The staff at Extended Stay Rutherford is by far the best, they always go above and beyond. Jackie is amazing. The hotel was sold out and she knew my daughter and i needed a room for the night (on Valentines Day no less) and she made it happen. Jeff the manager should be very proud because the level of customer service that his staff gives is beyond 5 stars. I would give 10 stars if i could. There have been times when i was in a stressful situation and they always worked with me and made it less stressful.

Hello overall the stay was ok. We didn’t see any housekeeping come to the room so I guess we had to call them which was fine. The continental. Breakfast could have been way better nutri grain bars tea and coffee is not enough for Adults. We made it work overall for time we was there.

The staff were courteous and efficient. The room was okay. The knob that switches the water fron the tap to the shower wouldnt let all of the water come out of the shower, and it made a loud noise, bit the shower was adequate with hot water, so it was more of an annoyance. It was a nice surprise to have a kitchen with full refrigerator. Overall, it was adequate for a night stay.

Our stay was good; the room was clean and the hotel's location was convenient. I was disappointed with the employee that checked us in. She wasn't friendly or professional. She also demonstrated a lack of technical knowledge because she was unable to provide us with WIFI access. When I called her back from the room and requested it, she said that she didn't know how to do that and hung up on me.

The handicap accessible bathroom was great! They even had a shower seat for my husband to use. The room was easy to maneuver around with his mobility scooter. Wide bathroom doorway. The sealer in the shower does need to be cleaned. Other than that, everything was wonderful. We will be staying on our next trip

Carpet is gross and the room smells awful. There are big black spots that look like throw-up down the hall and in the room. The staff would not clean my room / floors unless I had been there 14 days, nor would they let me borrow a vacuum or mop. My stay was 12 days. Room was dirty. The bathroom had an odor of sewage, the bed sheet had a blood stain. Reserved the room for 2 but was missing a secondary pillow. The office chair had a noticeable white stain. The shower head couldn't even stay in place, had tape around to somehow magically hold it together. All these issues could easily be fixed. The breakfast grab and go didn't even have a good selection, only wrapped muffins, breakfast bars and coffee out of a gas station.

My friend and I checked in Friday September 19,2025 for a quick short stay. This had been planned since July of 2025. I had booked this accordingly to the convenience of how close , safe and ratings of client reviews.. primarily how close it was to The WILLIAMS CENTER AS WE WERE ATTENDING AN EVENT OF MY PERSONAL FRIEND JIMMIE ALLEN! All I can say between been harassed by a patron staying there to hook him up with meth( which I believe personally he was an undercover agent) the filthy room ! Picture of proof too! And the fact I had a room for two adults and had to beg for a second key at check in ! Was a joke! NEVER AGAIN!

The room we had was pretty dated and had damage to the bathroom countertop. The place wasn’t very clean. The kitchen doesn’t have any dishes or glasses unless you ask for them. It was convenient to MetLife Stadium but I probably wouldn’t return here.

The morning staff was great, but the over night guy didnt answer the phone, didn't have any extra blankets, the soda machine was broke. The room was ok but thought it was odd that you have to request the dishes for the kitchenette. Overall was ok not too bad not that great. I would stay again but would be better prepared considering that its kinda in the middle of the beltway so not many options around which made it worst that the soda machine was down

The hotel is centrally located, many restaurants and stores nearby without needing to go through traffic. The family suite is great, as kids had their own bedroom with individual beds, and their own bathroom. Food in the hotel is good, many options available. The service is excellent, staff are very welcoming. Hotel has free parking with restricted access.

Absolutely Disgusting Experience – Do Not Stay Here!

This was hands-down the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The rooms are filthy and smell terrible—our room reeked of smoke despite this being a non-smoking facility. The elevator smelled like cat urine, which matched the overall dirty feel of the place.

On the second night, water started leaking from the bathroom wall and flooded the floor. When I complained, the front desk staff actually made us clean it up with the towels meant for our showers, and then told me if I wanted clean towels, I’d have to bring the soaked ones down to the lobby in exchange! The woman was standing in the room looking at the water on the floor and still refused to help. I don’t get paid to clean up their maintenance issues.

To make things even worse, after we checked out, they charged us $266.67 for a smoking fee, claiming they had “proof” we smoked there. Why would I rent a non-smoking room, complain about how bad it smelled for two days, and then smoke in it? It’s ridiculous.

This place is a complete dump with zero customer service. I would never stay here again and I strongly warn others to avoid this location.

In my fifty years of travel I’ve never had a less welcoming, rude and inhospitable hotel staff. From a completely rude check in, miserable looking manager who made you feel unwelcome just by looking at him, no ice in the building, not a single glass in a room with a kitchenette or their refusal to be able to print a single page for us, although the room was nice enough, this hotel’s staff made this one of the least welcoming and enjoyable hotels I’ve ever visited.

Room smelled like cigarette smoke even though it's a non-smoking facility. The bed only had 3 pillows for 2 people as well as a thin blanket and when we requested another one of each (on different occasions)we were told they didn't have anymore. Same situation for towels. You get 1 bar of soap and 1 tiny single use shampoo for the shower.The accommodations were sub par.

Extremely Disappointing Stay – Noisy, Unbearable Room Conditions

We stayed for two night and were placed in 504 room that turned out to be directly above or adjacent to the hotel's laundry facilities. From late evening into the early morning hours, the entire room was filled with constant noise and vibrations every time the machines were running.

