There were activities for all ages: aerobics by the beach, bingo, mini disco for kids, night shows, etc.
Gym was very modest. No mats, the weights were for men, very heavy.

We’ve stayed at several all‑inclusive resorts, so we generally know what to expect. This property had a few highlights, but also several things that didn’t work well for us.

Pros
• Swim‑Out Room: The room was ready on arrival, and the pool was clean and well‑maintained. The foliage had recently been trimmed very low, so it felt less private than expected.
• Friendly enough staff

Things to Know
• Room Layout: There is no table or chairs inside the room. We enjoy playing cards, and without a proper surface, our options were limited to the bed, floor, or an outdoor lounge chair. The only table-and-chair setup was by the main jacuzzi & noise.
• Noise Level: The resort is highly energetic, with music and activities running all day until about 11pm. If you enjoy a lively atmosphere, you may love this, but those sensitive to noise may find it overwhelming (even in a building close to the beach).
• Food: The food was hit‑or‑miss for us. *Mostly miss*. You also cannot take food back to your room without a major issue. You have to order from a reduced option room service menu.
• Storage: The room has limited storage—just a few hangers and two small drawers—so longer stays may require suitcase living.
• Vacation Club Invitations: Staff approached us several times to attend a presentation.

Overall, this did not align with what we were personally looking for in a resort. It would be a good fit for those who prefer to be entertained/high energy environments.

This place is an absolute gem for a romantic Valentine’s Day celebration! One of the employees, Amaury, organized a breathtaking beachside dinner that made my night unforgettable. The ambiance was enchanting, with live music and delectable cuisine. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience.

They also have a charming bar called Milwaukee, where we met a lovely girl named Deilennys (I think that was her name). Her warm and welcoming nature made everyone feel at ease. We often found ourselves spending our evenings at the bar with her during our stays at the hotel.

I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a romantic getaway. My stay at the hotel was also fantastic, and I’m already planning my next visit.

The rooms need some work. I reserved 2 rooms and both had issues. The handles of some of the drawers were loose with the screw sticking out and I had a toddler with me and was afraid of her getting a scratch. My other room had a leak on the bathroom roof. It’s sad to see the resorts in puerto plata come so short when compared to Punta Cana resorts. Additionally, my main discontent with this hotel was the fact that you staff split my party into 2 different buildings and I found myself running back and forth because in one room I had 2 elderly, one using a cane to walk and in the other room (in a 3rd floor with NO elevator) I was forced to stay with 2 small children and had to be carrying my 1 year and 5 years old children plus stroller up and down. It didn’t feel like a vacation but a huge inconvenience. Lastly, my children did not like the fact that your pool closes so early at 6 pm. Why not extend it to 7 pm?

The staff was friendly and welcoming, especially those in restaurants and bar areas. The room was OK. The air conditioner and air vent in the bathroom did not work properly and the towels were dingy. The property landscaping is very nicely done and kept up. The entertainment was good. The poor areas were fun with many activities and music. My husband and I expected more from the food. It was mediocre. There could have been more authentic Dominican foods and flavors. The breakfast was good and had many choices with eggs made to order. The beach bar was very good. Not sure if we would make a return trip here.

When arriving staff was polite and helpful getting us checked in and to our room. My room had numerous issues, safe not working which was taken care of on arrival day. Sliding door off track and not opening took 2 days to get fixed. Bathroom toilet not functioning properly and leaked on floor. That took 5 days to get fixed after complaining everyday to the cleaning staff and front desk. Frustrated, after I was told not to put toilet paper in the toilet, asked to speak to a supervisor who came to the room, pulled the toilet out and reset it to the floor.
Pool area and beach was nice. I was surprised only one bar for whole beach area. Could use one on each end.
The buffet staff was just OK. Not attentive to customer service very single focused. Most mornings for breakfast had to get up and find our own water glasses and water.

