Staff was great! Locks on doors were a problem. I hated asking for help with them so many times. I needed a low price place that was quiet enough for my very rural dog. It worked okay. My dog really didn't like Denver this year, LaCrosse was perfect and better than Ellis for him.

Hey y’all i never do these reviews. But you should know what your getting into. Let’s start with the tricky door with a real key that was difficult to open. I was afraid to leave my room worried i would get locked out. The bathroom had missing tile and caulking, the carpet wasn’t even carpet anymore. It was flattened, greasy, and blackened. I was worried about fleas and other bugs. The blanket on the bed was super dirty with hair stuck in it. I took it off and used my own. They had one outlet that i saw and it had the fridge, roku and tv all plugged into a power strip. The microwave wasn’t plugged in at all and one of the two outlets didn’t work. You had to plug your phone into the one bathroom outlet. There was a gap in the door causing a cold breeze all night. There was no breakfast and the towels were also disgusting. All for $80. Worst hotel i have ever stayed at.

The manager of this property, and her daughter, could not have been nicer or more accommodating.. That needs to be said first.

We visit LaCrosse 3 or 4 times a year for up to a week at a time and have stayed at this property numerous times because prices were reasonable (cheap) and we only needed a place to sleep since we were visiting family. Even though it has always been run down, wirh threadbare carpet and cracked sinks, the beds were clean and that's all I cared about. We never spent much time in the room.

This time was different. We knew the property was under new ownership and hoped that they would have started some kind of update or renovation, but no. When we checked in we were told that the keycard system was not working so we wiuld have to call the manager each time we wanted to get into the room and they would come open the door for us. Inconvenient for them, but they were always very nice about it.

Then we were notified that there was no hot water. There had not been for over 2 weeks but they were hopeful it would be fixed by the end of the week. That didn't happen. So we stayed our 3 nights and slept under a blanket I had in my car, with our own pillows. We showered at our daughter's house. How can you properly clean bedding and towels with no hot water??? You can't. This was our last stay until we see some major changes on future visits.

Unfortunately, the motel was booked prior to seeing. It is run down. If you leave your room, you have to have someone let you in again. Did not feel comfortable spending the night and decided to just forfeit the cost of the stay and go elsewhere.

Wish they could get a grant for improvements, my sink was clogged, light bulb burnt out on bed side lamp. The folks running the place were great. But I had no key to my room. Dont think its changed since the 1980s the A/C worked, but was loud. The price was good. Just really needs up dated!

At one am, smoke started pouring of the light socket. The place was dirty. The finish was nearly gone from the bathtub. The carpet was gross. The keycard system was broken and the hotel worker had to let us in with a key every time.

The list of problems I had in one night.
- Didnt know about service animal laws and would have charged me extra had i not said something. They asked for proof which was actually annoying.
- No key cards for the rooms? Idk how the f that works nor would I have spent my money but they didnt tell me until after i spent money. Literally couldnt leave and come back without asking them to open my door.
- Room one smelled of dogs and nasty mildew. The room was tiny and the neighbors were so ing loud at midnight i complained.
- They switched me rooms, apparently knowing those guests were noisy and still put me near them.
- Room two was spacious but absolutely dingy. Smelled -okay- but the ac didnt work. Was sweltering at night.

Suffice to say i didnt rest and wasted 65$ on absolute trash motel.

The area is dingy and dark. Everything closes by 8pm and the only gas station is closed at midnight.

Wish i could have gotten a refund of some type. The workers were cool atleast they tried to be apologetic.

Don’t stay here

The front desk had no way to check my Expedia reservation so they had to wake a guy up staying there for him to then call his son who actually owned the hotel to approve the rate I got. Then they put me in a room that was supposed to be clean but wasn’t. So then they moved me to a “clean” room. Once in the room we found crickets and mouse poop all around the room and dead bugs in the bathroom. The light did not work in the bath room.

