The area is peaceful, surrounded by many other beautiful buildings and very well connected. Rooms have good noise insulation and in general in good condition, even though a bit outdated. The staff made sure the rooms were always clean and tidy. There is a pool in the hotel but we never used it because we prefere the sea. There is also a great park nearby with beautiful authentic trees and plants which is great for a morning walk and coffee. Totally recommend it if you want to spend some relaxing days away from the noise of the touristy city center.

Perfect location

Booked well in advance for the carnival dates, excellent location for walking around the city and of course take part in the opening parade. Nice people and very comfortable room. Will be happy to return. If one arriving by car then expect to look for a parking spot in the nearby streets.

Very enjoyable stay

We really enjoyed our five night stay. The staff were outstandingly friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and well equipped. We stayed on bed and breakfast basis which was a good choice. The buffet breakfast was excellent with a huge assortment of foods. We would definitely stay here again.

Good business leisure mix

Ideal Hotel for Santa Cruz. Room was large and although roasting on arrival, it was very comfortable once I got the AC was running. Nice to have a bathtub these days as most are shower only now. One very serious and bad thing is lights are default out on corridors so pitched black, they are motion sensitive but take quite a few steps to come on, so I understand the thinking but it does not work properly and felt unsafe at times.

It is a good hotel. Nice restaurant. However, the breakfast is very bad. Do not pay for it and go outside. The company in charge of the breakfast is not the hotel. Food is not good. Limited options for drinks. There is also a problem if you ask for ice at night since the restaurant is handled by a contractor. The hotel does not want to take anything from the restaurant. Also if you ask to fridge medicines. The issues with the contractors are the problem of this hotel

Top-notch hotel in lovely neighborhood

This hotel was excellent from start to finish. The front desk gentlemen were very friendly and service oriented, from helping us with luggage to finding street parking. The room was large and clean with a fridge and a balcony overlooking the pool. The grounds around the pool had large trees giving the feeling of being in a rural area. Everyone from the cleaning staff, the life-guard to the wait staff was very friendly. The hotel was close to a beautiful tree shaded park with an excelent café located in it. The location was very safe and we had our rental car parked on the street for 2 days without incident

This has a great position in the city just off the Ramblas and near the largest park. You can walk to the centre by following the gentle slope down through the lovely streets.

Our room was a standard double overlooking the garden. There was plenty of room and a nice shower.

The staff were brilliant. We booked the underground parking for the week and they refunded the daily charge when we were able to park in one of the spaces in front of the hotel for free at the weekend.

For eating the hotel restaurant is pretty good and convenient on weekends or Mondays when many are closed. There are several very good restaurants within a few hundred metres, notably Sagrario and La Frasca.

We have been regular guests at the hotel over the years, we like the city location and we like attending the classical music festival venues in the city in the evening We had to miss a year for obvious reasons but it was good to be back this year The junior suites have been upgraded to a high standard and the staff were as friendly as ever We will return -this is a city break we enjoy

I enjoyed my three nights at the Hotel Colón Rambla. I found the staff to be always friendly, polite and helpful. My room was comfortable, although the WiFi was forever dropping out.

I didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, so can’t comment on that, but I used the pool a couple of times (it’s good) and was surprised that they offered a drinks service there.

The hotel isn’t in the centre I guess, but it’s ideally located for driving in and out, and it’s only a ten minute walk to the shops, bars and restaurants.

The car park was full during my stay (I didn’t realise you had to book), but it is very small and not easy to manoeuvre in, so I was kind of happy to park elsewhere. Parking isn’t easy in Santa Cruz but you always find a place eventually!

Shirt stay for sightseeing

Nice stay!! We were only there for one night to sight see, there is a beautiful park just down the road with an amazing bar. Check in was quick, easy and the staff were friendly. Room was big spacious and extremely clean. Bed was big and comfy, the rainfall shower was lovely and Mini bar was stocked with good prices. Only slight negative was that the air conditioning could have been a little colder but was okay.

Colon Rambla was super hotel , great location , friendly helpful staff and clean comfortable rooms .
The check in was quick and efficient. We were upgraded to a pool / garden view room which was spacious and glazing ensured no traffic noise .
The only downside was the bar was quiet , lacking in atmosphere and staff were eager to clean up around us .

