The walls (or at least the wallpaper on them) in the lobby are cracked from water damage. The pool and hot tub were nasty. This was a smoking hotel for sure at one point and may still be. Our room didn't smell bad but the hallway was awful. The walls were dirty and stained. We left a pillow there and called and they said there wasn't one left there. The breakfast was okay and the beds were decent. This hotel needs a renovation and is not a nice hotel.

We basically just stopped in to sleep for a night and it was nicer than expected based on Google reviews! (Those reviews had me sweating as my son read them to me after we already booked lol!!)

We arrived around 10pm and nobody was at the desk so I panicked for a moment that we missed check in hour, but he showed up a few minutes later apologetically and was very nice! To my surprise our room was enormous (2 queens with a couch/chair), and the beds were comfy. 3 adults and 2 kids fit comfortably in beds. Refrigerator actually worked unlike most hotels I go to lol, and had usb charger ports by the lamp which was nice since I didn’t have my wall charger. My only complaint was the shower floor had this mystery blue stain on it (wore my flip flops) and the toilet was leaking a bit. Otherwise the water pressure/temperature was great. Breakfast had mini waffles, cereal, bagels/toast, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, juice, water dispenser. I will say by the look of the pool/jacuzzi, I would not swim in it lol but we didn’t have time to anyways.

There is a Texas Roadhouse in walking distance but we went to Free State Brewery and Coldstone Creamery for dessert in Lawrence (30 mins away). Both delish!

There are some cockroaches in the rooms. Furthermore, the cleaning staff tried to steal some belongings I had forgotten behind; when I went to claim them, the receptionist behaved very rudely. They wouldn't let me enter my room at 10:00 a.m., claiming they had already cleaned it—even though I hadn't yet returned the key or formally checked out. The checkout time is supposed to be 11:00 a.m.

Check in lady was rude when we notified them the facet in tub was running and unable to turn off. Had to beg for towels on several occasions. Staff even told us that giving us towels was not their job. Staff constantly on video calls when approached desk and were motioned to wait a minute. Only thing good about was it was clean, although sheets were stained, and location for us.

Handicap was used by staff because it was close to main door, they did not have a Handicap placard nor a handicap tag. When I brought it up to staff, they said it was private property, but as a business they still have to follow federal and local laws and be ADA complaint. Staff admit they had water down pancake mix and it's why it wouldn't cook correctly in waffle maker, but it was still doughy inside after about 5 minutes. Other breakfast choices were few. Tv in room screen was frozen staff said you had to change to input HDMI screen was still frozen they didn't seem to care. Overall staff were rude and didn't seem to care about hotel issues.

Satisfactory for the price. HOWEVER, not happy with the discrepancy between the pet fee and the actual fee charge at the hotel. Hotels.com had $25 pet fee but $45 plus tax was charged at the door. Hotels.com needs update the sight or Quality Inns are doing a bait and switch. Several dog owners that night faced the same consequences. Per the front desk person there were 6 dogs on site that night. I witnessed one lady with 3 dogs, then another dog owner followed me. I wonder if we would have come if we knew before booking that we would be charged $45/ pet? I think it was Candance at the front desk that had to deal with this issue with each dog owner, frustrating for the dog owners and or her, she handled the situations matter of factly, but well. Parking was sufficient, but the lot and landscaping need some TLC and cleanup. Good location for restaurant options. We did not have breakfast; it was only available until 9am.

This hotel is a favorite of me and my kids staycations. I enjoy the affordability and the kids enjoy the pool the most. They could have given us a cleaner room last stay. Our room smelled musty and there was an oily handprint on the wall above a headboard which was gross. The worker offered to move us but we had already settled in and didnt want to move everything. Breakfast is basic but good! Will continue to stay here.

I checked in about 2 am with a reservation. Clerk (no name tag, red hair, abundant tattoos and piercings) gave me 2 key cards for a 3rd floor room, but when I got there, neither of them worked. So back to the front desk, was handed 2 keys to a different room (no apology) and then neither key worked for the second room. Clerk grudgingly came and verified they didn't work, told me some of the locks don't work and new ones had been ordered, as if that solved the problem. When I observed that I still didn't have a room to sleep in, clerk took me to one at the end of the hall that did open, with extra fans running inside and a strong cleaning solution smell.

When I hesitated, clerk rudely threatened, \"I could just check you out right now,\" making my only other choice to leave the hotel I'd already paid for and look for something else in the middle of the night. So I stayed in the room, which had not been vacuumed and had crumbling plaster behind the not-so-clean toilet, and had a headache for several days after from the smell in the room.

The clerk was apparently too busy with their craft project (something involving pliers and wire) to simply make a list of the rooms with locks that don't work. It's ridiculous to send a guest to find out, and double ridiculous to do it TWICE.

There are other mediocre hotels in this area of Topeka--you can definitely find one better managed than this one, which doesn't even know which rooms it can unlock.

