Beautiful & historical with dedicated personne!

We are two senior Canadian couples on a road tour of Spain and Portugal. Monasteries de los Basilios Hotel was a very welcome find!
The hotel is full of history, easy to find with parking close by (about 150 metres to indoor secure lot. From reception to housekeeping and breakfast, we enjoyed our entire stay!

It was a wonderful space in an old monastery. We were very comfortable. Close to restaurants, easy to walk out we could get a cab right out front. There was an odd odor coming from the bathroom - perhaps the water in the toilet? We asked but they didn't get rid of the smell.

There is an underground parking place on the block, but says 12 euros for 24 hours parking but we pulled in at 5 pm and left at 2pm the next day and the rate was 24 euros, so don't be surprised about that.

Good 3-star hotel for short break to Granada

Enjoyed our stay here for two nights. Good location for centre of town and bus route 4 from train station. Clean, comfortable room (we paid extra for balcony although did not use it much) and good breakfast buffet.

Hotel seemed generally quiet. There is a school next door and sports pitches at rear in use throughout the day and evening until 11pm but less noise than hotels we have stayed at with an outside pool /bar area.

Very good restaurant next to front of hotel (La Cuchara) which seemed popular with locals.

Beautiful place to return

We had a very good time in this hotel, enjoyed our terrace very much. The 8 minute walk to the main tourist areas was good, relaxing after the sightseeing and made us to explore our surrounding neighborhood. The hotel is located at a river with a little park, with nice bars and restaurants very near by.

Highly recommended monastery turned into a hotel.

It was amazing! We were very comfortable. The room was clean, quiet, spacious,had a modern private bathroom and was near restaurants, walking distance to centers and things to do. The concierge was always very helpful. Loved Granada! And a very unique experience staying here!

Comfortable, clean and near conference centre.

Comfortable and well positioned. I was there for a conference and it was only a 5 min walk to Conference centre. Good cafe/ wine bar outside and a couple of good breakfast places nearby as well. It was over 40 for 2 days and some people said their air conditioning didn't keep the room cool, but mine worked fine.

Very nice place near everything

Stayed here on a local's recommendation and was satisfied with the hotel. It used to be a monastery so the amenities are basic but updated. Very clean. Wish the bed was a bit more comfortable but not that bad. The breakfast buffet was quite extensive so you will find almost anything you like. Wifi worked very well. I would stay here again.

An interesting hotel.

This was a great hotel and not too expensive (110 US dollars a night) but with few amenities. The location of the hotel is in a great neighborhood close to the cathedral (10 min walk). What I liked about it is that its connected to a church/monastery. One walks right past the front door of the church to enter the hotel; makes for an interesting stay.

No A/C in July - 100 degree heat

We stayed in July - very hot - A/C never worked in both our rooms - we changed 2 rooms in middle of night- none of the new rooms had working A/C- we were told that this was a general problem and they would be happy to pay for taxi and a different hotel. We could not relocate to a new hotel at 1 am so we stayed - no one slept. Staff is very professional. DO NOT stay here in summer - you will suffer - unless you like 100 degree heat. Parking was also very complicated to figure out - very close by but many steps to validate parking - leave extra time for this!!!

Good hotel in former monastery

The almost ideal hotel for a short stay. The room we had was nicely fitted out (including the bathroom) and beautifully clean, with spacious and comfortable twin beds. No cupboard or chest of drawers as such, but enough space to hang and lay out clothes.

Staff were charming, efficient, and very helpful. (For instance when a complication about our pre-booked Alhambra tour came up, they contacted the tour company office in Madrid for us, and we were able to sort things out.) They also gave us useful and accurate information about where to find places we asked about in Granada, for instance Turkish baths!

A minor problem is that the hotel is next to a school and its games and assembly area. From about 7.45am every weekday morning, there was therefore a fair amount of noise outside our window from young schoolchildren arriving and playing. If this would trouble you, ask for a room overlooking the inner courtyard, NOT the school. The hotel was very quiet at night when we were there. The monastery bell rang hourly during daytime, but not at night.

Very thin walls

I was on a business trip and need to get a good night sleep. I was unable to sleep since the hotel was full of teenagers staying up all hours of the night.

Limited amenities were frustrating - no dresser, no refrigerator, TV did not work until we fixed it. The bathroom was very small. You had to close the door to get to the toilet. No place for your toiletries.

The wifi was very slow on mobile devices. I could not load my e-mail. I ended up using my laptop to use the internet. It was very frustrating doing business at this hotel.

The shower head was full of mold. It needed to be replaced.

I was not impressed with this hotel.

A hotel in a monastery

The hotel has a nice court yard with a few orange trees showing its past history as a monastery. The ground floor is lined with nice tiled walls. The hotel Clark is helpful. A few steps across the river you are in the middle of the busiest street of Granada. The shuttle bus to the airport is around the corner but there are no road signs showing where it is. Use your instinct.