Yapsi at the front desk was extremely helpful sine we had an emergency. He was very quick to call an ambulance and help us with whatever we needed.
The rest of the staff too was very empathetic and kind. The family room of two bedrooms was spacious and clean.
Room service and restaurant too was very good.
We had our dinners at Jarana their restaurant. Food was reasonable and tasty. We definitely recommend this hotel. 20 minute walk to the Port and waterfront.
Hop on/hop off bus is a 5 minute walk. 22 euros per adult. 10 minute walk to the supermarket.

A tall man on reception was not at all helpful I asked if I could pay to stay a bit longer he said no as they where fully booked ( they where not 18th Dec ) when we cheaked in was not told where the pool is as i live in the.south of Tenerife would have gone again but not now

We had a nicely-appointed and spacious suite, with kitchenette and balcony. Very good breakfast, same items every day though so might be a bit repetitive for a longer stay.Very helpful staff. If you bring your own car, it is advisable to reserve ( at a charge ) parking in the hotel's own underground garage, as local on-street parking is difficult. The only real minus point for us was that we found the traffic noise from the Rambla road to be intrusive, so bring your ear-plugs if you are a light sleeper.

Good hotel, good location, value for money

This hotel had pretty much everything we needed, and represented good value for money. The staff were all professional and helpful and the hotel was clean and well looked after. The facilities were good, with a nice bar area (best barraquitos around!) and pool area, and the room was very spacious. Would have been good to have tea/coffee facilities in rooms as standard, and a balcony (only about half the rooms seemed to have balconies). It's in a handy location, only a 5-10min walk into the centre with loads of lovely restaurants and bars around. There's plenty of street parking around so we didn't need to park in the hotel car park (which charges I think €15 a day). Overall good stay!

With a busy road on two sides and a school full of screaming children on another side this is not a hotel to find rest or tranquility in! The playground is also floodlite at night and used for sport. A cafe under the hotel which is used as a annex by mothers and children added to the cacophony ! OK for an overnight stay if you are desperate. It need redecorating and better maintenance. I would rate it a 2* hotel . The restaurant is a depressing area and best avoided. Use of a kettle is extra as is use of the kitchen .

We came as tourists and this hotel is not really a tourist hotel. We did not find it a relaxing place. The area is lovely but has many schools which leads to awful parking problems. The adjoining school bell went at 8:30 and then the cafe under our balcony was very loud with parents who came for coffee and a chat after dropping off the children and again around 4 before collection. Basketball practice, bouncing balls, every evening after school until 8pm. One morning we tried to move to the sofa area with our coffee we were told we had to stay in the table and chair area which was extremely loud- not great for quiet chat to plan our day.
Hotel parking is almost €15 per night.
The town is lovely and lots of very good restaurants and is pleasant for strolling after dinner.Disappointed to come back to hotel after dinner at 1030 and not to be able to avail of a nice drink in the bar before bedtime. It closes at 10:30. There is beautiful park nearby with cafes and restaurants.
We had a junior suite with a kitchenette which had nothing in it. You had to pay extra to get a kettle, cups etc. Our suite cost €131.64 more than a double. We discovered after being told there was no bar drinks available at night that we had a mini bar. True, but no spirits in it. We were then told these were held in reception if you required one. It's not the actual alcohol that is important it is the idea of a nice chat before bedtime in comfy surroundings.

Nice location but “something” always missing

The location of this hotel (near the other hotels in Los Hoteles ... redundant) was great. The architecture at/around the hotel is some of the best in town. The neighborhood is extremely well landscaped. Some basic grocery shopping is nearby. Parque Garcia Sanabria—a few blocks away—is almost the perfect-sized park. Staff at Colon Rambla were cool, and it was funny at times explaining that I wanted ice in a bucket—still not fully sure how to request this. The ice is an example of things missing. It would be great if there was an ice making machine on at least one of the five floors so that one does not have to keep asking the restaurant staff for it. They were only able to provide ice (4 or 5 cubes) in a glass. Then there could have been a slightly larger fridge which allows the hotel to sells its bebidas and for client to store their own and ice. An ice bucket in the room is also recommended, especially in the junior or larger suites. The bartender/restaurant worker was notoriously absent. This became a running joke about how long before he or she would appear. The shower needed better water displacement controls to prevent leaking under the glass enclosure and door onto the surrounding bathroom floor. It is a pet peeve to step out of the shower into more water as attempting to dry off. There need to be soap dishes, better lighting & other client-friendly suite additions. Also, a guest(s) smoking marijuana nearby gave me a headache until I closed the balcony door. Heat!

