Old and in need of repair

San Anton is ideally located for shops, restaurants and historic sites, however, it is in poor condition. Smokey room in a non-smoking hotel had two of our group changed to other rooms. Another had hair on the shower floor. We'll gladly go back to Granada, but we won't be returning to San Anton.

Needs a facelift

San Anton is ideally situated for city center restaurants and the Alhambra, however it is dated and needs a definite facelift. A smoke-smelling room (in this tobacco-free hotel) got use a change of room, and hair on the bathroom floor and breadcrumbs on the desk got two others of our party a room change. We later discovered the smoke came from one of the cleaners. On the whole, convenient, but at what cost!!

Good location, ok hotel

Hotel is located in nice area. Close to city center, restaurants and shopping. We enjoyed the rooftop restaurant for a relaxing evening drink and to watch the city lit up at night. Hotel needs upgrading though. Rooms a bit dated, stuck in the 70's, but served our purpose. The lobby was big and could possibly use a nice bar/cafe so that guests can grab a snack in the am. The pool on the rooftop was a fun escape for our kids to take a break from sightseeing.

It's a n older hotel, but offers great family rooms, 2 bedrooms and views of the bcity. An easy stroll into the centre and across the road from all sorts of shops, cafés, bars and restaurants. Had to pay for parking, €15 a day, but that was for an unlimited in/out ticket, so we used the car to drive up to Alhambra and around the area and simply parked it again at night time. Very convenient and cost effective, versus taxis etc. Slept well, beds a little clunky but overall a good hotel for the money.

Ok, for a short stay

Good location, walking distance to the CBD and many other touristy places. Rooms were small with not much spare room around the bed. The bathroom could use an upgrade, I don't believe bidets are necessary in this day and age and take up a lot of unnecessary space. The showers were small and the concrete wall in them restrictive and darkening - glass sliding shower doors would be much more appropriate. The most disappointing was the fact that there was no bar/mini fridge - something I consider as a minimum inclusion in most hotels these days. This proved slightly problematic for me as I have medication that needs to be refridgerated. On our last two nights, a school group was booked on the same floor with seemingly no adult supervision so the noise was both irritating and disrespectful to the other guests. The free wifi was very temperamental and was only available some of the time.

The pluses - the location. The view and bar from the roof top cafe. A very nice cafe/restaurant called LOFT, just down the road which soon became our local.

Pleasant hotel convenient to the city centre by fo

Pleasant hotel within easy walking distance of the city centre. Rooms were comfortable and clean without being luxurious. Air con was a must and worked well. Didn't use the restaurant so we can't comment on the food nor did we use the 8th floor bar although the views of the Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada were fantastic. The hotel provides parking in an adjacent commercial underground carpark. We booked the hotel room + 24 hour parking which was very convenient.

Gorgeous rooftop terrace with panoramic view city.

The staff at the hotel will make a reservation for you to see the Flamenco dancing in the caves with a bus that will pick you up and drop you off at the hotel. Great excursion!

People in this hotel have no sense of service.

Alhambra palace is the most important tourist attraction. This hotel is poorly located for that. We had problem with phone not working and after reporting they did not do anything. The rooms congested and does not appear clean. Lobby is big but poorly decorated. I should have chosen Hotel Alhambra.

Great location and viewing points on roof. Free parking is a bonus, other hotels were charging upto 18 euro a day otherwise. Basic room, breakfast buffet to a good standard. Hotel is more like a 3 and half star than a 4 advertised. Would recommend. Helpful staff

We were actually stunned by view of city and river at this hotel but it wasn't enough to make up for poor condition of rooms. First room my wife and I had, the bathroom door didn't even close! Front desk staff quickly relocated us to another room! Hotel is simply too dated for our liking!

Excellent for families

There's no doubt the hotel is tired and dated....but it is comfortable and excellent value in a good city centre location. We booked a family room which actually comprised 2 bedrooms - perfect and a great price. There is a cafe and restaurant on the top floor which has superb views over the city; a good place to grab a coffee. The hotel also has basement parking which cost €15 per day.

