The place is small but in a good way. This is not for kids. For couples or group of adults. Everything is close to walking distances. They have two big pools. One with a bar. Partying, music. Cross over a few steps over you don't hear anything. By the spa area it's quiet and it has a small pool. Can relax if not into the nose. Walking distance to the beach. The beach is great. Clear water, the floor is is nice to walk on the beach. For honeymoon or anniversary. It's a great place for couples to connect.

The Resort is great but is in Need of Renovation and restoration ASAP . WiFi does not work in the room . Besides that the Staff are really nice and The Breakfast is TOP TIER. I would recommend this Resort To Any Couple. There are also Shows every night. Great place to spend time with Partner while relaxing .

Muy pobre el servicio,el personal te veía y te ignoraban,incluso aun dando propina,no te miraban,ni un Hola decían para no atendernos.
El cuarto un desastre,no funcionaba bien el aire acondicionado,la sra de la limpieza(bien,amable).
El buffett y los restaurantes demasiado limitado,y a veces mal preparadas.De verdad MUY MAL SERVICIO AL CLIENTE,HORRIBLE.

The resort is nice overall. It is a bit dated. Staff was excellent. Food is good and the specialty restaurants were very nice. If you prefer a luxury resort with all the bells and whistles this is probably not a fit for you. If you want to relax and enjoy a nice smaller resort you are home. Enjoy your stay. Happy travels.

Not worth the money. An okay resort, but the rooms are very dated and in desperate need of TLC. Cracked bathroom tiles, no working ceiling light, the list goes on…

Not a mosquito-free resort (regularly bitten even with mosquito repellent on).

The food was okay, quite repetitive (especially the deserts). If you don’t eat early by the end of service the food is stone cold, no signs of food temperature being regularly checked (got food poisoning once or twice). Advertising 3 a la carte restaurants is somewhat untrue, with two alternating (Italian + seafood), and sometimes only 1 being open. Italian + seafood seem to serve 90% frozen food- very disappointing considering the sea-side location. I was served seafood pasta clearly out of a freezer bag and beef carpaccio mostly un-defrosted.

Cocktails were often lukewarm, on occasion they were okay (with a bit of luck), some cocktails were heavily simplified.

Most staff were very friendly, with a few noticeably exceptions.

If the resort was managed better (better staff training etc.) and some capital was injected into the rooms the resort would have so much potential.

The whole experience was so amazing. Every single person was so helpful, patient, and kind. Everyone was more than happy to help. The lobby staff were also beyond accommodating from the moment we arrived. The property is gorgeous, and makes it feel like you’re in a small town. The pools are all clean and have plenty of seating areas for tanning/lounging. The food was also so good. We altered between the restaurant options: Italian, Chinese, and Seafood (one open per night) and the buffet. There was genuinely something for everyone. The buffet also had themed nights for the dinner portions. We ended up going to the BBQ night and the Mexican night (our fave). It’s also very quiet and peaceful. Perfect for relaxation and unwinding. There are bars all over the property, so you’re never too far from a good time. The beach was a minute walk from our room, and felt private despite being open to the public. Our room was clean and comfortable, and had all the necessary amenities. Someone comes to change the towels and clean once a day. It was a wonderful experience and I’d recommend it to anyone. We will definitely be back!! Thank you BlueBay!!

It wasn’t a good experience. The pool closes at 7pm, the food wasn’t good and the front desk (I wish I got his name) is rude. If you’re disabled don’t even bother going there because they won’t help you. I wouldn’t recommend this place. Out of all the staff I have came cross with only three was nice. I work in customer service and I take that very serious. Don’t waste your money.

Being a hotel manager. I tend to really look at hotels from a different view. I saw this property because it was inexpensive for my trip I as taking for a few days. As I arrived. The greeted me with open arms. It was nice. A welcome drink and wet towel.

I didn’t have to wait long for our room or so I thought. I was checked into a room that was literally dirty. The housekeeper just started to clean the room. So I had to put my bags in the closet until she finished. A bad start because I wanted to shower after traveling all morning. I told the desk about the room but they told me this would be a better room compared to what they had an available which was a room with two beds. I decided to wait for the room with the king bed.

Once I got into the room 30 minutes later. I noticed the room was out dated… I went to shower and the shower head was broken and had to use the wand to shower. Making it annoying to have to hold. I just stayed because I didn’t want to change rooms and I was tired!

The customer service was good from most staff. Others were just okay…

The food is mediocre at best.. the restaurants were okay.

The amenities were okay too. Gym could’ve been better! Entertainment was decent. Not much else to do. Only drink, no TV areas besides the bar but that tv is small… no gift shop for snacks, drinks or anything…

I’d suggest spending a few more dollars for something better!

The restaurants, the buffet were very good, the staff very friendly, the property grounds are well kept and clean, the beach is amazing, and that’s about it. The entertainment wasn’t good, most of the the beach chairs were broken and old, and there weren’t enough for all the guests. We had to wake up early (6am)to go and reserve 2 beach chairs otherwise we wouldn’t have any, and by 6 am most chairs were already taken.The bed was uncomfortable, the bathroom was small and very outdated, the closet doors didn’t close all the way, there was no dresser. The room was just very old and just patched up over the years. Definetely a turn off. We’re been to Puerto Plata many times and always had wonderful things to say about every property we stayed in. Hopefully Blue Bay Villas will step it up for the future.

All of the food was good, but the service was inconsistent. The bar was frequently backed up, and waitstaff were often unavailable. What’s surprising is that I visited 15 years ago, and my mom was there 20 years ago—yet nothing seems to have changed. The buildings are aging, and the rooms feel outdated.

