Did not get a response to my emails prior to my arrival to get airport pick up had to take a taxi

Minimal English speaking at the resort use Google translator
Even with the translator, there were some confusion about what I was asking

The included breakfast was nowhere that I could see or find
There was a carafe copy that was very cold
No one greeted me when I went over to instruct me as to where I would have breakfast once again no Comprende was usually the response even with my translator

I had ceviche for lunch every day. It was delicious.
There was no water in my five days I received two bottles of water

My room was cute, quaint, clean, and surprisingly, although it is surrounded by lots of trees vines and thatch there were no bugs!

The resort itself was exactly what I was looking for quaint organic. There’s a little pool as we enter to the resort on the right hand side, which is where I did most of my swimming it was clean and pretty and quiet.

The remaining pools typically had leaves and debris in them

I found my own way back to the airport to depart

Beautiful location, safe neighborhood. Rustic, open air accommodations. Very affordable compared to other options in the area. The staff were incredible. Pascal was so considerate and went above and beyond; he truly would do anything to help and was just so incredibly kind.

The lodge was very rustic and sort of charming. However, it could use some serious TLC. The room we stay in was in serious need of repair and furniture. The pool and jacuzzi were not in working order. The food cooked for us by their cook was fabulous! The bar and bartender staff were very nice! The breakfast was good as well. The best part was the “wild” beach and dinner by it! My friend and I had a great time! A night or two there would be recommended.

Avoid This Place – Terrible Experience All Around

I strongly advise against booking this hotel. From the moment I arrived, it was clear this place is not as advertised. There was nobody in the lobby to greet me, and I was awkwardly asked to sign paperwork with no explanation or assistance. The room had electrical issues, so they had to bring in a floor fan – definitely not the experience I expected.

The rules here are absurd. There are strange signs everywhere telling you what you can’t do – no eating or drinking in the room, which is just unreasonable. And the room itself? Absolutely basic, with nothing but a bed. No welcome water, no amenities – I’ve never stayed in a hotel that doesn’t offer a simple bottle of water upon arrival.

The cleanliness is horrifying. The first thing I saw when I walked in was animal waste on the mat by the door. Inside, the place was no better. The bathroom was disgusting – urine stains on the toilet, a broken toilet, and everything smelled moldy and mildewy. This is not a lodge, it’s a filthy disaster. And to top it off, you’re not allowed to flush toilet paper, so imagine having to put it in a bin that wasn’t emptied. I couldn’t even sleep properly here; I only used the room to change clothes.

The staff were amazing making sure we were comfortable, I went with a family members. My daughter ended up getting sick and above and Beyond to make sure we got medication for her. They were so attentive it was impressive, it was definitely an experience, There isn’t much entertainment they do have horseback riding, Bonfire deck that you could jump off to tje pool. I’ll definitely come back.

Primacy butn Again they were above and beyond with the menu and service they will cook anything. They on the spot for you. If you have any special request, the menu is pretty much the same every day.

I was placed in a diffetent room from the one i had reserved. And on arrival I was asked to pay by using zelle or by making a deposit to a bank account. I was told they could not accept credit/ debit cards wich i found very suspicious.

Sad to see the manager was only concerned about getting paid for the extra family members that joined me and not in making sure his clients had a great experience. He seemed to be a bossy person as he appeared to be upset at the secretary for some reason. Aside from the check-in tensions, my family and I Ioved the wooden houses and cleaningnes of the facility. Playing volleyball at the beach was fun, and there were two pools where you could relax with your loved ones.

Welcoming and cool place.

I have never stayed in a place like this. One of the walls is gone and it is basically an open window facing the sea.

The staff are friendly and feel like a family and I a welcome guest in their homes.

I liked it so much I stayed a couple more nights and would come back if I came back to Dominican Republic.

Overall it was a different experience from previous places. It was so relaxing and soothing the sound of the waves splashing al day long. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food was okay could be better. First person to encounter before checking in was the owner, not so talkative or welcoming but overall it’s an eco friendly place and relaxing.

This place probably was good a one time but has fallen into disrepair. Missing staff and exposed electrical wires in the sand that anyone could step on. Many things needed to be repaired around my room and this tired place. Linens and beds are not good. Very disappointed. Recommende next door if tou want any customer servuce.

