The property is an elegant old mansion that was turned into a hotel some years ago and is located one block off one of the main boulevards downtown. I say “some years ago” because the decor and lighting is dated, and our room showed some wear here and there. Our room was quite large, clean and it had a terrific, large bathroom and shower. The foam bed was very comfortable.

The breakfast was adequate and uninspiring, with one waiter servicing the entire breakfast room, and unless you get there early you’ll find that platters are empty and waiting to be refilled.

The reception staff seemed indifferent to us as guests, never welcoming us and when we walked by each day rarely greeting us. I think this would be my greatest criticism of this hotel.

As of early October 2025 the street, Calle San Anton, on which the hotel is located is torn up and either being resurfaced or made into a pedestrian zone. In any case be aware that taxis cannot get to the property. We had to be let off a block away and lug our bags there. Subsequently we used a nearby hotel as a pickup and drop off location for taxi rides.

Great location. Very nice boutique hotel, with charming courtyard. Room very nice, and comfortable bed.

Two things we didn't like:
1) Bathroom window overlooked the courtyard, and there was an area at bottom of window with clear glass that could be seen into by courtyard.
2) Bartender overseeing courtyard had terrible service; never once checked on us, we had to go up to the bar to get drinks each time, and there were only 2 other couples in the courtyard. All other staff very pleasant and helpful.

Beware the see-through toilet doors!

Very pleasant. Exceptionally clean and the Reception staff were extremely helpful. We thought the bottle of wine on the table in our room was a welcome to the Hotel which we thought was a lovely touch so it was disappointing to find a 10 Euro label attached. We resisted. Be aware the toilet and shower doors are partially opaque glass - which obviously also means partially transparent! A novel experience and a little disconcerting to say the least - it is difficult to imagine anyone wanting to be seen behind the toilet door! It left us with a feeling that we had no privacy. It was unexpected and uncomfortable to have to make arrangements for the one person to sit with their back to the toilet door when the other needs to use the toilet. Not what I would expect of a 4 star Hotel.
The spa and sauna were a real treat but we had not expected to be charged extra as paying guests - although when we checked it is stated in the Hotel information that it is extra so no complaints about that.
The restaurant however was really top class and we felt thoroughly spoiled.

Great location but shame roof terrace was shut

Very nice hotel but disappointed to find the roof terrace shut, which was the main reason we picked it. We weren’t even informed we went up to find a notice on the door.
The rooms are very pleasant with comfy beds and good shower, the only thing needing attention is the carpet which looked tired. The communal areas are lovely and the hotel has a refined ambiance to it. Great location too.

The Worst Hotel Ever :(

Hi all,

This is my first review of my hotel booking.
I was very disappointed about Hotel Villa Oniria. I booked the hotel more than two months ago but when I arrived to check in I was shocked to find out that the hotel did not have a room for me. As per the concierge, the property was fully booked three months ago but they overbooked the rooms. So they sent me to a different building which they claimed to be \"the same hotel\". Instead, it was a totally different hotel with a different name. I found it appalling that they knew 3 months ago but only informed us at when we arrived without any apologies and they unprofessionally lied to customers to hide their mistake. This issue also could not be raised to the manager, because they claimed that they had no manager until next month. In the end, we had to call Hotels.com to problem-solve this issue and this whole process took 2 hours of our precious Christmas holiday.

Very nice hotel

What appears to be and should be a grand hotel, with a stylish interior and sweeping staircases with modern well appointed rooms, and great internet, is let down by a lack of service.

Reception is poorly manned, breakfast has a poor selection, the spa is rarely open and expensive and the garden/lounge bar is slow - this hotel could be thriving with activity, fantastic service, the very best, but it’s almost as if it’s fallen asleep.

Wonderful hotel shame about the breakfast!

Wonderful hotel elegant and chic in the centre, on a quiet safe feeling side road with not much traffic. Comfortable walks sight seeing in town. Wonderful staff very friendly, helpful and professional. Great suite with private terrace. Terrace wood floor was broken though and we thought hazardous. Needs looking at. Breakfast very disappointing. We wouldn't pay for it if we stayed there again. Had better breakfast in an Ibis Hotel.

I am so happy I chose this place. I felt safe traveling alone, I was able to sleep soundly because it was clean, smelled clean, the air worked and was quiet. Its also very cute so that added to my vacation vibes!