We were disappointed even before arriving when finding out that they do not offer an airport shuttle despite both Expedia and the resort's Instagram saying they do. The resort was a good size and we enjoyed having our own pool and bar as part of the Adults Only expereince, but there were a few things that made our stay not as enjoyable as we hoped. The wifi would keep disconnecting and when it was conected it was weak. The buffet food was not good and lots of people said they got sick. For our room specifically (12211) the door battery kept dying so we would have to hike back to the front desk to tell them and then hike back to our room to wait in the hall for someone to come fix it. This happened three times during our 5 day stay. There is a jucczi on the deck but not only did it take forever to fill up, there was only cold water. Being at the end of the hall meant that when it would rain, water would come in under our door. The shower wouldn't drain well and the water ended up overflowing into the rest of the bathroom. The tolet seat was broken. The maids would take our towels but not replace certain things like the bathmat or the pool towels, so it was a run around to try and get those back. Outside of all the issues with our room, the beach was a great place to spend some time.

This hotel is in need of renovations. The drawers in the room are broken. The laminate on the vanity is bubbling and coming off.
The staff were not attentive and we had to carry our bags to the rrom ourselves. This isnt entirely true. There was an attendant willing to helpnus to our room until he wanted to sell us a time share. When we said no he left our bags pointed us to our room and left us in the middle of the path.

— It’s centrally located in Puerto Plata and close to POP airport.

— the food is very hit or miss. If you are Dominican

The ugly:
—Many of the staff do not seem mindful of hospitality basics. Particularly I notice that many of the female staff are very short with women.

— The toilet seat in the room does not fully cover the seat of the toilet. We had two rooms and both were like this. Because the toilet seat was too small for the toilet, you are sitting on the cold bare toilet when you use the bathroom. There may as well have been no toilet seat.

the facilities def need improvement and more staff they seem not as many for the amount of people at buffet. the food was great seasoning but the layout of buffet and lighting of the room did not make it appealing at all. Also the bars did not have real liquors very small selection of rum. We could have had an awesome experience if the beach had beach service instead of so many beach sellers.

I have been to many all inclusive’s but this had to be the worst one! From check in the customer service was horrible! Elisa at customer service? Bad attitude. The staff just was not what i’m normally used to. They were not friendly and not looking to help you. We got harassed by someone looking to give us a demo of their “elite club”. I don’t remember his name but he stopped us and said he needs it for commission. He did not let us leave until we gave him our info. We gave him the wrong contact number and the next day at breakfast he was waiting in front of the buffet entrance door and telling us to go to their meeting and calling us by our names. The food was so bad!! My boyfriend and his sister got stomach sick very bad the entire stay at the resort from the nasty food. The restaurants you need reservations for and we tried to book them early as soon as we checked in and they had none for our group! literally not one reservation so we had to always eat at the buffet. If you are not one of their elite members forget it! The rooms and resort in general are outdated and rotting and falling apart! The room lock was broken, tables at the buffet were broken and wobbly, the ceilings had cracks and falling and leaking. Our sink was falling down, when we put something on it rolled right off because the sink was uneven and they put a replacement holder instead of fixing it. Never would come back or recommend. Roberto was the only staff that worked hard and gave amazing service.

This isn't my first time at this hotel; previously, the service was excellent. This time, however, it was the complete opposite. Starting with Eliza, the person in charge of making a restaurant reservation, she was incredibly rude and had absolutely no desire to help us. Incredibly, the only person who made us feel welcome was Roberto, one of the waiters who works at the buffet. The rooms are run-down, and even the food quality isn't the same. Sadly, it wasn't a good experience. I don't recommend it.

The elevator was not working so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. nothing functioned including the frig, no help; The main floor of building 12 where we stayed was wet and I slipped and fell and injured my right shoulder , my wife had to help me up as no one available saw a doctor there who informed me that I had to see the ship doctor ( we were going on a cruise) which cost me $445 US and my shoulder still pains and I've sought medical attention in Toronto - truly a bad experience

Found a roach in the room. Staff follows you until you sit for what it should have been 90 minutes to 3 hours and 30 minutes to sell you a vacation package with a premium of a minimum $50,000. We visited for 3 days, we wanted to enjoy every moment but we felt guilty if we didn't attend because the staff would not get paid, as per the staff.

We had a wonderful stay at Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata. The resort is beautiful, the rooms were clean, and the whole atmosphere felt very welcoming. We especially enjoyed the Italian and Mexican restaurants — both were delicious and had great service.