Very nice room for one night. Location was perfect for walking to all the sights we wanted to see in Granada in the one day we were there. Bed was comfortable and room was quite large for European standards. The hotel was willing to call and book a bath for me upon arrival at the Arab baths near the Alahambra, which was much appreciated as body was sore from all the walking. Baths were a little hard to find but I felt fabulous afterwards!

I stayed for 2 nights. Room was clean with very inexpensive furniture. Church bells can be heard hourly until about 10 at night.
Basic room. Very limited tv selection. Considering this is a hotel you would think that there would be at least one English Channel but there are none. The bathtub is about half a bath, with a shower. They do not put any notice up to let you know that the phone is not free for local calls. We got a surprise on checkout. We used the phone as the internet wifi was terrible on our second day. We had also checked the computer in the hall which did not worker any better

Just what we were looking for

A nice location just outside of the centre but 2 minutes walk away. Lovely old converted building with old looking building and modern, clean rooms. There is also a secure 24hr carpark around the corner which is 20euro for 24 hrs.

The hotel joins onto a primary school so if your room is on the inside it overlooks their playground. This means 8.30-9am they are out playing and quite noisy. This didn't bother us as we used it as an alarm clock.

We didnt have food so cannot comment.

The rooms were spotless and modern but did have a bit of a dodgy flusher on the toilet and the bath/shower leaked a bit but nothing that spoiled the visit.

Would probably stay again when we visit again.

The room was large and comfortable and the staff at check in were very helpful (in both English and Spanish). The hotel is conveniently located near an area filled with restaurants as well as a local supermarket. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Really nice hotel and room looks like web photo! Great location too. However restaurant looked awful: just white tables, bright lights, no ambience whatsoever and nasty food smell too. Couldn't face being there even though hungry, shame since menu looked good. At checkout, front desk desk guy keep talking to a young couple about tourist info for five minutes, we had a flight to catch so stressful. Surely he should ask couple to wait while we check out, so basic. Great hotel otherwise. Brian Blake

A suite for the price of a room

The room was very large and cool thanks to the air con. He hotel has a huge central foyer which it's fair to say is very impressive. The restaurant was a little lacking. The waitress seemed suprised that we wanted to use the restaurant when everyone else was using the buffet. The service was OK but not great. I just didn't want to eat with the huge school parties that seemed to be there that night. It seems it's used by coaches quite often. For the money you will not do better in Seville. The hotel is located quite a long way out of the centre but it's only a short cab ride away.

Quiet location, good room & beds

Picked this hotel as it was a monastary and therefore a bit different. Also, Granavision Alambra tours will pick you up and return you from this hotel. This hotel is 'relatively' on the edge of the manic centre so avoids driving through lots of one way centre streets. Right by the river makes a good landmark. Staff said you can walk from Alhambra to hotel in 35 minutes- this seems a very athletic time!! Street parking in short supply but can use underground public parking within 100m for 15euro for 24 hours if you pay the hotel. Reception speak good English. Rooms big. Would stay again.

The staff on reception were helpful and spoke perfect English. The rooms are spacious and clean and the beds comfortable. Although the hotel is about a 15 min walk into the center of Granada, it is in a nice area and it is easy to get to without driving through the center.

The hotel was great if a little noisy at times (there was a school group there during our stay). The rooms we immaculate and provided a great location for a short walk in to the old town (5 minutes) and on to the Alhambra (15-20 minutes to the gates of the park).

The place is a bit spartanic. But at the same time it has all the essentials and is in walking distance (15min) to the historic center.

unique hotel

Simple, clean, newly renovated room in an old monastery. Had a beautifully tiled main corridor and a courtyard with lemon trees, giving the place lots of character. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Close to a canal and fountains, making for a lovely walk. Five minutes to the airport bus pick up, and a short walk to the city center. Only issue was a slight odour of sewage in the bathroom.

it is ok.

when we were there, the weather was hot. But it is not the season for aircondition. So we had to open the window during the night. but had to close the window during the day for safety, which made room very hot. The location is close to convention ctr as we have a meeting to attend. If you want to just next to eating places or shopping, I would look other hotels. But the hotel is still within walking distances to those places.

Hotel. Basilios in Granada Spain

Great location! We parked the car underground nearby and walked to everything. The first night we were in an old, modestly upgraded room in the monastery, and the second night they moved us to a completely upgraded section. It was very deluxe. Close to everything, and the staff was pleasant and helpful.

This hotel is a converted monestery and very historic and quaint. It is also older and kind of tired. One minor complaint I would have is that the walls seem to be very thin and I could hear conversations late into the night (but then i found that to be true of my hotel in Madrid as well, so maybe it is a Spanish thing?). Beware the cost of the breakfast - which again may be true of Europe, but for what it was, i thought it was overpriced. Front desk was very nice and helpful. There was a luggage room to store luggage the day we checked out so we didn't have to carry it around while sight-seeing on the last day. (We like it enough to stay there an extra night when our flight back to Madrid was canceled!)

