The air conditioning/heating wasn’t great, it would always either get way too cold or way too hot and the beds weren’t the comfiest, but the room was decently sized with a clean bathroom and the location of the hotel was perfect, very close to the best shopping spots and dotonbori. Would stay here again.

Perfect spot not too far from all the fun in dotonbori and a bunch of yummy food places around. There’s even a matcha shop and owl cafe right next door! The room was a much bigger room compared to lots of other Japan hotels and offered 3 full sized beds with still adequate floor space for our luggages. Will definitely stay back here again if we find ourselves back in Osaka :)

Overall good experience. The room was big and good location. Room and hotel was clean but could do with some touchups. Bathroom is very small and extractor fan didn't seem to do much so once you had a shower the whole bathroom had condensation everywhere. Had required facilities provided such as hairdryer and small fridge. The rooms aren't the most sound proof so could hear noise from people in the street late at night and construction work from 7am on some days but this can't be helped. Was able to drop bags off before check-in which is always helpful.

We selected this accommodation for our friends due to their preference for a budget-friendly hotel. Its proximity to Dotonbori is a significant advantage, and the staff consistently demonstrated exceptional friendliness and helpfulness. While the hotel exhibits some age, it maintains a secure and clean environment. The bathroom, though compact, proved entirely functional. The beds were notably comfortable, and despite the smaller room size, it perfectly met our friends' requirement for a place to sleep after exploring the city. The surrounding area offers a wide array of dining options and shopping opportunities, with convenience stores conveniently located directly across the street. It was a very small dated hotel with very few amenities. There’s a restaurant connecting to the lobby where you can smell cigarette smoke. No laundry facilities onsite. I stayed there 5 days and 4 nights, but did not receive any room cleaning. Only the trash was picked up and towels exchanged. The housekeeper was very nice. The owner / manager speaks English well. One of the female front desk staff didn’t seem friendly.

Hotel Kojan was a comfortable and budget-friendly place to stay. The room was spacious, especially by Japanese standards, which we really appreciated. The staff were friendly and generally very helpful.

The location was excellent—just a short walk to Dotonbori and surrounded by plenty of bars and places to eat. We highly recommend the onigiri place just a few doors down, and there’s also a nearby ramen spot that serves a delicious fire miso ramen.

There was a bit of a damp smell in the room when we first arrived, but it went away after we kept the air conditioning running during our stay, so it wasn’t a major issue.

We used the laundry service, which was convenient and a nice amenity. However, it’s worth noting that they seemed to use a hot drying setting, which caused some minor shrinking to our clothes. If you plan to use it, it might be a good idea to specify your preferences in advance. Still, it was great to have clean laundry taken care of.

Housekeeping came daily to change towels and take out the trash, except on the second-to-last day. We’re not sure if that was intentional or just an oversight, but it’s something to be aware of.

Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend Hotel Kojan to travelers looking for an affordable, comfortable, and well-located stay in Osaka.

This hotel is in a great location a short walk from Dotonbori.

The staff were very friendly, kind and helpful and they helped us with our luggage transfer.

We booked one triple room and one single room. The condition of the triple room could do with some TLC as the walls and ceilings had what looked like water leak marks on them. The photographs make the room look nicer than what it is. Also given the busy location there was quite a lot of noise from the street disrupting our sleep.

My husband was in the single room and his room walls were in better condition, however in the middle of our first night he could smell cooking smells in the room. However the next morning we mentioned this to the front desk and they changed his room and the following 2 nights were fine.

We oaccepted it for the price we paid and we only spent time in the room to sleep.

At first it wasn't bad, when we got there it was difficult to find out if they received our bags, they were sure they didn't know what we were talking about, until I showed them pics of our bags, and then they said they had put them in our room already. That was a nice moment. Two of the staff members were great, the girl and the man with the US accent. Everyone else I won't speak on.
The room was lovely except they said they had this eco cleaning thing, which meant we never had our room cleaned except for the day before last. But even then they left the bins unchanged. The pillows had feathers in, I was allergic to them, then one guy I told proceeded to tell me there weren't any, of course I took picture proof that there were. He decided to give us towels to put in pillow cases as replacements... Anyway, the other man found pillows for us eventually but not before housekeeping put more of the allergen pillows on the bed, my face was swollen for 4 days... Also the breakfast was DIABOLICAL! After day one I decided not to eat it and went to Lawsons everyday, which increased our costs. Expedia tried to get in touch with the hotel to gety breakfast refunded, the hotel just ignored them, ha ha, you can't make this stuff up. I will say the room looked nice and was spacious and had charging ports in good places. None of that was enough to save the bad experience overall. There's more but I'd be here all day.

Great location with a train station just 150 m away and Dotonbori and other areas of interest (eg. main Shinsaibashi shopping and Ameri-kamura) within walking distance (say 10-30 minutes) away. Convenient stores everywhere. There's an owl cafe next door. Korean restaurant also next door (on other side) serves a good Korean breakfast as its hard to find breakfast options in Japan as most places don't open till 10 am. Staff put our luggage into rooms as we had left them in lobby prior to check in time. Hotel is a little dated, but that's not so important. I would definitely recommend.

The property is ok for a few nights. It served us well. It’s not a bad property but it’s not a high end establishment. I didn’t mind it however there is an odd musky smell from the room, the rooms are clean enough but my main issue with the hotel was the housekeeping, the only thing I could see that was done was new towels and a wipes bathroom. No clean sheets or good vacuuming. The beds aren’t made at all so it was very different to what I am used to. Otherwise it’s not a bad property at all and as I said it serves well and I was overall happy with it

The property is a little worn. The room smelled a bit musty and one of the beds had damp covers on it. It felt as though they took the bedding out of the dryer a bit too early. There was no view. The only view we had was of another buildings staircase.

Solid 3 stars. The room we had was bigger and more spacious than our previous hotel in Ginza. Conveniently located near multiple train stations and Dotonbori. The lobby area smelled like food coming from the kitchen. It’s not always a pleasant smell. This hotel was worth the price we paid.

Hotel Kojan's location can't be beat! It's close to Dontonbori and literally three minutes from Shinsaibashi station. For a budget hotel, the rooms are surprisingly big. Rooms are also clean. My family of three stayed in a single room with three large twin beds (felt like a double bed). The staff are all incredibly accomodating and friendly, and they all speak fantastic English, too. I really enjoyed all my conversations with the staff there. Breakfast is a traditional Korean and Japanese dishes. There is also toast with jam, and cereal. If you love staying hydrated like my family and I, there is a water cooler in lobby which can be used 24/7. I stayed at two other hotels whole in Japan, and Hotel Kojan was the only hotel to offer this.

The staff and crew were friendly. However, the building itself and room was undesirable.

The room is not well ventilated. It has a strong smell and always feels humid. When the AC is turned on, the cool air also emits an odor.

Our sink was also partially clogged. I understand that it is an older building, but I would expect upgrades and improvements like our shower curtains which were mouldy.

Unfortunately, I would not return or recommend this hotel.