This place is so relaxing! Marc and Carolina were very humble and welcoming from the start. But, the owners wife wasn't so friendly. Kinda of threw us off a bit. We were surprised to see so many pets on the property but we didn't mind at all.

The little staff they had was very nice. Just not very attentive. Breakfast was always good 👍

Everything was fine. The menu needs more options and the sliding door had no lock!!!!! I’m not one one to write many reviews but Expedia should had better communication with this venue so we didn’t have to wait so long and the room still wasn’t ready. I waited for seemed like forever and still slept in the lower level with no lock on the sliding door! I was very frustrated after long flight and no sleep due to being paranoid. I was told someone would help buy until I reminded them 4 times to fix/install lock the next afternoon it was done by the time i returned from excursions. Overall place is cute and staff are nice. Just not organized

The location is quiet in Perla Marina as opposed to resorts in Cabarete. With car i found it very convenient to town. I LOVED the rustic open-air treehouse with surf crashing. Sleeping under mosquito netting not a problem. They are making some upgrades but found it lovely and staff really great. I would highly recommend for the traveller who enjoys staying out of the fray in a pretty unique setting. I hope to return

The place is as advertised, so as long as an Ecolodge is what you want, it's nice. While there is electricity, running water and AC available, rooms are basic, just a bed, a nightstand and some shelves, and the bathroom. No TV, fridge, or water cooler, which is one thing that would have been nice (don't drink tap water in DR). The pool is ok, and there are nice places to hang out or eat right over a small cliff with the waves crashing right below, which is really relaxing. The private beach is right in front and is fine for sunbathing, but is rocky in the water and the waves are choppy, so not ideal for swimming. The staff is nice and the restaurant serves basic food but pretty good overall.

Be aware this is an isolated resort. There is another restaurant at the one other resort right next to it, and a pizzeria and a mini-mart at the entrance from the main road, which is probably a 15 minute walk. If you want any variety beyond that, you need transportation. Uber is available and inexpensive if you have cell data there, or they will call a cab for you. Be careful renting cars, they are super cheap at the airport, but they force you to buy their insurance there, which is not cheap. Sosua is 10 min west, with nice beaches for swimming and a touristy downtown with bars and restaurants and casinos (lots of prostitutes though). Cabarete is 10 min east, and has a great strip of restaurants right on the beach, by Kite beach, which is also very nice.

Loved, loved, loved the Ecolodge Maravilla!

The Ecolodge Maravilla was the perfect place to find serenity, natural beauty, and restorative peace. Michael, the manager from France, was fabulously helpful with recommendations, speaks excellent English, and was always ready to provide superior customer service. We LOVED the rustic treehouse accommodations, surfing at Encuentro Beach in the morning (a mere 15 minute walk down the beach), laying in the hammock on the balcony relaxing, eating the delicious complimentary breakfast, and listening to the waves lulling us to sleep at night with all of the windows open. We loved this beautiful treasure of a place so much that we extended our stay for another day two separate times and continued to reminisce about the Ecolodge throughout our vacation after leaving.

Thank you Ecolodge for being a highlight of our vacation in the Dominican Republic. Hope to be back soon :)

What a relaxed and tranquil place if you want to live in nature, with nature. Maybe only the chirping birds in the trees will keep you up at night. Don't expect luxury, the breeze from the ocean through the tree house is the natural air condition and keeps it nice cool. The staff is so nice and funny. One will forget the world around.

The room we were in was fantastic, a great getaway with a real adventurous / back to nature feel.

The staff were amazing, the manager Michael in particular went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure we had a good stay. I couldn’t praise him higher.

Everyone was friendly and helpful, would definitely return if / when I am back in the DR