Certainly not 4 stars, the dated and tired feel of the reception area and room was only compensated for by the location and value.
The bathroom although functional and clean had broken tiles, decayed wood, rusty bath, and a bad layout.
The breakfast was good and the rooftop bar spectacular and well worth a visit even if you don't stay at the hotel.
The air conditioning did not cool the overly warm room.
The telephone did not work.
The bed was clean but the bed cover quite stained.
There was an empty minibar...apparantly \"for our own safety\".
The room safe was incomprehensible.
The parking and location are real bonuses, fortunately it was cheap.

fair value for money

the hotel is conveniently located. rooms are somewhat shabby, but clean. we reserved a room for 4 (parents + 2 children) and got a corner suite overlooking the river. the folks at the reception were nice and friendly. as for the breakfast - well, it was not bad, but nothing memorable. Overall - a good value for money we have paid

We didn't stay at the hotel as planned as we were so disappointed with the standard. The hotel is classed as a 4 star - not in my opinion - more like 2 -3 star. The lobby is clean but bare - no character. Only one lift was working. The bedroom was clean, dated and had a musty smell. The arm chair had a huge stain on it. The bed sheets were clean but the bed did not feel comfortable with a thin basic mattress. The bathroom was clean but again dated and the shower head was something from the sixties - about 5cm in diameter. We left our bags there while we went to find somewhere at the standard we were expecting. This did not take us long as we'd stayed in Granada before. We then cancelled our stay and moved to another hotel. The only plus for the hotel is free parking which is next door but no immediate access from the hotel. You need to go out in the street with your cases and take them down / up the steep slope into / out the car park.

Great hotel and good location

Great city hotel - very clean, lovely room with plenty of space, great bathroom. Staff really friendly. Room had fridge and safe. It also had hairdyer but it's not a good one - take your own. No rooms had balconies. Not that much wardrobe space but lots of other space and drawers for clothes etc. The pics on the website don't do it justice - it was far nicer in real life. There is traffic noise (which you can only hear if the window's open) but this didn't bother me at all and I'm a light sleeper. Hotel has fab 360 degree view from the roof terrace and there's a small pool and a bar up there too. Ask for a room on a high floor. You get free parking in the hotel's underground car park. It's 10 mins walk to Plaza Nueva so it's very near all the city life - from Plaza Nueva you're at the base of the Albaycin which is lovely to walk round and explore. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

A hotel in an excellent location within easy walking distance for Granada. Parking is available underneath the hotel, so very easy to park and go to your room if you go further afield in a car to The Alhambra from example which is about a 15 min drive away. A taxi rank is also nearby. The breakfast was good value for the choice offered. The pool is tiny and cold even in summer and I would avoid the roof top restaurant as the food was not very nice and very expensive, we only ate there as we were pushed foe time and wished we hadn't. Overall a very good hotel for the price and location.

We had a great time staying in Citymar San Anton Hotel. The location is great, hotell & staff where supreme and we really enjoyed Granada! The only bad thing we got to meantion is that the pool at the roof, it was a bit small & freezing cold. Except of that it was fantastic!

A million dollar view from the terrace restaurant but awful service. Non smoking room was a smokers room so changed rooms. Mold and smelly bathroom, AC not sufficient,staff not well trained for tourists questions such a pity for a beautiful city.

The location of the hotel was great. Supermarkets close by, a short walk to the center/Alhambra/etc.. We chose to park under the hotel,though we could have maybe have found something in the area (lots of one-way roads.. a little difficult) The rooftop is nice with great views, and the pool is shallow but ok. The decor has been luxurious a couple of decades ago. The TV was small but we didn't watch it anyway. The rooms were a good size and I'd say we had a pretty good stay.

perfect location right by river and citty center

I am not sure if we got lucky but we got a corner room with a beautiful floor to ceiling window overlooking the river. When I booked this room I thought we had 4 single beds in one room, but we ended up in a family suite with 2 rooms, each with TV and AC. We absolutely loved it there and were sad to leave after only 2 nights there. The staff was very helpful and helped us with all of our inquiries. We walked everywhere from there and fell in love with Granada. Wifi only worked in the lobby for some reason and the roof top pool was refreshing and it was also fun to have a snack and drink there. I would immediately stay here again.

Needs a bit of TLC

Got a family suite for a very good price. Good location - 15 minute walk to main centre. General maintenance of the room especially the bathroom let it down. Bathroom very tired looking and if you use the shower cubicle it floods water into the hallway and into the bedrooms. This looks like it has been hapenning for quite sometime as the doorways are rotting at the bottom. Only stayed one night so it didn't bother us too much.

Pleasant Neighborhood Near the River

Although it has a modern facade, this hotel has old-world charm on the inside. Our two-room, family-of-four suite was roomy and bright. Shopping neighborhoods are a few blocks away. Breakfast was not included with our deal but the 9 euro (per person) price was reasonable for a full self-service buffet (with everything from churros to eggs). The hotel is a 10 minute taxi ride from the train station; the desk called a radio cab for us that showed up in 3 minutes. Would definitely stay here again.

There were very roomy and comfortable family rooms (2 separate bathrooms, a hallway and bathroom). The old marble bathrooms is charming, and the terrace has a lovely view of the entire city, including the Alhambra, which is lit at night. The hotel is very conveniently located within walking distance of the Albaicin (Moorish neighborhood). and the historical district, which includes the Cathedral, where Ferdinand and Isabel I are buried.