A lovely 3 night stay.

The hotel was just right for our 3 night stay. The room was lovely but I found the bed a little too firm for my liking but I asked for a pool view and got exactly that. There was a little noise from the two local schools and the busy road but it is a city hotel so it was to be expected. The staff were all friendly, the breakfast was good and the location ideal. We will be back soon.

Wonderful Hotel with Friendly Staff

The hotel accommodations were quite nice, but what impressed me the most was the friendliness of the staff. I arrived earlier than check-in due to an early morning ferry. They told me the room would not be ready for a few hours, but immediately offered to store my bags and even offered to allow me to use the pool area until my room was ready. They also stored my bags the day of check-out due to an afternoon ferry time I was leaving on. They were always very pleasant and helpful and spoke English very well.

Nice hotel, with basic amenities and a nice pool area. Good location, close to the park, and lots of nice restaurants around. One thing to note is that parking is charged at 14 Euro a day, and street parking is virtually impossible to find (we hadn't considered this when price comparing).

Nice hotel in quietish location

The hotel was good value for money with very friendly staff. You could walk straight down the road to the city centre in 15 minutes. The pool was chilly as you would expect in January. For €1.50 per person per day you can have a tea tray. The rooms overlooking the pool cost a bit more but possibly worth it to avoid overlooking the school playground which was quite loud, it didn't bother us as we were getting up at 8 anyway. A few parking spots are available in the basement but needs pre booking. If you didn't book don't even bother trying to park between 4 and 6 pm as the whole area is in good natured chaos due to school pickup time. But after 6 you can find lots of spaces.

Great hotel in beautiful neighbourhood

The hotel is situated in an expensive neighbourhood with beautiful houses, and a lovely square with fountain a Spanish-tiled benches. Close by is the luscious green park Sanabria, with croaking frogs, more fountains, artworks and a lovely cafe restaurant with a treetop terrace where you can sit with a cocktail on comfy sofas. The tram stop is just an 8 minute walk away which takes you to the beautiful UNESCO village of La Laguna with it's wonderful colonial-style buildings and architecture, carefully restored 15 years ago.

A convenient base in Santa Cruz

This is our second visit to the Colon Rambla we really like this hotel
From the South Airport catch the 111 bus to Santa Cruz
This is not a poolside Tenerife holiday Santa Cruz is the main city of the Canaries we like wandering around the town there are shops, galleries and museums and we enjoy visiting the auditorium We buy a Bono Card and use the local buses and trams to visit North Tenerife there is a fantastic local beach a short bus journey away also
We book a junior suite lounge, kitchen , bedroom, bathroom and patio the hotel hires the crockery etc which is unusual but we are happy to self cater There are lots of restaurants and shops locally
Staff are friendly the hotel is clean and tidy this is a city break so there is street noise from a main street and a school next door but we find this hotel to be a good base

First time in Tenerife, so this hotel was perfect location. Walking distance to everywhere. Room was comfortable. We got to do tour of volcano, Tiede National Park. We would love to come back. Walked along dock a lot , loved being by the water. Love all the big trees and all the places where you can sit for a break. It was a great stay. Weather and food were also really good.