Lovely little gem in Central Granada

We were greeted warmly at reception upon arrival. Valet parking was available. The hotel interior is beautiful with a central courtyard and fountain. The rooms are well laid out with small balcony and large bathroom. Granada is a very walkable city and this hotel is located centrally. Very quiet. Lots of choices at breakfast. Lovely garden for enjoying the sun and a glass of wine.

The hotel had some high points -- including the architecturally interesting lobby. But the service was a huge disappointment. The tall young man presiding over breakfast was downright rude, and other staffers seemed wholly uninterested in dealing with guests. This could be a pretty good hotel, but service is a big problem here.

Beautiful hotel, with friendly staff. Good location for getting around the city. Breakfast was nice, but more limited than expected. Only 1 negative: There wasn't a \"bathroom\" ... the toilet and shower were mini closets, side by side, as you entered the room and the sink (with hairdryer, toiletries, etc.) was in a wardrobe, facing the door! A little bit of thought and the 3 areas could have been combined into a bathroom. Not sure if it was just our room (205). Very high standard of cleanliness and it's a great spot to relax in - both garden and spa (reduced rate for guests).

The property was nice, the room maintenance could have been improved as a desk chair was broken and light switch didn't work well. Looked very nice, and general areas were lovely. Maid service was a pleasure but that is where it ended. Staff was not around and no complimentary coffee available to house guests. As the manager stated, I get the room and no more! I booked two twin beds and got one queen.

hotel seems very nice in photos but in reality is very run down. mould in shower stains on carpets broken mirrors in public areas with sharp glass exposed. carpets in restaurant were worn down to the threads and breakfast was a poor offering. people even handled the breads with bare hands to cut the baguettes because not even a napkin to hold it with. poor service through out stay.

Much of the staff, except for a professional at the spa, were unhelpful and unprofessional. The front desk provided incorrect times for breakfast, which they acknowledged. They refused to provide breakfast until we talked with a manager. They served a low-quality breakfast but opened the patio doors, making the dining room unbearably cold.

Similarly, the staff agreed to drop off bath robes but never delivered them.

The staff did not nothing to make the guests feel welcome. If anything, they seemed unconcerned and unmotivated. The exception was a lady at the spa who provided facial treatments on Saturday.

The atrium was beautiful. However, the rest of the hotel was poorly maintained. The spa was old and poorly designed. Its floors were dirty and its toilets were overflowing. The sandals provided were very slippery.

The room was a Deluxe room. The beds were comfortable but nothing else stood out. The bathroom and bedroom are connected by see-through windows so there is no privacy while showering. There is a shower head, but no hook to hang it from and no shower curtains, so a bath was the only option. The carpet was very dirty.

I would not stay there again. I have stayed at many hotels in Spain. Every experience has been great, except this one.

A Mixed Bag

A nice hotel. Very friendly and helpful front desk staff. The room was a garret on the third floor with no windows - only sky lights. It was nice to have fresh air, but the noise of drunken revellers and fighting was disturbing. The neighbourhood is mixed - convenient to the squares but with too many sketchy types. The hotel is fine, but could use some maintenance. The restaurant is expensive and staff are a bit snooty. All in all, a mixed bag.

No Sleep & Noise? This is your hotel

The hotel itself is a very nice hotel. You walk in & see a very nice lobby with a beautiful fountain. The rooms are nice as well, but that is where the good of the hotel ends.

Night 1

The beds are uncomfortable. The long pillows they give you to sleep in hurt my neck & did not allow me to have a good nights rest. The entrance to the hotel room is not sealed properly so you can hear everything that happens in the lobby & outside the corridor with ease. Kids were smashing their toys in the lobby & the sound echoed throughout the halls. We asked to be moved to a quieter room but were told the hotel was full. Add this with the sound from the outside, horns honking, talking & yelling, cursing, made for a sleepless night.

The room was also unbearably warm. I tried to turn the A/C , but it didn't work. I woke up several times during the night just drenched in sweat because the room was so hot.

Night 2

Same exact issues as the night before + a rowdy bunch of drunk people laughing & screaming right outside of our room for over an hour.

I was so hot, back & neck were in pain from the terrible mattress & pillows. I told the front desk lady when I checked out & again, didn't seem like she cared at all. They said they only had heater regardless of thermostat setting.

I am disappointed in the hotel. I wanted Granada to be a highlight of our honeymoon & it wasn't. No refund or anything. I spent a lot of money on a room that didn't serve its purpose.

On the whole, pretty good. A couple of irritants.