Pleasant hotel, nice staff

Loved this hotel in a nice area of Grenada convenient for seeing the Alhambra and historic parts of the city. We stayed in a large two bedroom suite with a view of old Grenada and the Alhambra. The staff was very helpful, the room was clean and charming. Families will be delighted to have room to spread out in a spacious suite....something usually hard to achieve at an affordable rate in historic European cities. Our first evening we walked to the outskirts of tha Alhambra and back to the hotel, so it is walkable....I think it was about 20 minutes to get to the outer walls. In the morning when we had tickets to get in early though we opted to take a taxi instead. It was about 7 euros. The walk back is downhill and easy. We would definitely stay at this hotel again. Our only complaint is that while there is free WiFi in the rooms, it was very slow. Parking is available about a block away for 18 euros a day.

room was very clean even though it smelled like cigarettes and smoking is not allowed . parking is right next door and hotel is on a main street .you can walk to everything and even catch the bus up to the alhambra .there are many cafes , it has a top floor with a restuarant that you can see the complete city.

Location was great. It was within walking distance of the main attractions. The roof area had a great panoramic view of Granada. However, the service was slow. When we booked a flemenco show through the hotel, the hotel was very slow about printing out our tickets even though the show pickup had arrived. In addition, the room was very warm and uncomfortable to sleep. The hotel refused to turn the air on because it was too early. They couldn't even provide a fan. For the price the hotel was fine but the service was lame.

Cheap, good enough for a few days stay

Its definitely not a real 4 star hoel, at least not by american standards. The rooms are ugly, the tv is an old 15\" tv (a lot of the channels displayed the weirdest error messages), internet is horribly slow and there's barely any signal in the room, the bathroom door is very damaged because of water splashing into it this could be solved simply by putting a shower curtain (theres none), the bath tub itself had some oxidation signs in the edges. HOWEVER the location is good enough, the price was pretty good and the room service food was pretty good.. If you plan to go for the tourism then i would definitely book here, but just dont expect 4 star quality rooms.

Easy access to Alhambra

Great hotel and lovely staff, very helpful.
The room was simple, not noisy even though we were next to the elevator. Clean and comfortable
Car park right next to entrance, very straightforward.
We did not include breakfast but decided to use the hotel anyway. It was great, bit pricey but loads of choice and constantly refreshed.
I emailed in advance to ask about Alhambra. Although expensive we asked the hotel to include us on an organized tour as we didn't have many days in Granada. We thought it was well worth the money, we were picked up and were through the entrance by 10.30am, the guide was great. The queues later in the mid day sun did not appeal at all.
Everything was within walking distance once we got our bearings. All in all a brilliant trip

The bathroom had clearly been flooded some time ago, but no one bothered to replace the rotted doorframe. The mildew smell was almost indetectable except for the obvious water damage to the entire bottom edge of the frame and door.
The safe needed to be reprogrammed once we were already inside our room, as it was not electronically keyed to match our room key. This brought up questions of hotel security as a staff member used a key he was carrying around to program it on the spot. How many people have such a key and why was it not programmed from the front desk?

Does the Sun shine for San Anton?

We wanted to stay somewhere central within Granada and we were recommended San Anton. Indeed it is a good hotel and quite close by to city centre, 5-10 mins walk and local amenities (restaurants, cinema, bars etc...). Just remember siesta time (about 1pm-5pm) and everything is \"cerrado\" on Sundays! There is a local mercado supermarket about 5 mins walk plus ample churches should you wish to pray for a cooler day. ;o)

The rooms are not really luxury or 4* but acceptable for a short stay. The TV was a portable version and far too small to service the room unless you had special extended vision. Also the mini fridge/bar had been removed. However since we were not in room for long, this was not a really issue. The bathroom was ok but could do with sprucing up. The general decor seemed in need of a make-over but nothing functionally wrong.

I understand that the hotel will be undergoing some re-furbishment, so many of these points probably will be updated and non-existent by completion.

The hotel has a top floor (8th) restaurant and bar, which had great panoramic views of the city and sierra nevada. It also has a small circular swimming pool good for kids and a few adults to cool off.

The hotel staff are very helpful and were knowledgeable about number of buses to restaurant recommendations and general directions.

The hotel has a breakfast floor on C level and also offers free wi-fi and cheap internet access in the lobby, €4 for 1hr.

Citymar San Anton street good for shopping.