It felt like we were sleeping on top of an industrial dryer. The walls and floor literally shook, making it impossible to relax or get any sleep. We tried to wait it out, hoping it would stop—but it didn’t. It was one of the most uncomfortable and exhausting nights we’ve ever had in a hotel.

When we brought it to the attention of the front desk, the response was indifferent at best. No offer to change rooms, no apology, nothing.

For the price we paid, this level of noise and disruption is completely unacceptable. If you value your rest, I’d strongly recommend staying elsewhere—at least until they sort out this issue or stop using rooms so close to the laundry area.

I recently stayed at Extended Stay America for three nights, hoping for a comfortable and peaceful retreat after long days exploring NYC. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but pleasant, and I feel compelled to share the issues I encountered.
From midnight to 4 AM, the room was repeatedly shaken by loud vibrations caused by the hotel’s 24/7 laundry service. This made it impossible to get a restful night’s sleep, which is the bare minimum expectation when paying $500 for a three-night stay. As a traveler who spends all day out and relies on a hotel for rest, this was incredibly frustrating.
The corridor outside my room was equally appalling. It had a creepy, rotten smell that lingered throughout my stay, and the hallways were filthy, making the environment feel neglected and unclean. This added to the overall discomfort of the stay.
When I raised these concerns with the staff, I was met with arrogance and indifference. The management’s response was dismissive, essentially telling me, “If you don’t like it, check out, and we’ll refund you.” This lack of professionalism and unwillingness to address the issues was shocking and unacceptable for a hotel of this price range.
For anyone looking for a peaceful, clean, and welcoming place to stay in NYC, I strongly recommend avoiding Extended Stay America. The disruptive noise, unclean conditions, and rude staff made this one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Save your money and find somewhere that values its guests.

This Hotel is ridiculously dirty. Smells like mold, feces, urine and anything else you can think of. The bed sheets were clean, although the pillows had a disgusting smell. The receptionist at the front desk was extremely rude. This location is stark. The staff are quite good,and friendly. But there was often trash in the hallway leading to the elevators. Cigarette burns on the walls of the elevators and on the counter in our room. Curtains were inoperable. Our last night was totally disrupted by a fire alarm at 12:30 a.m. No fire located. Needless to say all guests had very little sleep that night. I recommend someone from corporate visit this site soon. Complimentary coffee, etc. was meager at best.

I will never return to this place, the room they gave me smells like curry. I asked to change they said we are fully booked which is bs because the one person staff did not feel like working. I wanted ice he said there is no ice machine on property. I went to the room to pour me a drink there were no plastic cups as you would expected. I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my experience related to my reservation through Hotels.com at Extended Stay America – Rutherford, NJ (750 Edwin I. Ward Sr. Memorial Hwy) on April 23–24, 2025. I booked through Hotels.com for my brother, his wife, their 9-year-old autistic child, and my sister’s 10-year-old son to visit the American Dream Mall. Upon calling the hotel directly to request a two-bed room, I was told changes had to go through Hotels.com, though two-bed rooms were available. When Hotels.com attempted to assist, your team was unable to reach the property. On April 24, despite multiple calls, no confirmation of the room change was received. At check-in, the front desk said two-bed rooms were available but could only be booked online. After further issues, I contacted Extended Stay Guest Relations directly, who created a new one-night reservation for a room with two beds, but the desk staff at the hotel remained uncooperative. The front desk agent escalated the situation without cause and refused to extend the stay, even after I remained calm and respectful. Ultimately, I was forced to seek alternate lodging at another hotel. I request Hotels.com investigate this matter thoroughly, review communications related to Hotels.com’s attempted contacts with the Rutherford property, and take corrective action. This experience caused major inconvenience and undermined trust in Hotels.com’s partners and service quality.

I would not recommend using Hotels.com first of all.
1. Got to the hotel at 3:15 pm; check-in was 3:00 pm.
2. Booked 2 rooms. Would not give the 2nd room to us because I wanted to change the name for payment. I wanted to pay for both rooms. I had ID, and the person whose name it was on the room had ID.
3. The receptionist said the hotel can't change a 3rd party's booking to their own hotel.
4. Had to call Hotels.com. 1st time on hold and got hung up on. 2nd attempt hung up on again. Finally 3rd time got through. Finally, after 30 minutes was able to get the room name changed via a hotel.com phone call, providing no ID.
5. 3:00 was check-in. Able to get into 1 room.
6. No cart for luggage; no offer to help from staff.
7. The receptionist at 3:45 pm stated the 2nd room was not ready yet, even though check-in was at 3:00 pm. She stated the room would be ready in 15 minutes and would call me in the other hotel room.
8. She never called me in that room, and at 4:50 pm, I had to go down to the front desk and inquire. She stated she was just notified the room was ready.
9. Now my children and I are late for our dinner party. With no apologies.
10. No conditioner. No extra towels.
11. The hotel floors and rooms smelled like old smoke.
12. The dust and smell caused my kids' allergies to be uncontrollable.

The entire 5th floor smelled of dog feces and urine. Staff did NOTHING to fix the smell which permeated the entire floor. It was a joke among everyone on the floor. One guest put a plugin in the hallway. The entire place is FILTHY and I mean FILTHY. The 5th floor carpet was not vacuumed the entire 3 weeks I was there, my room not cleaned, probably lucky because I clean better than they do. The only GOOD THING about this place is the location. If you can find alternative accommodations please do because this place is a pig sty and that is an insult to my porcine friends.