Room was okay but seemed like the toilet was an afterthought. Had to wrap yourself around towel rack and tp holder to sit. Excellent breakfast. Liked the location and neighborhood. Staff was friendly and helpful but restaurant (Chikita) they recommended was was least favorite of our whole 2 weeks in Spain. Restaurant service was rude, cold and aloof.

The hotel room was lovely but the staff are in attentive - especially as we had another guest walk in to our room.
the spa facilities are expensive even to just use the pool at 15 euros per day per person and the gym was out of actipn for our stay.
Also watch out for the extra parking fee of 22 euros per day which I wasn't aware of.

Fabulous hotel.

I have been traveling for two months and this was my favorite hotel. It is very cozy and very elegant. It has a nice living room over looking the outdoor patio and garden, a bar, dining room, and apparently a nice spa which I did not use. My room was small, but it was very nice and the space was creatively designed. I loved the shower. It's in a good part of town close to everything, and the staff is very helpful. Granada is beautiful!

The only reason I didn't give this hotel five stars across the board is that the sink area in the room needs to be painted - the wall was pretty rough looking. Other than this, everything was essentially perfect. Highly recommend. Loved it.

Beautiful Central Hotel

Staff and accommodation are exceptional. Celebrated my dads 80th birthday with an exceptional meal at la fabula with the waiters and chef exceeding all expectations. Left my phone on the city tour train and the reception staff organised for it to be delivered to the hotel. Fantastic holiday!!

Guest Ratings disaster!

We picked this hotel to stay in Granada for two nights. We read the previous reviews (9.1) on the website. However, the room they gave us was on the third floor didn't have any windows but pigeon holes and a very low ceiling. The carpet was full of stains and the walls and the curtains, table cloths, armchairs were worn-out and very dirty. I mean the colours of these were different because of the dirt. We refused to stay in that room and went to the reception to change. After minutes of 'we don't have any room' reply, the receptionist asked the managers opinion and upgraded us to junior suit which has real windows and a terrace. I guess we were lucky. The linens and towels were clean which means house keeping was doing their job well but the carpet, walls, armchairs were very dirty again. Maybe once it was a nice hotel, but not now. The good side of this hotel is that it is very central, but I should say there are many other hotels in the city centre.

Great stay in this absolutely stunning hotel in the perfect spot for exploring Granada. The staff are extremely friendly with big smiles and ready to give directions and suggestions to whatever you are looking for and they know the area inside out. The room was spacious and very comfy. The only downsides were the roof garden was closed for our whole stay - a major disappointment and the lights in the hall on our floor were broken and either flickered continuously or were off at night time making getting to the room spooky. Also the room keys often didn't open the door.

We needed a last-minute place to stay in Granada and happened to pick this place--and were so happy we did! Cute little jewelbox hotel with stylish rooms, a lovely garden, comfortable beds and a killer G&T. Plus: They told us where to go for Alhambra tickets, which we had read online were sold out. (It was just blocks away.) The staff was helpful and parking our car was easy. Even though we'd only planned to stay in Granada one night, we considered staying a second largely because the hotel was such a pleasure. Other reviews mention some wear: We didn't see any at all.

A gem in the heart of the city; beautiful hotel!!!

This hotel is beautiful. The hotel has a beautiful garden and the location is right in the center of everything. It cannot get any better. This is one of the few great hotel finds of my trip to Granada. I will definitely stay again. The price is so much less than what it is really worth.

Service from front desk and bar employees was excellent.
Service from breakfast staff was considerably less than excellent(an hour before closing and the breakfast buffet was very depleted, the staff were busy washing dishes in the back).

excellent corner room for a reasonable price. close to city center/shuttle to the alhambra. the staff were very friendly and helpful. king size bed, double-sink bathroom. market right around the corner. you can't go wrong here.

Charming hotel in town center

Lovely charming hotel. Good location to be if you want to be int he center of Granada town. Room was very well designed and had a place for everything. Bathroom had proper new fittings.
Bathroom has a window into the room so keep this in mind if you are sharing room with a friend, not a lover! Although there is a shower which is independent. Gym is very old and needs to be updated.

The Michelin start restaurant, Fabula was absolutely delightful with imaginative and wonderful food. My most memorable meal in Spain....kudos to the talented chef.

Hotel can use a bit more of staff at front desk especially a porter for people carrying large suitcases!

wonderful stay and i would recommend it to people looking for a bit of sophistication and quiet