The room was a quaint cabin style. It's very dated, but functional. Room was quiet, but it was cold, and the heater/ac required a pair of pliers to change the settings. I might stay here again, but isn't my first choice. The diner across the street is ok but not great.

The front office lady was so nice and personable, but the room we stayed in smelled like cheap cologne and the carpet looked stained and dirty. The room was very outdated and there was only a deadbolt for a lock. If it wouldnt have been midnight when we got there I would have driven somwhere else. I wont stay there again.

Had a leak in the roof over our bed, woke up to a soked bed. Notified the person working when we checked out, they said they would talk with managment but the owner has a no refund polocy no matter what.

I do not recomend staying here.

LaCrosse Kansas hotel - Green Acre

This location is 20 miles south of Hays. It has potential but let's start with the good. Bed super comfy and the shower was awesome..Plenty of hot water and water pressure was excellent.

Improvements needed:
replace old carpet with luxury vinyl
Replace the good will drapes with nicer black out blinds
repair the falling off tile from shower area
replace the RUSTY shower rod
add a small single serve coffee maker
add a small microwave
defrost the freezer so the refrigerator works better

there is a diner, market and liquor store in walking distance of hotel

The bed was clean, but that was it. We expexted the place to not be fancy which is fine, we knew it was a cheap hotel but it was extremly dirty. The white door on the inside had (what we hope was) mud smeared all over it. It had not been vacuumed because there were dead bugs and frosted flakes all over the floor. We looked under the bed and there were fruit loops and a stick of deodorant left by someone. The deodorant was the only amenity unless you count the two used bars of soap and opened shampoo sachet left in the shower. Tons of flys in the room but that must be the norm because they left us a fly swatter on the desk. The mirror looked like a kid had licked their hands and then wiped them all over the glass. Also no laundry, just a locked room with old mattresses staged against a washer and dryer that maybe operated a decade ago. Overall gross conditions. We basically layed awake all night waiting for Normam Bates to walk in and murder us. Pay an extra $40 and head up the road.

Green Acres or Bates Motel?

I booked a “2 bedroom non-smoking room” When I got there to check on I was informed that on their end it was a 1 bedroom booking and that the room they had me in had a broken AC and since they are full.. the only room available to me was a smoking room. I had a small child asleep on my shoulder and I’m need of a nap… it was also 90 degrees… so I didn’t have a choice but to accept the smoking one bedroom.

The manager was very friendly and trying very hard to do his best. He opened the door for me, and quickly started the AC unit. I got my child’s bed set up (a portable low bed) and then took my shoes off, to discover the floor was damp. Fortunately the area my daughters bed was not affected by damp carpet… but everything else was. I should also note my aunt was staying in the room next door and walked into a puddle when she entered her room.

After my daughter napped and I re-grouped with my family, it was decided that the smoking room was unacceptable for my small child and myself (health problems) and we would instead stay with family. That evening we returned to the motel to check out and found a large family fuming outside the motel office and the manager stressed inside. I informed my door lock wasn’t working and I couldn’t get into my room, and that we would also be checking out due to the smoking room. I didn’t ask for money back, I just wanted to leave.

I later found out from my Aunt, that they checked the large family into our old room right after we left.

Green Acres is not the place to stay!
I appreciated the kind staff who checked us in and the curtains kept our room dark.

I was frustrated by being charged $10 for my pet and $10 for my child. Also, the room we stayed in had big black stains on the floor, the door was dirty and brown, I'm certain it was suppose to be white. The sink did not drain. The fridge was not clean. This was not worth the $81 I spent too stay there for one night. Trying to save the next poor soul from staying there unless it's a last resort.

Keep in mind this is in a small town in western Kansas. It is a small older single story motel where you park right in front of your door. It a a clean, comfortable room. The motel doesn’t offer any form of breakfast. It didn’t have an ice machine that I found, but Casey’s General Store is conveniently right across the street. I rate it good because I didn’t expect better. It was clean and comfortable for an overnight stay as we were passing through.