Booked a night stayed a week! Stayed in one of the bigger rooms 3 floors up on the corner in the best position overlooking the river the city and the mountains. Hotel is at the river end of San Anton St. Brilliant supermarket Mercador go right to the river turn left and walk 2 mins towards the park just before you cross the road to the park you will see the shop. Hotel hard to see if driving by so it helps to know its position. Can walk to everywhere in the centre easily. Decor old but clean. Reception very helpful. Excellent value. Great view from top terrace with small swimming pool and cafe.

Had a great family stay in a Quadruple room at the Citymar San Anton in Granada. Quite comfortable for 4 (2 connected rooms on a corner) and great service. Was about a 15-20 minute walk to the main Granada attractions but lots to see and observe on the way. The area was nice, with restaurants and just a nice experience altogether. Air conditioning worked well too - in 95 degree heat!

Yeah, maybe in the 80's this used to be four * hotel. I would give it now **.

Parking was convenient, breakfast was good but the oldness of the place was showing. The front desk was so so, the last guy when we cheked out was nice.
Ended up staying another night just for the lazyness.

Not a four star hotel

This hotel is anything but a four star hotel. It's old, delipidated and not very clean. Rooms are worse than in any oldest Super 8 hotel you can imagine. We could hear people above us, and around us. Every single move. We are not TV watchers, but you should see the antique unit that they call TV in the room. We stayed there for 2 nights and I've regreted every minute of the stay. We left tired and having not slept well at all. On a more positive note.... the views from the restaurant on the top floor are magnificent.

Very comfortable stay, in attractive surroundings. Easy to walk to centre of city and, (though hilly!) the Alhambra
and Sacromonte. Watching sunset from roof terrace is a must.

Very good quality/price ratio

This hotel has very good quality/price ratio. This hotel was the best hotel during our spain trip. It's clean, functional and in a walking distance to the tourist attraction places with very good rate. I recommend it.

Very good choice

Very clean, comfortable modern hotel. Staff was professional, knowledgeable and spoke good English. The Alhambra was a 7 Euro ride from the hotel. Some shopping and a few restaurants nearby. I would return here again. A western style room and hotel.

The Hottest Hotel in Spain even in Springtime - No Aircon in working order

I had read that the hotel temperatures were hot before booking but mistakenly assumed that this was only in the hot Summer months.

We stayed in early April when it was 20 degrees C during day and 5 degrees C in evening. The rooms were so hot it was absolutely impossible to sleep. (despite leaving windows open to try to cool the place down as aircon not in operation)

Location great - lovely cosmopolitan tapas restaurant/wine bar across the road though.

San Anton worked well for us

On vacation, touring the city. Everything was within walking distance. Staff courteous, room clean, listen to the river rushing at night. Breakfast option was pricey but good.
Would stay again.

Great place in Granada!

The hotel was great! There are lots of places to shop and eat and it's close to the Alhambra. If you're driving be sure and ask for directions - it's hard getting around in Granada. It's very close to the Congresos which is a good landmark. We traveled with our 16 year old daughter and had another separate room inside the room which was great. The view from the rooftop bar is super!

Visit to Alhambra

The meals are expensive in the hotel but everything in Spain is expensive compared to the dollar. The taxi fare to the Alhambra is about 6 euros.

From Hawaii...Great hotel, great value

Hotel was excellent. Staff extremely helpful. Roof terrace has outstanding views. Rooms very nice. Hotel very centrally located but still quiet. Walking distances minimal to most places, cabs readily available and inexpensive to the rest. Will definitely stay again. Having experienced many hotels in Granada over the decades, I was impressed. Can't go wronghere!

Good Hotel, but expected more for a 4 star.

The hotel overall was very good. Breakfast buffet was excellent. If you go and est breakfast around 10:00 a.m. it can be consider a brunch because all the things they offer. The lady in charge is an excellent hostess. The room was a little too warm for what you expect, so my recommendation is to say something about it when you register so they can give you a cooler room. The man in the front desk should be more friendly and smile.

Recent two night family stay in Granada

Great stay. Clean rooms. Small pool on the roof. Very comfortable. Had two adjacent rooms as we were traveling with small children. No complaints. Nice base to explore a fascinating city.

Dated but very convenient hotel with great service staff and very reasonable.

Buffet breakfast very affordable and complete. It was not included with our rate but it was worth the expense which was very reasonable and convenient to have.

Great price, quiet safe surroundings, a bit of a walk

The hotel exceeded our expectations for the price paid. It was in a quiet and safe neighborhood, but if your objective is to hang out in the downtown area, it is a bit of a walk ... at least 6 american city blocks distance ... which is really not an issue for our purposes. The best thing about the hotel is the cleanliness and size of the room with a floor to ceiling bay window overlooking the Sierra Nevadas. The worst part is having to use the two scenic elevators that accomodate a maximum of eighh and move at a tired snails pace. But that's a small inconvenience for the other great benefits of this hotel.
