Check in was a breeze, staff was courteous and delicious. The rooms are a bit small but if you’re willing to trade that off for service and location this is a great place to stay. It’s walking distance to train stations, Dotombori, and many dining options.

Staff were friendly and helpful and allowed us to check in a little early. The location is great, really close to food, shopping and transit. The room itself is very basic/budget. The mattress was very thin and firm and not super comfy. There wasn’t really any soundproofing in the room so lots of street noise. We were right beside the elevator, so we got lots of hallway noise as well.

Very walkable to restaurants and shopping nearby. Stations are within 5-10 minute walk as well depending on your destination. Ceilings in the bathroom are a little short, but overall nothing to complain about. Staff are very friendly and welcoming, and there is a reasonably sized comic selection for English readers that seems to be expanding periodically.

The location is excellent—just a short walk from one of Osaka’s largest shopping districts. The staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel requires both key cards to be returned at checkout, with a stated fine of ¥2,000 if one is missing. While we felt this fee was quite high for a plastic card, the staff were gracious enough to waive the charge after our request when we accidentally lost one. This policy was unique compared to other hotels we stayed at in Japan. The property also features an extensive collection of Japanese manga and anime books and magazines, which is a nice touch, though unfortunately there were no English editions available for us to enjoy.

Terrible hotel. Rooms are tiny. The washroom stank and smelled like a public restroom. Told the staff and they used an ozone machine to disinfect it, but it didn't help.

They don't let you eat in the lobby so if you have food, you need to eat in the room. We did that a few nights, so you can imagine others doing the same. That means the rooms must have fits bits inside.

They make your bed every 3 days but remove garbage and change towels every day. We had 4 people in the room and they would take away our 4 towels and replace with 2, so every day we had to ask for towels. Their claim to be environmentally friendly is a crock as they would throw away our 4 slippers every night and give us back 2 new pairs, so we had to ask for new slippers too.

This hotel is just terrible. Don't stay here.

Property is 10 mins from all major attractions. The appeal to this hotel is that its on a relatively quiet street. All major connivence stores are 2 blocks away and 3 blocks from the property is a night club area.

The rooms offered are small by western standards. We were able to open one suitcase at a time. Storage is also a challenge as the room we had could only fit one luggage in the closet .

Service/workers were very pleasant to work with, the breakfast offered is incredible for the price and i would return if ever in osaka.

Very family and kid friendly hotel! Location is unbeatable near the “M” and other subway lines that can take u to basically anywhere you need to go in Osaka. Breakfast is great and area is very friendly and safe. The comics theme is a great addition for young kids.

Although I didn't have time to utilize the Manga section, they had a good selection and were kind enough to label some that were in English for tourists. The beds were firm, which I very much enjoy, but think its important for those who require a softer bed. I found the area to be just far enough to be quiet at night for a deep rest but close enough to everything that we could immediately grab some food or get to sight seeing or the trains. I enjoyed my stay greatly.

This hotel is in a good location if you want to be close to the Dotonbori area. It's also quite close to metro stations. Aside from that, the room we stayed in was a shoebox (we realize rooms in Japan tend to be small but this was tiny), the beds are not comfortable, it's noisy, the walls are very thin, and as others have indicated the bathroom has a bit of a urine smell. I'd spend a bit more to hopefully stay somewhere nicer and more comfortable.

The check-in process was fast and easy. The staff was kind and always available at the front. Theres a breakfast buffet from 7-930am. Early luggage drop off available with a scale for your convenience. Washer,dryer,toiletries, vending machine, currenncy exchange machine to your avail on the first floor. Many restaurants within walking distance , shinsaibashi and nagahoribashi station both within a 5 minute walk. 5 minute walk to the Daimaru mall and less than 10 minutes walk to Dotonbori and many many more shopping nearby. This hotel is just convenient all around.

We asked for an extra blanket and pillows and could have used one more thick blanket or quilt for a more comfortable sleep as the bed came with a sheet and a thin blanket.

The Quintessa Hotel Shinsaibashi is well located for walkability and access to the metro and many restaurants, bars, and shopping. The rooms are small and efficient, but the mattresses are too firm (reminiscent of a piece of cardboard on a cot). I am 6'3\" and I just barely fit in the bathroom/shower, so anyone taller than 6'3\" will need to be hunched in much of the hotel room. There are two laundry machines on the main floor that are easy to use, but take several cycles to dry a full load of washed clothing (plan 3 hours). The laundry is also very competitive since there are just two machines for the entire property. The breakfast was tasty each morning and the comic book library is a cool touch as well.

Customer service was mediocre at best. Not recommended for families, a bit too small. The front desk attendant rudely scolded me and my family for having candy and drinks in the lobby lounge area. He said there was no eating allowed in this area, despite other people in the past eating there. There no no signs indicating there is no eating in this area, and there are no other areas to eat in the hotel. The rooms are too small. Don’t bring your family here, pay more for the extra room.

I actually really liked this hotel. It was pretty clean, seems like bathroom/shower were recently renovated. Yes room is pretty small, but I read that a lot of Japanese hotels are like that. We were able to fit myself and 1 year old in a bed, and then my husband and 5 year old on the 2nd bed. To open our luggage, we had to open it by the room entrance and then close it up right away or else there would be no space to open doors; but it was doable even with 2 large luggages and a stroller. I also enjoyed the buffet selection for breakfast (eggs, sausage, noodles, fried chicken, rice, lots of veggie options, fish, soup, pastries, cereal, coffee machine, to name a few. Staff were friendly and spoke English. There was no issue with us checking in at midnight as opposed to 3pm. They had many free toiletries in the lobby (lotions, shaving cream, toothbrush, etc.) I loved that it was walking distance to the Dotonbori district and Shinsaibashi train station. We took the train to Nara to see the deer; train ride was less than an hour. If we needed to go further from our hotel like Universal Studios, we had no issues getting an Uber. They also allow you to leave your luggage in area by the entrance once you check out, in case you want to explore more! Overall, pretty good hotel to rest after a full day of exploring.

Excellent locatin. Short walk to subway and to shopping/dining/entertainment. Hotel is new,clean with polite and helpful staff that can communicate in English. Negative- beds are rock hard and small. If you plan to share bed with your spuse or a child - don't do it! We put our 12 year old on one bed and tried to sleep on another - it was a nightmare! We are not large people, but it was just too narrow to even lay side by side on our backs without having arms hanging off the bed. Also, room is tiny, we had our suitcase open in the entry hallway and it was not letting us to open the entry door fully so we had to slide sideways to get in and out of the room. There was no other/better place to put our suitcase. But, its like this in many japaneese hotels so, no big deal. Breakfast was nice with good selection and sufficient sitting. Overall would stay again but only with no less than one bed per person!

This location is darn near perfect if you want to be near Shinsaibashi for shopping and Dotonburi for exploring. Just minutes away from the mega shopping center and surrounded by really great restaurants every few feet away, we loved staying in this neighborhood and had a blast exploring all of the food/drink options around here. Super fun neighborhood that lights up at night, tons of locals out and about throughout the night with a lot of late night food options.
