At a “5 star” hotel, I don’t expect to get a “king” that is just 2 beds pushed together. The hotel itself might, MIGHT have been a 5 star in its day, but not now. Maybe a 4. We stayed in a Doubletree the night before, that was WAY better, and only a 4 star. Breakfast was just OK. They seemed to run out of everything including butter, orange juice and bacon. Lots of tables available, but dirty with dirty dishes. There is no excuse for this. Would not recommend or stay again.

Lovely spacious clean suite. Adored the swimming pool and facilities. Our stay was over Valentines Weekend and the Hotel was very busy. We would like to mention Emma behind the bar, who was rushed off her feet, but still managed to give us great attention and friendly service. Well done Emma.

Her attentive service standard was perfect - professional yet not overbearing as many hospitality professionals can be. Room booked via wotif said twin room with double bed but the room was twin single beds and 2 adt and 1 10 yr old child cant fit in 2 single beds…. Was nice of the hotel to offer roll out bed…. The only downside is that the mattress is wayyyy too soft. Could bro fall asleep. But for someone who needs a fork mattress, this is a big deal.

Only gripe was lack of milks for coffee and tea , not impressed with pod system for coffee a waste of space .

The hallways are mazes, you have to go thru many doors. We had to walk the length of football field to get to our door. No help with baggage. No amenities other than slippers. Parking is down a hill with a narrow walkway. Weird property. Stay was meh. It was quiet though.

Well below the Hilton brand standards, hairs from previous guests still on the wall of the shower room. Due to the shower curtain the entire bathroom floor gets flooded so no one can use the toilet with getting their pants wet. Non private balcony and the list goes on and on

Very comfortable Hotel, bed was comfy with nice linen and great towels in the bathroom and nice underfloor heating in the bathroom also. Food in the restaurant was delicious.
And we had a nice view out towards the Lake.

Parking and checkin was a shambles. When I arrived at 7:30pm all the free guest parking was full, and there was inadquate space in front of reception for check in aprking as well. Having to pay an extra $25 for secured parking was an unwelcome surprise.

The room was fine - comfortable bed, large clean bathroom - but breakfast was another disappointment. The cooked options were all barely lukewarm. Pastries weren't fresh. Not up to Hilton standard.

Wonderful character about this property. Very friendly welcoming team of staff and fabulous views across the lake and to the snow-capped mountains. An impressive range of choice for breakfast options, lovely pool, gym and steam/sauna rooms and an all round wonderful and memorable experience. We will definately be planning to return.

I found the majority of the staff were excellent. But the bar staff (not the manager) didn’t understand what is expected. Eg both staff talked to each other in their native language and didn’t acknowledge patrons who went to the bar for service. No eye contact or acknowledge that they were waiting.
All the other staff we came across were excellent.

Our main-floor room was accessed by going through a very tight hallway with 2 very heavy firedoors which were difficult to open and in quick succession, making it feel like a bit of an obstacle course. Very difficult to manage the luggage cart. For our second load of luggage, we ended up going in and unlocking the sliding glass door to patio and bringing in luggage through the patio. Bathroom was due for some maintenance-- grout needed work and the threshold between carpeted room and tiles bathroom was missing, leaving a ragged carpet edge between the rooms which was strange. While the staff were very friendly, we felt overall it was a let down for the Hilton. We were unaware at time of booking that the room we booked and paid significant money for would not be the one advertised in the photos e.g ground level , no bathtub instead a very dated and somewhat dirty shower and shower curtain. Further more we received towels on the second day with holes in them…the hairdryer didn’t work and sounded as though it was about to blow up at any point and our bed sheets over the two days - at check in and even after a cleaning service had dirty stains on them. We also dined at the restaurant on our first evening and waited 40 minutes after ordering or drinks to receive them..the food itself was lovely and can’t fault that at all. As it was booked for a birthday getaway we just felt a little let down by the experience at a renowned chain and for the money we paid.

We stayed at this hotel during our visit to Lake Taupo on our 10-day road trip around the North Island! The Hotel was immaculate and the staff impeccable! The Hotel’s location was only a short car ride to the CBD, but the views of Lake Taupo from our room made up for that…stunning! We ate a few meals in the attached restaurant and all the meals were outstanding! We were also always able to get one of the tables with lake views! We were only able to visit one of the local Wineries (Mission Estate) because it was Easter Sunday. The wines were very good, and we ended up buying a few bottles. Hope to be back on our future world travels! Free parking!

The housekeeping staff text daily to make sure you were happy with everything and if you needed anything extra.
They did a wonderful job of keeping our apartment clean during our 3 night stay.
The only negative was the wear and tear in the carpets, we felt they needed to be replaced in some areas.

We booked a lake facing superior room, with a balcony. We had a ground room and the view was covered by the hotel bushes and trees, we couldnt see the lake. The door had the rubber guard half peeled off the outside door, there was animal urine on our balcony. We found a necklace in the bathroom, there was black mold in the bathroom shower and the ceiling paint was peeling. Superficial things like scuff marks on the walls and chunks of plaster from the walls. HOWEVER, The duty manager was great and very understanding, she listened to my concerns and i NEVER complain. She had the cleaning crew come within 15 mins, they fixed the issued inside the room, they didnt have cleaning equipment for the urine outside so that was left as it was.
The duty manager advised me she couldnt refund as i booked 3rd party but made accommodations where she could which i definitely appreciated.
Whilst this was not a pleasant stay i appreciate the duty managers efforts to try to turn it around for us given we stayed 1 night.

Hotel is not located close to the water; picture of hotel does not match reality; room nice, spacious but bathroom moldy. Was supposed to have pool view; room located far from pool. Not enough chairs for guests around the pool. Bus tour group shows up (50) there maybe 15 chairs around pool. Like: staff was friendly and attentive, breakfast was nice and staff great