Very Upsetting Experience; Oversold rooms

Basically oversold rooms n tried to deprive me of room I booked thru series of bait n switch tactics; I've stayed here b4 n wouldn't have again except I saw the treehouse penthouse with seaview was available (cool looking open-air structure in private area overlooking small pool, w glimpses of ocean n greenery as far as u can see);When I arrived, they tried to put me in a different treehouse in main pool area, which I know is noisy w music from bar, etc;Owner said he thought I would like smaller room since I was alone(Yes, I am a woman traveling alone); I asked for room I reserved, which I then got; Later, they ask me to switch rooms because a big group is coming on my last day (n thought I would be more \"comfortable\");They showed me the penthouse level of a treehouse next door, similar seaview room, so I agreed. On last day, owner asks me to 'help him out' and take another room on 2nd floor;Should have told him to go fly a kite but agree to do so in exchange for dinner - not that I need one, mind u, but am feeling helpful; I see the room n turns out he tried to give me a small box of a room w shared terrace; Even if I had known there were 2 rooms on floor (I did not) he had clearly pointed to larger terrace next to it; I told him the room was not acceptable n left irately for lunch as I'm fed up; I return n they had moved me to a room on the first floor! Called Expedia n he tells them he put me in similar room next door;Flat out lie! Didn't take any meal n left ASAP in a.m.

We booked a great room, the Giant Penthouse Crouse, but I accidentally reserved for only (2) adults. After receiving our confirmation I noticed the error and contacted Travelocity to add the correct number. I was connected to the hotel directly but due to an apparent poor connection and a receptionist that only spoke Spanish, I was not able to make the change. No problem I thought, as the room can sleep (7) and I had a confirmed quote for added adults and kids. Upon arriving we were given (3) options: 1) pay an additional $840 for the 2 nights ( which was way over the quoted added person price), 2) leave and take a refund ( not possible due to other hotel availability during peak season), 3) Stay with the the original 2 adults but take a lesser room, no partial refund. We ended up staying in our original room with the extra people and paying an additional $600 ( still a lot more than the quoted price). Other than this particular troubling treatment from management, most of us enjoyed our stay (turned out to be a little to rustic for my wife who prefers the more traditional resort vacation).

Beach meters of your room

Excellent location far from the noise of the city, All you hear are the waves. The beach is right by the hotel garden, with a surf spot that works from time to time.
The rooms are either wide open with just curtain and mosquito nets or semi opened or fully closed.
Very original and pleasant.
Service is great and very friendly. Very secure location

The rooms are nice , with great views. However the aren't completely clean (e.g. Dirty floor and hammocks smelled) and the facilities mentioned on the website don't exist. There also wasn't much food and drink available during my stay, maybe because it was off season (e.g no fish , no drinking water)

Get away from everything

This hotel is exactly what I wanted but may not be for everyone. Stayed in the tree house suite. It had an open floor plan with 2 beds and an open shower (there was a door for the toilet). There were curtains to cover but it was all open and we could hear the ocean the whole time. Our room didn't directly overlook the ocean but it was so close that didn't matter to me, and most of the other rooms did overlook the ocean.

I loved my time at this hotel, the staff was great. Our arrival was delayed by a rainstorm and we missed the dinner time but they still made us food when we got there. Very caring staff at a great place with a wonderful view. Just the get away I needed.

we were booked for 3 luxury suites we got one with no air condition and one moved to regular room they cleaned the room once after we asked them to do . what they call breakfast is very poor and the coffee pot is so dirty I could not touch the rooms is miserable the wash rooms rusty and dirty Definitely not recommended

I went with my family to welcome the New Year. The attention was very personalized and the staff very kind, so it was a very different experience in comparison with big resorts. The Manager is very approachable and willing to help us to make the most during our stay.

Gorgeous hotel on a private beach in nature

Everything was fenomenal the staff the food the eco rooms ..Istayed in the new Treehouse suite (i saw the giant penthouse also) great beds, hot water wifi nice exotic decoration..and the view of the beach oh geee what a gorgeous view from every room ..i sipped my mojito passion fruit on my balcony before grilled lobster..

The 2 pools and jacuzzi you have a jumping board ..just like Tarzan..eco trails and surfing right here ( free surf board) and at el encuentro!

Worst experience ever!!! Had to return back home!!

Since you enter the hotel it smells terrible, like if they have issues with plumbing, also the main pool was too dirty with bugs, and the water looked almost green, all around looked unsafe for kids since they had too many things not taken care or in place, not to mention the horrible service from the staff, my reservation was mixed up and they wanted to charge additional for the mistake they made. The rooms they show are not like that in real, it seems in pics you have a kitchenette and living room in your bedroom kind of a mini bucks bungalow but the reality is that is the actual kitchen they use to cook for the guests this hotel is a total scam!!!