One of the highlights for our family was how kid-friendly the resort is. Our children loved playing football and tennis, spending time at the kids club, and enjoying the beautiful beach. It made the whole trip so easy and relaxing for us.

A very special thank you to Rosa from Guest Services. She helped us so much with everything we needed and truly went above and beyond. If you ever need anything, just talk to Guest Services — they were extremely friendly, much more than in many other hotels we’ve experienced. Rosa made our stay even more enjoyable, and we are very grateful for her kindness.

Highly recommend this hotel for families and anyone who wants a peaceful, friendly, and enjoyable vacation.

After reading both positive and less stellar reviews, we were pleasantly surprised. Dinner at the Italian and mexican restaurants were excellent. Staff were, for the most part, excellent. For the price, we found it to be a good value. Our concierge who took care of arrangements on-site fornus was excellent.

What a catfish. 0/10, I was getting married in the area and thought this would be a decent place for my guests to sleep but what a disaster. The rooms are so old, worn and broken down and on top of that 5 rooms that were booked had issues. Mosquito ingestion that they had to call a fumigator for, dirty, broken ac’s. And the service was even worse, they refused to give a pregnant women a new room with a functioning until 9:45pm when we back to complain for a 5th time. Their attitude is unmatched, it’s as if we’re bothering them by being at the hotel. The rudest were one of the guys in the front desk and the girl from guest services. Stay literally anywhere else, I don’t know how these reviews are so high.

I was expecting a good service, but that was the last thing I received. The restaurants were closed only the buffet was open. The employees didn’t do any effort to make us feel that we were on vacation instead they were rude and only 3 of the employees were nice to us. Horrible service overall and I would never recommend anyone that I know to visit that place. A lot other customers felt the same way as I was in the pool 2 ladies came to my and asked me to translate for them that they wanted a drink and the bartender say they need to get out of the pool and come over to the other side if they want a drink. That was terrible to the point that I felt so bad that I got out of the pool and went to get the ladies a drink my self when I wasn’t working there. But i just thought if they were my family I wouldn’t like anyone to have that nasty attitude with my grandparents. I hope someone do something about it. Because I went to guess service and complained and nothing was done.

Never coming back!! I don’t go on vacation to be treated like that. That place is over priced (bad service) and charging a lot of money.

Let me start off by saying I rarely post a review. I’m a business owner and it really sucks to get a bad review so if it’s really not that bad, I don’t post about it. I just chalk it up to bad circumstances and leave it alone. However, this was quite possibly the worst resort we have ever stayed at. From the moment we walked in the door. There was an insane amount of sales pressure to purchase a timeshare of some sort at this property. If I was trying to sell a timeshare, I would make sure the property was clean adequately staffed, and comfortable for paying guests. When we first walked into the room, it was clean overall, but very old, tons of mosquitoes flying around the room, and the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept in. Prior to our arrival I requested to not be placed next to families that had children and paid for an upgraded room that would allow for such accommodations. We booked a swim out room and our neighbors had five children. The term “swim out” is very deceiving. You share one very small pool with the ground floor neighbors. This is not a pool that connects to the rest of the resort. The photos of this resort overall are very misleading. I promise you it does not look like that when you get there and you will be highly disappointed. Dinner is a whole other story again if you wanted your guest to purchase a timeshare, wouldn’t it make sense that dinner reservations were made for them at arrival. Firstly, the room had a musty smell and was outdated. The air conditioner was leaking water, and the room flooded while I was sleeping. The glass doors of the bathtub were damaged, and I was afraid they might come loose and fall on me. Lastly, and worst of all, I found some insects in the bed which is absolutely unacceptable.

This experience was extremely disappointing, and I do not believe the service or conditions reflected what I paid for. I would like to request a refund as this was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel.

This is my favorite hotel on the northern coast of DR! In addition to the five star amenities, easy access to the beach and comfort of the rooms, the staff are amazing! Especially Orlando and Emeily at the reception desk, Carlos the bell hop, Chemy at Oak, Luis at the breakfast buffet and Águila in security!
