins from Taipei Main Station where the Express train from Taoyuan Airport stops. There is even a Sports Center nearby, at NT$ 50 per hour to use the gym/pool facilities, if you are someone who needs to. And there are a number of laundromats close too

Rainbow hotel is NOT a pretty hotel. However it is very good enough to explore ximending and the surrounding area. From the reception area to the rooms , totally outdated and looked so tired of a hotel. The room was clean enough to stay in . No restaurant, however, their former restaurant is now a pantry where stayers can enjoy free snacks and drinks. Wi fi is not that bad but the room where i stayed is so slow that i have to go the pantry/ 3rd floor to have a better signal.
If you are not fussy with aesthetics and comfort, this will be good enough.

No A/C, No Sleep, No Thanks

The in-room air conditioning was a major problem—it felt no different from the 98-degree heat outside in Taipei. Since I work U.S. hours, restful sleep is crucial, but instead I had a miserable experience. Maintenance was called in, inspected the unit, and appeared to be addressing the issue, but there was no improvement whatsoever.

I ultimately left a day early and moved to another hotel. While the location is convenient, the service is lacking. To add to the disappointment, the hotel permitted homeless individuals to sleep on the stairs at the entrance, which hardly felt like a welcoming arrival.

It is quite dated but the 5-person room I booked was great for our family. Just that there was only 1 bathroom. The bathtub was not in the greatest condition but everything was functioning. Great location as it is right in the middle of Ximending and walkable to Ximen station. We loved the location and enjoyed our stay. Was super grateful that we were able to check-in earlier than 5pm due to low season. Enjoyed the free snacks and drinks that were available. Pretty good stay for us.

The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It's very convenient and easy to go around for food and shopping. Other than that, everything else is terrible about this hotel: it is very old, not so clean, there's a very bad smell in the bathroom on the 3rd floor dining area, bad customer service, building structure is terrible (water leaks inside the room from the window when raining), very limited daylights in the room, and most important, there's ants inside the room! Horrible! Overall this hotel is old and not good. I will not recommend.

The best thing about the property is accessibility. It is right in the middle of the Ximen night market with shopping and food choices. It is a few minute walk from the Ximen Station, which is 1 ride away from Taipei Station. The 2nd best thing is the free snacks and drinks. The 3rd is the good room and comfort room size that are comfortable. The room itself is basic but no complaints. Worth it for the price. Recommended and will stay again.

Disappointing Stay – Not Recommended

I had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. The building is extremely old and poorly maintained, which immediately gives a bad impression upon arrival. The cleanliness was unacceptable — the bathroom had visible mold, which made it feel unsanitary and uncomfortable to use. The towels provided were greyish rather than white, clearly worn out and not properly cleaned.

To make matters worse, the receptionist was unfriendly and unhelpful. It's unfortunate when staff show little regard for hospitality, especially when guests are already dealing with subpar conditions.

The only positive aspect of this hotel is its location, which is convenient and central. However, that alone is not enough to justify staying here. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and strongly suggest looking elsewhere for better value and comfort.

No-frills hotel in great location

The hotel is situation in the heart of Ximending so it's really convenient and fun for visitors. Despite the activities outside, the building is quite well insulated from the street noise. The hotel is quite basic, but the staff is very friendly. My (standard) room was small but clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel has a dining area on level 3 with FREE snacks, coffee and soft drinks!! Highly recommended if you are looking for a no-frills, budget-friendly hotel.

The hotel room is clean and the hotel is right in the centre of Ximending. You can bring your food back to eat at Level 3. It has good sound proofing so you can't hear the performances downstairs. However, there is no ramp (for elderly and luggage), there is only 1 lift and the hotel is a bit dated. To us the pros outweigh the cons so we enjoyed our stay there. Even though the hotel is dated, it's really clean and the location is very convenient.

It is located in the middle of a very fun and involving night market with plenty of entertainment and places to eat, live music and entertainment.
Hotel building is an older one, you will get an actual metal door key for your room!
But with that, be prepared NOT TO FLUSH toilet paper: there is even a sign there tells you not to.
There is no microwave in hotel or your room, so have local convenience store heat your take out, but there is a refrigerator in the room.

this is right in the middle of action in ximending-the hip place in taiwan. the rooms are dated, but the location is super. in the 3rd floor they have a dining area where coffee, tea, juices in cartons are free, unlimited bottled water also. the staff speaks good english and attends to your concern. 15 minutes walk from taipei main station, or 5 minutes by taxi-cost around 150 nwt.

