Called reception and after some convincing they changed our room, which wasn’t much better. They said we’d have to wait for the manager to bring us some keys for the room. That never happend, no we had no keys and couldn’t lock or unlock our room. The rooms havnt been updated since it was built in the 60s

The Oasis Beach Motel is a poor cousin to the Millennium Hotel (which owns it) next door. It has a beautiful lakeside location, but you need a lakeside unit before you get to enjoy that view. Otherwise, you may as well stay in a cheaper motel in one of Taupo's backstreets. The majority of the Oasis Beach Motel's units do not have a lake view. Reception is only staffed from 8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Outside those hours, all things Reception are done at the Millennium Hotel, where the Reception is said to be open 24/7. Housekeeping was of a good standard, and staff nice and friendly. I'd recommend it for the price I paid through Trivago, but manage your expectations, and remember you get what you pay for. I'd stay there again in a lakeside unit.

Rat poo in the kitchen cupboarda and the pool was not clean. Also the spa wasnt hot. Similar to all the other reviews the Oasis Motel is on borrowed time i stayed in 718 a one bedroom unit that faced the pool this can be noisy with family groups until 8.00pm .

The booking I made stated payment was to be made at the hotel. I received a call advising if I didn’t make payment 2 days before they would cancel the room. I advised that I had planned to pay on arrival and the lady said “it’s because of people like you that we have to make these phone calls” and proceeded to advise that if I didn’t give my card number within the next 10 seconds she would cancel our booking. After taking my card number, she said that’s gone through and hung up on me.
As for the room - positives first.
It is positioned in an absolutely beautiful part with views of the Lake and very easy access with a balcony and table/chairs.
The pool was really nice. Big pool and clean.
The room however was disgraceful. I’ve been in 70 year old bach’s that are more modern and with better amenities.
The shower didn’t have any pressure, the bedrooms were tiny with no extra blankets.
Parking was an absolute nightmare and really challenging with a young baby.
It was priced up there with some of the better hotels and I could have probably excused the dated decor and musky smell but the customer service was an absolute no no for me. If it wasn’t the global games and there were alternative options we would have gone ahead and cancelled.
Understandably some translation is lost when using 3rd parties but some friendly explanation would have changed the whole experience. She even refused to give me her name. Never again

So dated we thought we had entered a time machine and were transported back in time. Door in main bedroom didn't open properly, you had to close it to get to one side of the bed. Went to take a shower and found cleaning paste filling the tray along with a face towel? Appears cleaners gave up a few seconds into the job. Pretty poor.

Room was WAY too hot. A/C did nothing. We stayed December 2025 in a lake front room to enjoy the view, but had an awful time enduring heat in our room. It was 25 degrees outside but hit 34 degrees inside our room with blinds shut and A/C on full. Unbearable for me, but dangerous for infants, seniors or any other sensitive groups. When asked, the staff did not provide any other remedy to the issue. It’s a shame, as the view and location really is amazing. Rooms are dated, but fine except from 4pm-8pm when the room turns into an oven.

Property is in poor condition no maintenance or decorating done in years....dirty...mould...broken items...dirty dishes...bathroom flooded, due to broken shower head ...drain slow to drain so water builds up. Spa not hot so not operating. Absolutely disgusted that you steal peoples money to stay here. No reception as its managed by neighboring property....manager there was lovely and tried his best to help. You could see he was clearly embarrassed. Has compalaints daily....yet you are allowed to keep trading....shamefull!

We had a lovely stay at the Oasis. We had amazing views from our clean 2 bedroom unit. The front of house staff are really friendly and hospitable. We also appreciated the clean hot pool attached to this motel. An added bonus is that you get access to the next door hotels facilities as well- pools, restaurant, bar, grotto and sauna as well. We have been staying here since 1978 and have loved every visit. Would highly recommend to fellow travellers.

I was quite disappointed with the overall experience. The property felt more like a campground than a hotel, and there was little to no staff presence even reception was unattended during the day. Our room swipe card failed to work almost daily, requiring constant replacements, which was both inconvenient and frustrating. The condition of the room was also below standard, with heavily stained carpet throughout. When we moved the coffee and dining tables, we discovered red stains that had clearly been concealed rather than cleaned.
Given the reputation of the group, we had expected something more refined and memorable. The highlight of our stay was the view, and we sincerely appreciated the efforts of the housekeeping staff, who kept our room tidy throughout. However, the hotel overall is in serious need of refurbishment and service improvements if it is to align with the standard of the Millennium Hotel next door.

I phoned them on Friday morning telling that we had a medical emergency and to cancel. The person i spoke to told me that they would advise Expedia on our behalf as i was unsure what to do. On Saturday night they phoned asking when i was checking in, i explained our situation and they denied my previous discussion and declined that they had offered to help. We stay in Taupō a lot. This was definitely the best price for the best accommodation we could find. It had a kitchenette with serving utensils for 3 (apartment size room) and a pool outside that was open in August. We didn’t think it would be open so we didn’t have swim-wear. But there were lots of people enjoying it. We assume because we were right on hot water beach the water was warm. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom had all the things you need and towels. It was perfect. It had great TV selections too. I know I’m all over the place with what I’ve written, but we just got back from a great road trip. We will stay at this Motel again!

This is such a great place to stay.We keep coming back. Had beautiful lakefront unit for a very reasonable price and there’s a heated pool as well as a tennis court. Plus the extra bonus of being able to use all the Millenium facilities and dining options next door is great. The location is quiet and lakefront walking track is on your doorstep.
