This is our second time staying at Amba Ximending, but unfortunately this visit was disappointing. Staff service was excellent — everyone was friendly and helpful throughout our stay. However, the room conditions did not meet expectations. The TV signal was unstable, the WiFi was intermittent, and the air-conditioning weakened at night, causing us to wake up in the middle of the night feeling very warm. The room also wasn’t very soundproof, and we could hear noises from next door. The pillows looked fluffy but became completely flat once we lay on them, offering very little support - probably very old pillows. We also encountered a cockroach in the room, which was quite disappointing. Overall, the staff were great, but the room itself needs maintenance and improvement. It doesn’t feel like a 4 star hotel to be honest.

The staff is very polite, helpful and attentive to my needs. The housekeeper knows that I require a floor towel and she placed one when she was doing her housekeeping. At the reception, the staff Andrew was meticulous by telling me to check if I have my passport and personal valuables during check-out. Their service is excellent. I will definitely return to stay at Amba Ximending in my next trip. Good job.

The space was huge and comfortable for two friends travelling together. The toulet and shower are separate, the vanity is open, there is a living room with a roomy couch. There is plenty of space in this industrial-look hotel.
The beds are comfortable and in a separate space with a curtain so one person could stay up while the other slept. Given the hot and humid temperatures, we were pleased with the quality of the AC. In fact we had to adjust it because it was too cool.
The front desk staff at check in were excellent (Wendy and Eddie). They helped us short list a few restaurants and places to go during 1.5 days with you.

Location is totally convenient. For muslim travellers, cant recommend this hotel enough. They have a separate halal breakfast set upon request. I was served beef noodles with salad. Utensils were seperated as well.

In the heart of Ximending shopping district. Rooms are large in size but layout for our xL twin room for 3 people included a soft mattress on a hard sofa. A regular rollaway bed would have been better. The free laundry is really convenient. Our last day the wifi was down for the whole day. I complained multiple times but front desk could nto provide an eta. Eventually they provided my room with its own router which was nice but slow. Can't recall other instances in all my travels where WiFi was down for more than a day especially in a developed area. Was not a power outage. Was still down the day I left. Would have given 5 stars but that issue knocked it down to 4.

We love Amba hotels. Nice size rooms, great locations, free laundry, ice machines and friendly staff. This one has a great location and we enjoyed being right in the action. Room was quiet even with the action on the streets below. Metro station is a short walk too. We did everything including day trip to Juifen with the hotel as a base. Very walkable. During check-in, the staff was neither welcoming nor friendly. He did not mention any of the hotel amenities or offer suggestions, even though we arrived very early in the morning. When we inquired about paying an early check-in fee, the rate offered was for a check-in six hours early, but at a price higher than our original booking rate. The location was extremely convenient and the free laundry is a plus.
The only thing is we booked on Expedia (2 adults and 2 kids) but the room ended up having only 2 twin beds. So each adult had to sleep with a kid. It was very tight! The larger rooms were sold out when we were booking, but if you need more space, make sure you book the larger rooms - it’s only in those rooms where they can add an extra bed.

Great hotel but can be better

The hotel stay was overall comfortable and room is spacious, it is also relatively clean. However the lift were old and there was once when the lift was not levelled with the ground which was quite dangerous. The pillows were not great and we had to stack them up for more comfort. We were also not able to get extra pillows each as they said they had limited supply. It would be great if we could get the choose different types of pillows.

Disappointed stay!

It’s my returned stay at amba hotel. This time I stayed for 4 nights. Requested for late check out due to evening flight but was only given 30mins extension. I borrowed an umbrella and left in the room. Upon checkout I informed counter staff umbrella was in the room. They took very long to check and insisting to locate the umbrella before agree I can go. Disappointed stay. Will not stay here anymore and will not recommend my friends to stay here.

We chose a room with window but all we saw was the rooms across from us. Their bedding was okay. The pillows were too low for me. The mattress was medium. The room was very spacious. I think overall it’s acceptable comfort wise. Location wise is excellent! It’s right at all the Ximending food area. Price wise, it makes sense because of the location. I would like to think that Ximending is a mini NewYork in this area.

Excellent stay but a little glitches

The overall staying experience was excellent. Friendly and helpful front-desk and staffs.
A few minor things that caused confusion and unpleasant experience:
1. The house-keeping sometimes forgot to re-fill the water bottles and shower gels/shampoo. One bathrobe was supplied instead of two on the last day.
2. Laundry: 2 washing machines were working instead of all 3 during my 5-night stay. And the time indicator gave incorrect duration and caused the delay of emptying the washing machine for the next guest. The other guest had removed my clothes and put into the dryer without my knowledge. After collected and folded the clothes only found out one \"Calvin Klein\" T-shirt and a beach short were missing. There was nothing I could do for the loss.

This was the 2nd time we stayed here. We booked 2 rooms this time round due to kids and elderly. Location wise no doubt that it is at a prime location in the heart of XMD. highly recommended. FOC usage of their washing machine and dryer. Only down side was that if you need anything (water, tooth brush...), you need to go down to their 5th floor reception to collect. Cleanliness of the room wise I will say subjective. We stayed for 3 nights. The cleaning was good after the first night. But after 2nd night, there were no emptying of the rubbish in the trash bin or tables despite putting the cleaning sign, no replacement of the showering amenities too. But I believe this should be a 1 off thingy

Not only did they call a taxi for me but also escorted me outside to make sure the driver took me to the destination. Such wonderful attention!