Overall it was a nice trip, but nothing amazing. The staff was super kind and helpful but activities are lack luster and not fun. Seating at beach and pool is intense and you need to be up early to claim and people will even do it the night before. The food was good and dinner would rotate cuisines each night but breakfast and lunch were always the same. The beach was definitely the best and it’s a nice section of water to swim in compared to some of the spots further down on the beach. It’s also definitely an older population so if you are young, don’t expect many others lol. It’s nice for bare minimum budget resort but nothing crazy about it.

The gym needs an update no treadmill and what’s in there doesn’t turn on.
Towels are hard to exchange get to the exchange place right on time or you will be using your towels for days!
Not enough umbrellas at pools if you are looking for shade you won’t be getting it at this pool.
The staff is very friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay and the food was good.

I was searching for all inclusive adults only resort and this showed up on the list. I saw the some videos on Tik Tok and was sold. We got there and the whole staff were accommodating and friendly. The rooms were very simple. The only thing I didn’t like was the hand held shower head (it kept coming off)and they didn’t have enough lounge chairs that people were fighting over them. Both at the poolside and beach. Overall the food and alcohol were great. The staff was working VERY hard. Please don’t overlook and take care of them by tipping.

This is a Three star resort with four star staff. The rooms are basic and dated but adequate. The food is good, Not great. The Italian restaurant is very good. The Chinese restaurant is very bad. There are only a total of three umbrellas around the two main pools. The beach is very nice. There are a Lot of smokers! You can escape them at the quiet pool by the spa which is a non smoking area. The gym is laughable. There's one workout bench with a decent assortment of dumbbells. One barely functional Elliptical machine and a broken Exercise Bike. The WiFi is very spotty with no coverage in most rooms. The signal seems to be strongest near the quiet pool. The resort is about a 20 minute drive from the airport.

Room was as requested and not humid.
Food was just ok.
Staff was just ok and just present not going above and beyond without too many smiles.
Property in “desperate” need of upgrading since our last visit 7 years ago.
Beach is in a desperate need of an uplift and looks dilapidated.
Many lounge chairs needing to be replaced throughout and more to be added.
No umbrellas at the main pool areas whatsoever.

Charged 20$ USD for late check out after husband became violently ill from food poisoning 3 days after myself and 3 other individuals in our complex. People were falling ill throughout the whole resort when speaking to folks. Hotel told me it was a 24 hour flu.

Staff working around the resort with blaring two-way radios and speaking very loudly with no consideration to those in the quiet pool area.
Coffee machine in above location wasn’t working for a week and when it was it ran out of milk, coffee and hot chocolate before the end of the day. Most staff serve themselves which is fine but then paying guests don’t have the service because it’s refilled only the next day accompanied with a plate of cookies for all to enjoy.

Would I go back … most likely not bit price point can’t be beat IF you know what to expect.

The refrigerator didn’t work.. they only gave out one face cloth to Wash up with.. the shower drain was clogged up…didn’t drain properly..one day we didn’t have any hot water in our building #2… they only had sheets on the bed, no comforter.. they painted the roof in building two, and when I came back from outside, there was all type of dirt debris all over my room in the bed in my suitcase… if you booked this resort, ask them not to put you in building two It wasn’t a good experience at all.

It is obvious that the 4 star or higher reviews are either fake or paid for because Blue Bay is a complete dive. The rooms are disgusting and the room you see online is clearly a model room only. The door keys seem to reset at midnight and we had to get a new key literally every day.

The food is truly gross and the only saving grace is the fresh salad. The alcohol is local and if you want actual good alcohol you have to pay for it.

The staff is rude save maybe two which is surprising given these people work for tips. If I could give a negative rating I would, it was a waste of time and money and we will never return. The entire place needs to be shut down and go through a full mold remediation and remodel.

We stayed there from 12/07 to 12/13. The staff was super friendly and they’re working hard! Everyone is smiling and trying to help you. The rooms were cleaned everyday
Entertainment shows were great and fun!
Overall great resort.
The ceiling fan needed to be fixed and the staff member fixed it the same day within an hour,
Cute little resort , adults only. Would highly recommend it to my friends.

While our overall stay was nice and I would rate the accommodations as average, we had a HORRIBLE experience as we were leaving. After checking out, a staff member asked us when our transfer would be arriving to pick us up. I informed him that I had just ordered an Uber and it was on the way. He then told me that the hotel didnt allow Ubers to come pick up guests. They had taxis waiting for those that needed them outside. Well, these taxis charge $35 per ride to the airport while an Uber costs about $5. So we happily said that we would simply walk off the property to meet our Uber. This staff member said, well you can try. As soon as we walked across the street, two taxi drivers got out of their cars and began calling to us to come with them. We politely said no thank you. One man came over to us and asked if we had ordered an Uber. I said yes. He then stated that Ubers would not pick up there. It was taxi only. We stated that we were fine and that we would walk to meet our driver. At this point another driver came over and began trying to convince us that Ubers would not come to pick us up. At this point our driver arrived and this man literally got into his taxi and blocked our Uber while another taxi driver blocked the back of his car! He then came and began harassing our driver telling him that he wasn't allowed to take us to the airport. They refused to let us move until my husband said he was calling the police. The hotel should care more about the safety of guests. :(

This was my second time going to Blue Bay in 3 years. Love the staff and love the peace. The food is great, but they definitely limited the quality of drinks. They now have a “premium bar”. Most likely due to the tourism changes in the past years. BUT other than that, clean beach, pool and the staff are all super respectful and hospitable.Will continue to return.
