The location is excellent — just across from Ximending, right next to the metro elevator, and directly opposite a bus stop, which makes getting around very convenient.

However, there are some downsides. The reception is located on Level 13, and the hotel does not provide a luggage trolley. This made things quite difficult, especially since we had multiple heavy suitcases after shopping. Guests have to carry their luggage up and down themselves, and when I asked if I could borrow a trolley, I was told there wasn’t one available. No assistance was offered either, which was challenging as I was travelling with my elderly mother.

We previously stayed at another three-star hotel that did provide a trolley, which made a big difference. This is something to consider if you are travelling with family, young children, or elderly companions.

Personally, I would prefer to pay a bit more to stay at a nearby hotel where the reception is on the ground floor and luggage assistance is available. I also found the staff member on the afternoon shift to be unfriendly and not very helpful, as he seemed to be in a bad mood most of the time.

This is my third time at the hotel and as always I had a very pleasant stay. The hotel is located right across the street from Ximenting西门町 and within walking distance from Taipei train station. A 7 Eleven store is next door to the hotel entrance. The room is very clean. The morning breakfast buffet is bountiful and delicious.

TLDR: Green World Zhonghua in Taipei offers prime location near Ximen MRT but shows clear inconsistencies between its renovated lower floors and older upper levels. Prior to booking, I spent hours doing research (Facebook, YouTube, and online reviews). Unfortunately, I wasn't aware that the reviews were ONLY focused on the newer floors; and the stock photos for the older floors were probably taken a long time ago!

Room Quality: The original 12th-floor room displayed aging elements such as scuffed white walls, older gray curtains, and seems like moldy bathroom. Bathroom tiles appeared clean but dated with minor wear around edges. Post-upgrade on the 2nd floor, rooms align better with various positive YouTube reviews featuring sleeker designs and city views.

Common Areas: Hallways on upper floors highlights dirty beige carpet and dim lighting from few fixture. Laundry facilities suffer from ceiling water damage and stains.

Internet connectivity: Unreliable throughout the stay, with frequent dropouts and weak signals even on the upgraded 2nd floor. Streaming services would suffer from constant buffering.

Breakfast: Not great - opted to skip the hotel breakfast on most days. Again, the YouTube videos for breakfast looked great!

Staff and Upgrades: Despite the condition of the building and the old floors, the staff were friendly and especially helpful to get me an upgrade to the 2nd floor (much better)!

Self kiosk check in was a little confusing and different from what was done at other Green World hotels, which took some extra time to sort out. The building layout was confusing to navigate and a little outdated. The room was very spacious and similar to the photos online. The washroom was a little dated with uneven bathtub/shower floor tiles and grime along the edges/corners. The location was convenient to Ximending and other shopping places.

No me dieron el cuarto que yo seleccione, me dieron uno peor, el piso estaba sucio al igual que el baño, las paredes todas manchadas tanto las del cuarto como las de los pasillos.
Valijas por todos lados de los huéspedes antes del check in o después, muy mal aspecto provocó a mi llegada al hotel, el aspecto descuidado del hotel no me agradó, lo único bueno fue el desayuno y la localización, pero como pagué poco no tuve como reclamar, pero no fue muy buena experiencia, sinceramente no volvería.

If you’re familiar with holiday inn, it’s the holiday inn of Taiwan. As someone that frequents Taiwan, always go with chain hotel. Otherwise 9/10 times you will find small, moldy, and dirty accommodations. Green world is one of the better chains. You always get more to comparable values out there. Bed and room is usually a little bigger, renovated, AC works well and it’s quiet, bed acceptably comfortable, generally clean, well staffed, and almost always at a good location. You always get more than what you paid in comparison to others with GW. Go for it.

Very pleasantly surprised.

Wasn't to sure what to expect, but very pleasantly surprised. Staff were great and very helpful. The location is superb, 15 mins walk from Taipei main station and right on top of the Ximen MRT station.
The room was very large(I had the corner room with huge windows overlooking the street).
Breakfast was only okay, but as they catered for a variety of nationalities they still did alright. Food outlets in the surrounding areas that early in the morning are very sparse. So having the breakfast option was a good way of getting something in the morning.
I really enjoyed my stay and would certainly go back next time I decide to stay over.

Great location close to a lively night market and central transportation hub. Room provided (booked through Expedia) bore no similarity to the photos and were oddly designed and quite dated. The adjoining rooms booked were connected via an external hallway with a third door that was occasionally left open during the day. The hotel has many floors throughout a shared building and there seems to be high variability between the floors in terms of property conditions.

This hotel is unsafe.
We first realised there was an issue when another guest walked into our room. We phoned reception who told us not to worry because he was staying in another room. This did not explain how he got into our room.
The next day we came back to find our room unlocked. We had made sure it had locked when we left. Again we spoke to reception. Initially they said there was no problem. Only when we insisted did we get someone to come and see. The staff member showed us the ‘special way’ to lock our door. They completely ignored that the door would not lock by itself like every other hotel I have ever stayed in.
The third day, we found that the cleaning staff left our room unlocked…again. This time we decided to leave notes for them, they were able to lock the door after that.

Decent place at a great location

I love the fact they have connected rooms, perfect for families with older kids (teenagers).

The room is generally clean in the areas you can see. But when I was double checking the bottom of the beds before checkout to make sure none of our stuff fell there and get left behind, it doesn't look like they clean there regularly.

They only do room cleanup every third night, which is okay. But they missed cleaning one of the two rooms we stayed in.

Location is great, just across Ximending. Wifi is good. Free breakfast, but there's not a lot of variety. We stayed 4 nights so we got tired of the breakfast menu. A few items rotated but it was about 80% the same for all 4 days.

There is an elevator right beside the entrance to an underground mall that connects to the Ximen station. So even if its rainy when you arrive or leave by train, you can stay dry walking to or from the station.

the check in is chaotic, the check-in lobby is so tiny and they really check in everyone at 3pm sharp. the room have no space to put cloths away, it doesn't provide any shower gel or body lotion. the mattress is really hard and the breakfast is bad, most items are tasteless, but the view from the room is good since we are on 11floor, and that is the only things I enjoy staying there .

•Ascenseurs insuffisants : Seulement deux ascenseurs indépendants pour 13 étages, entraînant souvent des attentes prolongées, surtout aux heures de pointe.
•Manque de propreté et d’organisation : Chariots de services et équipements de construction laissés dans les couloirs, créant une impression de désordre et d’inconfort.
•Nuisances lumineuses : Les LED des équipements multimédia sont trop lumineuses et clignotent, gênant le sommeil.
•État général des infrastructures : Moquette de la chambre vieillissante et ondulée dans les couloirs, ce qui nuit à l’esthétique et à la sécurité.

Fair option for what you pay for a hotel that is easily accessible to Ximen station, and walkable distance to the heart of Ximending.