The hotel staff was really nice, they always greeted me upon entry and exit as long as they weren’t assisting other guests. Laundry service was quick and everything was laundered well. Location was central to everything in Ximendeng. The room itself was a bit small, but that was expected for a solo traveler. I enjoyed the free refreshments that they offered on the third floor, I’d always stop by for a cup of coffee and a milk tea box on my way out in the morning. I’d recommend this hotel for those looking to stay in this neighborhood and would happily book again if I were ever to visit again

Pros:
- Like everyone says, it’s an EXCELLENT location. Smack dab in the middle of Ximending, and a short walk to the MRT station. Perfect for first time travelers like me, who could get a lot of shopping done in Ximending while being able to travel all around Taipei
- Hotel offers pickup and drop off service at airport for around $30 USD each way. You could take the TPE metro, but it wouldn’t be a direct stop. The shuttle was affordable and convenient, and the ride was only about 40 minutes. I couldn’t imagine lugging all my baggage down those steps at the station!
- Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Thank you to the girl that was smaller than me but helped carry my biggest suitcase out to the shuttle van!!
- 3rd floor is a guest “lounge” of sorts, with tables and free snacks and drink machines (including coffee and milk te!). Nice place to chill if you ordered delivery/takeout and want a full table to eat at.

Cons:
- The location is fantastic, but be warned you’re going to hear A LOT of street noise because of it. Street performers, billboards, and pedestrians. If you plan on only sleeping here, it shouldn’t be a big deal, but don’t expect to sleep in.
- No hand soap in bathroom :(. Had to use shower gel.
- Not exactly sound proof, could hear talking, coughing and sneezing next door at all hours of the day. Get ear plugs!

Our stay at Rainbow Hotel in Taipei was nothing short of fantastic! The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Ximending, surrounded by shops and restaurants, making it convenient for exploring the area.

However, what truly made the experience remarkable was the exceptional service provided by the staff, especially a lovely girl with short hair who went above and beyond during our check-out. On the day of our departure, it was raining heavily, and we were struggling to find a taxi to the airport. Despite the challenging weather, she effortlessly stepped in, braved the rain, and helped us secure a taxi in no time! Her genuine kindness and quick action made such a difference and ensured we got to the airport stress-free.

The rooms were comfortable, clean, and cozy, offering everything we needed for a pleasant stay. The staff overall were friendly, attentive, and always willing to assist, but this young lady truly stood out with her dedication.

If you're looking for a hotel with a prime location and top-notch service, Rainbow Hotel is the place to stay. Thank you again to the staff, especially to the wonderful girl who saved our rainy day!

Smack in the center of EVERYTHING. Room is a lot bigger than expected. 3rd floor has an eating area that has a coffee machine, a cold drink machine and free bottle water. About a 5 minute walk to the Ximen station. We took the bus from airport. The bus stop was a 5 minute walk to the hotel. On the way to airport, we took the MRT to Taipei station and then used the airport MRT. Very convenient either way. No laundry machines, but we used a coin laundromat about an 8 minute walk away.

We stayed 4n/5d and I can’t complain. We arrived around 930am and allowed us to go to our room early for a small fee. Staff in the reception are nice. This hotel has all the basic you will need. It has free coffee (different flavors), hot chocolate, teas, water and juices and chips 24 hrs a day. Housekeeping everyday. We were on the 9th floor (901) and it was quiet. Hot and cold water has no issues.

The location is superb. Has street performers right in front of the hotel, it was our entertainment every night, reminds me of New York City (my home). Street foods and lots of restaurants and shops. It’s called Ximending Night Market. It’s also close to public transport - MRT, buses and taxis.

I highly recommend this hotel if you’re not too picky. It’s safe and affordable.

A very convenient, comfortable and caring hotel. The hotel staff, Ms Zhang was most helpful, friendly and courteous. It may be a small simple hotel, which does not offer many frills and any more breakfast due to the pandemic, but the 24 hours hot and cold drink machines, snacks, and dining area made accessible to all hotel guests are more than sufficient to make up for it. Always Our First Choice

Have always loved staying at Rainbow Hotel whenever we travel to Taipei. It is very conveniently located and the staff are all very friendly. Room allocated is clean and big but do not have sufficient hanger space. Breakfast may be simple but it's more than sufficient and the dishes are very delicious. The hotel is only a short walk from Ximen station, although we only had a tourist map and had to take a taxi when we first arrived, although it didn't cost much. The hotel shows its age but it's well-maintained, clean and comfortable. We had, for a small premium, a deluxe room, which was very spacious and a pleasant change from some of the cramped rooms we've booked, although we think \"deluxe\" referred to the spaciousness not the furnishings, which were sparse but adequate.

the hotel is not far from Ximen MRT station so it is convenient for travel. However, the room have a bit cigarette smell and you can hear a noise from corridor.

Sometimes vacations can be challenging and unforeseen things come up as did with me during my stay here. But i must say that the staff at this hotel will take care of you. They are very responsive to your needs and concerns. Any issue with my stay here were more than adequately taken care of. Wanhua is a lively area and thats why people want to stay here.

Is very very convenice with lots of nice local food and shops surrounded. Rooms spacious.
Maybe toilet is a little small but still ok of the price u pay. Haha