I would not rate this hotel as 3 star more 2 or 1 star. The location is good but the rooms are more like student accommodation very basic. The walls are very thin heard someone snoring next door! Also all night lots of noise from guests talking loudly and slamming doors. There is a school within the complex or facility for students so can be noisy in the afternoon.
Granada is beautiful and if traveling as individuals suggest when you pre book the tour for Alhambra for the 8:30am spot as less congestion.

The hotel is in an ideal location and quite charming as you enter and view the courtyard with lemon trees. The bedroom is basic but quite spacious and clean. We had breakfast 1 morning of our 2 night stay bout would not recommend as the room was quite dull and like a school dining room. It would have been better at one of the nearby cafes in the sunshine. I think the hotel should make use of the court yard area, and there is no bar or relaxation areas.

We were enthralled with the Macia M. Basilios. The location was great. We walked the river paths, walked to the business area, and the bus to Alhambra picked us up at the door. On entering the hotel, we were met by a hoard of young school students. We didn't realize that a school was hooked onto the hotel. My cousin and I were teachers so the children lent a fun atmosphere to the hotel. The rooms are sparse, but clean. The price was right. What else would a traveller want.

Nice and clean and convenient ! Major places to see were within walking distance. You can see snow capped mountain ranges from the balcony. The hotel seems to be the historical building attached to the church and renovated recently. We were totally satisfied to stay there. If we go to Granada again we will stay there again.

Must Stay Hotel in Granada

This hotel is part of an old church-convent-monastery with a central courtyard enclosed in glass and moorish arabic tiles on floors and walls - fantastic. The front part o the accommodation is actually a church-basillica and is used every Sunday as such.
The accommodation is very comfortable and clean and the showers etc all work. Staff are very friendly and helpful and you are able to leave baggage there after check-out in a secure lock up.
We would certainly return there again.

Great hotel for the money

The Macia Monasterio de los Basilios is a charming hotel located within an old monastery in a very nice neighborhood in Granada. The hotel is attached to a school (I was even seeing the playground from my room) and the beautiful XVII-century Escolapios church.
The rooms are very comfortable, with free internet access and all the amenities. The neighborhood is gorgeous and you just have to cross the street to be in the Corte Ingles upscale department store and all the attractions of downtown Granada such as the “Alcaiceria” (the old Moorish market) the cathedral, Bib-Rambla Square, Plaza Nueva, gourmet restaurants, “tapas” bars, the “Paseo de los Tristes”, the Alhambra, etc. Do you need a more detailed list? Well… it’s not just crossing “a street” but crossing the Genil River with a fantastic view of Sierra Nevada to your right.
I wouldn’t recommend you to have breakfast at the hotel since you have many cheaper and excellent options within walking distance.
I strongly recommend this cute, well appointed hotel in a fantastic and safe neighborhood in beautiful Granada.

the lobby was as pictured on the internet ([...] the hotel's website). very attractive, what you would expect for the grounds of a monastery. unfortunately, the room overlooked what basically was a high school basketball court, with a very unattractive school building around it and all around the room's view. this said, there may have been rooms overlooking the courtyard (the monastery itself), but we were tired and had just set our stuff down and didn't want to bother going down to ask about changing rooms. given the internet presentation, however, it was about as disappointing as it gets. the room itself was okay, spare but this wasn't the most expensive place. sound insulation wasn't very good, however, and the next door shower sounded like it was inside our own shower (and woke us up, though only 5 minutes before we were waking up anyway).

Old authentic monastery located close the river in the beautiful and quieter down-town area

Definitely one of the cleaner hotels with good size modern hotel rooms. There is no refrigerator in the rooms but the hotel has a good restaurant and the reception sells cold water. The reception is very helpful and they know the local attractions and restaurants which should be explored. The hotel is located perfectly in beautiful surroundings and in walking distance to the Cathedral, the old city center and shopping district. Only a short taxi drive to the Alhambra palace.

Good hotel for the price - comfortable hotel room, the rooms and furnishing are a little 'corporate' so dont stay there is you are looking for an authentic Spanish experience but very clean and the bathrooms was nice and modern. The reception staff were not very friendly.

Perfectly positioned for siteseeing around Granada!

The hotel was situated by the river and ideal for walking into the old town for a light snack, a few drinks or taking in the old alleyways and buildings. Everything is within walking distance - the tourist map provided by the hotel didn't have a scale, suffice to say everything is within about 10 minutes.
They could have ordered Alhambra tickets too, if I hadn't already booked, and we found them to be polite and helpful about any general inquiry.

Good Value

Not very fancy, but a good value for the price. The room was very simple and clean. Large bathroom. Mattresses were adequate, but plastic covering was not terribly comfortable. Location within walking distance to the major city attractions.

Lo mejor: el personal,excelente,tanto recepción como comedor,que fue con quienes traté. Todos muy amables y profesionales.
Tambien, la ubicación, perfecta para lo que necesitaba. Cerca de todo, zona muy tranquila y habitación silenciosa.
Todo limpio y camas cómodas.

Lo peor: la calefacción central. Estaba demasiado fuerte. La primera noche no pudimos dormir del calor que pasamos.
Además,el baño olía fatal a cañería.
Desayuno mejorable.