We enjoyed our stay at Colon Rambla it's a good value hotel in a very nice area with helpful friendly staff. Car parking is difficult in the streets nearby as they are narrow and crowded with parked cars. It is not impossible and there are gaps at certain times early evening. We paid to park in their underground car park (14 places) which was not cheap but it was convenient. We also paid extra for tea and coffee making facilities in the room as our booking was through a 3rd party website. The hotel provide this free if you book direct with them. The milk provided may suit coffee but not tea for British tastes so we bought some from a local supermarket and kept it in the minibar fridge.
We stayed the first week of March and the pool is not heated so it was too cold to swim. The pool area is pleasant to sit around though there is some traffic noise from the Rambla just outside.
We spent our entire 7 day Tenerife holiday based in Santa Cruz. In retrospect it might have been better to have spent half of it somewhere else. However it was an enjoyable stay and I would happily recommend Hotel Colon Rambla

Good hotel overall but it does need refurbishment

The hotel is quite good and centrally located.

However, it is in need of refurbishment. For example, the socket boards almost come off when you unplug your phone charger. Also, there is no hot air coming out of the (very obsolete) air con system.

The staff was friendly but a bit disorganised. For example, they failed to tell me that there was an added charge for a room looking at the pool. Also, the first night the kitchen was not equipped (by the way, don't bother with that, just bring your own cutlery). Finally, everybody kept asking what we had consumed from the minibar.

Outside the hot season, I would seek for a cheaper alternative given that the pool is not heated. Also, there is no parking space available outside so you might have to pay a hefty fee for using their own car park. We, instead, managed to park the car on the street, even if it was far away...but the car was broken into.

Rather sleep on a bench next time

Of all the hotels I've stayed in in my life this ranks as the worst, apart from one barmaid come waitress, I found the staff very unhelpful. The first morning we decided to have breakfast, bad mistake, we waited 20 minutes for bacon even though it's a buffet, when it did come it was like nothing I've ever tasted, I honestly would give it to a dog, for €8.50 I expected a bit better, on Xmas eve we walked round town looking for a bar that was opened after failing that because apparently every thing closes down X as eve including the bar in our hotel and with no manager to sort it out only rude staff we were forced to retire early to bed with only Spanish telly, oh and one bottle of larger in fridge, we checked out next day because of the shabbiness of the place, and when I asked for complaint form it was in Spanish . AVOID

Comfortable and welcoming hotel

Last minute booking for a family emergency. Made to feel very welcome and the reception staff were very accommodating of our lack of Spanish, and we were able to communicate in English. Room was comfortable and all the essentials of a good nights sleep / stay (comfortable bed, decent shower, air con, and black out curtains) were covered. Would definitely stay at this hotel again

Very Noisy with city traffic and overhead aircraft

We had an room with extra space and settee . Big bathroom with shower. Paid extra for balcony but only had restricted view overlooking the swimming pool and no sun. Had to pay extra for kettle and coffee in room. Bed hard and had to sleep on settee for four nights. Charged extra for breakfast we didn't have and did not refund. Would not recommend this hotel .

I had a junior suit, I had a balcony that gives to the pool. The breakfast was so good. The staff was so nice and friendly. O recommend this hotel for whoever want a quiet, clean hotel.

Could do better

Found desk staff very helpful. Rooms were well looked sfter, but had understood had balcony. Did not. Perhaps just as well as adjacent main and busy road. Instead had school children from early morning to late evening. Good the school facilities are used. Main disappointment though was over breakfast. Disappointing selection. No butter. Margarine ONLY!! Bread over when it ran out which happened by 8.15 am. Croissant fresh one day, stale/recycled the rest. Fresh fruit frequently hard. So kiwi rock hard. Bananas badly bruised so not possible to eat it all. Food slow to be restocked so no fresh warm scrambled egg. Meat and cheeses poorish quality. Hardly catastrophic but disappointing as was fact that places never laud up in morning, do it yourself, and table clearance a noisy trolley whilst you are eating. Poor. Reminded me of standard and service when first went to Eastern Europe. Shame as good location. Sme nice restaurants around. With little effort coyld do better.

The hotel was a little hard to find, but once you did, it was great. It is an easy walk into shopping and a 10 min taxi ride to the airport. The front desk people were very helpful with all our question.

Nice hotel, shame about the noise

This was overall a very nice place. The room was huge and the staff were very pleasant, and the surrounding neighbourhood is pretty. There were just two downsides: (1) a very loud, late party in the restaurant on the Saturday night (a really bad thing when you're a light sleeper with jetlag) and (2) the internet only worked right in the corner of the room.