We had 3 rooms w/ 2 queens each. The hotel was nearly full, and it appeared that only one poor staff member was responsible for it all. All rooms smelled musty and smoked in. The lamp shades were cracked and broken, and one was missing a bulb. In one tub, the faucet would pull away from the tile, and there were loose bathroom tiles. The carpets were dirty and torn, and at least one mattress had staining. Lastly, there was dog poop in one of the stairwells. If this hotel is rated 7.2, I’d hate to see the 5.8 hotel that we passed up.

Some windows on ground level had screens broken and bent, looking like someone was trying to break into the rooms. My room had the screen totally broken off and hanging. No window locks. Toilet had sound of running water the whole time we was there. Sound of fast rushing water was sounding throughout the hotel. Smelled like chlorine and mildew at the same time. Lady that checked us in was rude and unfriendly. Additional charge wasn't worth the price of staying there. It definitely felt unsafe, worse than a cheap motel.

Check in went fine until i entered the unmade room, sheets and towels wer we stull piled back to the front desk to request a nee room, no apologies for the inconvenience, but did get a different room. It was clean, but the TV didn't work.breakfast was decent. No privacy from the Home Depot parking lot behind the hotel, but the soundproofing is good. For the price, it was a decent stay.

Nice staff at both check-in and check-out.
Some concerns in our room and throughout the hotel…
Our smoke detector was not connected, sitting below the television, and battery was dead. They are supposed to be hard wired, so if 1 goes off they all go off.
Vending machine not working, ice machine not working.
Carpet dirty throughout the building.
The hotel needs some updating. It smells dirty in the hallways, room was better.
Fire extinguisher in the hallway is not current.
I always like to say something positive, so I will add: bath towels were nice and fluffy.

I specifically called and asked if pool and hot tub were in working order. I was told yes. Got there and neither were working. Found out they have been down for a long time so I was lied to on the phone. It was late and we had our two young grandchildren with us. The sole reason for the trip was to spend the weekend and swim. So we got our room on the 3rd floor. Went to run a bath for kids and there was hair on the drain. So I scrubbed the tub out. Waited 20 minutes for hot water and finally gave up on that. 7:45 Sunday morning we go down to eat and all that's there is waffle stuff and cereal. Everything else was gone. They serve breakfast until 9. Other than the nice desk clerk when we checked in I don't have a good thing to say about the place. I contacted Expedia that evening and they were of no help at all.

DO NOT STAY HERE!

This was horrible! We checked in and were told they were at capacity and the only room they had left was one that the people that checked out that morning had smoked in. Also a couple of guys that seemed like regulars or just hanging out with the clerk and were super creepy at the front desk being super loud. We couldn't hardly hear the clerk while we were trying to check in and made us very uncomfortable. We were on our way home for my mother's funeral and all of our clothes in our luggage smelled like smoke and we had to go to the funeral smelling like stale smoke. We were stuffed up all night so made it hard to sleep. Also made it hard to sleep that people were yelling in the parking lot at 3am and someone was running up and down the hallway upset. The elevator was nasty had stuff spilled in it that was dried up. There were what looked like abandoned cars in the parking lot, just trashy. We went down for breakfast the next morning and there was nothing there but waffles with no syrup and 2 biscuits for biscuits and gravy to feed the 3 of us. There was no fruit, yogurt, or anything else that you would normally see in a Quaily Inn contential breakfast.

Remote didn’t work, called front desk, person came up and plugged in wires behind tv, said the remote probably needed new batteries but did not give us a new one. Advertisement states \"rooms are sound proof\" they are NOT sound proof. I didn't sleep at all during my stay there because the floors/walls were so thing and Not sound proof enough that I could hear both sides of a zoom call from one room. Another room the people were arguing, and in another someone was singing in the shower.

Bed was horrible. One side felt like sleeping on concrete (which actually probably would have been more comfortable) and the other there was no support at all.

As for the stated \"breakfast\" that was offered. It was coffee and an apple. And the coffee was basically just luke warm water with barely any coffee in it. Will definitely not stay in a quality inn again and especially not this one.

Staff was friendly. Beds were lower to the ground and more firm than my likings. Room was nice and large but the bathroom was small and needed updated. Pool area was smaller and the hot tub was only warm after an hour of the jets going but also had to deal with loud ringing noise from when the jets were on. During breakfast my children were worried as two other guests were discussing just being released from prison.

The inn was clean, the staff from the get-go was pleasant and accommodating. The person who greeted me was patient and kind; the breakfast preparer was delightful and very helpful. As we departed, the staff members was kind wishing us a safe trip. I was so pleased for the inn, I looked for another Quality Inn for the next night.

We were actually surprised because the price was right, that this place was as nice as it is. It’s in a decent location, and the rooms were very clean! Slightly outdated, there was some rust in the bathroom but it obviously didn’t affect our stay. I would stay here again for sure. Ohh and I left my iPhone charger in the room, but they had it when I came back for it a few hours later so shout-out to housekeeping.

* The room had a musty/moldy smell
* The light switch for the bathroom was behind the hinges of the door that opened into the room (meaning to turn on the bathroom light the door to the bathroom had to be closed (or partially open) and then had to walk around the door to go in the bathroom
* The door connecting to the adjacent room was so thin I could hear, and understand most of, the conversation of the couple staying there (and I have a hearing loss in one ear)
